1941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 21, 2014, 02:38:30 PM
Hi, I have some questions for marketing purposes for Monero.

  • Is it fair to say Monero is %100 anonymous? As I understand it, it is possible to do forensic study of the blockchain to determine with high probability who sent a transaction, but it is never possible to prove it irrefutably. Is that true?
  • Does Monero have a blockchain in the same sense as Bitcoin? How reliable is the total coin count on the block explorer and how is that number reliably determined?
  • I've heard that Bytecoin is closed source? Is that true and if so does that mean Monero is also closed source? Finally if Monero is not closed source how did it fork from Bytecoin if Bytecoin is closed source?
  • Are the same type of altcoins possible with Bytecoin forks that are possible with Bitcoin forks? If so, theoretically are things like Proof of Stake, Fluttercoin's Proof of Transaction, or Darkcoin's Masternodes or TOR integration possible for additional layers of security? Would these be necessary or just superfluous bloat considering the already potentially strong security that Monero offers through ring signatures?

That is a good start for now. Thank you to whomever may answer.

Don't want to fracture answers, what I know and did is to work off source code in github directly

https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero

there is a chain that source code derives from above forks from

https://github.com/bitmonero-project/bitmonero

and what seems to be original POC (proof of concept)

https://github.com/amjuarez/bytecoin  (seems to be baseline)

let others elaborate on remaining questions that I self would love to have an answer to, meantime I am mining this, nice traction has developed and this is real innovation in crypto

 Cool

entering this.

question to community... using pool , how to determine if to target starting difficulty: 100 (low CPU) or 500 (medium CPU)  or 1000 (modern CPU)

pool seems to set difficulty based on the port one goes after... for now I went after starting difficulty 1000 and will measure output after some delta

thanks much for any advice on "advanced" mining and have a wonderful day (coin is ULTRA cool) thx

 Cool

I have come back to mining GDN after a 2 day break. I have also went to a different pool. I joined cryptotools over at infinity pool. I am surprised more people are not there with their 0% fees. I hope they post when they have upgraded to new wallet.

thanks much, researching cryptotools based on your post, and thanks for pointing out to me this coin, looks good

+ infinity pool due to 0% now that difficulty doubled I can use all the help I can get  Cool

Haha, yea difficulty has jumped a bit today. Yep im mining over at InfinityPool as well. I like their 0 fee's (even though suchpool seems to have the most hash for now).

Also proud to say, I just updated my DNS seed node to the latest version.

DNS Seed Node:
IP: 54.186.203.23
Domain: gdn.node.cryptocointools.com

Also don't forget guys. Keep voting every 30 mins @ https://usecryptos.com/coinvoting

We are battling right along the time few coins. Lets win! We can do this! Smiley

I have a good feeling about this coin, . switched to infinitypool with some small rental for now, I think there is KGW, so it is just overall network hash rate that went up, which is great

will vote as well <added vote>

have a great night!

ps. actually yes.. believe KGW algo just kicked in (because difficulty rate was sudden order of 2 x) so possibly multipool

in any case good karma here and you shall be going places

Make sure you have Updated your wallet to 0.8.7 as there is a Hard Fork at 42000 to switch to Digishield

good morning and thank you!, working off git master (https://github.com/GlobalDenomination/GDN) just did new pull and build

its nice to see dev activity ! Cool

This is what women do when they see me staking Sync

SYNC block froze all of a sudden... now POW will last forever!

A lot of people want the PoW to end now Grin

yeah man, you created hell of a coin, it took more than half available GHS with it, and factories rushed to produce ASIC for X11, you did it man! excellent

loca grande above  Cool  I am expecting "2nd shift" multi-pool delivery , but since we are approaching end of this "torture" soon maybe throw couple of 10MHS donuts at it to finish the misery

Only the "zerocoin" will surpass what transpired here in the last few days

For that coin booking flight to Sweden (we all know what they make there)

let me approach loca grande with this

Shift #1 has been paid from SYNC pool

~28 hours shift

Syncs made from trades 1,06845651
Average trade rate 0,42390541 SYNC/BTC

Join us now at http://multipoolmining.com

X11 support will follow as soon as our DDOS supplier gives us protected IP for X11 stratum server!!

payout delivered as it has been promised, thank you (I enjoy old school trust, something we need to re-establish as a rule and not an exception)
1951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SYNC]X11 | POS| 1,000 Coins| 2 days mining left|Encrypted addresss on: May 20, 2014, 09:47:59 PM
All public addresses are hidden by Zerocoin features in SYNC protocol.  Kiss

This is one of the most retarded statements I saw for months..

dude manners please, in medical books this is called "passive aggression" please watch your statements, thanks

So, did the multipool already buy up and pay the miners ?
No, it says in the faq that it will do so only every 48 hours.

