21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ➠ LSDCOIN ➠ [LSD] AIRDROP OPEN ➠ X11 ➠ NINJA on: November 02, 2016, 06:34:14 PM
Premine = 265 980 000
Total Airdrop =  100 000 (approx 0.04% of the premine)

 Grin Grin Grin

He still needs some coin to Airdrop on Yobit and runaway with BTC...

If he's only giving each of the 100 airdrop participants 0.000376% of the premine that leaves him with 99.9624% of all the available coins at launch. However, yobit's started charging more to add a coin, and the dev might find dumping the whole premine there doesn't even cover those fees. I doubt many speculators will want to buy a coin with a dev in control of 99.9624% of the supply.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: Lose all your capital fast, with MatTheCat and his TA 101A! on: October 20, 2016, 10:44:56 PM
Last Mat prediction was Bitcoin going to 0 when it was $580 and it went to $640 instead.  We need a new MatTheCat reverse indicator.

The MatDerKater account guy claims he's MatTheCat and that his old account was hacked, but he's refusing to sign a message to prove it. He says Bitcoin will eventually go above $1500. If he really is MatTheCat that's a terrible reverse indicator for Bitcoin's price. We better hope he's an impostor.

fwiw, I think that Bitcoin is set to make it's way up above $1500 eventually........
23  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-10-04] North Carolina Takes First Steps to Regulate Bitcoin on: October 04, 2016, 06:27:58 PM
Poloniex is suspending accounts of all New Hampshire residents because of regulatory changes, but I can't find any mention of North Carolina residents. Maybe it's found a way to work with the new Money Transmitter Act of North Carolina, or maybe it will suspend accounts of all North Carolina residents soon.

Quote
Services to New Hampshire residents to be temporarily suspended on October 6, 2016

Due to changes in New Hampshire's regulatory statute as it applies to cryptocurrency, Poloniex will temporarily suspend New Hampshire account creation until further notice. For existing New Hampshire customers, you will receive an email with instructions on how to suspend your account.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can bitcoin quantity go down? on: October 04, 2016, 06:12:07 PM
Very strange, I have only ever used Bleutrade for altcoins and had no idea this happens to bitcoin, usually it is simply the value of the coins that change, I suppose in a way it could be good if the value goes up but I wouldn't hang around to find out.

Safest thing is to remove your coins and put them onto another exchange as this sounds shady.

Depending on what you intend to do with your coins you have a good choice of exchanges, the Coinmarketcap link that was sent before will help you, if you click into bitcoin and then markets it will list the exchanges for you.

Bittrex and Poloniex are good choices if you wish to trade your bitcoin for other coins.

That's good advice. At the slightest sign of trouble move your coins to your own wallets, or another exchange. If any exchange starts showing bugs in your balances it's no longer worth trusting it with your coins. Any bugs are red flags because hackers exploit them, and half the exchanges that ever existed were hacked.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Baidu Stops All Bitcoin-Related Advertising on: August 25, 2016, 07:38:58 PM
Cointelegraph says Baidu invested in Circle two months ago, and stopping Bitcoin related advertising will harm that investment. Baidu might start a new Bitcoin advertising system that gives it more control over who can advertise, what they can advertise, and how much Baidu gets paid for adverts.

Quote
the announcement of Baidu is quite ironic considering the fact that the internet giant invested in Circle, a Bitcoin-based money-sending application just two months ago.
26  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CRYPTSY stopping withdraw locking accounts without notifying users! Class Action on: August 25, 2016, 07:26:18 PM

That says the judge ensured all Cryptsy account holders are covered by the class action. I assume that means it includes account holders outside the USA. Does that make it possible for account holders outside the USA to get money back from what the receiver has?

I'm not knowledgeable about USA law, but I thought only USA residents could join a USA class action.

