I'm very close to backing out of this whole thing too (atleast until rapid, user-friendly, trustworthy Bitcoin services come online).

I've been too afraid to buy a single mBTC because of all the stories of hacking and scams I've read on here.

It's very daunting for sure, but if you read enough about wallets and security on here you'll have yourself covered pretty well.
19822  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to buy bc with paypal? on: December 05, 2013, 05:26:59 PM
Im going to start selling btc/ltc for paypal as soon as gain enough reputation around here.

How do you plan on avoiding chargebacks?
Iv been selling on other large forums already, chargebacks are easy to deal with through phonecalls.
Tip: Paypal does not cover virtual items.

Yeah, and that's why they'll issue a chargeback to the buyer without warning or investigating. I bought all my coins via paypal when I first started with cryptos so I know it's possible to make good money, but it's only a matter of time before you get scammed.
19823  Other / Off-topic / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto, person of the year 2013? on: December 05, 2013, 05:18:47 PM
Well the Satoshi guy surely loves suspense. When is he gonna show himself ?

Maybe he's dead if he hasn't spent any of his coins. Seems a little odd.

I don't find it odd at all. I don't think that a pure genious like satoshi has any need to sell his coins and buy a boat or a ferrari.
Also i don't think that he want's to give the impression that bitcoin is a pump and dump scheme. If he sells his coins many haters will claim that.

No, but he has to eat, and when you become a billionaire it's hard not to spend a little of your cash no matter how unmaterialistic he may or may not be.

I guess he is eating the same things he was eating before bitcoins. I can't see how anyone can spend the billions of dollars satoshi owns in food or in anything else whatsoever.

Give a tramp a million dollars and see if he still eats food from bins. Give me a million dollars and see if I ever eat Ramen noodles ever again. I never said he has to spend them all, but his money is sitting in wallets doing nothing.

If somebody gave you or anybody else billions I'd find it odd if you or they just kept it in a bank and did nothing with it.

How do you guys want me to prove I am a real girl?

No need to prove, I believe you.

There you go, thinking with your dick again. Remind me again why you're on bitcointalk and not some bitcoin cam-girl site?

19825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch the tracking of the sheep marketplace thief in real time on: December 05, 2013, 05:08:32 PM
The reddit postings answer most of these questions. The guy is pretty much screwed. He has been tumbling, but best bet would be to mix a very small amount of the coins through some alts, get enough cash to live quietly for a few years, and leave the bulk of the coins alone. He would be better off to give them away, and hope that he can live.

He's screwed because by now there is probably no way the btc could be returned. He's screwed because he has presumably pissed off some people that won't hesitate to interrogate him slowly. Since this sum is an aggregate of many people, even if someone physically catches up with him and beats the private keys out of him, that next party will be the target.

Unless he can quietly disappear, he will be found in a ditch eventually.

Could he not just return them? It's an interesting story to follow for sure. All I know is this guy isn't ever going to be able to spend many of the coins at all.

That these hidden drug websites sell ADHD medication for which you otherwise need a prescription?

Yes, they do. They sell all sorts. I've seen acne cream and antidepressants on them. They also sell Kinder Eggs and alpaca socks.
19827  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The future to BITCOIN on: December 05, 2013, 05:01:33 PM
I would advise against giving OP any money, probably a scam.

Probably is probably an understatement  Grin.
19828  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I'm Out on: December 05, 2013, 04:59:49 PM
Well I've tried but find it all much to complicated and am afraid of making mistakes.

I'm disappointed but somewhat comforted that the trends forecaster Martin Armstrong, doesn't believe Bitcoin has a future. Doubtless we will all be going digital in a few years or less (and paying our taxes on it!). Until then farewell, and enjoy while you may.

BTC right now is currently worth nearly $1000 exactly. Remember this post and come back in a year. I hope you don't regret it, but I'll bet money you will. Bitcoin can be daunting, but it's simple enough once you get used to it. I reckon it'll be worth persevering, but who knows?

