1941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH becoming the biggest leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin has no future. on: July 20, 2017, 12:49:48 PM
ETH is going up fast everyday, now it has the market cap 60% of bitcoin.

It has no doubt ETH will become the biggest and new normal standard as CryptoCurrency and displace bitcoin aka "Chinacoin" before the end of July.

LOL! The Chinese think ETH is not worthy to mine at this time, even with their cheap power. If ETH gains enough acceptance there will be GPU mines popping up all over China. That is if ETH doesn't self destruct first by moving over to PoW mining.

LOL, no. Chinese knew from the start that ETH is worthy of mining and will be profitable because of pump and dumps it has but they are always looking for a sure and long term investment not something that works one day and not the other.
and no i am not talking about the blockchain congestion and wallet failure. not even about all the bugs and hacks.
i am talking about the difficulty bomb (booby trap) that they placed in ethereum in the first couple of months of its release in order to kill mining at some point when they switch to PoS... in other words there is no if about "ETH self destructing" the code is already there Smiley
1942  Economy / Speculation / Re: Vote on price in 24 hours on: July 20, 2017, 12:44:57 PM
I'm noob but still I believe (or want to) that it will drop back to 2-2.2k levels in next hour.

meanwhile BitcoinHodler looks like this:
1943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase and GDAX reject JihanCoin, price reacts positively on: July 20, 2017, 12:32:35 PM
meh, this rise is only about the fact that FUD vanished from the market and then with every block that is mined we get 1 step closer to activation of SegWit and now we are nearing the time when FOMO kicks in.
the latest candle shows a small sign of this FOMO with its sharp rise about $100
1944  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ethereum $110 million hack; Will we see another rollback and ETC.2? on: July 20, 2017, 12:13:26 PM
guys I am a nub, who is affected from the hack? I have my eth on a Mist Wallet on my PC. Can my ETH be stolen aswell? I also got 10 ETC on Bittrex do I have to worry them getting stolen too?
I would be awesome if someone can clarify what exactly can be hacked and what not?!
thank you

from what i understood, this is the problem with Parity wallet of ethereum project and only in their multisignature wallets not the regular ones.
and if you have a multisignatue wallet there will be an icon in your parity wallet indicating this to you.
(please note that i have never owned ethereum outside of an exchange, i am just saying what i have read online from news and some research).

the dao was no hack, it was a feature.

am i the only one who finds this extremely discomforting!
1945  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do Coin Prices Increase With Difficulty Levels? on: July 19, 2017, 11:33:02 AM
amount of difficulty doesn't change supply or demand so it shouldn't affect anything in my opinion. difficultly just means it is harder to find blocks (it will take longer with the same hashpower as before) but there will still be same number of blocks, same reward, same supply and same sell pressure from the miners.

however difficulty may have some indirect effect. for example when an altcoin has low difficulty and is easy to mine and profitable, many will do it and because of that many will start talking about it everywhere and hyping the coin. and altcoin market moves with hype more than anything else. it may be possible that low difficulty and ease of mining can lead to higher prices.

and that may also be the reason why when people can't mine a coin anymore as easy as before they dump all they have and prices go lower.
(mostly my guesses though)
1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 'Ethereum Co-Founder Says Crypto Coin Market Is a Time-Bomb' on: July 19, 2017, 11:24:55 AM
Quote
“People say ICOs are great for ethereum because, look at the price, but it’s a ticking time-bomb,” Charles Hoskinson, who helped develop ethereum, said in an interview. “There’s an over-tokenization of things as companies are issuing tokens when the same tasks can be achieved with existing blockchains. People are blinded by fast and easy money.”

nice face-saving technique!

practically anyone with a slightest experience in this market knew that ethereum price is a pumped up fake rise because of the ICOs and it is a bubble. and now finally when ethereum has lost more than half its value and is struggling to stay up they admit it...
1947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is block version: 0x30000000 ? on: July 19, 2017, 11:16:04 AM
0x20000010 & 0x20000012 = Segwit2x / BIP91 deployment

correction:
0x20000010 = SegWit2x (BIP91)
0x20000012 = SegWit2x (BIP91) AND SegWit (BIP141).

sorry i don't know the answer to your main question.
1948  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tribute to HODL originator by mistake. on: July 19, 2017, 11:06:23 AM
Theres something about this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0 way back in 2013, it has actually gone viral because of the HODL misspelt. i'll say the poster GameKyuubi actually created this cryptocurrency term which is amazing.
funny thing,GameKyuubi doesn't seem to be around anymore in the forum with the number of Posts and Activity he has.