Quote
According to the order, the certification covers all Cryptsy account holders as of 1st November, 2015. Specifically, it includes anyone "who held bitcoins, alternative cryptocurrencies or any other form of monies or currency" prior to that date on the exchange.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH by July 2017 on: August 10, 2016, 10:33:04 AM
ATH was $1,100 way back Nov of 2013. We need to see more projects that will require people to buy Bitcoin so that price of Bitcoin will increase to an ATH. What I noticed is Bitcoins is used by the same group of people and if there are new comers, they earn and convert to Fiat, we need someone who will use it, keep it, trade with it.

nah, we don't need things that get hyped up in order to get the price to increase. hypes never last long in the world of bitcoin. it means that the price will go down again, ans thus all efforts to make the price go up will go to waste. i am more interested in genuine demand coming from people actually using and buying bitcoin as you also mentioned.

Things that get hyped up so badly that there were two ATH's in 2013. That's why the bear market afterwards lasted so long. If things get hyped up that badly again we might see another two ATH's in one year but years of bear market afterwards. I'm happy if we get one ATH in 2017 due to reduced supply from the halving. I think it will happen in 2017 without any need for hype.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and space colony on: August 10, 2016, 10:25:54 AM
Human beings are already in its preparation stage to launch the trained astronauts to be sent to mars. This is a preparation for the purpose of making human colonies at Mars. On the other hand some corporations are targeting to mine some rare metals on asteroids.

Bitcoin as a virtual currency can be sent anywhere in the form of waves and frequencies passing through towers, cables or even in air. Bitcoin can be sent to space and it is possible. Maybe in the future when space colony will be established bitcoin is the potential legal tender.

Is it possible? What do you think?
While sending bitcoins from other planets may be fun and all, it has a big risk of forking. Signals can take up to 42 minutes to go back and forth between Earth and Mars. Let's assume we have an advanced colony on Mars with miners. The blockchains on the two planets would fork since blocks on Mars and blocks on Earth would be created at the usual 10 minutes, but propagation delays would prevent blocks from Mars from being added to the chain on Earth, and vice versa.

So I don't think Bitcoin would be fit for interplanetary use unless it has an unholy block time that's proportional to the propagation delay (i.e. We would need longer block times if we were to include Jupiter). Other electronic solutions would also suffer from the same issue (e.g. Paypal's database would not be synced fast enough between the two planets, or transactions would be painfully slow). I think the best fit would be actual fiat or gold.

Take note that I'm not imagining any sci-fi stuff. All of these problems would be solved if physics allowed us to use maybe spooky action to get instantaneous communication between planets (e.g. Spooky routers that would instantly transmit data back and forth between Earth and Mars).

You are assuming radio waves. While your concern is still valid, encoding on light waves would put it between 3 and 21 minutes, depending on distance of planets

There are already projects that are attempting to transmit over great distances using lasers. The problem is the further the target, the harder it is to hit it. Shooting a laser beam from mars to a target on or above the earth is probably impossible with today's technology, but might be possible with tomorrow's. It would allow Bitcoin transactions to be broadcast without forks.
29  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 21, 2016, 02:15:01 PM
I'm liking the amount of FUD. Hoping for some panic. Just a few days is all I need.

Since we've had a normal summer lull I'm guessing finex longs will crash sometime August. Just put in your low bids and reap the rewards.

I know there's a traders saying that the price of everything will crash during the summer and start rising again in autumn. Sadly it doesn't always work out like that though. July was the summer low point in 2013 after the April high of $230. The price gradually rose after the July low until October. In the following November there was the ATH.

Sell in May and go away doesn't always work.

This year you could have sold at $450 in May, then watched the price go to $800.
30  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 08, 2016, 04:12:10 PM
So UK courts allowing hearing of legal blocking attempt of Brexit, and S&P 500 rallies to a new ATH in the midst of the worst global recession in history?

Yeah, the global market crash, the BIG ONE, is getting closer.

Eliminate your outstanding debts and buy more bitcoin.

