Then we should simply wait for the next optimism+ phases to sell, I guess?
THIS Cheesy
1983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $20 again on: August 05, 2011, 11:49:28 PM

DNA testing also came about in the 80s, blossomed to full capability in the 90s and is used extensively today. Should we expect the average person to not understand that either? The world changes, sometimes fast sometimes slow, it's important for people of all ages to keep up with at least the most dramatic and important of those changes, or at least put in the effort. The correct answer for the computer illiterate is not "I don't know and I'm OK with that" - the correct answer is "I don't know, so maybe I should learn."

To make sure I'm 100% clear: I don't expect everyone to be a computer whiz, I'm questioning the societal attitude that allows them to simply not try.

Whoa now fella...you think the average person does understand DNA testing? Maybe they have a concept of the end result from what they saw on television, but they have no fucking clue what is actually happening. This is perhaps the stupidest analogy I have ever seen drawn.

It is completely unnecessary to interact with computers on a personal level on a day to day basis. Ask anyone's grandparents. The social attitude that allows them to 'simply not try' is that they will be dead before it matters. My grandpa didn't wear a seatbelt his whole fucking life, amassed dozens of tickets for it, and died without ever having regularly used one, despite everyone who knew him trying their hardest to convince him that it was the simplest thing you could do to protect yourself. That was just a seatbelt. You think he was going to be picking up 'googling' just because of your 17-year-old self-righteous indignation?
"They" don't think any of this is cool Cheesy...

“critical shortage of investigators with the knowledge and expertise to analyze the ever increasing amounts of potential digital evidence.”

This is the field to specialize in right here guys  Grin. I think there will be a huge spike in digital forensics in the near future.

We need modern socialism to reign in all the stupid Republican ideology. Libertarians I'm sorry but your ideology is just as bad as communism, and almost always leads to an aristocratically led government where the most wealthiest citizens rule over all. That is what we are seeing now and it's literally erasing the middle class right before our very eyes. Republicans,Tea Baggers, and some Libertarians rather see total collapse of the American way of life by pulling the plug on elderly people (getting rid of Medicare) , taking college away from potential students(cutting financial aide & federal grants) , taking away new roads and bridges (causing collapses, and national tragedy's), and over all making our country stupider by feeding our less privileged citizens more mistruths and lies than the eye can see. All this while some of the richest people in the world (Many Forbes 500 Billionaires) pay some of the LOWEST income taxes in the world, and not only that but hire teams of lawyers to evade even MORE in taxes. The Republicans number one goal since Obama has been elected is to make him a ONE TERM PRESIDENT.

It took you a total of 9 words before you started the name calling. Any argument made by insulting the opposing side of the shows you have no basis in your claims. You continued with almost an insult per sentence.

Instead of insults what is your answer? Do you want black booted storm troopers busting down Gate's home and taking his wealth to give it to those below a certain income? Is the answer to tax those that have made themselves a success at over 50% and give that money to others in some magical hope that by doing so those people will somehow become middle class? We had a 50% tax, it lead to the crisis during the Carter years which I take it you were not around for.
Sick and tired of dealing with the other side. They have done enough damage thank you sir...

EDIT: By the way I love how you throw these numbers around like they mean anything. The rich right now are paying 35% at the very top marginal rate. However these people do so much trickery with their money that they end up usually paying less than some of their very own employees. It doesn't matter though, the rich are against ANY type of reforms whether they're tax increases or closing loopholes, they like it just the way it is right now, and if only they could cut even more, things would be "better".
1986  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will reach 5-6 dollars within 1-2 months on: August 05, 2011, 06:58:30 AM
Hehheh - I thought $19.5/ BTC was a steal when I started doing  this!  I'm continuing because I recognize the potential, NOT because I made any cash back the first time around!
Good attitude, we are all early adopters now. If the real early adopters show some support we will see some real rocket-ship style rallying.

The Real GOP Priority? Deny Obama A Second Term

Elections matter you guys. I know most of you stayed home in 2010 since it was a midterm, half of you probbaly didn't even know what was going on... But the Republicans took solid control of the house of representatives, and they have literally held America hostage up till this point. And you guys wonder why the DOW drops 500 points in one day? I'm sorry I am not a conspiracy theorist, this is the reality that we are living in, and someone deserves the blame for this. They have repeatedly disrespected our President, and the subtle underlying thinly veiled racism seems to show up in every meeting (Eric Cantor interrupting the President). The attitudes that have been displayed by the other side have been an unbearable experience to take in. The people of my generation need to wake up, before its to late... The answers don't lie in youtube videos made by lobying firms like the Heritage Foundation put out to make Obama look like the devil himself.

