21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, 1155GH, Jan 8th shipping [Sales Open] on: December 26, 2014, 09:43:42 PM
OK, in the interest of keeping this civil, and because I too have had the pleasure of dogies confused accusations (see my banner) - I feel I should chip in with my 2 cents....mainly because I believe dogie has just gone too far this time. Read on.......

I was also contacted by both BitmainWarranty & Yoshi, prior I believe, to them contacting PatMan for the same reason - firmware issues & dogies attitude, which I discussed with them both. As PatMan has stated, both BitmainWarranty & Yoshi were very understanding, and yes, they both apologized to me also for dogies comments. I don't want to go into detail about what was agreed, I will leave that up to BitmainWarranty & Yoshi to do so if they feel obliged to. I also contacted PatMan after my discussion with them, urging him to divulge his grievances, which I understand he did & was happy with the outcome - as was I. Everything I said above can be confirmed by both BitmainWarranty & Yoshi if there are any doubters out there.

So now I log on & what do I see? Yet another baseless insult from dogie on the Bitmain thread. I feel that everything we discussed has just been abandoned, how can this possibly be of any help to Bitmain? What possible good can become of it? I actually feel sorry for Bitmain right now, they are trying their hardest to to restore customers faith - while dogie continues hurling insults & accusations on their very own thread(s).

If dogie thinks it's OK & "on topic" to insult people on Bitmain threads, but considers it "off topic" for his accused to counter his remarks & ask for an apology - then there is something definitely wrong here. Don't you think?

Thank you.

This is a CLASSIC example of why dogie was not a good move for Bitmain.. Your post is 100% off topic and ANY moderator in his right mind would delete this back and forth off topic crap and give all three of you a temp ban … I get so sick of trying to go over updates in threads I have tagged only to see its a pitch and moan post that has ZERO to do with the S5 … I have had issues with bitmain in the past and it has always got resolved … I have ordered S1's, S2's, S4's, and S5's from Bitmain, EVERY SINGLE ONE of the units hit the advertised hash rate one way or the other . Did I have to wait for a few firmware updates ? Yes .. was it an unreasonably long wait, No .. Im here to look for new info on the S5 and not listen to a back and forth between three children .. I have serious S5 questions, Im a home miner and currently run 4 S4's on 4 20 amp circuits … Just here to find out how I can best squeeze in a few S5's to the mix until better rack mount units come out . IYFTech and pat, I like you both and do find value in your on topic posts.. I think you are a value add to the community … If you want to win this fight, let dogie hang himself.. He's given himself plenty of rope .  Stop with the back and forth between him . Lets wait for the S5 and see how this plays out …
22  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, Shipping on Jan 4th [Sales Open] on: December 25, 2014, 02:53:59 AM
How do the S5 customers feel regarding the fact that BITMAIN is testing tons of miners on the live network right before shipping? I see a sharp rise in the difficulty right after the S5 announcement.
And what are we going to do about it?
And who here wouldn't if they owned a mining equipment manufacturing company?

I wouldn't mind so much if they went back to free shipping and used mining profits to offset that cost.
23  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcment: Brand-new miner EMIC PowerModule - 5.65 TH/s on: December 24, 2014, 07:17:15 PM
Total scam 6 Th's at 1500w no way.. Not at this stage of the game. Maybe in another 8 months but at that time there will be real hardware on the market shipping from stock.. I'll wait.

This crap is what gives BTC a bad name.

Online wallets are bad any way you spin it..
25  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: a 10% drop in hashes? on: December 24, 2014, 07:03:13 PM
We are getting to the point where profit returns are not going to bring in investor farms. Overhead is going to absorb more of your profit margin. If the price of BTC continues to go down I suspect we will see even a bigger drop.
26  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S6 speculation on: December 24, 2014, 06:59:35 PM
Rack mount would be nice.. And it would have been really cool if the blades would have been able to fit in the s4
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Cancelled] AntMiner L1 for sales $5/MH/s ships in December on: December 23, 2014, 07:51:12 PM
Bitmain did the honourable thing.

I disagree … The honorable thing would have been to not even go down the path of pre orders … The problem that pre orders create is the the problem of market speculation, speculation is something that any coin can not afford right now . The market has been severely manipulated over the past few months and a good part of that has been the result of speculation on products that were 100% vaporware at the time.
28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, Shipping on December 27th on: December 22, 2014, 03:45:20 PM
Bitmain, will you PLEASE start making the boards interchangeable with rack mount units … How fricken hard is it to engineer a board that can fit into a S4 or S2 for that matter … These units with the external power supply do not scale for home mining in any way … I think your engineers need to go to the woodshed , great work on power consumption but PLEASE think about helping the people who use real racks . Im not asking for a new unit, I would just like to swap out boards .
29  Economy / Economics / Re: why do people agree to pay taxes? on: December 16, 2014, 08:25:27 PM
why is it ok for a group of people calling themselves the government to force everyone to buy their services?
if enough armed people refused to pay and told the government to go fuck itself there is nothing they could do.

simple, the goverment like wolves pick off the sheep that are not running with an organized group .. They attack one at a time without desecration on who they target . Once they have demolished that person they hold him up as a spectacle for the rest of the group to see… It's called ruling by fear … We may not be a North Korea but most governments that claim to be civil are just a LOT better at how they carry their big stick of fear … If you look very closely you can see the level high of phycological warfare they have used to get what they want .. The US use to be the wild west, and the political folks stood up on stumps and preached "look at the lawlessness, we can help you" .. And over time, the wild west fell to the hand of politics… Our forefathers picked our evil . Man Vs. Man lawlessness, or Man Vs. The Political System … The Political system won out .. It is what it is, and we do our best to work within the confines of that system .
30  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Best Undervolt/Underclock for S4 on: December 15, 2014, 03:55:21 PM
I'm interested in the best settings to under volt these as well. My first question is should this be broken down into two setting types one for 110 users like me and others she went the 220 route ? Would that make a difference in settings and strain on PSU … I'm getting close to ROI on my 4 and I want to downshift and make room for the mythical S5 possibly .

