With the usual ~70 Day turn-around for Chips that puts you a little past mid January for your first silicone.

the usual 70 day turn-around is for people who don't pay extra to the fab to expedite the process

Turn around is commonly closer to 60 days, and we are expediting the process in several different ways. Ever since mock tape out we have been streamlining every piece of the manufacturing process so that we can deliver at break neck speed as soon as we receive chips.

Hello,
Thank you for your input. We did indeed list the December ship-date TerraMiner IV @ $13,999, and the January ship-date for $5999. If there is some confusion feel free to contact us here or via info@cointerra.com

Ive emailed cointerra not to long ago to ask about the type/size of PSU's they were using for their 2th/s unit.

Needless to say, they couldn't give me a solid answer just "we estimate we will be using dual 1100s", but wasnt certain.

I had also asked if the PSU's were server/redundant or standard ATX, if they met 80 gold or above standards.  In the end I got a screen shot of a 1100w psu that could have been grabbed from just about anywhere with none of that information needed.

I am not at all questioning these guy's abilities in what they can do, they are all obviously qualified ENGINEERS. The one thing I do see different with these gents is, none of them have run the entire ship.  Just departments of, which is fine. Though could very well lead to a late arrival. due to the desire of perfection/standard engineers flaw.  Normally that is a great thing, sadly its a slightly different nature with btc.

I hope they deliver, I really do. I like their ideas/ team.

Hello,
Sorry for the delay in answer. We have indeed chosen our power supply (PSU) supplier and we are equipping our TerraMiner series with power supplies from Power One (http://www.power-one.com). Our decision was based on the need for exceptionally reliable power sources for durability and reliability.

The CoinTerra Team

Are you guys really going to delivery early January?  I really do want test out your system but the difficulty rate is rising too quickly.  It's hard to tell if any miner will even get ROI let alone a profit.  I started using cloud mining which has been fun so far.

Progress continues toward meeting our target ship date. We have completed a mock-tapeout. Final tapeout is imminent and will be announced shortly. Regarding power supplies we build our TerraMiner series to be the most powerful unit on the market, using the very minimum of power and Power One is an essential part in this equation.

Hello,
Just wanted to weight in and let everyone know that we are still on target for our delivery dates.
28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: CoinTerra announces its first ASIC - Hash-Rate greater than 500 GH/s on: October 24, 2013, 03:49:20 PM
We are very much on track for our shipping schedule, production time involves a lot of factors outside of just tape-out and we have our supply chain set up to minimize lead time.

Our partners are all lined up to produce miners at peak capacity and all components for the TerraMiner series will be ready for assembly at high capacity with minimal build time for our shipments.

Hello maursader,
we would love to have you visit our office and meet the team. I will PM you and we can set up a date for you to visit our offices and the beautiful city of Austin.

Didn't get that PM yet, see below:

@cointerra, I have sent you a PM.

Still waiting on that reply. I hope this doesn't signify the speed at which potential consumers will receive their ASIC machines. Seriously.

Hello Maursader,
We apologize for the delay. PM'd you promptly after the post, not sure why you did not get the message. Sending you another message asap so that we can plan for your visit.

There are quite a few factors that weight in to the time between mock-tape out and the tape-out itself. Depending on how much information you supply for the mock-tape out there does not have to be a significant time laps between mock tape-out, tape-out and production.

You can expect tape-out announcement soon and we are indeed still on time table for our production.

That's good to hear.

One thing I think your customers deserve is a 9-5 customer service representative whom they can speak to. I mean, we have invested 1000's of dollars.
KnCMiner provided this to their customers, and although I am sure they received hundreds of calls per day, it put all of their investors at ease, which results in positivity regarding your name (something BFL knows nothing about).

Just my BTC.02

Hello,
Thank you for your input. We do have customer service staffed well beyond 9-5 and they are more than happy to call you back if you contact us. Just send an email to support@cointerra.com and our CR team will happily call you back asap.

We believe that the best companies in the industry can do is be transparent to the customers and this is something we intend to be.

https://picostocks.com/businessplan/31

 Huh

We will be communicating more information on the Picostocks listing. In short I can say that the Picostocks listing is not CoinTerra as a corporate entity selling shares but rather Picostocks as a company investing in CoinTerra and selling a form of pass-through ownership. We have a conversation open with Picostocks and will be making a clarifying statement regarding this.
33  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Which one to buy right now ASICMiner Blade or CoinTerra? on: October 22, 2013, 05:21:01 PM
Hah! I was in the same dilemma a week ago. I did make a decision however.

