21  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bull market on: May 24, 2018, 08:56:30 AM
A bull market in cryptos is the moment when they whales want you to buy and they are already either selling to you or just preparing to sell their coins to you.
A bear market is exactly the opposite, for obvious reasons.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to withstand whales? on: May 23, 2018, 10:24:10 PM
Hey guys, just found a mind-blowing article about whales and "skype trading".

Quote
A small group of about twenty over-the-counter (OTC) traders and clients including big investors, miners, payment processors and hedge funds, has reached a monthly trading volume worth billions of dollars. Instead of using an online exchange like Coinbase or Kraken, the participants close major deals chatting on Skype and settle them by sending fiat via bank wires and cryptocurrency directly to each others’ wallets.......

So in December, when common people sold houses and cars or took loans in the bank and bought bitcoin during its unprecedented growth, bankers quietly sold all the bitcoins out of the exchange at high prices, and this did not affect the exchange rate, but when not over-the-counter areas were over, they came to the stock exchanges and the remains of bitcoin were already sold on open exchanges, causing a price collapse.
If a whale wants to buy bitcoin for $ 500 million and go with this amount to the one of top 5 exchanges, such as Poloniex or Binance, he can in one trading session, push the rate one or two thousand dollars up, and that's exactly what he does not need.

What are your suggestions??? I think the only way is just HODL despite the fact of price collapse.

This is quite a quite obvious behavior for the really big whales, however I didn't think about that. What I wonder is how do they find each others to make these trades. You onviously don't place an ad on a newspaper "looking for other whales for OTC trades".
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “Warren: Maybe You’re Wrong About Bitcoin?” on: May 23, 2018, 10:15:47 PM
Well folks I found an interesting article this day, what can you say about it?

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett, known for his negative attitude towards cryptocurrencies, has been targeted in a bitcoin advocacy campaign lead by one of the largest cloud mining companies. Genesis Mining has recently posted billboards in front of Buffett’s office reminding him that he was wrong about Google and Amazon, and telling him that he may very well be wrong about bitcoin, as well.

The initiative has received a lot of support from the crypto community on social media. Genesis co-founder Marco Krohn posted on Twitter photos of the message to the investment guru with a short note saying: “Some new billboards outside of Warren Buffetts office! Smiley

Earlier this month, the American business magnate issued another warning in regards to bitcoin and the like. “Cryptocurrencies will come to a bad ending,” he said during the annual Berkshire Hathaway’s shareholder meeting, but he didn’t stop there. “If I could buy a five-year put on every one of the cryptocurrencies, I’d be glad to do it but I would never short a dime’s worth,” he said, concluding that bitcoin is “probably rat poison squared.” Needless to say, Buffett’s comments provoked reactions and even inspired new business ideas. A tokenized marketplace called Ecoinmerce has announced the “Rat Poison Squared clothing line.” Т-shirts and hats are already offered online, but one can also order a mug with the winged phrase.

more about the article,
https://news.bitcoin.com/bitcoin-in-brief-saturday-warren-warned-by-billboards-coinbase-tempted-by-banking/

Warren Buffett wants seemingly go into history with some sentences which will cause people to laugh about him for decades. However my guess is that he will likely make a bad end before Bitcoin actually might.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin failed as a currency on: May 23, 2018, 10:12:24 PM
Bitcoin was supposed to be used as a currency, not only a form of investment. However, it's been more successful as a form of investment, a "speculative asset".

Do you guys think that this can change in the long term ?

I am afraid not, unless something critical and radical would change in the way Bitcoin works. We will have crytpcurrencies used as currency but Bitcoin may be destined to be confined to its status of digital gold.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Plans for 8th Annual Bitcoin Pizza Day? on: May 23, 2018, 08:47:29 PM
Bitcoin Pizza Day is Tuesday May 22! Was it a Dominos pizza or Papa Johns that was purchased?

Anyone planning an event in NYC? I'm looking for any pizza place that accepts direct bitcoin payments.