Some German and Italian banks going bankrupt because of market Brexit panic could start the BIG ONE. Once bail ins start it will be too late to buy more Bitcoin because buying a whole one will be too expensive for most.

"At the current moment, dozens of banks (mostly in Ukraine and Russia) have been compromised, from which has been stolen hundreds of millions of dollars," said ISACA, the English-language Kyiv Post reports.

 Cool

These SWIFT hacks seem to be increasing in frequency or they are being reported more ... either way it's just another symptom of the unreliability of the cobbled together legacy fiat system, it neither secures issuance or transfer and is simply antiquated and wholly unsuitable for the modern era.

The previous one was because of a bank using a $10 router with more holes in it than Swiss cheese to secure its network. Bitcoin only has one Gox worth hundreds of millions of dollars, the banks are getting a new one every few months.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China to make Bitcoin (virtual properties) a civil right. on: June 29, 2016, 10:25:24 AM
I think that, given most of the daily BTC transaction volume happens in China, they consider Bitcoin as something over which they have a sort of "ownership". Bitcoin is a global currency/store of value and IMO through it they think they can play an even more important role in the future international economy, so they have to make it bigger and bigger.

The Chinese government has to use two currencies, one for mainland China, and the other for trades abroad. Making Bitcoin bigger could save them from the need for that complex system. They could allow trades through Bitcoin for trading abroad.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is halving. Is it really profitable ? on: June 09, 2016, 08:41:11 PM
The last halving was on 2012-11-28

Look at Bitcoin price charts to see what happened to the price after the last halving. The price went up and it will probably go up after the next halving. It's not guaranteed to, but it's highly likely the price will go up.
34  Economy / Speculation / Re: There is an epic shakeout coming this year before the giga-spike. on: May 18, 2016, 11:00:35 AM
Sorry, no huge shakeouts and no epic spikes, expect a $400-600 trading range thru the end of 2016.

Barring black swan events I think that's the way it will play out. The price should go up towards the end of the year, but not fast. I don't expect epic dumps or spikes this year, possibly next year after the reduced supply starts to bite.
35  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Donald Trump LOVES bitcoin full transparent encryption ! on: February 17, 2016, 10:28:02 PM
...

RodeoX

If the FBI (NSA, etc.) does indeed want a General Backdoor (that would allow them to remotely unlock any iPhone at will for example), well then of course I would be strongly against that.  They have no business having such access just so they can go on fishing expeditions...  Or harass any opponents, real or imagined.

Also, if Apple gives ANYONE a key to the Backdoor, then they would give it to the Russians and the Chinese as well.  Apple would thereby eliminate some of their market.

*   *   *

I agree that the time comes when ordinary citizens ought consider getting educated in basic encryption (and using it), and the more variation the better.

*   *   *

In the case of Bitcoin, the more people protect themselves, and the more services offering some protection (bitmixer.io for example), the better.

North Korea developed its own operating system that sends details of everything someone does on his computer back to the state, including sending selected files. A General Backdoor in an iPhone is one small step towards the same big brother system that North Korea's using. There are more bad totalitarian reasons for adding a backdoor than good law enforcement ones.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IBM and Microsoft unroll The Hyperledger. on: February 17, 2016, 10:19:03 PM
So it doesn't have any coin or token attached to it like Ripple, how does that work? From what I read it's centralized, so I don't have that much interest, not that it's a bad word or anything.

It it's centralized IBM or Microsoft could stop supporting it if it became uneconomical. They will only keep up development if they are making money from it. If it's like vista then I don't trust it. Just because it's from microsoft doesn't mean it's any good, I'd rather trust in Bitcoin.
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 03, 2016, 12:48:54 PM

Looks like someone flashed a Superdump signal on finex.

