21  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think billionaires invest in BTC? on: September 28, 2017, 08:17:56 AM
If you have the money, then invest in BTC, Ether, and a decent amount of new altcoins that seem like they have a shot. Why not? Diversify and hope one or two are big winners.

As a student and educator, I'm very excited about this project! Coursera and similar programs are already great, and this can take global education to another level. Hope it's successful!

Your website countdown timer says it's counting down to the first round. But other places on the site you indicate it's the end of the second round. Which is it?
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New tech: Why Chinas platform ban (or any other) doesn't matter (Atomic Swaps) on: September 26, 2017, 06:06:15 AM
Bear in mind that this doesn't necessarily solve everything. More likely to just trigger a tech innovation war between crypto users and governments like China.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alternative Block Chains : be safe! on: September 26, 2017, 05:56:04 AM
indeed there is an overgrowing fear especially on Bitcoin like for example the double spent move but for me the biggest fear is from the so called cryptocurrency regulations. Angry

It is hard to keep up with the speed of regulation change, and also with the number of ICOs

Definitely both issues, though personally I'd focus more on distilling the bad (and the really bad) from the good, since a. regulations aren't necessarily predictable or within our control, and b. there's so much out there, and so much of it is horrendous.
26  Economy / Economics / Re: How to double your money using BTC? on: September 07, 2017, 07:18:49 AM
~snipped~

You really spend time posting this kind of non sense post. No offense but it was like some of the troll thread at the speculation thread. You just make it long so it can be looks like constructive. Im expecting you have some nice introduction there but ended as a joke. Even bitcoin price will always be uptrend you can't disregard the risk associated with it like what if the amount hold for 6 months is still the same or around the current price after the day comes due to large fluctuation.

Why troll?

Quote
-Result: after 6 months and after your phone alarm went off since you set it to ring in calendar for exactly 180 days, open your browser and go to one of the reputable exchanges and look at the market price, if your fiat money wasn't doubled if you were to sell your Bitcoins then find me and kick my ass lol for bad advice.

What an advice indeed.

To double your bitcoins, be serious on achieving that goal. Without effort to pursue that goal, it will wreck any kinds of strategy or methods that people will do to increase their bitcoin. Also, it's better to add the quantity of bitcoin while doing hold to maximize it's value rather than to stuck it with the same numbers the moment you hold it.

Agree. This is basically saying take a gamble, and if it works out, credit to me, and if it doesn't, too bad for you.
27  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Honestis--Not quite so honest? on: August 31, 2017, 07:37:31 AM

Very serious suspicion about the Honestis ICO (ironically, given it's name).

Their website, whitepaper, and other supporting material don't look like they're even bothering to market a real product, just to scam the really low-hanging fruit. Sadly it seems like they've got some.
When I posted a comment questioning the integrity of the ICO, they simply deleted the comment instead of providing any counter-evidence.

I would not put any time, effort and definitely not money into Honestis. It's a shame they're even using this forum to take people's money.

What was the question you asked? If it was a honest and serious question, there is no excuse for deleting it. If the question was similar to spam, or could be looked at a way that is spam, they may have a reason.

Seems that ico scams are quite frequent nowadays, and they usually seem to work quite well.

Seems like we need cryptodevil to investigate, he is amazing at this sort of stuff.

More quotes from their website (the atrocious English is from their site):

"be reliable to gain HONEST
Signatures Chain of Trust to support your identity by worldwide community.

Creating new  network of trust. Become owner of portable Identity which is yours and should be guarded strongly.

be fair to gain REPUTATION
Trade human to human gaining reputation for being theft or honest.

Every ETH ETC token acceptable to be switched.

be protected to keep PRIVACY
HONESTISoNETWORK is to protect all your data and relations and you and your privacy.

Honest and clear communication without algorithms as middleman and hazards from machine"

I raised concerns about how legitimate the ICO was. Naturally they deleted the comment instead of responding. Which only makes me more suspicious.
I suppose it's possible they're legitimate but woefully inept, but seems unlikely. This is the WP description of their financing:

"5.1 Finance structure
We plan to use big amount collected to spread and sell the product.
Marketing will be big part vary from 30% to 65% depends which cap will be reached."

Well then. That's it. Next section skips to 5.3 (what was 5.2?)

Exactly. Irony. From their site  "Honestis.Network is your personal path, where you
define how it crosses other people's paths in society, providing
you with a safe journey around it and your
individuality at a pace that suits you and your needs.

Honestis.Network is a new way to communicate, trade and expose your identity. Identity which is based on your relations.
Portable Digital Identity that will bring credibility, which is in our collective interest."

Whatever that's supposed to mean. Some ICO scams at least make an effort to seem real. These guys aren't even trying.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin will survive after 100 year ? on: August 31, 2017, 06:35:04 AM
Honestly, no. Rate of change has just become too fast, and in 100 years, technological and subsequent societal changes will be so great that we probably can't even attempt to fathom what it will be like.

32  Economy / Economics / Re: Bank of America Files 9 More Blockchain Patent Applications on: August 27, 2017, 06:53:57 AM
Nah, I think it's actually good for blockchain. Lends it even more legitimacy--even large centralized organizations appreciate its value. And could lend more stability to some crypos, which are simply way too volatile to actually be a useful form of currency right now (way to make --or lose--money quick, sure. But currency, not as great).

This sounds like the exception rather than the rule. My guess is we only talk about it when it happens because it is so unusual.

Global warming is real. Having said that, the original reasoning given is pretty flimsy.

38  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people feel so ofended by everything nowadays? on: August 09, 2017, 08:33:09 AM
Western culture went soft over the years and that's thanks to the PC culture.

Hear, hear. It's all because we've conditioned people to believe that every opinion and person is precious and beautiful, whereas in all reality this is hardly ever the case. Oh well, empires rise and fall, such is the cycle, and now it's our turn to fall.

This might be the dumbest thing I've read all week.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is amazing on: August 08, 2017, 11:34:46 AM
My question is for long term is it better to wait or is the price going to keep rising. Maybe we have a new bottom?
I know it's speculation but curious what people are thinking.

I am 100% certain that it is going to go to $1,000,000 per 1 BTC in the future.

I am so certain about this, that I am willing to commit to pay you 10 BTC if it never reaches an exchange rate of $1,000,000 per 1 BTC.

How do i take you up on that offer?
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Have you dumped your BCC yet? on: August 08, 2017, 05:31:33 AM
After reading this thread, and seeing no good viability for Bitcoin Cash, I am now dumping it.

Probably a lot of folks are thinking that way, which will only farther drive its value down.
