Read "Properly tuned" as a combination of overclocking, undervolting and an optimized scrypt algorithm. Its definitely possible to get 650KHS at 200-210W running in the low 70s. Though I agree with you that the VaporX will have a better edge over the DualX in cooling.
I pointed you to the litecoin wiki, you should check it out. No serious miner ever runs his cards without underl volting. That's one of the reason why sapphires are so popular as they are voltage unlocked. Despite under voting, when you ramp up the core, it's going to eat 220W which will read 250ish at the wall. I've personally tuned 5 off 7950 and honestly speaking I prefer keeping them them in a safe range of OC so temperatures don't run anything over 90C. It's a case of diminishing returns where a sacrifice if 20-30 kh/s for a 5C temp drop is preferable. And keeping within the safe range I've gotten 650 with only one vapor x. Another point is, the new vapor x use 2 of 8pin pcie, probably hinting they use more wattage. I'll be getting a kill a watt myself soon. Right. Since I am not so serious , I thought I would reply to your message with pictures. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Here's one of Doge. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F81qyN1y.jpg&t=663&c=QLLYblZWS0nw-g) Here's one of a 3x7950 doing 1.96 MHS at 74C with 740W at the wall. Considering the system pulls 140W at idle, I am guessing 200W - 210W per card at full load. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F5msuPbT.jpg&t=663&c=0yWRkrzd9yAcTQ) p.s. Sorry, jinson, for crapping all over your thread.

R9 280x v had taken the crown from 7950 as the king of mining. They give ~750kh vs 600kh of 7950, cost 23k new. That's why I wonder why 7950s are selling at such inflated prices
R9s run 250W v/s 200W of the 7950. A properly tuned 7950 can put out 650KHS with ease. So really you are only getting 100KHS extra at 20% more power utilization. Good prices though, @jinson. Best of luck on your sale.

IMHO, I personally think something is off with your drivers. You haven't got something correct in the OS/drivers. If your hardware is working fine at I=13, it should work fine at I=20.
Did you by any chance have an Nvidia card on the system before this ? Are those drivers still on the system?
Edit : Can you do a fresh Windows install ?

I didn't mine with you guys before, but I definitely will once you guys are up and running, just because of your response to the hack.

Have you downloaded AMD App SDK ? Which version ?
yes, i downloaded it when i downloaded catalyst 13.9. I don't remeber the version...one of the last, i suppose.. Make sure you have installed the latest SDK. It is very important for mining. Your SDK version actually affects hashrate more than the drivers. In your Add/Remove Programs, you should see both Catalyst and SDK. If you want to try a clean install , this link here can help you out with setting up your miner. This link will help you understand how to overclock and optimize your rig. I was getting about 575KHS per card with no overclocking at all and I haven't seen HW errors ever.

Is anyone else getting really low payouts on DOGE? I am pointed 2 MHS at DOGE for the last few days and was getting a pretty decent payout. Its dropped down to about 10% of what I got 2 days ago. I don't get it ,my rejects and stales aren't bad 4% ish. Difficulty hasn't changed too much. The pool is still mining a load of DOGE, but I can't seem to get any of the action. ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) I am trying different different difficulties but no go. I'm getting tons of payouts on DOGE. Are you going by your payout listing, or by what's showing up in Cryptsy? If using Cryptsy, don't. Use Coins-E or Vircurex instead. Cryptsy regularly has problems where deposits take forever to show up. (I have a DMD deposit that's long overdue at Crypsty... ) Also remember there is quite a bit of hashrate running on DOGE, although it's decreased a bit in the last 18 hours or so. That means you'll get less per block, but there should be more blocks. Until difficulty increases. M For some reason , I only made a fraction of what I should have been. I've looked through my cgminer logs but I can't figure it out. I switched to DGC for a bit, and switched back and everything looks ok now.

The msi version of the r9 280x is better than the sapphire (slightly) but costs around 2-3k more.
Any reasons for this ? Better Hash rate / better cooling/ lower power consumption?

if you overclock your card it need more voltage, undervolt will make the card crash. Actually no, some cards can be overclocked and undervolted. I am running 3x7950 at 1050/1500 MHz , undervolted to 1.05V/1V/1V and getting 650KHS per card.. Depends on the card and ASIC quality really. But , yes, the card will crash if you undervolt beyond a point.

im mining TIPS
I have this on my batch file
FedoraCoin (TIPS):
cudaminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://pool1.us.multipool.us:3357 -u <login>.<worker> -p <password>
but its mining DOGE?!
why?
Port 3357 is for TIPS. Port 3352 is for DOGE. Look on the home page for the list of ports.

Hi, i m mining single-coin at the moment, and that is MNG. I would like to see more info about what i m mining in my stats-page, instead of the info that i see what the multi-pool is mining at the moment. Can you do that?

I recently got 16x and 1x riser powered riser cables from Ebaycom. Look for sellers from Hong Kong. Easily available and got them in 2 weeks. Putting an order in for more which hopefully should arrive by mid Jan sometime.

I started with thread concurrency 8192 and intensity 13, and bumped up both the values bit by bit. The cards would typically give you ~300 KHS at that setting, but which I will probably use in summer. 7950s work best on 21712 or 24000 thread concurrency. Also the cards are sitting on risers in the open with 2 case fans blowing on them which drops temperatures quite a bit. Right now , the rig runs at about 75C - 77C with fans at 50%. Its still a work in progress though.

My config file settings are below: I had to play around with the voltages a bit and also the Flex had its voltage locked, so had to edit the bios on that card. I am still figuring it all out though. I got the first card about 3 weeks ago, and the full rig has only been up for a few days now.

Could you guys put in your miner configs? I am running a 3x7950 (2 Sapphire Vapor-X OC, 1 Dual X Flex OC ), all undervolted, and I get about 620 KHS off each card. I have gone up to 680 KHS, but then power and temperatures go overboard.
