21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner]- Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 5000 miners on: March 21, 2018, 10:40:34 PM
Anyone know if I can change the Revenue per month and per day to display in BTC. I don't care about fiat would rather know what's the BTC estimate.

Thanks.

One of our clients has 6 shipping containers buried in his yard all growing weed. You can do some really fancy shit with these containers. Amazes me what a lot of my clients do for a living.

Just sold a bunch of 480/470s for an average of $370 each. Left with 6 polaris cards for sale (let me know if interested). They are 5x sapphire pulse 570 4gb and 1x 580 8 gb HIS. They were used since last May in a dust free environment, undervolted to 875mv.

GPUs: https://ibb.co/eqi0xc
Box: https://ibb.co/nvzjOH

I stopped gpu expansion for now, it's too difficult to find them at a good price. Even my early jan order of 1070tis from a local supplier has yet to arrive. Right now I'm focused on HDD mining. Takes 16 months to payback HDD mining now, but with new proof of capacity coins coming I believe it's viable. Worst case scenario the $150 8tb drives can be liquidated for $120. HDD is low returns, but low value at risk. Unlike GPUs, where a $400 1060 6gb can drop to $150 in value if things go south.

Took 3 weeks and I have 300tb online. Looks like another 6 weeks to get the full 1pb running. An Rx480 it takes 1 day to get 1 drive plotted and optimized. 1950x can do 2 per day.

For anyone who's interested to do HDD, I recommend NOT going for a threadripper build. Go i7 8700 build instead, no gpu needed. Add another rig when needed. The rig cost per drive is similar, total compute power for plotting is similar too. Also don't be like me, connecting 10 drives per usb 3.0 hub. There's new miner software that can scan a 8tb drive in 17 seconds now, limit to 5 drives to prevent read bottlenecks.

Last month I returned 300TB (50 USB drives) from everyone saying what a pita it would be... thinking maybe it's time to reorder them just to play around.

I know you said i7 is better than Threadrippers, but I already have about 20 Rayzen 1700x's do you think those are good enough to plot efficiently?

I'm also wondering can I plot on the 20 different PC's then when they are done plotting, add the drives to 1 actual machine I plan mining on, or is it the PC that you pot the drive on, you have to mine on?

Super interesting stuff.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: February 24, 2018, 02:33:50 AM

I now have 25 1080ti's left

1 btc
5 ltc
.2 bch

and a lot of cash  I will stay in cash for now

Let me get some of that cash!  Cry

I was starting to get cash heavy and pulled the trigger w/a few BTC @ 10k (pulled trigger too early, too excited) then missed the 6500 entry point because I was strapped - liquidated some more assets by that time it was @ 8k but still went all in. In the long run that 15% and 35% gain loss won't matter... but I would have really liked to be priced in at 6500.

Still deciding if I should sell off all the miners or not. Some days it's no, some days I'm all for it. I still like playing with the miners, maybe I'll chop it down to 10 rigs or something. Who knows. Just typing out loud right now.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 50,000$ towards mining hardware... what to buy on: February 24, 2018, 01:55:09 AM
I would start buy learning where the dollar sign goes.

haha. i write my shit like that all the time. just like to do it.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: if you are supposed to pay tax on mining profit how about expenses? on: February 24, 2018, 01:52:20 AM
Someone who isn't me was never going to claim losses if they lost money in crypto so they won't be paying taxes.

Me personally I sold all my equipment 3 years ago and don't own any crypto. I'm investing in Rupees.

2x the licenses

licenses for what exactly? Every machine we run Win10 w/0 activation, it's not needed, at all.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Temperature for mining within a grow tent on: February 16, 2018, 07:06:19 PM
So I have started to my rigs in a grow tent as they made my apartment basically unlivable due to the heat. I currently use two 6' inline fans to pump air out, and a 12K BTU standing AC to pump cold air in it (it's using 15kW!). I was wondering what temperature should i get within the tent. It's at 104F when i seal the tent and ~90F when i don't, basically dissipating the heat into my small one bedroom apartment. Should i use bigger fans? Was thinking of changing to 12' 1060CFM ones instead of 400CFM. Is 104F too high?
Thanks

No, you're not using 15kW dude. Average 12BTU ac uses like 1200-1500 watts, not 15,000 watts.

