Dear Participants,

We are very sorry that the refunding process sometimes takes longer than one would expect. However we are working hard on improving this situation. Due to a technical glitch, a user was unable to withdraw his funds. In view of the problems encountered by MtGox (please, refer to the article for details http://www.coindesk.com/massive-concerted-attack-launched-bitcoin-exchanges/), we manually double-check all refund requests.

We have identified and fixed the above mentioned glitch and added additional members to our support team to handle these situations more efficiently, should they ever occur again.

We would like to reassure you once again, that our technologies are among the best in their class when compared with any competing exchange. All our developers have worked on mass-scale projects such redesigning the core architecture of stock exchanges (notably NYSE and LSE) and LP back-ends.

Once again, our apologies,

The hitbtc team.
For me so far the withdrawals are either lightning fast or "fail" within seconds of initiating.
There has never been a delay for me but I'am only talking 0.2-0.4 ish testers.

I'am sending more funds but my account has not been verified since I applied on 17/02,how long is verification likely to take.?
22  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Announcing brand new Bitcoin Exchange - hitbtc on: February 26, 2014, 10:52:01 AM
Withdrawals are working even faster today. Took less than a minute.
Got an e-mail to say they had some maintenance but withdrew 0.2 just now and it was fast again.

Edit :All my withdrawals went through flawlessly today .

Shame they do not have market orders ,which is a surprise for a new trading platform.

My question is how does the market move with no market orders to move it by traders???
23  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Announcing brand new Bitcoin Exchange - hitbtc on: February 25, 2014, 07:42:41 PM
There are a couple of small offers below the size offer. I think the market making bot backs off if you lift the small offers. My bid to try and take some size was unfilled but I became the best bid and got filled a few seconds later.
How have withdrawals been for you ?
A couple transactions went through fine ,but I have been trying for half hour to withdraw bitcoins with no success ,tried different amounts ranging from 0.1 to 0.4 and none are successful.

As I said yesterday ,I'am attempting to buy 0.1 btc and see how withdrawals are .
Issues so far :-
1) I have run into my first issue that their are no options to buy at market ,I cannot simply put an order in to buy 0.1 at market ,I have to specify a price ,how does the hitbtc market move if all the orders are limit orders ??
2) I bought 0.1 btc with a limit order at the closest ask ,but issue 2, when I try to open the account tab which I need to do to transfer my btc to the main account were I should be able to withdraw from I receive OOPS ERROR !!!!

3 Ok waited couple minutes and the accounts page opened and I successfully transfered my 0.1btc now I will see how long a withdrawal takes .

4) Withdrawal of 0.1btc initiated at 12:56pm .

5) WOW the coins are in my wallet now ,very very impressed.Faster than Bitstamp even.

Edit : Tried to withdraw 0.4 btc and the message is it failed ,have attempted 2 more times all with failed message this is at 18:51 gmt again at 18:52 then lastly at 18:55 .
25  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Announcing brand new Bitcoin Exchange - hitbtc on: February 25, 2014, 01:04:17 AM
where are you guys located at Huh??

have anyone traded with them lately Huh

they are in Panama.
26  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Announcing brand new Bitcoin Exchange - hitbtc on: February 25, 2014, 01:01:17 AM
I have been watching the price on Hitbtc ,I have noticed that price always stays $20 to $30 below bitstamp ,but there are no trades to support the price going lower or higher how is this possible ?
The time and sales say the last trade was $501.16 yet the order book is at BID:$485,19 and ask :$487.78 surely the last trade should be between these two figures or is the price tracking another exchange until volume increases on the HITbtc platform ?
I will buy some tomorrow and test the withdrawals ,but if this $30 below Bitsatamp continues and I can withdraw btc quickly I will be a happy chappy .

Asked for the wire instruction twice now but have not received anything. Are you open? Want to trade again with you.

They appear to be off the beach in Panama city and have wired some more money. The swift code has appeared on the wire instruction.
I send bitstamp money a couple times a week ,The iban and swift are the exact same every time ,So you should be fine using the same details .
I have sent some money as a tester and will buy coins and try out the withdrawal process and report back.

My first trade was successful and got the bitcoin in two minutes.
After hearing this I decided to give it a go since the platform looks very professional .

Dear overunity,

Sorry for the delay. Please try to input the SWIFT code in three boxes (eg. XXXX - XX - XX). Leave the last one blank.

Dear xyzxyzxyz,

Sure, you can use the same instructions for wire transfer.
Thank you ,My bank did exactly that .

Explain ,please show proof that mining has contributed in some way to the price collapse on gox.

Just think like you're the owner of a large company that manufactures and exploitation of mining hardware.
Put yourself in his position, how to earn more money ?

If I owned a large manufacturing plant dedicated to bitcoin hardware I would pray that bitcoin price rose exponentially so that more people could buy my equipment and profit from doing so .
How do you not understand this ?
It is very easy for the average intelligent person to understand that the lower bitcoins price the less profitable mining hardware will be .
I know for months you keep posting ridiculous nonsensicle comments and no matter how any one tries to educate you ,you simple refuse to grasp the basics .
Either you really cannot grasp the concept of bitcoin or you are doing this for some alternate reason.
If there is something you are not getting please ask .

