26  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will people ever get their investment back on USB Erupter ? on: June 18, 2013, 11:08:25 PM
Let's do some math:

~1 GH/s ~= 0.025 BTC per day

1/3rd of 0.025 ~= 0.0075 BTC per day per USB
0.025 * 0.30 == 0.0075

Original cost of 1 USB = 1.99 BTC, let use that figure just to be fair, as this is the lowest price you could/can get it for right now.

At the current diff, it will take each USB 266 days to reach your original investment, not including any electricity that you may have used.

diff is currently jumping 15%-28% each 10 days or so.

Depending on what your cost basis is of your bitcoin, I would say the answer to this question is a resounding no.

15-28% each 10 days the difficulty moves up?!? Are you serious? I thought it was every 4 years.

28  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Indiegogo Campaign with Bitcoins? on: June 18, 2013, 11:05:35 PM
Hello world!

I'm the manager of a modest environmental indiegogo campaign, and I'm trying to weigh the advantages of opening up our campaign to receive bitcoin donations. The indiegogo platform itself does not facilitate transfers, so I would have to do the leg work myself, later donating the funds in USD to the campaign.

Advice?

In terms of money flow, I'm thinking about this:

1. Contributor send bitcoins to my wallet.
2. I convert bitcoins to USD
3. I donate USD to campaign, recognizing donor name, guaranteeing perks, etc.

I could also use some secure advice on the most trusted intermediaries, etc. I've done a fair amount of reading over the past few weeks, but I still fancy myself, well...an utter noob.

I do have a verified Mt. Gox and Dwolla account though. (Yes, I know Dwolla is not transfering to mtgox right now)

I can't post links (like I said, noob) but you can check out our campaign by searching ASI Conserva Chile on the indiegogo homepage.

Is your company taking Bitcoin investments?