[somebody said the magic word and i appeared]

bro, you need to do some more research before posting Smiley
he is in fact around and actually made a HODL 2.0 topic recently. i know it because i was the first there... haha. it seems like it didn't get as much attention as it got back there but it will be history in a couple of years when we look back at the $2000 and either laugh how cheap it was or cry because we missed it

1949  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Big Blockers to Fork Off, THANK GOD on: July 19, 2017, 10:53:38 AM
Segwit2x is the biggest problem, since it's a direct attempt to takeover Bitcoin, other forks are a smoke screen to scare people from potential forks (all this FUD that Bitcoin will crash if there will be split), while presenting Segwit2x as true Bitcoin. The real fight will be when miners with their 85% hashing power will fork into 2mb blocks in November, I hope people won't get themselves fooled.
So, the REAL BTC will be that BTC with most hashrate power?

not exactly. things aren't as simple as that. so you can't say big hashpower has the most power and small hashpower has the least or no power.
there are a lot of factors that will play a role in this.
the high hashpower helps a lot because it is securing the chain against splitting, 51% attacks, etc.
but as i said other factors such as nodes on the network which are crucial, exchanges to list these and then the price that will be decided on these exchanges, and finally one of the important ones: merchants. which one they choose can easily change a lot of things. and in fact splitting bitcoin, or even threat of splitting can mean they stop using bitcoin for good no matter what happens! so it may end up being a lose-lose scenario instead of one side winning...
1950  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy now... or on July 31st? on: July 18, 2017, 11:25:18 AM
It is not advised to buy on July 31st, may be a day before that or two. You need to have all your stash on a wallet but segwit. The price will definitely rise and it'll be a new life for all the Bitcoiners here. Buy as early as possible and hold them well.
It is best to buy before July31 though we cannot predict the price of bitcoin. These past few days bitcoin has downtrend and today it seems recovering. I dont know if this is stable or what but the fluctuation is normal. So when dump buy if you have funds and hold.
Don't let some trap recovery price make you buying and take loss, use your brain and analysic mentality of trader on market in some days. They are scared status SegWit2x and only when have some good news about SegWit2x can success, they going to buy very fast but this not is stable, just temporary and can't helps the price of Bitcoin can recovery at now!

LOL, we may not be 100% sure about the outcome of August 1st but with every day that passes we become a little more sure. for example ever since miners started signalling their support for SegWit yesterday the certainty increased greatly and that is why price also went up this much.

in a couple of days as the % increases and SegWit becomes "locked in" there is no doubt about anything since there won't be any return and it will activate with majority of miners.

now you can see this as an opportunity to buy before the big rise or you can see this as a "trap". that is your choice, but it doesn't change any of the facts stated.
1951  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Good or stupid idea? on: July 18, 2017, 11:13:00 AM
it depends on the coin really! you can't treat all the coins the same way. some coins are worth holding on to because they may rise in the near future and meanwhile some coins must not be held at any cost, you must dump them as soon as there is a recovery because there is little to no hope for their additional rise.

you have to try and figure out which category your coins belong to and treat them accordingly.
1952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: More good news for litecoin on: July 18, 2017, 11:05:24 AM
i have entered LTC long term game now. i have been accumulating and am now a BTC-LTC HODLer.
although i sold some when bitcoin bottomed out and started reversing to be able to make some little profit in case LTC dropped due to bitcoin rise. which has starting now.

but with SegWit on both chains, these can become twins in crypto world to take the market in hand and advance forward. i hope we can see some more merchant adoption for LTC too. that will greatly help the future of this coin.
1953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where are those hardcore ETH believers now? on: July 18, 2017, 10:58:30 AM
the paycheck only comes during the pumps not during the crashes and when price is getting dumped hard there is no reason for the "advertisers" to advertise anything, it will crash nonetheless.

and ethereum has been a series of bad news after bad news for the past month.
the network congestion
exchanges closing down wallets
ICOs cashing out
Developer clearly saying he has no faith in the project on twitter
bubble bursting
panic sellers....
1954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pain realizing early stupidity on: July 18, 2017, 10:50:18 AM
Wow these are 2011 posts.. . those days buying 100btc wasn't a big deal.
I saw Gavin Andresen comment too

i think Gavin was talking about himself Cheesy
he was running a bitcoin faucet that was giving away something like 3 bitcoins per claim....
1955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH - Next Support at $150, expecting $520 after a reversal on: July 16, 2017, 11:55:08 AM
$520!! are you freaking kidding me! Cheesy
a high price and sustaining that high price needs real utilities. there are none for ethereum!

