I still think the true sign of a believer is when you bring it up in every day conversations. Bitcoin becoming more mainstream is the ultimate goal. Obviously making a ton of profit from it is great, but it's still secondary to it gaining mainstream respect.
I do bring it up but most people look confused. The most common question I get is "who's in charge of bitcoin?", and I talk about "the community" and "open source". Obviously a very new concept to most people, who haven't got a clue what open source is and they seem very dubious about a "currency" without anyone being in control of it. Just tell them on the contrary. Ask them if they prefer a currency that can be easily manipulated and devalued at the whim of those banks and governments that control it?

I don't know whether you guys know this or not but the US government has said that any male of fighting age, i.e. mid to late teens or older, in the FATA area of Pakistan is considered an enemy combatant and is a legitimate target. So it doesn't matter if the person is innocent or guilty as long as he falls under that description and is considered suspicious for whatever reason he can be hit by a drone. Oh come on! This is ridiculous. I don't think any one has ever said something like that. Do you have any proof for your claims? They did say something like this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/29/drone-attacks-innocent-civilians_n_1554380.html"It in effect counts all military-age males in a strike zone as combatants, according to several administration officials, unless there is explicit intelligence posthumously proving them innocent," the Times reports. "Counterterrorism officials insist this approach is one of simple logic: people in an area of known terrorist activity, or found with a top Qaeda operative, are probably up to no good."

I think it's either going to be over $5k or nothing.
What would cause the value to drop to nothing in the next 12 months? More governments scaring folk.. Like India is growing now but its government already hate the idea. Even if every government in the world 'banned' it, the price still wouldn't drop to zero. People would still use it as a payment system / means of exchange, therefore it would still be worth something.

What was wrong with it exactly? I've only seen videos of the OS but it looks ok to me. So are you saying Android is the way to go?
Right now I would say Android. The other option is to wait for Ubuntu Phone OS http://www.ubuntu.com/phone. Since Ubuntu Phone OS contains third party GPL V3 code it will be impossible to lockdown and censor applications like Apple's IOS or Microsoft's Windows phone. As to what is wrong with Microsoft phone OS, it basically has the same problem as Windows 8 RT. OS lockdown and application censorship enforced by DRM. Ah, this is interesting. I'm a user and big fan of ubuntu. When is this scheduled for release? Are Ubuntu releasing an actual phone handset or just the operating system for android phones? The OS looks pretty good.

I'd like to confirm that I have received a payment. OP is legit!

I am trying to figure this out as well. It is the first time I have seen something like this on a forum. Hmm seems like bitcointalk gets excessive spam :/
Till I can post in the other sections?
Newbie Restrictions You can only post in the Newbie and Local sub-forums till you have made one post and waited 4 hours. This post must be substantial: at least several sentences. The other two restrictions are you need 1 post to be able to send a PM and 10 posts to put a link in your sig. You can only post once every 360 seconds to start and there are a few other things that trigger this timer such as logging in and searching. Info on forum ranks can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Just wondering but what is the current exchange rate for dogecoins to bitcoins? Obviously bitcoins are worth far more and easier to sell so I just wanted to know how many bitcoins I'd get for say...1000 dogecoins. Also if possible, can you link me to a webpage to exchange my dogecoins. Thanks ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I think the only place you can exchange Dog for BTC is: https://coinedup.com/OrderBook?market=DOGE&base=BTCI also don't understand the poll.

I'm a first time user of Bitcoin and I'm so excited! After reading up on it the past few days, I actually want to attend the North American Bitcoin Conference this January. Any tips on how to be successful while using Bitcoin?! Thanks everyone ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) xx ![Kiss](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/kiss.gif) Probably buy some now whilst they're cheap, and don't panic sell, and remember to only invest what you can afford to lose.

I was just saying, this is a forum for bitcoin related talk, not a fashion show of scantily clad women.
Ha, this probably should be in off-topic, or maybe services.

Is a new dish really just 20£? Now suddenly my interest for Dreambox increased. Will this package work if you're outside UK?
Yeah, you can get 'em off ebay for around that. Dunno how good they'll be though. Cant image 'em being top quality for twenty quid.

I try PM'ing someone and I get a message that my IP needs to wait 360 seconds before posting yet I didn't send a single PM message today, let alone in the last month.
Nice life.
Log-ins and posted / attempted posted messages count too.