What's a Superdump signal? Was it the spike down to 365 lik the spike down to 367 on Bitstamp? There was a spike down about ten hours ago, but it didn't go as deep or have as much volume. Does the magnitude of a spike  determine how big a dump it precedes, or does a succession of spikes precede a dump?
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Europe unfriendlyness is growing on: February 03, 2016, 12:09:55 PM
Well it's just about time they started realizing a 500 euros was only useful to terrorists, drug dealers, and corrupt officials, I say  Roll Eyes.
Think if you guys followed the online poker scene you could make a lot of comparisons to how bitcoin will be squeezed.

Such as... ?
I'm interested in knowing any reason why bitcoin could possibly fail. The more we know about a threat the more we can take appropriate steps to counter it.

it's simple. The EU will begin to check the EU exchangers which MUST have a financial license EVEN NOW and they don't have it. Smiley

Who can afford to take a financial license in EU? It cost over 700K(only the capital must be 350K euro +lawyers, staff, etc...shits).
Also, once a company has a financial license it must apply strict AML, KYC rules, external audits and so on.  Each transaction must be justified. You, as licensed company must show that you identity the source of the funds and so on...otherwise you lose the license and the biz.

More than that, the monthly cost for a such company is huge and the real profit from Bitcoin is low. Don't look over their fake volumes. Smiley

So, the EU officials just have to apply the existing laws and Bitcoin will value almost zero OR the exchangers will have to "move" somewhere in Asia but each country has laws for financial activities...I don't know where they can move so that they can be "free" .

If the exchanges move out of the EU, then the EU could order its bank to refuse to let customers transfer money between themselves and non-EU exchanges. The banks in the EU are already wary of taking payments sent from Bitcoin exchanges. With some pressure from the EU they would stop taking any Bitcoin exchange payments.
39  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 21, 2016, 01:31:01 AM

Hey! Isn't there already a ChinaCoin?!

There was a Hong Kong coin, but it was a total scam. It was mean't to be fairly distributed to all citizens of Hong Kong, but the devs claimed most of the coins themselves through some trick. PBoCcoin wil have no problems like that, its whole premine will go to the Chinese government with no scraps left over for anyone else.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptsy Hacker identity incoming - pending bounty on: January 21, 2016, 12:42:38 AM
Vern is in divorce proceedings in Florida. His address and lawyer's address should be there in the paperwork. Put an outline describing the information you have and as much as you can divulge into a legal envelope and mail it with confirmed delivery. Save the receipt. Also mail yourself a copy which you keep sealed in case you later have to prove the paper trail on sending them the info. Send a copy to Vern's/Cryptsy's lawyers. Inform them that you expect the 1000 BTC reward IF YOUR INFO TURNS OUT TO GET THE COINS BACK. Negotiating for 30 per cent or for upfront payment will be unrealistic. After you get the money back in Cryptsy's wallet you should get the 1000btc. The bounty was publicly posted. If you get the coins returned then they'll have the money to pay 1000 btc reward.
That's my opinion on it anyway. I'm not from Cryptsy so can't personally guarantee anything.
PAUL EDWARD VERNON 9721 SADDLEBROOK DRIVE - BOCA RATON, FLORIDA 33496

There is a thread full of posts by people tracking Big Vern's old houses, and his latest one. I don't know how accurate this post is, but it gives a different address to the one you supplied. Your address might be more up to date than the one below, but a look through that thread would probably find the latest address.

so basically you posted a link to a house that paul Vernon bought in 2004 and is for sale now.  thats an awesome smoking gun.
There is no lien, never was and guaranteed there wont ever be.
He has not been foreclosed on and was never in foreclosure.  (pre foreclosure is just a bullshit term).

Seems like ...monsters are due on maple st...or as its termed here fud

Would this tidbit interest you? Looks like Paul Vernon and Lorie Nettles are now settled in an even larger home situated on a lot that was vacate the year prior, of which explains away why he's unloading his previous digs - ALL THANKS TO CRYPTSY: http://www.co.palm-beach.fl.us/papa/Asps/PropertyDetail/PropertyDetail.aspx?parcel=00424629130003540&
