21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 18, 2014, 11:45:34 PM

Found my culprit with the faulty antminer.
Seems one of my slots doesn't report any temperatures when a module is running in it.
This makes the fans go haywire and probably trip a security thing in the antminer it self or the PSU

so running with 1 blade less works fine?

Yup no problems yet.. though missing out on some gigahashes now :/

On a side note found it not to be the slot it was mining in but one of the cards tripping the PSU protection.
It either looks like one of my miners needs more power then the power supply gives or one of the blades is faulty and tripping the surge protection.
I ordered a 1350W platimax enermax power supply to find out if this resolves it using all 10 blades
I have another antminer S2 which is running fine with the 1000W enermax powersupply but I think these 1000W power supply's are cutting it really close to max usage of the power supply and will probably end up frying it in the end.. not something I am looking forwards to.
On other thoughts I hate to spend another 250 euros to replace the power supply.

You say you have two units, have you tried one at a time by itself?
22  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner (1w/GH/s) on: April 18, 2014, 08:27:07 PM
Several people seem to be concluding that their power supplies are "dead" or malfunctioning based on them refusing to turn on for several minutes after turning the S2 off.  FYI, all three of my batch 1 S2's act this way - when you turn one of them off, you have to wait at least 10 minutes (haven't timed it, but it's more than 5 minutes and less than 20 minutes...) before they will agree to turn back on again.  disconnecting power cord, swearing, etc have all proven ineffective.

I don't think this is a malfunction - i think it must be a design "feature" of this particular power supply.  Or perhaps it's the way they are powering off... typically, you would not shut off a server by flipping the switch on it's power supply.  you'd issue a shutdown command in the OS and have it gracefully shut the system down.  I don't think that is possible with the S2 as the ATX motherboard cable is not utilized.  it's really unfortunate that the BBB board was not powered by the ATX motherboard cable - that would have gotten rid of the "paperclip" mod and perhaps made it possible to gracefully power on and off with a soft button the front of the case.

But the way it's designed, when you flip the power supply off while the case is open, i see the system power off then, after about .5 sec, it powers on for just a fraction of a second.  a little blip.

Perhaps this blip is causing two problems - corrupts the SD card, and trips something in the power supply that stops it from powering back on for several minutes.

I'm very interested in hearing if replacing the power supply solves the corrupt SD card issue.  that would be great!

You can flip the 110/220 switch back and forth while unplugged to reset internal relay

I'm tired of it. Go read previous replies. We'll deliver SP30 on spec and on time.

holly super ants! has anyone tried this service, looks like they are all S1 Ants?

mBigas-com

I won an hour of 180GH/s for $1.05 on flea-bay. I know it won't mine anything close to the cost but not a bad solution for folks that want coins and don't have the technical resources or verified access to Bitcoin markets.
25  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: April 18, 2014, 04:41:24 AM
Nope, still half speed

Be sure to do a complete power-down re-start

Only other thing I can think of is power, but i am sure you have tested and ruled that out first right?

2 of my units hash at half speed. What gives?

I had a similar issue but a quick firmware flash and reboot did the trick.

Guys come on, I think we are being a bit unappreciative. This guy could have retired years ago but he hasn't maybe its greed but just maybe he likes it.

He could easily join the bandwagon of others that pre-sell you equipment sitting in their warehouse making them money until they are nice and worthless before shipping.

If you get a dusty one, clean it
If you get an over-clocked one and you don't want it over-clocked, change it back

If you get a faulty or partial dead one he will credit towards another

As far as warranty, ohhh please? These things aren't toasters and this dammmmmmmn sure is not retail mister!

There is no crying in mining so stay focused......

Anybody know roughly how long i should expect to wait for an email reply from bitmain?
Asked for delivery information and a few other details wanting to buy 500 or 1000 U2 miners but no reply for 6days now.

Hehe, welcome to the club.

Bitmain rarely answers.

 Roll Eyes

especially dumb questions about mythical orders...

1000 U2 is not a mythical order, an 1000 of S2 is mythical order.

 Grin

ohhhhhh, sorry, i shame my family, i end myself now Embarrassed

If I was a hacker and got robbed I would ddos their site everyday.

make a post about it so google can search and archive it.

I hope noone bought the 10000 chip set.

this is a clear example people against btc will use against the crypto currency that there are no fraud and chargeback procedures.

stand by working on that.... Smiley

Found two user names: He left "admin" and there is "bitmainmoney" and last "ddrawuser"

The login php is at :
https://www.bitmaintechs.com/wp-login.php

I will offer an alternative view.

Being broke (as you are), you don't have money available to buy bitcoin.  Buying bitcoin is not an option as credit card purchases aren't really possible currently.  However, if you can find an ASIC company willing to take CC (KNC used to but hasn't recently) then you could purchase an ASIC on a 0% credit card and pay it off with mining profits before the 0% expires.

I've done this multiple times and it has paid off so far.

For example... My Batch 1 KNC Jupiter(s) have netted an approximate 500% gain over their original CC purchase (USD) price.

It's true that had I had the liquid assets to buy BTC with the money rather than a miner, I would have been better off due to the exchange rate increase, but this has been better than the alternative (doing nothing).

Excellent point, math don't lie, as much as you want 1 + 1 to equal 3 it never does. I have been buying contracts from this really cool site that seems to be automated. I found it on eBay after winning one of their auctions. It is called mBigas.com although it redirects to mining.mBigas.com for some reason.

May not be profitable now but like you said its better then doing nothing. I have my hands on 4 coins and I am just ridding them out for a while to see how much they go up.

Anyways, they seem to be automated and have a real time queue. I have purchased contracts at 3AM and they started on schedule with no problems. They also send start and stop notifications and actually have customer service, I have emailed several questions to their support email and have gotten less then one hour response time.

Hope that helps,

36  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ASICMiner Block Erupter Cube Network Issues on: February 01, 2014, 03:47:53 PM
It's possible that the network doesn't allow peer-to-peer traffic in the dorms.

Find a compsci friend, buy him/her beer.  Explain what you're trying to do.  Explain that the cube is a static IP.  They may tell you that it's all firewalled, or may have a tip or two.

In theory, you can get around it with two NICs.  Leave your PC connected as-is on NIC#1.  Set the cube network up NIC#2 static LAN.  Configure the proxy to listen for getwork on NIC#2.  Crossover cable may be required.

Cube -> PC/Proxy -> Network

This is what I did, the mining rig server uses wifi for WAN. The NIC connects to(LAN) a switch on the same subnet the cubes are on.

Also if you run one proxy per two cubes and run proxy command with -q switch for quiet, you will get fastest productivity.
