19981  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trading alternative currencies! on: November 30, 2013, 03:25:24 PM
Hey, you should really try to trade alternative currencies at cryptsy, just look at this site http://coinmarketcap.com/ , almost every coin went up ridiculous amount

All coins have been rising for the past few months, but they have taken a massive leap the past few days / earlier in the week.

And why quark coin?

Cos Keiser pimped it out and now everyone's flocking to get it.
19982  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Got an email from 'MtGox Team' - I'm not even signed up with MtGox on: November 30, 2013, 03:16:17 PM
I bet you mentioned @MtGox in a tweet!

Nope, but I did retweet somebody who used the hastag #bitcoin.

Ha that may be enough these days! Maybe someone somewhere in the thread mentioned @MtGox?

Nope, not that I can see, but the user I retweeted has lots of tweets about bitcoin. Still slightly paranoid about this lol.
19983  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you also root for human disasters in near future so bitcoin price will rise? on: November 30, 2013, 02:40:13 PM
Well this thread is a bit... nihilistic.

only sickos wish for tragedies to occur simply so the value of their assets rise ...

Op, maybe you could buy some shares in arms firms or profit from economic unstainability in war-torn third world countries  Cool

I doubled my investment in FTC already. But I don't know how long it'll last. Not investing a significant amount for a long term.

I've also done well with FTC.

I've been backing/buying it from 12 cents. I reckon it's only gonna go upwards from here. Bittylicious are trading it sometime next month.

19985  Economy / Economics / Re: My brother suggest me to cash 50% out before the banksters ban crypto coins on: November 30, 2013, 01:30:50 PM
They can't ban cryptos, and if they ban exchanges, deals will just be made in cash or in escrow on boards like this. What you do with your coins is up to you, but don't just blindly take advice or somebody else even if he is a lawyer.

I'm from belgium. Small pattatoland

haha this made me laugh for some reason.
19986  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-11-27 Guardian: 7,500 Bitcoins thrown in bin on: November 30, 2013, 01:09:37 PM
Well , I don't either but it is possible.
The easy way to find out the truth is to find the drive or to have him under the polygraph.

The polygraph doesn't work - http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Polygraph. How hard would it be to find the unspent coins on the blockchain?

Yeah, you not seen Homeland? Wink

Why do you assume this is fake or a scam? Did you read my topic even?
Don`t trash up my topic to get posts.

The escrow will have acces to my account and thus have acces to the bitcoins, look at the pictures I already have currency at this website. I am more at risk that the person who is investing.

I'm not assuming it's fake or a scam or trying to "get posts", I'm just sceptical and a little confused of the specifics of the deal. Yes, I read it. I'm just asking how you personally invest the money if it's tied up in escrow? If I was to invest in this waterproof golden chicken egg I need to be certain it's not a scam. Can you take potential investors through a step-by-step process? Forgive me for being wary, but there are a lot of scammers around.

It`s verry simple.
Buy low and sell high. You buy low at point A. (for me impossible thats why I need you). Sell high at point B. (For you impossible because you dont`t know where and how)
You buy 1 btc at BTC-E for 1000 USD and I sell it for 2800 TL at my local website. ( 2800 TL = 1387 USD) 387 USD profit. (150 for you and 137 USD for me.
I transfer 2800 TL to my bank acount  and make an international wire transfer to you 1150 USD.  Western union also possible, your choice.

To be honest, I don`t really know what escrow is. But I am sure no one will trust me I will do what I promise thats why I am willing to give my account details and the website to a trusted middelman. There he can monitor the whole process.

Reason why I will not scam you.
1. This method is easy but it works. 100% guarantee, almost to good to be true. (there is a monthly limit for about 40.000 USD transactions tho)
Yes I can sell the bitcoin and dont send you your money  however ı will have 1 time 1387 USD, however if I do as promised more people will do trades with me and I will have a steady income.

137 USD might not be much for you, but for me when I exchange it to my local currency it is alot. İts almost the half of the minimum wage here.

