He always pissed me off, he just comes off smug.

I think if you become a Bitcoin millionaire and have been preaching about how great BTC is for years, then I think you're allowed a little smugmode  Grin.

19366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I dream of a day where useless fiat is burned to create electricity for bitcoin on: December 12, 2013, 07:42:19 PM
I pray that day never comes. Don't get me wrong, I am a strong supporter of bitcoin, but having only one digital currency would be a very bad thing. The global economy thrives on having a multitude of currencys available at any given point in time. A single currency dominating the exchange would end up being a very bad thing. That is unless dollars/euros/etc go digital.

There doesn't have to be just one cryptocurrency for the world; there could be several. They could also coexist alongside fiat ones.
19367  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FT article "Time to take the Bitcoin bubble seriously" on: December 12, 2013, 07:24:22 PM
Only cryptoplebs don't take it seriously yet. I'm sure they'll be wishing they'd've taken it seriously when/if it goes complete mainstream.
19368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Good names for coins on: December 12, 2013, 07:15:52 PM
Why is it a joke?
A currency for porn only seems like a great idea, one of the problems of the porn industry is that buyers would like to stay anonymous and that's not possible with credit cards.

So they're gonna use a currency called Sexcoin instead? Hardly inconspicuous. The porn industry will just use Bitcoin if they need a crypto. I don't see why they have to have their own coin.
19369  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Alt-Coins on: December 12, 2013, 07:03:03 PM

What is the Doge coin acronym?

You mean what is its abbreviated name like BTC is for Bitcoin, or what is Doge an acronym of? If you mean the former I haven't seen one, but I think it might just be Doge haha.
19370  Other / Meta / Re: How is Activity calculated? on: December 12, 2013, 06:38:11 PM
Most people have more posts than activity, but my activity always catches up with my posts.  Huh

Quote
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

The info is stickied at the top of Meta and tells you all about ranks and coins etc: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

I'd say we, the people, are backing it.
19372  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question About Wallet on: December 12, 2013, 06:31:17 PM
1. I have a wallet on blockchain.info, i think it is the wallet called "online wallet"?
2. I have installed "bitcoin-qt" software, i think it is the wallet called "offline wallet"?
3. Can i send BTC from my blockchain.info wallet to my "bitcoin-qt"?
4. Does 1 wallet can have multiple addresses? (on bitcoin wallet software i can create some addresses).
5. which one is the safest way to store BTC : blockchain.info / my bitcoin software?

Thank you.

1. Yes, it's an online wallet.
2. No, offline is cold storage such as paper wallets or if you keep your wallet.dat file on a usb etc
3. Yes, you can send BTC from your blockchain to your computer wallet.
4. Wallets can have multiple addresses. Just create a new one.
5. The safety depends on how safe you are. You can lose both your accounts to key loggers if they get your passwords. On blockchain.info you can set up 2 factor authentication which adds an extra layer of security. Make sure to encrypt your wallet and make several back ups.

Spend some time reading up on the different ways you can safely store your money before diving straight in. Better to be safe than sorry.

Hope that helps.
19373  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I allowed to do this? on: December 12, 2013, 06:03:06 PM
I have a small comic store on Ebay and my own website, at the moment my store is showing part of my stock from Ebay and I am accepting FRC as payment for comics. For now the prices are displayed in GBP £ and anyone wishing to purchase comics the item would be removed from Ebay and exchange rate plus postage would be calculated at current values. I have very good feedback on Ebay and have actually carried out the first sale of a comic using FRC as the currency.

Would it be OK to list the link for my website in the Market Place section of the Forum? At the moment I do not have access to this part of the forum and assume I need to be approved first.

You don't need approval to list or link to items, you just need to get make enough posts and stick around long enough to get out of the newbie section.
19374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has the potential to be a game changer says Big Four accountant firm on: December 12, 2013, 05:55:17 PM
Of course it has the potential to be a game-changer. That's an underestimate. It could change the world and I hope it does!

19376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if you want btc to succeed start dumping your iDevices/Apple on: December 12, 2013, 05:23:36 PM
I want to get rid of my iphone. What do people suggest as a replacement? I Was a bug Nokia fan back in the day, but haven't had one for years.
Stop focusing on the brand and start looking at the operative system and the hardware.

I never said I was focusing on brand. I just asked for suggestions for alternatives to iPhones.

I said this because Nokia smartphones have Windows Phone OS, while most other smartphones have Android, and apple smartphones have iOS. So if you get a nokia you won't have the same OS you would have by buying for example a Galaxy S-something

What are the biggest differences between Windows and Android, or pros and cons if you know of any? I've not even used a smartphone other than Iphone, so I have no idea how they compare.
19377  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for 500 word articles - $5 in BTC on: December 12, 2013, 05:06:02 PM
I am happy to write articles or do forum postings and would accept many different cryptos as payment, but I'd only be willing to do 500 words for at least double what you're offering. Check out my previous post history for the quality of my writing.

19378  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: First customer! Help needed with exchange rate on: December 12, 2013, 04:43:32 PM
We've got our first potential customer who wants to reserve an apartment in Minsk!
Great, that proves accepting bitcoins can actually drive new business.

So far I've simply added in the payment page "Bitcoins accepted here" and didn't do any Bitpay, or similar, integration.
So the first question the customer asks is: what exchange rate are you applying?
I am tempted to give the http://markets.blockchain.info/markets/mtgox/EUR rate but I wonder if there's some more official/balanced/suggested rate?
What would you do?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Use Preev. It's an average of the exchanges and updates constantly: http://preev.com/btc/gbp
19379  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does wikipedia remind of you the beggards on this forum? on: December 12, 2013, 04:40:24 PM

Maybe Jimmy should come up with a sobstory about he needs to buy his daughter a laptop or how somebody broke in and stole his Christmas presents or something, maybe that'd work.

bump bump  Grin

You guys do know you can find women in bikinis on google? Somebody even told me there was fully naked ones!  Grin

Of cause ,  Grin it's always better knowing where the source of the pics come from right ?

Whatever floats your boat... and sinks someone elses  Grin.

Edit hahahahahahahaha:

Monica, the girl from Bitcointalk,
had so luck for this network.

There in the internets,
girls always gets disrespects,

while she posts her photo there,
all those virgin boys just stare,

they use photoshop to make her nude,
instead of sending her flowers they are rude.

But here we are in the world of Bitcoin,
so Monique has the perfect option,

to show her in underwear or cleavage,
while we just tip her, our lovely chick!

I think the last line needs to rhyme (like what I just did there).