LoL, I didn't know that this pizza stuff had already become a tradition. Unfortunatelly I've discovered it on May 23rd, now I'll have to wait one year to celebrate my first Bitcoin Pizza Day Cheesy
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Again, Bitcoin described as a Bubble. on: May 23, 2018, 07:49:52 PM
Still a lot of discussions about the future of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies surrounding in scientific community. Aren't experts yet convainced that bitcoin is a reality?
In an interview for CNBC, Robert Shiller the professor at Yale University expressed his rather negative sentiment towards Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, saying:

Quote
To me it’s another example of faddish human behavior.
Link to the interview: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/21/bitcoin-could-be-another-failed-currency-robert-shiller-says.html

Shiller consolidated his opinions on Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in a long post from where i prefered to take this note:

Quote
Practically no one, outside of computer science departments, can explain how cryptocurrencies work, and that mystery creates an aura of exclusivity, gives the new money glamour, and fills devotees with revolutionary zeal, […] None of this is new, and, as with past monetary innovations, a seemingly compelling story may not be enough.
Link to full article: https://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/cryptocurrencies-scientific-narrative-by-robert-j--shiller-2018-05

This is quite ridiculous, because especially the second quote would much better fit to wall street's wizards who create again and again totally absurd form of derivatives, a form of "money" which is much more unreal and much more a bubble and has much more an aura of exclusivity and ABSOLUTELY NOBODY understands how these f*king derivatives work.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Market Manipulation on: May 17, 2018, 03:00:01 PM
People who own large quantities of Bitcoins (aka the Whales) and People who own large quantities of FIAT (aka the BANKERS)
They manipiulate.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin become centralized sometime in the future? on: May 17, 2018, 02:54:25 PM
In fact Bitcoin is already much more centralized than several of the other cryptocurrencies around. Not only miners are getting less and less and bigger and bigger, but also people who download the whole blockchain become lesser and lesser. Moreover, whales are swallowing more and more coins by the way of speculations.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi nakamato needs to come out ! on: May 17, 2018, 02:52:06 PM
Forget about discovering who is the real Satoshio Nakamoto. I guess that if he were a real person we would have already discovered that. He just may be some group or agency.
30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can you verify if a bitcoin is real? on: May 17, 2018, 02:49:39 PM
It is difficult to give you a short synthetic answer if you are starting from zero. However, to make it simple, if you have installed a legit Bitcoin wallet, this will connect to the blockchain, which is a distributed ledger, shared by people who have Bitcoins, which exists exactly to check that every Bitcoin is real. For better explanations you can probably google Bitcoin.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin ATMs on: May 17, 2018, 02:45:53 PM
How do botcoin ATMs work?
That would not be possible with Bitcoin. Because the founder and operator of bitcoin was anonymous and no one could know what he was doing. Therefore Bitcoin ATMs will not be available. But I believe in the revolution of Crypto, there will be altcoins doing this to beat the bank of the world.
I hope Hashcard and Credits can do this.

Why do you speak about facts you ignore?
There are already working Bitcoin ATMs in several countries, including Romania, Austria, Italy. I have even used them already in those countries, and they probably exist in many other places.
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC again Fall down at 7k?! on: May 17, 2018, 02:43:21 PM
If anyone would know a certain answer to this question of yours, they would become rich. In fact, nowbody really knows if BTC is going to dive that much again. I guess it may, but who can tell it for sure?
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: May 17, 2018, 02:41:05 PM
I am also an long term investor on maidsafe and I feel that 2018 going to make it really valuable crypto currency....it seems big players having some insider information like new exchange or anything else....something major is going to come in next few days....all of a sudden maidsafe have changed the gears...volume increased by 4 times in last 24 hours.....it seems some people knows something good about future of maidsafe that we common investors don't know...