So with the blades, they will cost you roughly the same as the Cointerra. The upside is that you get them right away. So you can start making BTC right away, before the difficulty goes nuts, which it will. On the other side you have the Cointerra that you have to wait a month for, but its 10x faster. Thats mega. I think the Blades life will expire when you hit January/Feb if the Diff keeps going the way it is. With the Cointerra, maybe the Diff slows down a bit for a few months, maybe not. Worst case scenario, with the cointerra you will have something that is 10x faster and worth more in the end. Plus it would make a great alt coin raper.

Now if you really want to roll the dice, get the blades now and mine, sell them in January when your Cointerra comes in.. Yes buy both and keep one.

Oh, so what did I do? I ordered the Cointerra without their protection and am praying it comes on time. Anyone know of a reliable god?

Thank you for your input.

Just wanted to weight in and mention that we expect our miners to ship on schedule and thank you for your order. If you have any questions you are more than welcome to contact us at info@cointerra.com
34  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Mining ASIC coming soon on: October 22, 2013, 03:41:44 PM
I'd like to see cointerra's input on this.

Of course no one in the ASIC industry can make any guarantees when it comes to ROI times etc. However, looking at diff increases historically and the ROI of CPU/GPU and first gen ASIC we foresee that our miners will indeed have quite a long time of very healthy ROI on arrival.

The basis for this is not primarily diff increase speculation but the fact that diff as a function follows the general rule that people will mine until their miners simply are not profitable any longer. We can see this in the plateau in the technological shifts so far and there really is no reason to expect a different behavior with Gen 2 ASIC. Meaning that when 28nm in this case becomes the 'standard' for Bitcoin mining, both GPU (already happened to a large extent) and Gen 1 ASIC will be forced off the network as a result of no longer being profitable.

What we expect here is that the dominant technology will be the best Gen 2 ASIC from a hash-rate/power consumed standpoint, and until Gen 3 ASIC hits the market these miners will provide ROI.

As CoinTerra produces ASIC with what is currently slated to be the most profitable hash-rate/power consumption calculation, we are confident that our miners will provide ample ROI as the leading technology for mining Bitcoin quickly and with low power consumption.

Sorry for the wall of text.

The CoinTerra Team

The problem is.... you see.... your customers will be COMPETING with YOU/YOUR TEAM in mining as well (so being the most efficient hardware is pointless) Guess who will have the upper hand?

If anyone here dont see this, they deserve to lose their bet.

We are not planning on setting up any form of mining operation before we deliver hardware to our customers. We also plan on offer very competitive hosting solutions allowing our customers to push our miners ROI as far as possible.

The CoinTerra Team

I never said you will have mining operation b4 shipping. As long as you have plan for a mining operation during shipping or even afterward, you will be competing with your customer. So your estimated ROI for your customer is MOOT.

Its also a conflict of interest.

Either you're purely operating as a hardware vendor for general public or you're not....(cant be producing hardware for your own mining operation or any private mining). Its very tempting because you can:
1. Fund your mining operation thro sales from your customers (oversold your products)
2. Having private deal with mining corps (oversold again)

Your customer got shafted either way.

Thank you for your input, and to clarify:

We do not have any set plans on running an in-house mining operation.

Our priority is and have always been to deliver the fastest and most effective Bitcoin mining hardware to our customers. I absolutely understand the logic behind your argument as this has been a subject of contention in the ASIC industry ever since the beginning, even in regards to burn-in testing on the test-net or on the live Bitcoin network etc.

We believe that the best companies in the industry can do is be transparent to the customers and this is something we intend to be.

Thanks for that post. I'd like to hear more on this.

@Cointerra, I'm from Canada. I'd like to come down and visit you guys, check out the scene if possible. If all checks out, I'd like to buy a few.. starting with 5, or more. @Cointerra - Can you please PM me about this? I'm very interested.

We are indeed on track for our delivery times. Mock tape-out was performed and our tape out is very near. The community can expect more information soon as we get closer to production.

FWIW, hashfast claimed to have done their mock tape out well before august 20th:
https://hashfast.com/countdown-to-tapeout/

2 months later they are still several weeks from shipping.

Ill take your claims of shipping in december with at least the same amount of salt I took with HF's october claims and KnC's september claims. Lets just hope we dont need butterfly quantities of salt.

There are quite a few factors that weight in to the time between mock-tape out and the tape-out itself. Depending on how much information you supply for the mock-tape out there does not have to be a significant time laps between mock tape-out, tape-out and production.

hey cointerra, your website is broken.

Thank you for the notification. We are working on a couple things on the back end and adding additional features, so the site should be back up and fully functional soon.
