21  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Giga-Watt a scam ? on: July 28, 2018, 04:23:59 PM
I have some miners waiting for deployment. Huh I didn't buy the miners from them but I had some S9's and Bitmain PSU's that I sent to them.  Did you buy new PSU's from them because the Bitmain APW3++ are not UL compliant? I asked and they told me I need to buy their PSU which is UL compliant. Is this a scam?
Yes, Bitmain PSUs are not UL compliant - this was one of the many reasons why they delayed first deployments last autumn.  Government electrician agent did not allow to deploy Bitmain PSUs, and GW was forced to buy another model from Asia - Alpha PSUs - which are UL compliant.   But you can send any other PSU which is UL compliant, but it may cost more than from GW.

Pangborn Update 7/27/2018

Our electricians have the approved plans and have made the arrangements to decommission the switchgear and concrete pad.  Onsite the electricians will have the new locations pad framed and poured likely next week.  We will also have a construction company in, finishing excavating the area and the special ohm resistant rocks that will be delivered and ready to be backfilled.  We meet with at the city council on monday evening for the agreement to be approved between Giga Watt and the PUD for the mobile substation.  Once that agreement is approved it will take around two weeks for the mobile substation to arrive.  We have three companies that have been approved and bid to move the mobile substation, KVA, Silvey, Potelco.  The PUD will confirm Monday who won the right to move our mobile substation, KVA or Silvey. Onsite we had planned upgrades and were preparing for one of our legacy customers to vacate the three of our locations we were planning upgrades to the networks, rack, PDU’s and facility to better accommodate new miners to take the vacant positions.  We have already started filling in those empty positions and should be complete next week with waiting customers.

We know that a lot of you are looking towards the future and want to know about new projects that we are working on.  Hold tight, we have some exciting news that we will deliver to you after we finish with our current deployment.

$1,000,000 for 1 bitcoin is impossible to reach. Because bitcoin is possible to hit highest pricr only 100k dollars
Do you think that skilled IT persons like MsAffee are wrong because they are engaged in the crypto, and thus are seeking their own profit when saying about $1M price?

Two analysts believe bitcoin's recent spike comes from an increase in trading volume in Asia. Mati Greenspan of eToro and Clem Chambers of ADVFN argue that the trade standoff between the United States and China has turned investors to bitcoin. As the standoff threatens the value of Chinese and American currencies, Asian trades - especially in Japan and Korea - have increased investment in bitcoin as a hedge.

GIGA WATT absolutely a scam. It was set up as a Singapore based company to avoid US regulations.

They steal, cheat and lie!
not quite correct:  they are originally (and still are) a USA company which set up Singapore based company for selling China mining equipment.

BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes believes bitcoin will fall to $5,000 per coin before heading to $50,000 later this year.

The price of bitcoin jumped nearly $800 in an hour on Wednesday. Hayes believes that jump coincides with a quick surge of investors entering around the same price levels. He said the coin could jump as high as $10,000 before crashing to $5,000 on the road to his year-end prediction.

I'm sure the governments will find a way around the limitation of the number of coins in bitcoin if they really want it.
Final number of bitcoins is limited to 21 mlb coins, and if the govenments will decide to brake this rule, they will need to breake bitcoin protocol, wich was not possible possible so far.

There are also estimations that 25% of bitcoins have been lost for good.   Wink

Digital Currency Group's Silbert buys more bitcoin, says it has 'hit the bottom for the year'

Digital Currency Group's Barry Silbert is a big proponent of cryptocurrencies as an asset class.   "I think we’ve probably hit the bottom for the year. I actually put some money into bitcoin last week," he said at the Delivering Alpha Conference in New York on Wednesday. “As an asset class it is here to stay … I’m 100% confident a decentralized, non-fiat form of money is here to stay.”

Billionaire Marc Lasry sees bitcoin reaching up to $40,000 as it becomes more mainstream and easier to trade

The price of bitcoin could reach up to $40,000 as it becomes more accepted and easier to trade, billionaire investor Marc Lasry told CNBC on Wednesday.