Do you have any links supporting your claim about big players? If the volume stays high for a prolonged time you may have a point.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡ [ANN] DeepOnion ⚡ TOR + DeepVault ⚡ QT V.1.7.1.1 Released ⚡ Upgrade Now! ⚡⚡⚡⚡ on: May 17, 2018, 02:39:00 PM

I agree. A lot of education on how to use stealth addresses is necessary, since they are quite new stuff. And I've read that you may lose your coins if you don't use them properly.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][WEBD] 🌍 WebDollar - Currency of the Internet | Mining directly in browser on: May 17, 2018, 02:34:16 PM
Hello! Can you give us more information about your team? Its sad that your project won't have ICO and a bounty campaign

It is a GOOD NEWS that this project is ICO-free.
As for the bounty campaigns, I guess they will come at some point, perhaps when the infrastructure will be complete.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 42-coin Development Discussion Thread on: May 17, 2018, 02:32:02 PM
O'Boy will Douglas Adams be upset.  There goes the Universe and everything.  Need to restore to 42 to save the Universe & my breakfast.

Exactly. The answer to the question about Live, the Universe and everything has been turned into a cryptocurrency. This is the answer to the question about Live, the Universe and everything  Smiley
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XEL] :: Elastic - The Decentralized Supercomputer :: on: May 17, 2018, 02:30:27 PM
Elastic can be found on Coinlib. Keep track of its price in real-time, check historic data and add it to your portfolio. Coinlib offers you powerful tools to keep track of coins, including alerts, price comparison and arbitrage opportunities.

Thanks for pointing out Coinlib, I didn't know this tool, I'll check it, even for other coins beyiond Elastic.

Really nice to see the recent progress with Elastic.

Really great progress https://xeline.org/  !  Shocked Shocked Shocked

That seems something worth giving a deeper look too.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [XEL] :: Elastic - The Decentralized Supercomputer :: on: May 17, 2018, 07:22:51 AM
The reaction of the market makes me confused.

GNT is up more than XEL today with zero news, what?!

I think Elastic is still doing better than expected... No ICO, No CEO and No A-Holes running anything here. Good ol' fashion coding/development and all under the radar. I'm super stoked about the future of $XEL tho.... Grin Grin

I agree that the best coins to invest in are those who are currently flying under the radar. But if they fly too low too long there is the rising risk of them suddenly crashing...
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] 42-coin Development Discussion Thread on: May 17, 2018, 07:19:53 AM
The rich list ! https://chainz.cryptoid.info/42/#!rich

It's funny to see in a currency which consists in just 42 coins people who have 1, 2 or even 4 coins Smiley
The funnies part of it is that it still manages to have a value Smiley

Morning, Bounty!

Let's return to the issue of distribution -- it's seen as much less a concern than it was a few years ago. Note that the largest wallet has seen no movement in well over a year.

So, 'just 42 coins'? Well, yes and no: IMHO, it's a theme, a marketing perspective. Each 42-coin is as divisible as any other crypto. That is, we have an elegant sufficiency of units in the currency. For me, the real 'rareness' is the deflationary aspect.

For me, the real "rareness" is the total supply being the exact number given by Douglas Adams as the answer to the question about the universe, life and all the rest.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Nearly as Bad as ‘Trading Harvested Baby Brains’ on: May 17, 2018, 07:17:06 AM
there actually is a market for baby brains. (dont hit the keyboard in shock and anger.. read on)

some parents when their baby dies can donate their childs organs to help others, and part of this can include donating the deceased to medical science and research. many new therapies/ research developments, understandings of diseases have come about through research using this.

so lets not think of the negative connotations of "baby brains" but lets instead flip the debate around. think of all the good new therapies, medications and diagnoses that have been invented from it. and simply say this.

bitcoin is a market many people dont want to admit they are part of, but they understand the benefits of these market. so although the general public may frown at anyone admitting they are in this market, once they understand the benefits the market actually brings, it is jaw dropping and eye opening about how positive people get and at some point people decide when its their time, they want to be part of it too

You cannot donate the brain of a deceased baby to another non deceised baby, since death implies exactly the death of the brain.