Also those inline fans need to be pointed OUTSIDE. not back into the room. All you're doing is generating heat, and recirculating the new heat your generating back into the tent.

ac creates heat. where's the exhaust going? back into the room? that's not going to work. exhaust on the tent. where's that going? back into the room? that's not going to work.

Lets talk new egg here , seen a few lower priced 580s finnaly , anyone have experince with multiple newegg accounts ?

do they look at the cc and shipping address or just the account if you have say two accounts ? , normally I dont mind buying one every few days

but with the currrent shortage i'd prefer to buy 2 or 3 and then be done with it for a while

Multiple accounts does not work. Whether it's the name or the shipping address I'm not sure but I tried that because they had some reasonably priced 570 8gb cards.

The bright side is they have been releasing them every 3 days so I grab one every time they go up.

This is newegg.ca but I imagine it's the same idea

Multi accounts do work. This is coming from someone with a few dozen new egg accounts.

Also speaking of Best Buy last year I returned a BUNCH of stuff from a remodel I was doing so it was just the Philips lights, Amazon Echos and other home automation stuff. They processed the first few items then all of a sudden the system needed a manager to override it. So I asked what happened, manager tells me "Oh because you're returning so much stuff, the system won't let you do any more returns after today, I have to override it and after today it won't let you."

So I tested that one out - didn't use my Amex, used my Visa for a couple fitbits, came back the next day to see if they would let me - and they did. So if anyone gets hit with a "you can't return any more stuff" just swap credit cards Smiley

900 per 1080 ti is sustainable price if you power is cheap.

3.50 to 4.00 earnings for 1 card using 5kwatts of power.

this breakdown to

3.00-3.50  profit a day per card after power

300 days  = 900 to 1050 back.

cards have 1 year warranty or longer .

So at 900  the price is not terrible

prices will not drop to 700  until cards are earning

under 2 per day.  Simple math dictates it.

I was happy to buy the 2 gaming pc's at 2290.00 each after tax.

They came today  and are making 6.80 using 1.30 in power each  so 5.50 a day  would mean  paid off in 416 days.

I have a 1 year warranty  so I will be fine with them.

best of all I can return them for 45 days so my risk of a crash  does not exist for 44 days after today.

Who's return policy is 45 days? only one i know off hand is best buy's gold or whatever membership tier. Just curious and wanted to know Smiley

best buy elite
but I am with hp.com I got through a member store from my high school job at mc Donald's

these are omen gamers I get a 430 dollar discount  they list for 2606 - 430 = 2176 tax is 7%  = 2327 - 2% for eBay card = 2280    I timed the charge and have 45 days before the money is due.  and hp.com allows returns up to 30 not 45 days.  1 year full warranty.

so 2 were about 4560 they are earning  15 a day using 760 watts which is about 19 kwatts at 10 cents in the winter .  so first 30 days I will have earned 390 net

I am supposed to get 2 x 150 off from retail not  but I am not sure if that will work out.  I will need to fight for that.

worker 1 and 2

Very cool Phil - that is a super nice discount!  I got a few similar "gaming" pc's built on Ryzens but I paid $700 more than you for each, you've got a hell of a deal there for sure - Most of them I added GPU's to, but these last 4 u can see here I ran out of GPU's so they're just running dual GPU's I bought them with in the case - and Ryzen 3 is watercooled 1080 Ti's running hot @ 61c - these cards definitely don't like to be caged in the case Smiley

The Titan V is very nice... but too expensive to make any economical sense currently. But good on you if you want to play with it, Phil. It should be a good indicator of what's to come for the consumer/gamer market. Are we expecting the Volta cards in Q2?

