21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the fastest way to check 100's of wallet dat from different versions? on: November 29, 2013, 01:49:23 AM
I'll gladly check it, but you have no way to know that I'm not taking your private keys and absconding with the loot. An open-source tool or hand-checking is probably your best bet.

And where to find such a tool?

hand checking will take me weeks Smiley

also i would need to install many different versions of qt ..
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the fastest way to check 100's of wallet dat from different versions? on: November 29, 2013, 01:48:17 AM
I wonder how you ended up having 100's of wallet.dat files from different versions of bitcoin-qt...?
I am not sure whether I would like the story.
Backup before upgrading on every release, never deleting old backups, being around for a long time. I've I would've been here since '09 I would most likely also have a couple hunderd wallet files by now. And I can see that in the early days, you would be experimenting even more with wallets and thus needing more backups.

Exactly this Smiley

Still no refund after over 4 weeks now...

They keep telling customers they made an error on the bank statements etc..

KNC IS SCAM !!!

26  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SCAM ALERT: KNCMINER is a SCAM - Cancel your orders! on: November 11, 2013, 11:12:23 AM
I was originally pissed that I was being refund in USD, instead of BTC but I finally agreed as I wanted my money back. For weeks they assured me that it was coming and now they have gone completely. Phone number disconnected and everything. There are reports on btc-e of others being scammed as well. I think the issue is wide spread. I am glad the owners are well known, it will make the police report tomorrow very easy to track them down.

Do not make orders with kncminer, if you do, cancel it now! A lot of people I know are not ordering from them anymore. Don't lose thousands like I have.

When you paid via Bitpay you knew all they receive is USD as well so no reason to be pissed...that was absolutely clear .

But waiting 9 Business days now for a USD transfer within SEPA is horrible...but okay I will keep you updated.

I am waiting for my refund within SEPA zone since 8 days.

It is a high 5 digit euro sum.

While I paid in BTC the actual amount I would have now would be around a median 6digit sumif I held to m´y BTC.

But okay thats not KNC fault ..that was my own decision and I knew the risk.

But waiting 21 days now ( since requesting the refund ) does smell scam.

Where there is smoke there is fire.

CANCEL ALL YOUR ORDERS AS LONG AS YOU CAN !

Okay I was able to call them and to verify all my details.

I still give them the benfit of doubt..but another 2-3 days maximum.

Also my bank confirmed it SHOULD be there but sometimes it can take some time.

34  Economy / Marketplace / ( SOLVED )Modified Linux Live System creation -> 5 BTC Bounty on: August 07, 2013, 04:03:41 PM
Hi!

Please create a TinHat Linux version http://opensource.dyc.edu/tinhat
with Wireless drivers and gnome network manager installed.

(Wifi &wwan drivers especially for Lenovo x230,x131 series )

other software to integrate into the Live/RAM System ->

Virtualbox (from oracle, not the OSE Version) + Extension Pack

Macchanger autostart for eth0,eth1,wlan0,wlan1,wlan2,wwan0

Truecrypt

FORMAT is ISO

Offers please.  Should be possible to create in 16 hours maximum for somebody who is willing to do it ;

Tinhat Linux offers an easy way with the make.sh script to export a actual running system (with the programs above installed) to an ISO.

So the only work is to install the above programs and changes into a running system (possible in vbox) and then export to ISO.

Tinhat can take up to 5 minutes to startup..dont worry about any error messages...just give it its time Smiley

The bounty taker has to provide a written tutorial how he did it step-by-step !

39  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Bitmessage - P2P Messaging system based partially on Bitcoin on: June 02, 2013, 12:36:11 PM
Bitmessage doesn't seem to be playing very well with Tor. It's giving all sorts of warnings.

Works without any problems..

TOR just warns you that a 3rd party program is using the connection may leak DNS information.

BUT Bitmessage doesnt request any DNS infos..( correct if I am wrong though).

So you are completely safe..BUT it still be nice to get rid of this messages..

Also my nix warns me all the time of an unknown email client using un-encrypted connections...

gotta live with that Smiley

Aetheros ... just wondering if there is a use case [for] a reputation scoring system [with] Bitmessage addresses?

Only about a thousand possible use cases. I've long thought that an actual working distributed web of trust would be as revolutionary as the Internet: imagine having a complete stranger walk up to you on the street outside your home and say, "Hey man, Can I borrow your keys like right now?" and you hold your phones up next to each other, a light turns green, you check to make sure he matches the picture on your phone, and you hand him the keys.

For Bitmessage alone it means getting rid of the PoW for identities who are sufficiently trusted, eliminating spam entirely, and obviously integration with other systems which depend on feedback and trust of identities.

As far as implementation of the distributed web of trust, I'm not sure how it would work but there does appear to be a lot of research on the topic. We could use someone who can recommend some set of papers to read first since there is so much.
Some background about bitcoin-otc:

yes excellent !!

DO IT ! Smiley