Send me all your bitcoins, I'm reliable! ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) By the way, since it is impossible to enforce I just picked neutral. It's not impossible to enforce, but to enforce fully it is, but that doesn't mean we should let it happen or remain neutral. It's impossible to enforce fully the sale of child porn and weapons but I don't think that means we should take a neutral stance on it. As you can see, the threat that anyone caught selling CP will be punished/ostracized has resulted in CP being sold in secret. The only way to reveal these secret trades is to put a stop to privacy. Thoughts? I think people who buy/sell accounts should be ostracised. If somebody PMd me to try flog me CP, I'd report it, and I think we should treat the buying and sale of accounts in the same way. Obviously we can never stop the sale of accounts fully, but at least we can police it as a community and not tolerate it in an attempt to minimise their sale. It'd be a hell of a lot harder to buy and sell accounts if people were prohibited and wern't allowed to do so publicly, and if they did privately it'd be a reportable offence which could lead to a banning or being banned from PMing or whatnot.

Thanks for the payment, Stunna! Have left positive feedback. - You may not advertise any other sites/threads. This includes non-paid for advertisements. You may include other non advertising related. Eg. a quote, your Bitcoin address etc.
Why the new stricter rules? I have a link to a thread i started and it's about a potential scammer in my local community. It is serious and i don't want to remove it but i also want to enroll for a 4th month to your promo. Can there be some exceptions? This has always been there, though I think he mentioned you can link to your own threads, and some people have had both. You may wish to PM Stunna for clarification, although I would like to know this too, as I'd like to link to my rep thread (when I make one) and a thread to my items for sale on the Marketplace.

Some of us are legit ebay sellers with long positive sales histories... And selling on ebay is our only job because we want to be self employed and not be someone elses b!&*#.
You can always sell on here or on localbitcoins, but obviously you're not going to get the inflated premium prices people pay on ebay. Yeah, ebay/paypal needs to get their act together and change their system, but until they do the risk of being scammed is the risk you take. I actually have to earn a living. This isn't a hobby for me, so selling to make a few bucks a week like most sellers do doesn't work. You hit the nail on the head local BITCOINS... I sell alt currencies, those don't sell to people who know how to buy and trade bitcoins for them now do they? Inflated? yeah theyre called ebay listing paypal payment and final value fees which amount to about 17.5% of my gross revs then theres the 5-9% I pay over World average from the guy I buy My BTC from. Then theres about a 0.5 - 1% pop for withdrawal and trading fees. What about the wild market fluctuations of late? How the hell do I rebuy coins to sell for... oh no... a profit? Evil a-hole I am... when I bought my first bitcoin for 800, the second for 1100, and the third for 1350? The 60% margin I enjoy when the market is stable for a couple days gets shot. Then the coins I sold for 50 cents each pop in a week to $3... Please get off your high horse about inflated prices... When in the desert you would pay anything for a glass of water. But I don't gouge people, I do make a fair return for the risk! I don't know where you got that I was on a high-horse. You obviously feel like you're doing something wrong here. I've seen Dogcoins and Infintecoins go for £100s for a literally worthless amount, so even with fees etc that's still a huge markup. I don't think I'm doing jack s&^% wrong I hate seeing people complain about Inflated prices... They are typically on a high horse when they do. Tired of seeing inflated prices? Well, do something about it... Sell your coins at a loss if you're so concerned for the community, put up a buy it now on ebay for what you paid for your coins and see how fast you go bankrupt... ebay will have you owing them 1000 bucks in no time. Its ebay thats inflated with their partner paypal they take 12.9% WTF! Why do you think the gas stations 1 block from the freeway charge 10 cents more per gallon than the ones off the highway? Because they are open at 3 a.m. and CONVENIENT!!! And a bottle of friggin filtered water? It's free for all intents and purposes but at 2 bucks a bottle thats over 16 bucks for water!!! Again CONVENIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't complaining, you were. And I'm not tired of seeing Inflated prices. People pay what they're prepared to pay. I don't by my coins from ebay, so it's irrelevant to me. Again, you're complaining about ebay and paypal, yet you're still using it. You can't have it both ways.

Which is absurd. What chance does bitcoin have if people can't use it on their home PC for fear of theft?
Online wallets and clients need 2FA and maybe online banking style "enter letters 3, 5 and 7 from your password" to help improve security.
For anyone moving coins around - buying and selling, day trading, etc - paper wallets or offline storage really isn't practical.
That is a good proposal. This will eliminate the problem with keyloggers as well. This is definitely a good idea. Keyloggers are probably the easiest way to get at your password. Like others have said, I recommend Linux. I moved from windows about a year ago and never looked back. Was getting far too many viruses.