We are def in rally mode right now, we hit unprecedented lows, and miners are starting to get the hang of trading...

lol..pretty stagnant rally  Roll Eyes
Where do you think our bottom lies?
1989  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wowww What a ride! $8.10 at TH, $10.12 at MtGox! on: August 05, 2011, 05:42:55 AM
Good thing everyone but me is a bull, otherwise I'd be looking at a real bloodbath.  Me, I'll continue selling as quickly as my hardware mines until I see a solid uptrend though, I don't see any reason to ditch the bear skin yet.
If everyone thought like you we would be at $1 by now. Why do you think your money is worthless?

I am serious when I ask you this.
1990  Economy / Speculation / Re: Time to buy on the MyBitcoin News? on: August 05, 2011, 05:41:51 AM
What's the rush?  If the bulls were going to drive this back to 14 they'd have done it by now.  I suspect we'll be in a 10-11 trading range for a bit before drifting lower.

In other words, 11 is the new 14.

A bit upset I missed the 14 this weekend for dumping, but them's the breaks.  Selling what I mined at 11 because I'm sure I'll get more at 8-9.  Or even 5-6.  Too many bulls around, this is nowhere near capitulation needed before we have the next runup.  I think we have another month or two of slow pain before then.

We are def in rally mode right now, we hit unprecedented lows, and miners are starting to get the hang of trading...
1991  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [Scheduled Hack-A-Thon] RSVP Here to have a hack at my upcomming website. on: August 05, 2011, 05:25:29 AM

1992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for "Tom Williams"'s capture on: August 05, 2011, 12:50:16 AM
Bruce if you get a serious bounty going I will donate 10+ BTC so we can hire a private investigator and get to the bottom of this...
Spend the bounty hiring a private investigator? Surely it would make more sense to pay a private investigator using some other high risk investment pool, with the benefactors claiming the bounty. Spending the bounty before Tom is found is not a good idea for the community IMO, unless it's an investigation pool rather than a bounty on his head.
Obviously we are talking about an investigation pool. Bounty shouldn't be the word that we should frame this money as. We just want justice as a community, and want Tom Williams to at-least explain to us what happened. All we have is a signed pgp message and a flaky explanation. But yes I am all for donating to the investigation of the case of Tom Williams and MyBitcoin.
1993  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for "Tom Williams"'s capture on: August 05, 2011, 12:35:30 AM
I will hold the Bitcoin for a Bounty.

Would you guys be happy if I use my brand new http://BitBills.com Bank Card?   It's totally offline.    Is that secure enough for you all?

If not, I'll get a more secure offline system set up with security guys here to witness it's setup.

Bruce if you get a serious bounty going I will donate 10+ BTC so we can hire a private investigator and get to the bottom of this...

Looks like the "right" name is already taken:

http://bitcoinforum.com/
My forum has all the features I hear every person in here complain about day in and day out..

So I registered, made a post...but it has to be approved by a moderator BEFORE it is posted?

I predict failure.
Are you talking about Tweetforum or Bitcoinforum? I apologize for causing confusion but I was talking about TweetForum in my post not BitcoinForum. BitcoinForum is not mine...

LOL! Sorry for the confusion. I was talking about BitCoinForum.com.

I don't tweet. Signed up way back, but just don't "get it".
Tweet Forum , is just like this forum. Except it tweets all your posts automatically so you don't even have to learn Twitter to use it Smiley. I made this for people just like yourself, please take a look when you get a chance. I am also paying people .25btc for every 100 posts, and will be doing many different community programs to supplement the community and invigorate conversation. You don't have to sign up for anything, just make a forum account and start posting ! Thank you!

Anyone putting more than a couple of bucks in a technology which is in early beta and based upon encryption that's going to be obsolete in four years is nuts.
You're a liar.

Bitcoins security mechanism can be upgraded at any time... It is SHA 256 at the moment because that is current industry standard.

1998  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $20 again on: August 04, 2011, 04:06:56 PM
but the crash is due to people realizing bitcoins have no purpose and hence no value unless you are a drug user who prefers online transactions.  If the market were more liquid, I could see bitcoins having some value to investors, but judging by the recent lack of depth on the buyside, this is clearly not the case.