Coins seem to rebound a little after the massive drop. It'd be really nice if they could settle around these levels a bit. Build a base and start going up again. Mining-wise, all we need is for China to ban mining farms and we're in the money! Cheesy

It's just a correction, you can have hyper inflated growth like that without it correcting. It's not a crash, it's a correction. I bought a couple more coins at 6500 but I wish I would have saved those 3 coins I bought when it was 10k but at the end of the day it doesn't matter, what's an extra 30% when it's going to 6-8x by the end of the year.

If all your expecting out of mining is checking whatomine for daily fiat prices, then it's your fault for getting in for the wrong reason.

you didnt answer my questions.

Are these "normal levels"for mining ?

this is more a question for someone whos been around for 3-4 years, so you can take your 2 cents back

There are PLENTY of threads that address historic mining profits.

I also I use mBTC/hash not USD/hash so it is what it is. Everyone is different.

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EthMonitoring \ EthControl (EWBF, Claymore's, CCMiner, AntMiner, Android/iOS) on: February 05, 2018, 09:11:53 AM
Is there a way to implement GPU Temp monitoring, I had a rig that EthControl keeps stalling on, and control says it's mining but temp is like 30c and when I remote in I see EthControl is stalled. I have a script running now that will monitor GPU temps and if Temps drop it taskkills EthControl and restarts it back up, just wondering if this can be done on EthControl side so dont have to run extra scripts.

Do you have Nvidia or AMD cards? Can you come to discord related to this matter, so we can check what's really happening there.

Not really much happening. Couple times I've checked the app is just stuck  -  hashrate will say like 5pm or something, and it'll be 8am, so it hasn't hashed for hours. Also the it will read correct wattage draw in the other panel, like 29watts or whatever it is. Close EthControl, double click EthControl and it works like normal. It just freezes for some reason once in a while, if you put in some kind of check to reset it, wouldn't have to do it manually.

I started a secondary script that reads GPU temp and will reset ethcontrol if GPU temps hit 40c it taskkill program then relaunch the program. works no issues now, but would be great if the issue was fixed on EthControl side and I ddin't have to run a secandary script.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [DEVICE] SimpleRigResetter - Auto reboot freezed rigs - AVAILABLE NOW !!! on: February 04, 2018, 11:23:55 PM
Could this be used to keep a router up 24/7 as well?

Just use one of these

https://3gstore.com/product/6081_2_outlet_ip_switch.html

I have 4 of them for various reasons. They can run a rig too but for $100 and it only handles 10A not really worth it. Going on 7 years not a single problem with them, not bad.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: February 04, 2018, 04:17:51 PM
The rude shocker answer:

only the mentally ill mine at max power.

fact not opinion so  to give you an answer  is pointless since only crazy people want to mine at max power.

Now do not feel bad  as I have driven my Fia Forte from Howell NJ to Atlantic City  at 105 miles per hour  when I could safely set the cruise control at 65 miles per hour.

and my answer is yes  I have melted cables at high power settings.

My advice  set to 190-205 watts and no higher
Phil that is just not true. My power cost is ~$0.12 kwh and I have built spreadsheets in the past for every single algo and power %, and no matter what the out is always more money by running at 100% or higher power usage.

I have always said if it works for you do it.

I know maxing cards  does not work for me.

BTW  I was looking to get you to reply to the rude statement  as I don't understand how you don't kill your cards or risers maxed like you run. Grin

If cards are cheap and space is big   but power available is low   you will get more hash  with more cards set to  60-70%

I have space at the array
and we did get a bunch of 1080ti hybrids at a good price.

If I set them to 180-200 watts  rather then 240-250 watts  I can do more hash on the same power.

the array caps at 30kwatts  per hour.  after that  power is no longer free.

We did get good news on the land in south jersey we may get the second array  sooner then we thought.

and it would be 40kwatts

Not bad. 40kw is enough to power about 6.6 rigs in CA in the summer and 3 in the winter.
