How does creating a new thread help?  If they didn't see other threads than no one will see this one either....  Tongue

I wasn't being entirely serious Cheesy. I'm sure some would see it, but others wouldn't, and they wont even bother to read or search first any way.
19602  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BEWARE eBay bitcoin scam artist Tim Trickett (trick506) on: December 07, 2013, 01:48:00 PM
Can someone link me to one of his listings, or are they private now? Are you sure he didn't just list a bitcoin paper wallet (with no funds on)? I've seen people on ebay buy Xbox one Boxes for £300 because they didn't read the listing properly.

Did anyone get their money back? It's always interesting to see how ebay/paypal deals with these cases. Usually they find in the buyers favour with anything to do with digital currencies.
19603  Other / Meta / Re: I have over 33,000 bitcoins. on: December 07, 2013, 01:39:58 PM
I had posted here with joke about sending BTC to my BTC address in my profile.

and this post was deleted,  Just want to know why and was it the OP that deleted this post.

and probably this post will be deleted also, fuck knows why???

Maybe a mod considered it begging? You should get a message when it's deleted. This thread is not self-moderated, so it was probably a mod.

Where art thou oh saviors of bitcoin?? I need some assurance!!  Huh

I put in all my savings a few weeks ago when BTC was $680... it almost doubled and now im back in the negative and it's falling FAST!! Should I panic? Anyone selling?

My gut tells me to just hold it but I have the worst luck with money and investing so i dunno... Im afraid im gonna lose everything like I did in the stock market. Im sooo glad i didnt invest my dad's money in it. Fuck what the hell is going on?? I wish Max would talk about bitcoins again Sad

If its savings then presumably its money you dont need right now. Think of it as a savings plan with a 2-5 year lock in. Over this time frame if btc succeeds you'll be minted. Dont dont dont panic sell on the 1 st sign of a correction.

Yup, I don't really need it right now and I wanted to take a chance of it growing in the next year or two. Thanks for the advice everyone. I wasn't planning to sell anyway. I'm in the new wave of BTC owners so this is my first "crash" but i've learned enough by now that this happens and a sure way to lose is to sell at a loss. I still have hopes of BTC reaching a new height in 2014.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance

Who are the "Winkelvass" twins?

Those russian twins from that movie The Social Network

They're American, not Russian.

They looked Russian in the movie... maybe their ancestors were

Ah, that's racist lol. And they were played by an American actor in the movie, but according to IMDB he is of "Russian Jewish, Russian, English, Scots-Irish, and remote Cherokee descent".
19605  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If confirmation takes 10 minutes, how will I buy coffee at Starbucks? on: December 07, 2013, 01:32:17 PM
flat-tax also increase inequalities:

1000$ a month with a 20% tax: you already have     difficulty to pay for your food, goods, appartment
10000$ a month with a 20% tax: you           have no difficulty to live

In some countries, you have a progressive system:

poor : no tax
lower class: small percentage
midle : normal
high: high percentage

So everyone can live without being strangled.

Take a look at poverty rate in some liberal countries with the flat-tax.

I don't believe you should pay income taxes unless you earn over a certain amount. The poor and those on part time / minimum wage would not pay any taxes. They would also get cuts on other things, like the poor already do. The tax brackets you suggested is what happens in most countries and is only fair if the percentages are fair. No tax brackets/system will ever be perfect, but I don't agree with millionaires having to pay 70% like in some countries; that's just ridiculous and complete robbery.

Well, people are still buying things with it. In fact, in the longrun I think you could probably argue that it is undervalued. The more and more merchants start accepting it the more valuable it will become. All it'll take is one big company to start accepting it and boom. Gradual or quick mainstream acceptance will push the price up vastly. Let's see what the price of 1BTC is and what it can get you in a years time. Only time will tell on this one. I'm looking forward to the ride.

