21  Economy / Computer hardware / 11 Avalon Reference Units w/o chips on: September 23, 2013, 09:48:11 PM
Want to sell 11 avalon units - boards and cables only. No chips, no casing, no radiators. These are avalon clones.
Chips have never been soldered to the hashing boards.

10 btc each set (1 x control unit, 1 x power distributor, 4 x backplanes, 32 x hashing boards. Capable to house 320 chips). Each unit has full set of cables, except the USB cable between the router and the control board.

Got 2 spare control boards, each priced 1.5 btc.

The units are sold in sets, so don't ask for separate parts.

Location: Ruse, Bulgaria, EU

The payment can be escrowed, but you have to pay the taxes.

I'll prefer to ship within EU. Shipping outside EU is possible, but it will be rather expensive, as I'll ship with DHL only. In both cases shipping is buyers responsibility.
22  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group buy] Avalon chips Escrow John K / Please check refund list until Sunday on: September 21, 2013, 10:00:51 PM
I don't nor can't see the point of this to be decided by vote, signed message, etc. Whoever feels that he/she must leave the fee to marto74, should leave it. Whoever does not feel this way - he/she shouldn't.

After all, everybody blames on Avalon for missed obligations - the group buyers didn't get their chips, had blocked coins for more than 3 months, in which time frame many things could have happened with this coins if they were in hand. Same goes to Martin, if somebody claims his/her fee to be returned, he can blame it on Avalon, as we all do.

As for me, I didn't order any boards for Martin, I have 11 avalon reference design units in cartoon box next to me, for which I throw my time and money beside the fee for the chips and I don't feel I have to leave the fee to Martin, so I'll be glad to get it back, sorry.

My fee of 7 % will be voted in Monday by all participants  excluding  jkminkov

If we assume that jkminkov would have voted against the fee, the votes for his 980 chips are missing. Also, I think that mainly people who requested a refund will vote against the fee (everybody else gets the chips for the conditions they agreed to, so no reason to vote against the fee). Currently, there are refund requests for 5557 chips [1]. If you exclude jkminkov's 980, there are 4577. So even if everybody who requested a refund, votes against the fee, it is impossible to reach over 5000 votes (50% of group buy).

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your work on the ASIC hardware. I'm just not sure if this is a fair vote. Why have a vote if the outcome is clear as day?

You are right .
instead of vote I'll ask everybody of the refunded orders to decide himself

Why the refund amount is 0.93852?

As written before, I have another 16 chips from user vellen, which marto74 keeps ignoring to transfer them to my purchase and obviously I can't sign for them. I've confirmation for purchase on PM and I can dig up the transaction in the blockchain if this is required. Those 16 chips goes for refund, too.

I'm sure, you will ignore this quest... But can you make any like this for solo?

Support for solo mining is planned and is in progress.

Hello, as difficulty continues to rise, this question started to bothers me more and more. (and I'm sure not only me) Is there any development over the solo mining usage of jhPrimeminer?

First one are chips I've purchased from user vellen. Marto, I've PM-ed you several times to fix this, vellen told me he send you confirmation for the purchase, but yet vellen's purchase remains on his name.

As for the vote, my vote is for asap refund with 1320 chips from Batch#1.

and Batch2 can NOT get refund?

According to Avalon rules - no. But I suppose if they are asked, they will give refund over this batch, but the situation with Batch 2 is complicated, because it combines small orders from different Group Buy orders and I have no idea how all the group buy organizers with the customers in this batch will agree on this happening. But I'm pretty sure if it comes to this, decision will be made.

I think in the vote should participate users that are in this GB i.e. have purchased chips in this group buy.

The other thing I can't see, how the count of each person chips reflects on the weight of the vote.
As of now, a owner's vote who owns 128 chips, weights as much as the one who owns 1000, which I don't think is right.

Everybody can check here what is the status of the orders: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=277198.0

There is no movement around deliveries, for anybody, so I highly doubt that our chips are on the way.

Even if I'm 60% for getting chips and 40% for refunds, there are plenty of things that you can't foresee in this equation. I've calculated the growth of difficulty by 20% and this successfully worked till about 50 millions, when was the time we were supposed to receive our chips. Now we are witnessing jumps by 50% and the more the asic competition develops their products the higher this step will be. Now imagine 50% jump at a difficulty of 200 mils, what I think it will be by the time we receive this chips - again - if Yifu manages to send out as he promised. If he fails, as all the evidence so far are pointing to this direction, and we manage to get our chips in the middle or end of October it will be best just to throw the chips away.