So how come all the confirmed shares got reset then, An hour ago I had about 20M confirmed and 2M unconfirmed, now only have the unconfirmed?  There's no payout info and nothing in wallet either.

it's very possible that they are in the process of filling up on SYNC now.
if it is queuing at 0.35 now....then miss this pump.
thats why instant buy is so important

well if it is our multi, they've listened to the consensus - this is a good community.

Hope too, that i was our pool, but if not, are we a bad community ?  Grin

if it wasn't our multi, they'll have just shot themselves in the foot, because they'll now have to put buy orders in >0.5.

regardless even at > 0.5 (on miss) still beats controlled mining on any pool (because of large spread between difficulty and price at the moment) it is great POW is so short, it might be that tomorrow price might shoot up thru  the roof, in that case a different strategy is in order (multipool in reverse like putting car in R on an autobahn  Cool

Also buy orders fell on almost exact timeline when shares for all miners were reset to 0...

i didn't mean a buy order >0.5 was a bad thing, i just mean, they'd have missed the low orders, if it wasn't them - which i'm sure; it was.

no worries, I am doing loud thinking myself (but trying hard not to talk to myself) (what to do might change from one day to the next)

weapon (shares) are being loaded up again for another round.. multipool in crypto is learning the same lessons as firms on Wall Street for generation as long as automated trading was around.

seeing the same thing "reset" was across the board, maybe buy orders were issued.. they should because cheap not sure if it will drop lower, clock moved closer to the end... pressure will rise

overal between 200 to 1000 million shares should buy large SYNC spread, this share has been and is established at ~ 150 MHS which is an eeexcellent achievement.   Cool

Official Sync multipool needs SYNC, and will place buy order, not buying SELL orders!
Other multi-pools will need BTC fast, and will sell against buy price to have fast BTC in hand..

This is the reason we have slow payouts, we want to give you the best payouts possible!
Your SYNC multipool will prevent price drops due to this methods!

http://multipoolmining.com, the right way to mine sync!

Please don't change a thing (not even PHP or python web interface), proceed at your discretion and 48 hrs no rush (trust is in place, because you were referred by team leader at SYNC corporation)

and thank you

just make sure power supply provides right amplitude to the server and double check cabling for IP connectivity to establish SYNC buy orders that's all

mining stopped @ 3797 block? Isn't supposed to be 7200 blocks?

no such a thing, please use official block explorer http://explorer.synclub.net/explorer

see you all tonight

Hope guys ain't sleeping 262.09 Million shares are being readied to unload (purchase large quantity of SYNC for 0.3680000 BTC a piece)

It could go lower though. Hopefully, it is funny one bets on coin to go lower in price, but this is type of system exchanges have created, all natural..

What is important are later anon features and darksend etc etc infrastructure buildup

.36500001 sat get em while their cheap!

 Shocked

even the multi's must be losing money selling at that price.. methinks these multi's are really screwing over their miners by selling at this price...
i'll keep mining direct because I get the choice of when I sell 'em (if i sell 'em)

works in the opposite when a multi pool is buying SYNC at these prices (a gift from heaven)  Cool

1/2 fire sale Profit / Loss 24h: -41.77 % pretty awesome
1960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SYNC]X11 | POS| 1,000 Coins| 2 days mining left|Encrypted address on: May 20, 2014, 12:48:12 PM
I am happy to report that although payout from http://multipoolmining.com/ has not occurred yet, efficiency for most of the miners there stands at 100%, shares match rig output and unconfirmed shared move to confirmed in the steady pace and there are no network time outs (hash rate is stable over an average of time)

It is an interesting model this multipool in general as this approaches idea of high frequency trading what banks do although on much smaller scale, real differential is the algorithm (alt-coin selection for trade) I am predicting that we will see more innovation in that direction somehow integrated to POS as well (although this is not as of yet)

aaaand! combining with below SYNC market price will make my shares be even more valuable, just perfect