"As it gets more into the mainstream, and as more markets end up allowing it to trade where it's freely tradable, to me that's more of the bet," Lasry said in a "Squawk Box" interview, adding that he sees bitcoin investors making five to 10 times their money in three to five years.

If you are performing 2,000,000 rounds, It may add more time for a cracker to break it but won't that be a downside for the user as well? as It will take a lot of time until his wallet is initialized.
Indeed, how much time these 2mln rounds take?   Developers should know about this and reply.

So, the most important steps for the moblie sub are:
Build new pad
Pour concrete for switchgear
Let concrete cure
Move switchgear
Retest switchgear

The move should only take a day or two.  The construction, pouring and curing should take around a week.

- seems we are approaching the finish (August, September?) at last.

*** Pangborn Update 7/13/18 ***

Our plans have been accepted and approved for the new layout of the switchgear foundation, conduit reroute and the proper sequence in which to remove and place the switchgear in its new location. The PUD is going to give us the schedule for when they will place the temporary poles and frame for the mobile sub this coming week. The engineering firm ECI is still examining if the temporary lowside breakers are necessary, if not that will help speed things along not having to add them to the site. The paperwork for the accepted contractor to run the mobile sub should be accepted and finalized in the next few business days. The Snohomish PUD will sign off on our final contractors overseeing the mobile substation for when it leaves their yard and transported to our site. Now that the ground grid is finished we can begin backfilling the site and prepare the landing for the mobile sub with the special ohm resistant rock to stage the area for its arrival. We will begin framing the new location for the switchgear next week.

I meant how much is token allocation percentage at lowest price. I remember it was about 60% for a long time.

It may soud strange but with the lowest rate you will earn the least nowadays, because the proportion of people renting out for this rate is the biggest.   Now percentage is less than 50%.   Middle rates perform a little better now.

Why give an update saying something will be done in a certain period with out any clue if it will or not. Just had a report that not one thing has been done in more than a month.
They give regular updates because clients are constantly asking for information and explanation about what is going on with the final pod which was first promised to be deployed in April.

Local electricians say they wouldn't touch this job with a 10' pole. What a mess!
Gigawatt makes necessary changes, doesn't it?

Do you think they were scamming from the beginning, or they just were not able to keep with the pace of the product's development?

An anonymous gambler has bet $6.3 million that the price of bitcoin will exceed the stock price of Berkshire Hathaway by 2023. Tom Waterhouse, an Australian bookmaker, tweeted the wager earlier this week. The gambler has a long way to go. Bitcoin currently trades just above $6,000 per coin, while a share of Berkshire Hathaway goes for $287,100 per share. The bet is at least somewhat a dig at Warren Buffet, the Berkshire Hathaway founder who earlier this year called bitcoin “rat poison.”

An early investor in Airbnb and Uber explains why he started buying bitcoin in 2009

Jeffrey Wernick is an independent investor whose portfolio includes early holdings in Uber and Airbnb. Wernick was also an early investor in bitcoin. He started buying it in 2009, the year it was created.

Wernick's initial interest in bitcoin was not just speculation that the price would rise. He believes bitcoin's value comes from its ability to solve the biggest problems with fiat money.

Wernick believes the ability to run large deficits and debase the currency changes the relationship between the government and its citizens. He believes it gives the government the ability to do things without the consent of the people.

Wernick says bitcoin solves these problems because it is a "people's currency, it's defined by the people, and it's defined by rules and a protocol that people trust."

Bitcoin Bull Tom Lee Double Downs on $25,000 Bitcoin Price Forecast in 2018

Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat Global Advisors and the best known Wall Street analyst who forecasts bitcoin prices, quickly clarified Thursday evening in a CNBC “Fast Money” interview that he maintains his $25,000 forecast.

Lee initially stated on Squawk Box Thursday morning that bitcoin has traded at 2.5 times its mining cost. The mining cost is $7,000 and rising, he said, meaning by year’s end the mining cost will reach $9,000.