Bitcoin is not paper money, so it fails the "especially circulating paper money" test.

Paperwallets. Suppose you could argue about it not being produced by a mint or bank or whatever, but if I have a paperwallet with 1BTC on it and somebody accepts it for 1BTC worth of stuff, then I think it falls under the definition of papermoney.

I wonder what this kind of crime falls under legally? I mean, he stole dirty coins from a blackmarket site. Are the police after him?

Well... the police can investigate only if someone makes a complaint... right? And the complainant has to be a Czech citizen as well.

The site was illegal... who is going to file the complaint?

I don't know if the website is illegal per se, but 99% of the stuff it sells is haha. Maybe somebody who just used it to buy kinder eggs or alpaca socks could file a complaint.

I wonder if it was this guys intent to steal coins all along, or did the power/greed just corrupt him? At least owners of other sites will probably think twice about stealing now.

Hello , I tried to upload an avatar and it just doesnt work. I tried this on a mac and on a windows. Is this a bug that needs fixed ?

There's several threads about this on the first page of this forum. Read one of 'em.
19834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Watch the tracking of the sheep marketplace thief in real time on: December 05, 2013, 04:15:49 PM
i posted it a few days ago in a different thread.. his name was tomas something, and he had a picture of himself grabbing a girl's tit. for your information, his gf had a pretty nice rack  Cheesy

Detective AJAX reporting, did you mean this guy?
The one on the left has a bigger rack IMO  Grin

Good job Ajax!

Now things are clearer... He probably stole those coins to get himself a breast reduction surgery.  Grin

Well he's got the money for it now. He's gonna have to change his appearance or disappear completely. Fatty better get running.

19835  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks should embrace bitcoin on: December 05, 2013, 04:12:32 PM
We don't need the banks any more. There'll be some that embrace cryptos - some people would just rather somebody else looks after their money.

You know that banks usually work by doing both deposits and loans. Give me the crypto solution for that.

Yup. Somebody will create a bitcoin bank, I'm sure of it. I'm sure there'll be a few scam ones too, but I reckon it's only a matter of time before a big bank has a crack at it. I'm sure they're all monitoring the markets very closely and trying to work out what the fuck they're gonna do. I'm also betting they're sweating a bit.
19836  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to buy bc with paypal? on: December 05, 2013, 03:54:34 PM
Thank you so much for your information, so is there any direct way to sell bitcoin safely?

Thought you wanted to buy? There are many ways to buy and sell coins safely. Exchanges or users on here, but use a reputable escrow agent.
19837  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Pain to buy bitcoins in UK on: December 05, 2013, 03:44:11 PM

How well does advertising work?

Thanks for the tip on selling services, I'll take a look at the forum.

You put an advert in your signature and get paid on how many posts you make.
19838  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to buy bc with paypal? on: December 05, 2013, 03:41:47 PM
I am curious about this, Can anyone please help me?

Yes, but you'll be very lucky to find people here who will sell you coins for PP because of possible chargebacks. If you want to use PP to buy coins, buy from ebay, but be prepared to pay a premium.
19839  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is a money or currency? on: December 05, 2013, 03:39:41 PM
Money is currency. BTC is already money & a currency.
19840  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A friend's idea to promote on: December 05, 2013, 03:27:51 PM
There are no women on this site. Just guys pretending to be them.  Tongue

You think she's a middle-aged, bearded, beer-drinking biker, or even worse, a programmer?

Eeewww if you are going to pass me for a guy at least make me a nice one, no?

How do you guys want me to prove I am a real girl?

And btw, girls are smart too we can figure out BTC too. And although people sending me BTC would be nice that was not the point for this post. I thought it was fun Wink

Timestamped pics then.

Even those can be faked, or it's just some guy pimping out a girl or whatever, as we saw recently.

How do you guys want me to prove I am a real girl?

No need to prove, I believe you.

Based on what exactly?