I wouldn't bet my head over 3 months ROI or 6 months ROI or whatever, if those chips are not mining in the last days of September. Even then it might be late.

Bottom line is this chip pre-order was a big risk in the begging. Now the risk increased dramatically.

I haven't decided what to do yet myself. The only solution to this is a simple vote on the matter. Majority wins.

I am with marto on this one:
I want my chips sent to my assembler.
I do not want a refund.

can you explain why?

do you have a method and you will see ROI ?

do you know something that we do not know?

- or is more like curiosity... to see the PCB populated and up and running knowing that you will NEVER get your invested money back... and talking about profit is useless

Yep
1. I don't need them to ROI, i have payed with bitcoins mined from my farm witch have ROI-d itself long time ago. So this is reinvestemnt for me.
2. I don't pay for electricity
3. They will ROI. It will take 4 months for that according to my calculations.

I agree with Skrubalov. For those who don't know or don't care about the details, the bitcoin price is always following the difficulty. Furthermore, the introduction of new technology always boosts the prices higher (see the timeframe when the first ASICs came into game by Avalon). That said, i can "almost" promise you that the bitcoin price will not stay at $140 - $150, it will climb even higher. So when you draw the line after mining for one month, you will get almost the same amount of money. Right now, with the difficulty of 65 million, the price of the BTC counterbalances marvelously the difficulty, making the ROI exactly 3 months for one full klondike miner together with chips! Not a single day more than i have calculated back in May while starting the Group-Buy.
So my advice is DON'T PANIC! Never panic, because it doesn't solve anything. Everything is going to be fine and i promise i'll do my best to make it be ok for you guys.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: August 15, 2013, 04:33:47 AM
I think that the "solo mining" here is refereed as "solo" where you run your wallet on 1 computer and others available connect to it, instead of running different wallets to all nodes you have.

The solo mining you give as answer is well know (or can be found great deal of examples).

And what for solo miner?

You are talking about Avalon chips, right? When did you place the order with Avalon?

By looking at the blockchain for the escrow address it looks like we are at somewhere around 7433 ordered now? (there is one payment of 30.092 that doesnt add up to an even amount of chips when divided by 0.081 or 0.079)
http://blockchain.info/fb/12o8iq

This is the PM i've sent to t13hydra yesterday...

Hello, I'm sending 28,512 btc for 352 chips (352 x 0.081 = 28.512)
Beside that, I'm sending 1.58 btc for the escrow fee for my previous transaction.
Payment of total: 30.092

My bitcoin address is: 1L1yVgod8mAhBqQNY1t6mjz9F1RyufDiMd

Please confirm if you see the transaction correct

Don't wonder, everything is ok.

Hi, I've read every page and can't seem to find if cost of materials and your fee for completed miner have been stated.  I see assembly cost, maybe that covers materials.  I know you are keeping the fee low for chips, but is there also no fee for handling?  Any idea what shipping will be?

The price of the materials (PCB + elements, different from the Avalon chips) will be added in this 75-100 Euro estimated price for the Klondike (16 chips design) PCB. If there is a fee, it will be added in the price  of the PCB (completed board + elements, different from Avalon chips).
The final price of the asic miner will be:
1. [price of avalon chips]
+
2. [price of PCB]
+
3. [price of Fans, Radiators, Power Supply, Case].

I suppose position 3 will be optional. For example I will not need Cases for miners, I plan making waterblocks for my miners, which will remove the need for fans and radiators, I'll try to make power supply on my own. So in my case position 3 will not be calculated in my final price.

Shipping to you will depend on your location. If you are outside EU, you might have to pay (import taxes + VAT) in your country, but this is highly individual for each and every country. The cost of the shipping will be the least of the whole price. For example, if you are outside EU, and you order 2-3 bare PCB (no Fans, no Radiators, no power supply, only PCB with all soldered elements) there is very good chance you package to pass customs without paying anything, as it will be small package. But if you have 20 boards, with fans, radiators, power supply's, it will be big and heavy package, which will most likely attract attention when in customs and it will checked, for which you'll have to pay VAT and import taxes.