No, it is not undervalued if the merchants don't accept it right now. Such mode of "reasoning" is called wishful thinking - "an attitude or belief that something you want to happen will happen though it may not happen or unlikely to happen at all". With such volatility I doubt strongly it will occur any time soon if ever ("one big company to start accepting it and boom")...

But merchants do accept it. Such mode of "reasoning" is more optimism than wishful thinking. As I said, only time will tell and I'm enjoying the ride.

You can provide as much detail on your character as you wish, but without deals or transactions to back it up it's worthless. Also, being a Christian means nothing. Most of the evil and greed in this world is committed by Christians. You can quote altruistic passages from the bible all day, but I can also quote ones that sanction murder, genocide, rape and slavery, so please don't get your morality from these kind of books.

If you're serious about offering escrows, build up some rep by successfully selling stuff on the marketplace and doing trades yourself. Once people have done trades with you they will be more likely to use you in the future and may wish to use you as an escrow for a deal they are doing since they will know you are trustworthy.

Alright. Thanks for the reply. But calm down... I am not hoping that being a christian would help but it's just something about myself. I personally think that telling me these:
Quote
sanction murder, genocide, rape and slavery
will help me because Im not using my morality here, but it's just an overview of me...

Thanks

Fair enough. I'm just offering my opinion. There are lots of people who feel the same way as I do here. However, maybe there is somebody here who would like to deal with you based on your Christianity. However, I will say there have been a few scams where people have used their supposed religiosity as if to appear legitimate and trustworthy, so people are often sceptical of people who try to use religion as a character reference without anything else to back it up. Just my 0.02BTC  Cheesy
19609  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will be destroyed by early adopters on: December 07, 2013, 11:44:30 AM
Actually i think that is fairly inevitable since bitcoin is far too overvalued currently.
A drop to more sane levels and trending steadily upwards afterwards via organic growth instead of speculation would be a lot healthier imho.

Overvalued in what way? It's only value is in what people are prepared to pay, Sounds like you just want to catch a cheap ride on the bitcoin train back up.

Though what you say may look logical, this logic is still rather questionable. Overvalued means a bubble here, very simple to grasp really. Bubble means there is no real demand for Bitcoin, just speculative one. We can take a real estate bubble as an evident example where people would buy houses to only sell further at higher price, not for the sake of living in. It may actually turn out that 90% of Bitcoin price is pure speculation...

Well, people are still buying things with it. In fact, in the longrun I think you could probably argue that it is undervalued. The OP hasn't been active for the last 24 hours or so and his twitter account is deleted. This thread was almost definitely a scam.

No shit. I bet he got at least some people to send him money too.

Stock markets and economies crash yet I don't hear them complaining about fiat currencies. So cryptos took a dive; they'll be back up soon.
19613  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't sell your bitcoins while it's falling! on: December 07, 2013, 10:48:33 AM
Just curious then,

Where do you see bitcoins in the next 2 years?

and

What is going to happen to the other currencies such as NMC and LTC?

Bitcoin will become worth a billion each. NMC and LTC will be worth millions each.

Don't take investment tips from people on the internet. Any advice on the price will be pure speculation and probably biased.

They're disabled, get over it.

Ha. There's always like 5 topics on the first page alone. Might be a good idea to sticky a topic: AVATARS ARE CURRENTLY DISABLED.

If you sell now you will have definitely lost money. Ride it out. Only fools panic-sell. They are largely responsible for this 'crash'.

We shouldn't be celebrating crony capitalism.  Regulations and taxes that are selectively enforced against smaller competitors to the mega-corps are not better than regulations and taxes that apply to everyone.
Right, and the answer is to end the regulations and taxes.

The problem with uneven oppression is not that certain people aren't oppressed enough.

So you don't believe in taxes? Personally, I believe in a flat-tax; whether you earn £20k or £20 billion you pay the same percentage of tax. Successful people shouldn't be penalised for making money (anything over 50% is robbery), but the poor shouldn't be raped of the little they have either. I believe in taxes for building schools, roads and hospitals etc; not laundering tax-payers money into large corporations and the funding the war machine.
