open repair with bitmain, for US customers you ship to their US facility in CA

Thanks! I'm glad having it repaired in the US is an option. That should save enough on shipping costs to make it worthwhile to get it fixed. About how long did it take to get back?

takes a couple weeks
Warranty repair? Did you have to ship the entire unit? I'm trying my luck with bitmainwarranty for my broken board, dealing with bitmain is so hard.

no after emailing barbara she walked me through the process of shipping the individual board
Weird, their website says the entire unit needs to be sent. Who is barbara and how did you get her contact info?

shes their tech support person that replies to emails

man ive got 2 units doing the same thing (one board on each unit gone and log shows 0 asics)

i had this issue a few weeks ago on another board and I sent it to the US facility and got it back repaired.. but now a different board is gone on each unit LOL

and the board I got sent back has missing o's ( 9 to be exact) so instead of like

oooooooo oooooooo
it shows
oooooooo oooo

great repair service  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

.. so now ill attempt to send the hash boards that are now disapearing and see what happens.. not sure if i should send back the one with missing chips AGAIN

Shocked geeze...that sucks. Was it Bitmainwarranty.com that you sent it to? Also, did you go through Bitmain's ticket/support system and then they told you to ship it there, or you just paid to have the US facility fix it since shipping to and from China would take too long?

Has anyone had to do a warranty return/repair? I have a hashboard that doesn't show up anymore on the status page.

This is what happened: I was running Blissz and it was showing me inflated hashrates on chain0 and failing with xxxx's. I rebooted and changed frequencies/voltages but nothing seemed to help. I switched back to the stock firmware and after some trial and error I was able to get chain0 to run normally. It ran for a couple of days and then just disappeared from the status page. I saw in the kernel log that it shows chain0 as having an asic count of 0 instead of 60. Also, I tried switching out the cables connecting the chain with cables that are known to work, and changing the slot it is connected to. I saw Bitmain also recommends reflashing the stock firmware and letting it run for 20 minutes, so I tried that as well. None of that worked, so it would seem the board is dead.

I don't know if I need to post on their support forum first asking for help, or if I can go ahead and create a help ticket, disassemble the D3 (removing chain0) and package up the faulty hashboard. Anyone know what the standard procedure is?

Return per day is like a buck sixty, right? After power?

So it'll take 3 years at your current offer to recoup costs assuming nothing changes?

Hm...  Wink

when you say assuming nothing changes did you mean diff or price? then not counting electricity its like 4-5 months ROI

but we all know diff on x11 is going nuts but I still think your 3 year estimate is a bit much

ive got 2 i bought @ 1500 ea from bitmain in the early nov batch and am letting em run with free electricity.. sad to see sellers like this sell for a loss but it is what it is.

GL with the sale OP... and remember use escrow

im having nothing but issues

after a day both of my units still go all X's on the chips even with newest firmware and downclocking freq

now one of the units has a hash board that is totally missing the last 4 chips on the chain and is getting massive HW errors

reboots, manual power cycles, nothing seems to bring the chips back (they dont even show X... just not there at all)

wonder if 2 of these is too much for a 2880w IBM PSU?
You are far exceeding a recommended draw on that PSU. I can almost promise you this is your problem.

interesting

would it be better if they were each on their own APW3-12-1600 (the slim version) ive got a few laying around i can try

Downclock to 500Mhz or lower they will pull 1100-1150 watts compare to 1215-1230watts for 537Mh and run a lot more stable.

okay i did this and before the hash board went completely missing now its back up but still showing this:

oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooo
oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooo
oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooooooo oooo

so seems like theres 6 chips on the first hash board that just dropped off for some reason

I just checked on one of my 2 units (both on latest firmware) and all the chips are x's and unit hasing at 0mh

second unit running fine.. did a reboot and will see if this happens again.. im dumb for not creating a copy of orig firmware that it was shipped with to try and flash it back to orig

edit: rebooted and now one chip is x, going to try and downclock from 537 to 531

edit2: still lowering freq as 531 was still getting lots of HW.. trying to find the sweet spot

question

when using this OS with nvidia cards, and the NV build.. we are only limited to ewbf or skunk/eth based mining programs right?

because my 1080TI's on ewbf seem to get half of what they should be hashing at

the claymore zec miner is not working with the NV build... why is this?

... Because Claymores miner is AMD ONLY ... it literally there in the name "Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner", and if that doesn't clear it up for you, it helps to go through the Readme file occasionally.

claymore-zec-v12.6

damn you are right... my bad

so smOS is basically crap for mining zec with nvidia cards

i just need to mess with overclock settings on ewbf, figured stock settings 1080ti would get 600 sol at least

Am I correct in seeing that I cannot choose different pools for different rigs with one login?  looks like they all have to be mining ETH or ZEC but multiple rigs cannot mine on their own pools?

even if I have say 1 amd rig and 1 NVidia rig.. the pool settings are global for all rigs?

37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [OS] nvOC easy-to-use Linux Nvidia Mining on: June 15, 2017, 07:24:20 AM
I had to reboot one of my rigs and upon startup the console opens and tries to start but get the permission denied error over and over.  tried multiple usb ports and same thing, going to have to re flash the usb stick

What mining client were you using before you rebooted?

mining zec on same nvOS image... I re imaged the flash drive and its up and running now after copying the old onebash over

the only thing I can think of, is I did a hard reset of the rig when I "rebooted" it since I had to relocate it and adjust some cabling before bringing it back up, could that have screwed up the xorg.conf file?

was going to switch to this on my NVidia rigs, but with no zec support ill hold off for now

how much for 1 pico setup? will I be able to use it on a bitmain 1600w psu? or does it require female connectors like a 2880w psu?

these kits are for GPU's go here for that Miner

yeah I know its for GPU's.. I want to run my gpu rigs off my bitmain psu's