First for an exchanges price to be able to drop people locked into MTgox need to have people who wish to sell and people who are willing to buy .

There are a lot of people on gox who are panicking and selling ,recently there was a millionaire investor that advertised in this forum that he was prepared to buy coins from anyone holding goxcoins and do an internal transfer, this liquidity provided by millionaire investors is what has allowed the price to drop,do not forget that every trade needs people who are willing to buy as well as those who are panicking and selling .
The millionaires have perhaps been reassured by Mark Karpeles that this issue is going to be short lived and they believe him.

Millionaire become Millionaires by accepting high risk propositions .
If anyone buys bitcoin on gox at $160 ish while all other exchanges are $600  they accept the risk and will deserve the rewards should they get anything at all.
personally the issue around transaction malleabilty should have been quickly resolved ,the fact that GOX is still accepting deposits but not withdrawals is a red herring ,they are sucking people dry before they declare bankruptcy .

I think it's time for the mining expired, and that's the main reason for of these events !

What is happening at GOX has zero to do with mining

You need to put the swift code on your wire instructions. I had to google it. How many days does it take for you to receive a wire?

Dear xyzxyzxyz,

Thank you for this suggestion, we will add the SWIFT code in the wire transfer instruction.
Usually it takes 1-3 business days for funds to appear on your account. May we ask you where are you located, so we can tell you more exact time?
I asked Hitbtc for a swift code but what they sent did not fit into the boxes my bank supplied ,so this left me a bit hesitant ,I want to make sure that I do not make a mistake and my money gets lost .
I would feel reassured if there was phone support .
In the swift code my bank requires there are 4 boxes When I put the code into these boxes the form reports an error and will not allow me to send the funds .

That may be the iban #.
No the iban code went into the provided boxes fine .
The swift code however does not .

You do understand that value to Bicoin is given by mining, so if mining is more expensive so is the Bitcoin. Also people give value to Bitcoin, so if you don't like that idea you don't have to participate.

I disagree completely. Even if no one is mining, the BTCs will be worth more or less their value as of today.

We need miners otherwise Bitcoin will fail I would say the miners are keeping what the price is today.

mining is impossible, difficulty is 3.1 bilion and for next 8 days +23% !!!

Mining is extremely popular ,The evidence is here and Igorr is providing it .
For the difficulty to rise 25% in a period of 10 days that means 25% more mining power has been added to the network .
Recently we have seen 100% extra mining power per month meaning 100% more power to the network .

The only affect miners can have on price is if they sell the coins they earn through mining ,The amount of coins they earn on average never changes per 10 minutes ,If mining power increased by 1000% tomorrow still only 25 coins would come into existance on average every 10 minutes .

Remember, its most centralized currency the world has ever seen, by manufacturers mining hardware.
mining is impossible for ordinary people !!!
Yes you are correct ,only people with pots of money can mine bitcoin now ,and they need to add 25% extra hardware per 10 days .
Mining is out of the average joes capabilities now .
Mining is becoming centralised to the mining pools.
If government want to close down new bitcoin production it is becoming increasingly easy.
Guess who would be targeted first ,yep the big central pools with easily identifiable addresses .Mining then would return to the small anonimous individuals .

I'am a bit wary of trying this out since there is no mention of Hitbtc in the payment info ,I added them to my payee list but do not want to pull the trigger till I see some feedback from others that have experience with them .

This is getting to be a joke. When someone comes to me and says "how do we open a successful exchange", the first thing I say is "Put your damn name on the site with a legal corporation and you are already the top 5 exchanges without any volume"
This is what I get from my research:

“HITBTC” was founded by “Ullus Corporation”. The company was incorporated in 2013 and claims to be licensed as a financial company. Operating accounts were opened in “SWED Bank” and “SEB Bank”. Swedbank AB is a Nordic-Baltic banking group offering retail banking, asset management, financial, and other services with Stockholm. The latter Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB is also a Nordic bank Its activities comprise mainly banking services, but SEB also carries out significant life insurance operations and also owns Eurocard.

Ullus Corporation's website is down (ulluscorp.com), but looking at a cached version of the site it says "The company’s headquarters, since its inception, are located in Hong-Kong" and also repeatedly talk about their Financial License, but don't say from which country. (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://www.ulluscorp.com/)
This is where it get's interesting, the company also registered CatPay.com which is some sort of a Bitcoin wallet. Both domains are now under private registration and try to not be connected to each other. CatPay's customer service line is in Estonia.
Both of those domains are owned by ulluscorp.com which has been taken down. You can easily get RAW versions of the old Whois file on the registration

Anyways, I'll have some of my friends in Panama check out their office to see if it exists.

Yes that was another reason ,Best to see if anyone has any feedback .