Everybody wins

I understand the concept of buying low and selling high, but why is it impossible for you to just do this by yourself and make money?

Escrow is where you send the funds to a third party until the deal has been completed, then that third party releases the funds to you. For example, if I want to invest in this idea, we would need to send my bitcoin to somebody trustworthy to hold on to until I get the profits back from your golden eggs investment, then they would send the money to you and everybody is happy and becomes rich Smiley

I already have Bitcoins to invest, but I don't want to lose them or get scammed. I would love to invest in this because the profits look great, but as you say, it looks too good to be true. Sorry if I'm sceptical but I really don’t want to lose my bitcoins or see others lose theirs. I've been scammed before in the past. I bought some magic beans off ebay earlier this year for 2BTC and when they arrived they were just pieces of rabbit shit painted green so I got burned pretty bad. I also have trust issues as my mother used to sit on me as a child.  Cry

So how can you invest the money if it's in escrow?

Are you interested in becoming an Executive Producer in one of Tom Cruise's upcoming films? If so, you can buy shares here. Guaranteed ONE MILLION DOLLAR RETURN PER BTC. Maybe you can invest some of your profits from this scheme. Maybe you would like to put your earnings into the Islamic Bank of Bitcoin?

Are you in Newcastle?
19991  Other / Meta / Re: A Bitcoin Price Ticker on: November 30, 2013, 10:49:40 AM
I don't see how it would suggest we're only interested in the exchange rate. I suppose there could be an option to turn it on or off, but each to their own I guess.

A news ticker could also be a good idea, maybe announcing stores that now accept BTC/other cryptos.
19992  Economy / Goods / Re: *** Vaporizers / Smoking Accessories / Seeds / Hydroponics for Bitcoin *** on: November 30, 2013, 10:44:54 AM
Do you have a store in the UK and do you have a website other than coingig?
19993  Other / Off-topic / Re: do you think miley cyrus... on: November 30, 2013, 10:35:14 AM
I can confirm that she does indeed have a few satoshis.  However, she also has several million Infinitecoins.

How do the Amazon giftcards work? Are they just codes or something?
19995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need to educate, time to sell bitcoins by the bit? (0.00000001) on: November 30, 2013, 10:28:20 AM

Words get removed added and changed all the time.

Removed from what? I've never heard of words being removed from a dictionary or language. Why would that ever happen?
19996  Economy / Services / Re: [Service Offered] Will order from Amazon for btc, see inside. on: November 30, 2013, 10:25:25 AM
So it turns out that this guy... just fairly earned some BTC ( or maybe ive donated to him, and not only me tbh) and it is sell cheese and milk !

Anyone else had any problems? He's got a PrimeDice sig so I doubt he's going any where soon.
19997  Other / Meta / Re: A Bitcoin Price Ticker on: November 30, 2013, 10:19:17 AM
I would love to see a ticker like they have for  the stock markets for all of the big/popular cryptos scrolling across the top of the screen. Would be a great way to keep track of 'em. Brilliant idea.

Maybe just one line.
19998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hey bitcoiner, how OLD are you? on: November 30, 2013, 05:36:44 AM

19999  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost passphrase for wallet, but have the private keys - how do I resolve? on: November 30, 2013, 05:34:25 AM
You sure you have private keys and not addresses?

Address (note the begins with one and is generally shorter than a private key):
14CD3Ra5yMjWaEA3HTX5nAqvYb8sSjMheJ

Private Key (one format could be in an alternate form):
5KEWNTr5Jsk4H147KkNE2NZTg9zXESU5m6rmibfJQMvMswL6WiZ

If you have private key.
1) Don't share it with anyone.  Access to private key = ownership for all practical intents and purposes.  If you give someone the private key so they can help and they steal your coins they are probably gone.
2) As indicated above you can import the private key into any wallet, even a new QT client wallet, an eWallet, or a different client and gain access to the funds.

If you have the address not the private key then you have nothing. Addresses are public knowledge.  The private key is what allows the owner (and nobody else) to spend/move coins.

Thanks for this information. It'll come in handy.
