Interesting that at the same time hashrate moves down. Who will support the network while almost all coins are mined?
VIA is merge mined with LTC. if all mined can change to pos or other and all mined need more time... its merge mined, which means miners get coins essentially for free For now you are right, but over roughly 115 days all 23,000,000 coins are mined and who knows what will happen then. I don't think that mining pools will continue to support merged mining when they don't get a single penny reward for it.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong repo, most of the commits seem to do nothing at all and some are just constant changes, not much coding IMHO.
That was before the new dev came in. Check for commits by user "reorder" I see a few changes and additions like CheckAuxPowValidity(), you can hardly call this a lot of code added. But lets give the devs the benefit of the doubt and hope that the bugs in 0.13 are fixed within a couple of days.

98% pre-mine? Why do people still own this coin? I sold as soon as I found out and the shady devs wouldn't answer about it.
This coin was distributed by ICO If I remember well 10 million coins were pre-mined and sold as ICO, I wonder what drak did with the money, it was certainly not invested in further development of the coin. Anyway this has nothing to do with the current devs.

Lot of code added in the last 48 hours. I will do a follow up post later. We are definitely moving forward now ! So in those last 48 hours we have been working to fix merged mining and find the existing bugs. You can see the commits on Github. I'm not sure how to explain it all to "non crypto programmers". But the development is definitely going well. The other dev is very productive too. That's great to hear. Who is the other developer? Or does he want to stay incognito for now? incognito but that makes it more mysterious right ? ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Or makes everything look less trustworthy... one of the two You should check out the github the new dev is really popping the commits out Maybe I'm looking at the wrong repo, most of the commits seem to do nothing at all and some are just constant changes, not much coding IMHO.

It is my guess that the guy refers to the 10 MLN VIA premine that was offered as an ICO when the coin started 3 years ago. BTCDRAK made something like $380K with this ICO which was meant for further development of the coin, but in reality all development ceased after a while.

I guess you are using wallet ver. 0.13.2.1 which is beta and contains bugs, you'd better try with ver. 0.10.11

stupid question - is there any way to extract the private key for the addresses used in the Viacoin core wallet? I didnt find any way doing so or any other way to recover in case the wallet gets lost.
You can use 'dumpprivkey viacoin-address' from the console window. If your wallet is protected by a password you first have to unlock it with 'walletpassphrase password'

anyone else having problem with Poloniex? I deposited VIA 24 hrs ago and haven't showed up yet, its showing 717 confirmations already.
I had the same a couple of days ago, it turned out to be that the transaction was not broadcasted to the network at all, how a transaction can show confirmations while it has not been broadcasted is something I can't explain. You can take a look with the block-explorer if the TXID exists on the network, which in my case it didn't. I solved it by reverting back to wallet ver. 0.10.11 and a doing a zapwallettxes, the coins that were in limboland came back in my wallet and I did another deposit. Another possibility is to push the raw transaction on the network via another wallet, you have to use another wallet otherwise you will get a message that the transaction already exists. I have the impression that this problem occurs when there is a bad connection to the network at the time you send the transaction and close the wallet afterwards. Like the dev. said on the Telegram app it is probably safer to use the ver. 0.10.11 wallet till the issues with ver. 0.13.2 are solved, which is a beta version anyway.

Something fishy is going on.
This morning I tried to send a large amount of VIA to Poloniex but the coins never arrived, the transaction already has 28 confirmations but the TXID is nowhere to be seen in the block-explorer. I also see that the chain I'm on has a different length so i'm afraid that somehow the blockchain has forked.
Does this mean that the coins I sent to Poloniex are lost? Is there a way to recover these coins?
I need some help with this, hopefully the dev can explain what is going on here.
Edit:
Finally after an hour or so the TXID appeared in the block-explorer. Still the question remains why my wallet shows a lower number of blocks as the block-explorer, and the coins I sent are still not deposited into my Poloniex account, probably Poloniex is messing up, I will open a ticket. Sh*t happens.

I installed 0.13.2.1 synced 995882 blocks in 9 hours. Would it speed up if I add these nodes to the viacoin.conf ?
158.69.248.93 92.222.231.168 185.128.41.158 176.31.13.198 45.32.182.20 74.118.157.117 141.6.12.14
I assume the .conf is in the same folder as the wallet.dat ?
Yes, viacoin.conf resides in the same folder as wallet.dat. Whether adding nodes speeds up the process of syncing is something I never looked at, so I don't know. Maybe Romano can shed some light on this.

Can you paste here ip-s active nodes?
These IP are working for me: 158.69.248.93 92.222.231.168 185.128.41.158 176.31.13.198 45.32.182.20 74.118.157.117 141.6.12.14

I downloaded the viacoin wallet from viacoin.org but something seems wrong with the wallet. First when I tried my norton went crazy and kept deleting the file ( he does that with all wallets but you can restore and give permission to run it always except with viacoin) and when I finally had fixed the problem the windows setup turned immediately into the wallet itself ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) so maybe that is normal just havent seen it before? And now its syncing but is goes so slow, i see blocks getting downloaded but after many hours its still hasnt moved up a week ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) still have 2 years and 37 weeks to go. What am I missing here? If you have never used VIA before I guess your problem is that the 0.10.11 release is only the wallet executable and not an installer. I had the same problem when I tried to install VIA on a second computer, first installing 0.10.8 and replacing the executable with 0.10.11 solved it in my case.

More updates on the site will come. The front-page picture has changed, I might be wrong but that is the only difference I can see. I wonder why there is there no direct link on the website to download the 64 bit QT wallet for Windows? It clearly exists here: https://github.com/viacoin/viacoin/releases/download/v0.10.8/viacoin-0.10.8-win64-setup.exeEdit: Ah I see now that there is a link to GitHub where you can download all the executables, sorry that I missed this, nothing said.

Very quiet here lately... Any info about how the development is progressing?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm buying this shit. VIA at this price is a bargain.
Me too! Yes me too, at the current price you can hardly go wrong with it. I bought a lot of Via when it was still sitting at 30k, so this is really a bargain. And when it unexpectedly fails I'm not going to be bankrupt either. Win-win all the way. By any definition. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, you hear? So what? Let everybody make his own decision without interference by somebody else.

Certainly funny. The guy in that movie looks like a broke ass mutha fucka who relies on crack to sustain daily life. Wonder why he didn't show the banana he's gotten from Garza.
