Pages and pages of Monero bagholders arguing about a coin they consider an scam. Tireless efforts of our resident Monero trolls repeating the same every day and sock puppets with very lame names just increasing the size of this thread trying to make it unreadable. They are not going to win.

The situation here is something any rational investor can think about. They are here because they are scared.

Fuck the trolls, Evan & team are doing a great job.

If you think Wolf0 is a troll.. then you've had tunnel vision for a long long time. Wolf0 writes ridiculously optimized miners for any algorithms or POWs even if they are 0day faster than anyone. The fact you think he is a troll is a display of awful groupthink and a shame. If anyone knows code and crypto its him, and you should listen to yer elders.

No he is just saying that he got the Monero developer disease which is coming here crying out loud about Evan because they can compete after copying Bytecoin....oooooooo sh!t I said it lol. CRY"P"TO here in to forums developers

P.S Are you still jealous of that 14.5k DASH I got from Mintpal? lol that made me lol when u wrote it and then delete ur post.

Oh. You must be referring to when mintpal was defrauded, and accidentally sent you 14.5k drk that you had not paid for, and literally belonged to other members of the drk community. Sure, I'm jealous you got 14.5k drk for free... but i wouldn't feel too proud about it if I were you. You got lucky, good for you. Doesn't mean you know your ass from your elbow. How about you bring up the fact I said I wish I had 14.5k drk for free next time I comment on something completely unrelated... that will definitely push the conversation along.

Not sure if this was ever linked in this thread but here is a full paper on Daniel J Burnstein's Curve25519 in depth http://cr.yp.to/ecdh/curve25519-20060209.pdf

I really love this stuff. BUT, am not there yet. I pretty much need to keep my mind busy all the time or else damage ensues. Have some understanding of cryptography, or more like cryptographic algorithms, but does anyone have any resources that might slow down the math behind cryptographic algorithms at a pace I can step through. I dont mind looking up and learning some math along the way, or perhaps a lot of math. But understanding the effects of a cryptographic algorithm, and undestanding how it does what it does are two very different levels of understanding, and I would very much appreciate if someone could point me in a direction that would bridge that gap a bit.

what kind of bot do you use? selfmade or bought?

thank you

I wrote it, I'm definitely no pro but I like python so that's what it is written in. Have it running on a couple cryptos. I get too trigger happy when trying to trade, but the bots do their work well. The best thing they can do is have patience for days, just adjusting buy / sell orders even if market is flat... which I am not personally capable of. The idea is that when I have generalized it enough that it can be deployed in a new market with new api really easily, then start creeping into stocks and other assets, and profits will likely go mostly to XMR because I love it so much. I can set the bot to do liquidity providing, but to keep a certain percent of x currency in the process, or sell off at whatever percentage or haste.

Right now the one in XMR is buying and selling, but stashing away profits in mostly XMR. It's a lot of fun, and zero maintenance once deployed. My aim is within a year or so have an LLC funneling say... 300 bots running on all types of world markets. Hopefully I'll be rich like Dan Bilzerian before the world figures out how much it needs XMR so I can bump up a few notches in the food chain. If not then I'll have learned a pretty valuable skill set. Have a ways to go but its good fun and definitely profitable. Learning some good python and stock indicator forumulas in the process. Idle hands are the devils playground so its been doing a good job of keeping me busy and out of trouble.

Still here, bot has loved the upward motions, and done just as well on the downward motions. Going to sit on my pile of XMR and not touch, but set up bots in other markets, and perhaps tweak bot to set aside profits in form of xmr. They seem to handle bordom, dumps, and pumps just fine. Time to stick my "liquidity providers" in as many markets as i can manage, perhaps divert profits towards MRO. I think the FTSE and my bots are a match made in heaven. Slow buy preasure incoming. Dump low, give the devs a chance to snag up cheap before .9, they deserve it. Just dont get caught with your pants down late to party.

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 12, 2015, 08:45:32 AM
Dethrone Monero from what? No one cares or even heard about Monero apart from people on this forum, polo exchange and monero subreddit. And most people, like you wrote, seem to agree that nothing except bitcion is needed. This is really a shame. Especially if you consider that Monero aims at providing real privacy and anonymity, and none of the privacy oriented services (like vpn or secure email providers) supports it. You would think that such providers would be first in promoting private and anonymous ways of paying for their services and products, but not.

There must be a reason for it. Maybe monero is still too young and has small market cap, which hinders it adaptation. Maybe people are scared of non-gui wallets. Or maybe they just dont care as bitcoin is "good enough". Or maybe they just think monero is yet another scam-coin. I dont know.

Prepare for incoming contradictory statements.

Using my strongest efforts to overclock my comprehension abilities, I believe I at least have a semi-clear understanding of a decent bit of what is being added / modded to a decent bit of the code. As far as I can determine, these additions are utilizing slightly obscure but absolutely top notch and in some cases mold-breaking technology (esp. 0mq and lmdb). IMO these projects seem to be in the obscure stage literally because they are SO cutting edge that they are solving problems (elegantly) that many devs / administrators don't properly realize are current / near future performance affecting issues.. bottlenecks ... failures to deal with massive amounts of accurate info transfer at top speed etc.. in a lot of fields, not just crypto. I think part of my addiction to monero is following the dev work and being introduced to tech that I really would have no chance of being exposed to otherwise. I think it is correct and admirable to nail these additions in securely before the release of official GUI.

