23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Best way to create Shared group wallets/addresses? on: March 26, 2014, 09:49:13 PM
We've got a bit of a group going locally now, and we're thinking about a list of Bitcoin addresses for bounties and tips - stuff like getting flyers printed locally, website work, etc.

It would be nice to a) keep track of these separately, and b) distribute control a bit between the group to avoid bottlenecks and/or people running off with the coin.

For (a) we can just set up a new wallet isolated from others. But what's the best way of achieving (b)? I figure some kind of multi-holder setup is best, ie. 3 out of 5 people have to OK the coins being released from an address, but never really used this kind of transaction in anger.

Any pointers?
24  Economy / Goods / "This is Art" - the final album on: March 20, 2014, 08:51:28 PM
(TL;DR: Get this album. It rocks.)

All the way back in September 2012, filmmaker Espen J. Jörgensen and musician Rupert Lally decided to release their first collaboration, "Stillium Partita" (link) for bitcoins. Back then you could charge 1 BTC for an album and not feel like a sanitarium dropout. Fast forward a year and a half, and two and a bit albums later, and the final collaboration has finally hit the Bitcoin shelves.

"This is Art" carries on exploring both artists' love of wild samples and driving rhythms. As each track takes on its own character, it's hard to sum it up. But think gritty orchestral 80s soundtracks with bits of NIN and New Order thrown in. Maybe.

Choose what you pay. Nothing to lose. And a great way to support those supporting Bitcoin.

Check it out here.

A blocknois.es release. Also available for (zero) Dogecoin.

What's the best way to report/check things? Post here?

Looks like I've got a notification of a buddy request, but clicking on it sends me to the "send message" screen with not much info.

Also, any idea of when simple 2FA will be added?

Are you authenticating with the bitstamp API properly? Not used it myself but the doc page says all requests need to be authenticated.  Or are you seeing a message specifically relating to limits?
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Donkey Koin - The Internet's MegaWallet. on: March 02, 2014, 04:36:23 PM
Interesting. Signed up, but would like to know more about the security side of things:

Security is paramount. Our number one priority is protecting users coins & data. We have several security protocols in place and these will remain confidential.

You'll forgive me for not wanting to 'just trust' a new Bitcoin-related service out of the box, but more information on why the site is secure would go a long way. Otherwise all it comes across as is security through obscurity.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My poloniex account got hacked. Check yours on: March 02, 2014, 04:29:12 PM
I've got 2FA enabled, but when I login I currently don't get asked to enter the code - the email/password form just redirects to itself. Pretty sure password is OK as pasting it from a password manager.

+1 to only keeping long term things in your own wallet.
36  Economy / Speculation / Re: A cracker owning 850,000btc. How bad is that? on: February 28, 2014, 11:37:26 PM
If 850k coins truly were stolen, shouldn't we be able to see that in the blockchain? Especially if this happened recently. I call bullshit on this one until I see some proof such a big number of coins were actually stolen.

There's been 2 huge coin movements recently. See this thread:

37  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin bear chart on: February 27, 2014, 08:58:36 PM
Our of curiosity - any chance the recent massive coin movements are related to what's happening at MtGox now?

I have this vague memory of hitting a MtGox-related address when I was tracing addresses, but couldn't swear to it and can't be bothered to trace it through again.

39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: seriously.... wtf happened I need some help please... on: February 11, 2014, 08:03:41 PM
Was the 2FA on your LocalBitcoins account? Or on the wallet you withdrew to? What type of wallet was the 1bWyMKfhx4soXFyy8p2QLqKSp87SHxSe4 address in, and when was it generated? And looks like the transactions are a couple of weeks apart, but are you using a rooted phone at all?
40  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Need help with perhaps unrecoverable 0.171 BTC wallet.dat on: February 09, 2014, 07:35:05 PM
Is the file you're trying to open the same size as the one reported by Recuva, ie. 104k?

If you open it in a text or hex editor (after backing it up, etc), can you find any text matching "ckey" or "mkey" at all?