ICO scams are not real world applications. they are temporary pumps.
1956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver holds around 300k bitcoins worth $750 Million and wants the fork on: July 16, 2017, 11:32:58 AM
If I own a large number of Bitcoins, and Bitcoin.com,  that means I'm financially motivated to do everything I can to improve the value of those assets.
This is unlike Adam Back, the CEO of Blockstream, who by his own admission, and despite having known about Bitcoin for about 5 years due to being contacted by Satoshi himself in 2008, he didn't own a single Bitcoin himself in April of 2013.  I doubt he has many bitcoins now either.

all this talk and drama aside, to be honest sometimes you two camps seem more like two kids pulling at a doll that each wants to play with alone.
the fear is that you are going to tear this doll apart in the end and each go play with some new dolls.

you can see the "tear" starting already...
1957  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: post august 1 on: July 16, 2017, 11:20:46 AM
1. Will the BTC disappear completely during first week of August?
no, bitcoin is too big to disappear just like that.
and where you invested $100, others have invested couple of millions of dollar, for example miners. and nobody want's that.

Quote
2. On what category the present BTC will fall- will it be the soft fork version or the newly forked one after SegWit2x update ? Which will have high demand/price- soft version or hard fork version ??
soft fork is the SegWit2x first step, there are not two different things. it is activating what UASF is looking for.
if it activated there will be 1 bitcoin soft forked from the current version activating SegWit.
the hard fork is another story not to happen for another 6 months after this first step and will only happen if it gains support.

Quote
3. Read from major reviewers that BTC will reach the moon after a week after SegWit2x ?? How is it justified ?? For sure the update will take at least 3 to 4 months to probate ?? What's your views on it ?
as i said the first step is activating the same thing as it was planned for years. and if it activates SegWit successfully price may rise again.

Quote
4. Is it safe to keep BTC (if bought at high prices), hoping for the best Huh ? Or it will be a huge loss to keep btc since you are very sure that BTC will not reach 3000 $ again Huh ?
5. Will BTC go to the price it was before i.e. 5 months which later went 4X times ??
stop looking for making more $$$
1958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Node per user ratio on: July 16, 2017, 11:12:47 AM
those 7-8K nodes are only reachable nodes that 21.co can access and they are accepting incoming and outgoing connections at the same time.

there are a lot more nodes that are listening, which are downloading the blockchain and holding a full copy and verifying,... they are just not on that list you linked.
1959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [GBYTE] Byteball Speculation on: July 15, 2017, 12:30:35 PM
the dump was very interesting today. it seems like everyone had their watches set on a couple of hours before the distribution to dump.

what do we think here?
i am waiting for a bottom to pick some additional bytes for HODLing. don't know where the bottom is for now though.

There were 2 dumps - One initially after the snapshot was taken (GB holders hoping to catch in on cheaper byteballs)
And the second one after the distribution took place.
In either case, we should wait for the dust to settle down before we look at the market cap of byteball.

i've decided to wait more. and this wait meant i finally invested all i had on bittrex in litecoin!
i am still watching Byteball though. this coin really interests me and i want to invest in it but as you said i have to wait for the dust to settle and i think it has not yet. i'll probably wait for bitcoin's fate to be determined and price rise to start them invest in it. since bitcoin fall seems to be taking altcoins down with it!
1960  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I put all my BTC and ETH to XRP (Ripple) on: July 15, 2017, 12:23:09 PM
I put all my BTC and ETH to XRP (Ripple)
- marketcap from 114 billion to 74 billion.

I think my btc and eth getting a huge dump the following weeks.

https://steemit.com/ripple/@boxxl/why-i-m-not-selling-my-ripple-xrp

BTC is down only 33% from it's ATH, whereas ETH and XRP are down 55-60% from it's ATH. Other alt's are down 60-70% from their respective ATH's. BTC is the biggest gainer here. You should have hodl'ed your BTC.

i don't know why everyone is trying to keep LTC under the rug Cheesy
i have been watching it for the past few days and it is holding itself up pretty nicely. the price is still near the ATH (0.022) and it is currently at 0.019BTC

i don't know about OP but other altcoins have nothing going on for them. they are just the same altcoins that they were before. only for speculation. and are already pumped.
but litecoin has a lot going for it. with the SegWit, LN and the atomic swap things are looking pretty awesome in my opinion.

and before you guess it, i have invested all my trading funds in LTC and sold all the rest of the altcoins.