BUT, and this is a big but, the lack of a the GUI is an enormous hindrance towards adoption. Of course VPN providers, anon mail services and DNM aren't racing to accept it, because really, its a small (but steadily growing) crowd that is able to understand the gear being packed into this baby well enough to be interested in giving the CLI a try, which means not many customers for the merchants. I'd probably stick to cli myself even after gui release, but without the GUI I don't believe there will be any sudden influx of non-speculative customers willing to try figure out how to use xmr (sorry if brutal). Once we make it easy for the user, the ridiculous tech that is designed to handle massive use without flinching as well as all the other under the hood work might not be individually identifiable by average-Joe, but they will definitely notice how quick, clean, and resilient the performance is, making the experience nice and pleasant for them as they take advantage of the refined and hardened cryptonote as well as dynamic block size and other goodies.

So for now I expect a slow increase in user base due to technically-minded people becoming aware enough of what this coin is quickly becoming that they want to take a speculative position, but I think we are still very much in the speculation stage. Emission has dropped a lot at this point which helps, but polo's withdraw limits make it REALLY annoying to load up a bunch of BTC to properly challenge market-makers intent on pushing down the price.

TLDR; These under the hood gear ups are truly making xmr pull far into the lead regarding technical prowess, should definitely be implemented before gui... and are well worth the wait. But it would be silly to expect an enormous influx of average-joe users without the gui, which means less usage and thus less incentive for merchants to spend the time to implement it as payment option.

Sidenote: The price suppression is pretty heavy handed and obvious, but is effective currently. I think its partly because of individuals and or companies wanting to make large entries while maximizing their purchasing power with no real intent of selling at low prices.  It is REALLY annoying to withdraw large sums from polo without submitting blood sample, and many have been around long enough to not feel comfortable loading up 60 btc on an exchange that's going to take forever to withdraw in tiny little chunks.

Total Masternodes: 3038 = 3038 actives  Grin

Somebody just wants to accumulate more cheap Masternodes.  Grin

(Some minutes ago number went back to 3016 - Who is playing games?  Cool)

Would be interesting to see when the coins for these new masternodes were obtained. Recall that the emission of coins for the launch was quite skewed and these might not be newly purchased coins starting up these nodes.

The buildings look awesome! I'm also really excited to get playing. I was a bit young and we didn't have Ultima. Also a bit dense in general, so I'll unfortunately be a fumbling n00b for a while. Hope I don't mess up my character or properties too bad while working through the learning curve. But yeah, very excited.

Good luck with the madoff nodes, your groupthink and confirmation bias is quite a sight to behold.

*Can't believe you guys are bragging about iphone over android.. real technical crowd here.

From a former Darkcoin supporter, that insanely jumped ship to Spreadcoin like a lunatic (a lame Darkcoin masternode clone that promised the world with PoS Maternode scheme and failed miserably) ... and now come back in the opposite field trashing Dash...

...  well ... Thats the thing with history. Once recorded it can't really be changed.  Tongue

Never owned a single spread coin in my life. Jumped ship when i realized who the director of the darkcoin foundation was, and when vertoe blew the whistle. Sold at that nice peak after the new garbage name was shoved down everyones throat.

I think anyone defending spreadcoin should first clarify whether or not they have invested in it  Roll Eyes... It seems like something I would like, I've checked it out multiple times with an open mind, and it has always put a bad taste in my mouth. Its pretty disheartening to see the names that are so familiar in this thread over there. I have no love for it.

To all our Monero troll-fans.

May serious development be with you... always.

Oh, so you are the only coin with a mobile wallet?

This is your *coin formerly known as drk* thread but if you wish to continue the monero conversation I think you might regret it...

maybe XMR trolls should stop posting here as well?Huh ....

Amen, i guess they are bored in their own forum. Also some people seem to be in the dark about our name-change.....

I guess you guys missed the part where you brought up the subject???

All i miss is the peace and calm we had when all those monero trolls were on vacation. Vacation is over appearently.

I'm sorry that competition makes you so uncomfortable, but perhaps that says more about your own insecurities about *the coin formerly known as drk* than anything else. If incorrect information about someone else's product is stated, expect it to be corrected.

I've seen reports form under an hour (syncing from scratch) from guys with a decent internet connection and a decent computer.

I'd rather wait for my coins to be anonymized than wait for the Monero blockchain to sync, because I could write the book you mentioned in that time. Twice.

Not only twice, but you could finish it as a trilogy, provide an extensive appendix and do a 4th part unexpected sequel due to popular demand  Grin

So, since this is the *coin formerly known as drk* thread, dnaleor's comment was on topic. But since you bring up monero sync time, i feel it is fair to point out that your information is MASSIVELY out of date. A while back they started using the lmdb database, and about a month ago there was an enormous merge to the main branch on github that includes absolutely staggering optimizations to how it uses the lmdb database. They haven't released official binaries including it yet, but if you compile from the main branch yourself, the client synchs from scratch in a matter of a few hours, assuming you a have a fast internet connection and a decent cpu. This is not a joke or an exaggeration, from scratch to in-synch in a matter of just a few hours.... maybe you should give it a spin... or not ... but your info is very wrong.
