24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin deletion project. 21 million to 20 million. on: November 20, 2014, 08:51:33 AM
This is just crazy. Asking businesses to voluntarily destroy their bitcoins? Come on, man.

business often donate money to charity, they advertise, rather than endorsing a college bowl game, would you more likely support them if they deleted 1000 bitcoin. The cost to name a bowl game may cost $20 million. $20 million is 50,000 BTC.  Then you can have an automatic list to show the top deleters.  Top deleters would be seen as noble as mother Theresa.  Top deleters would get the first dance at a ball.  Wow that guy deleted 100,000 BTC he is the man.  Hot supermodel, "that man deleted 6,000 I am sleeping with him tonight."

This is crazy idea, but it could get some media attention to the first business deleting large chunk of Bitcoins  Smiley

26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The protocol of bitcoin can be limitlessly replicated on: October 06, 2014, 02:24:23 PM

The network is going to be weakening by the hour. Because miners sold houses and cars to buy equipment/coins.

That's the exact opposite of weakening, because more and more people are participating in Bitcoin.

And now they can't afford it so they must abandon.

If you dont invest responsible, you sometimes have to sell part of your investment under your entry price. Nothing new.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Could Bitcoin Evolve? on: October 06, 2014, 02:20:41 PM
Where is  the 'new' wallet which is like a lite version that means you don't need to download the whole blockchain.

i Need it!

There are few such wallets. I use electrum. I believe multibit is lite version as well...
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some questions about crypto, btc. on: October 03, 2014, 04:35:44 PM
The us gov, is the second btc shareholder. Tim draper, etc.
What would prevent him, to create, or reuse a virtual exchange, fake the rates (like mtgox), and sell all the coins at funny prices?

And why sell at funny prices when they can auction the coins and get more USD? As long as you can move coins and USD from and to virtual exchange, you can make money with arbitrage if the prices differs from other exchanges
Funny prices = Higher than market. Someone have 30000 btc to control prices, and there are 140.000 coins arround to fluctuate prices wherever they want. For me it spells HONEYPOT, everywhere. They bought the coins really cheap, what is the cost of operation to raid Silk Road, now they can do whatever they want with a global cryptocoin economy.

Doesnt matter if much higher or lower, with arbitrage you can make money eighter way. In your example people would be selling bitcoin more often than buying there until the price stabilizes with other exchanges. So it cost USD to the manipulator setting higher prices and he acquire more BTC

30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here's why Paypal loves bitcoin, put simply on: October 03, 2014, 04:04:11 PM
Paypal is neutral with Bitcoin. If Paypal can get enought fees from Bitcoin to compensate any trouble/work to add Bitcoin to Paypal system, why not... Paypal just want some revenue from fees, Paypal does not care if Bitcoin fails or replace fiat or just stay as is now.

32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ebay - the first tech giant to accept Bitcoin? on: April 29, 2014, 04:25:18 PM
Bitcoin = PayPal competition
Ebay will accept Bitcoin only when it will become necessary for Ebay to stay top auction site. In other word, not anytime soon.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: How high will BTC go in the next bull run. on: April 22, 2014, 11:02:36 PM

35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Do You WISH you could buy with Bitcoin? on: April 20, 2014, 04:39:28 PM
I think the biggest challenge to BTC is the "buy and hold" mentality of most, rather than understanding the "current" flow that makes a "currency" something to be desired.

The best way is getting paid in Bitcoin, then you have to spend. Hard to say if other than freelancers will ever get paid in Bitcoin in the future...

37  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: transaction not confirmed - what can i do? on: March 05, 2014, 04:24:40 PM
Goes to show how bad Bitcoin is, looks like the Bitcoin Protocol is deteriorating.

Please read more carefully, OP used custom transaction in blockchain.info and blockchain.info did not warned transaction with 1 satoshi output will probably never be included. Bitcoin Protocol is ok, majority of miners choosed not to add dust transactions to Bitcoin blockchain
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: mtgox bitcoin price is 162usd right now.Buy lots of bitcoins and wait for mtgox! on: February 24, 2014, 09:13:36 PM
Actually if I already had USD at MtGox, I would buy Bitcoins at this price.
But sending new USD to MtGox, nope

39  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinroll.it - Dice rolling game | Instant bets | Off-the-chain | 1% House edge on: January 10, 2014, 09:29:13 PM
i'm removing AquaMan from the list of winners. s/he is a confirmed scammer.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=241022.0

pls report any confirmed scammers they should be disqualified imo

Once in final list for draw, there should be chance for win, you could remove AquaMan from list for draw and have different winners, but when we know both hashes, it is not random draw anymore if you update list for draw now...

The funny thing AquaMan is not logged in for many months, but in rules, there is nothing about account inactivity, scammer tags, negative trust, duplicate accounts or mentioning Coinroll.it has final decision who can be winner
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Rig Motherboard question. All PCIe 1x slots useable? on: January 10, 2014, 09:09:21 PM
I know plugging GPU card to PCIe 1x has no speed impact for Bitcoin mining. Im not sure about Scrypt mining, never tried it
