Can someone tell me what the advantage of the Antminer V9, 4TH/s is?
Looking at the specs,
Antminer V9, 4TH/s 253mJ/MH+10%
Antminer S9, 13.5TH/s 0.098 J/GH +10%
Can someone standardize those specs for me?

Par Avion - I don't know how many people I speak for on this pool/forum Please leave. You have been nothing but an idiot complaining. I read posts quickly, and I come across general questions answers and opinions, then I read a really stupid negative one, and just for fun, because I really never look to see who posted it, on the negative ones, I see your name... ALL THE TIME Maybe it was you that brought bad luck? When did you join? Others, please Register your vote - to Kick or not to kick :-) You don't kick people just because you don't agree with them. It's called Freedom of Speech. We live in a democracy. Your attitude should be: "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." Just let stupid people be. The best way to put them in their proper place? Ignore them. While I agree with this statement, if we are getting politically correct, please note that not all users here live in a democracy and that could be offensive to some.  I myself am a 90% disabled vet. Has the pink middle of the shift graph disappeared for anyone other than me? I like to see the 5nd but I don't see it now.  It's just scrolled off the left of the chart. We need a Block to bring it back. Shew... Thought it was me.  Now let's find that block! |

I just added Zcash to slush - and it looks like I totally botched the block table. So yes, ignore this week's slush data till I figure that out. Sorry bout that! The cost of progress I guess.
I have slush fixed and was totally skipping the coin in the calculation. Current Weekly CDT is .00010875 instead of .01BTC per Day per Th/s. Oh how I wish we were at those days. Mine On! THANKS! |

haha... there goes that theory/advantage/whatever you want to call it. i guess the math is either wrong or right, but if the later, doesn't present a very pretty picture... I guess we'll hope it's wrong. Check out this mornings version of minergain.com - changing that N/A for the week to 0.0000 inflicted all sorts of punishment on the numbers it appears.  I'm not sure why everyone seems to think this month is so bad...with the average pool hash rate we've had this month the expected number of blocks is somewhere between 8.2 and 8.4...we already have 8. Even if we don't get another that's pretty damn good! Im not saying things are bad. For a while, lots of people pointed to the numbers that were shared on Minergain.com as a reference for the benefit of this pool. That all *appears* to have fizzled away yesterday when the owners of minergain agreed to change the weekly number to 0 instead of what was prior a N/A because there had been no blocks found. I suspect, but who knows what the math is, that those N/A's weren't being counted in the percentages and now that they are and at zero, it's strongly impacted what was presented as an advantage. Granted that's just a data point and it may not be an accurate one now as there may be other math issues that it uncovered. For me personally, I know that at slush in 6 days I was paid .01 BTC, the next .01 BTC took 10 days and this was all at the beginning of this month (I've only been here since the 18/19th). The above was with 14TH same as here. I got a small amount on the last block .001<something> from here and so I'm really curious what the first *real* block for me will look like. That will tell me some of what I want to understand in a bit more imperical way than percentages and numbers that may not be correct.... As a new miner, my gripes are many; take it as constructive criticism.
There are a lot of repeated questions on here that could be easily addressed by an updated more concise website.
There is no way to know exactly where your ramp is, and with a ramp up taking over a full difficulty adj period, that is a lot of time to wait, coming from someone who already waited 2 plus months for their miner to arrive.
The website sucks: Compare it to slush, because yes that is the biggest competitor. Their interface is gorgeous. Lots of information, lots to see. All relevant stuff is addressed and laid out.
The app sucks: Again compared to slush, its ridiculous.
Spend the time and money to update the site. Make it more user friendly.(read newcomer) I'm slowly getting the hang of things, but I have to say none of the questions I've needed addressed would have happened at slush. Theres really no reason for the website and app to suck so hard in what is more or less the top of the computing world.
It's ok, bud. You may be happier at slush, but you'll make more here. Are your feelings and impressions of GUI's more important than your wallet balance? edit: wanted to add that the website has all the information you need. 'sall good, homey. This isn't exactly how you win new people over, homey. The website looking like a middle school science fair project with an app to match IS a legitimate issue. Someone suggesting that making it more usable than the current pile of dogshit would cost over 100k? or take time; implying that over three years isn't enough? Come on, lets be realists. ROI is why I chose this pool, and adding a bit more horsepower to the pool would help lower the awesome variance. Ok. This happens every time luck turns bad for a bit. We all start jumping on each other like a pack of hungry wolves. Par Avion has valid points. And being hostile to each other solves nothing. We need to look at how to bring in these new miners. If it takes change the look and feel of the site, then we should at least discuss it. Look at what is successful, figure out why, and try to improve on that. We should be the biggest pool out there. Why aren't we? That's what we need to solve, not attacking people who try to bring an idea to the table. I've been mining here for the last 2 years and I have no plans to leave, but we have to figure out a way to attract more miners. I am sure we have enough talented people within this pool that could volunteer to give the website a tune up and develop a marketing effort if Kano is interested. We could put together several mockups and let the Miners have a vote to determine the winners! What say you Sir Kano? Are you willing to let a few of us give it a try? |

I think BTC is about done with it's downward trend. It hasn't touched it's low in over a week if I'm reading it right. A 1/3 value adjustment after that landmark runup is healthy for the overall market.
Let's get some discussion started about immersion cooling. I think that it may be a way to bring old equipment back into the fold, as well as bring operating costs down. I picked up a cheep S4 as my entry into mining and realize, that once heating season is over, I'll likely need to turn it off unless I can cut some corners on power consumption. I can run it half the year here, just as supplemental heat no matter how sad it's coin finding becomes. I think nearly 225w of my unit's overall 1300 is fans. With half a dozen empty aquariums in my basement, and a Sam's card where 20gal of vegetable oil will cheep... I can't help but wonder if oil cooling isn't the answer.
I plan on trying it out on some old equipment next month. Just an old mobo and old NVidia card that can just barely mine ZEC with it's memory/cuda count.... a 550ti I think. I will share my results.
Good luck, keep us in the loop at your cooling attempt. $BTC will move back up here as the last futures contract expired on Friday I do believe. We can see some upward momentum here. Working on a small submersion system with some S7s, Mineral oil and an old Freezer... I'll let you know how it goes. When I'm done I'll post a complete How to....