32  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 12, 2014, 03:46:49 PM
Hey guys can anyone post the CE certificate for  s4. Thanks

Where are you seeing a CE mark?
I have S4 and there is not CE mark anywhere. It might be inside but am not going to open the case. I only see QC1 passed and QC 2 passed stickers.

Speaking of unicorns, I heard that S5 is going to hash 6 Th/s and only uses 950 watts. Also, with innovation in cooling system, noise level is less than 65 decibel.  Grin

I'll believe it when I see it … Would be nice if it was a rack mount unit as well .. Any S5 news would be welcome to my ears at this point …
33  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Black Friday Deals 0.409USD/GH/s, FREE International Shipping on: December 10, 2014, 03:02:02 AM
Just a note,

I under clocked  S4, running 0650 and 125 pulling 690 at the wall hashing 1195 avg .  All is well, Sound much lower.  Of course the C1 is much quieter than either the S3 or the S4.

Also I am having trouble with the Ethernet connection on the S4, sometimes when I reboot it comes up with 127.0.0.1.  But is showing not lights on the connector.  A wiggle or two will get it going along with a reboot..  If I bump the cable while it is running it will start beeping and quit mining.  Again wiggle it.  I have not had time to look into it further, but that is a problem going forward

Barbara

Help me understand why you would under clock the S4 this soon. By not at least hitting the 2THs you're making it extremely hard to ever make ROI. I was also thinking about under clocking my 4 units but I think I still need 2 to three more months to get to my break even, at that point I will down shift.

Am I missing something ?

Any new info on the mythical S5 yet ?

No black friday deals, bitmain?

spondoolies is offering some amazing cyber monday deals. Naturally all before new tech is announced shortly.

Those amazing deals aren't that much better - if at all - than an S4 with a coupon. Am I missing something here?

I've been running some numbers, one thing I see is that the SP-20 vs. the S4 is an under volt advantage that gains you money at the wall in favor of SP.. I may be wrong, but if they come out with new tech ANY batchs of the S4 won't even come close to ROI.. I bought some of the FIRST S4s to ship, and they are no where close to ROI . Even with the coupon, I can't pull the trigger when my first several S4's are so far under water. It takes me almost 15 days of mining to cover electricity cost alone. Anything after 15 days goes to the under water s4's .. This late in the game on the 28nm tech I can't find a reason to grab more. Anyone else have thoughts on how to make the s4 more profitable ?

What new tech are you speaking of ? Are you trying to pump interest into sub 28nm tech ? or are you talking about repackaged 28nm chips ? I would like to see REAL proof that something sub 28nm is even at the foundry yet . I'm going to warn people about jumping on pre-order pumping anything sub 28nm .. If you look at the track record of pre order stuff it NEVER ends well … Even when it does make it to market it is often so late that you will never dig yourself out of the hole for putting up SOOOOO much money upfront for late delivers in hopes to get a jump on the difficulty increase …  Because most chip producers are now heavily invested in their own cloud solutions by the time you get your product you will be getting the table scraps of any possible profit from the new tech … I'm all for mining but VERY anti cloud, and anti pre orders .

100% agree with NOT pre-ordering anything!

The announcements for the new tech have been leaked by competitors (trustworthy) for the past couple of months. The tape-outs for first batch started this month. Assembly etc, next month into Jan. Announcements will therefore follow shortly. However, I will say, the SP20's ability to be turned down to 0.6J/GH at the wall, down to as low as 0.5 for some with no physical modifications make it a longer lasting product at this stage that we find ourselves as at with the current tech. Personally I believe bitmain made mistakes with developing the U3 and the C1. Waste of time and resources.

" The announcements for the new tech have been leaked by competitors (trustworthy) for the past couple of months. "

leaked is marketing for pre-orders … they need the pre order money to pay the foundry .. I don't thing we will see the new stuff for a while, even if it were on the near horizon don't you think we would see news for pre orders ? last round of pre orders to the new 28 nm chips was almost 6 months ahead of any release … and even then it was late … the math don't add up.

I'm assuming there is no issue with stacking S4s? Or would running them vertical (PSU intake side up) be preferable?

I stack mine in a rack with no issue .

The temps on these S4's run a bit warmer than S3's.  My S3's temps per card range from 36 to 40.  The temps on each card in this S4 are as follows:  44, 43, 47, 46.  I wonder if someday replacing the existing fans with other faster fans would help?

A question from the Newbie for those of you with experience:  What temps do I want to try to avoid reaching in this S4, especially on a consistent basis?

No temperature is even close to 'we actually care' levels. <55C is fine.

WOW, these rigs can maintain operation with a lot of heat.

I was thinking about the longevity of equipment and the affected hash rate of the equipment.  I should have been more specific.  I've seen pics on youtube of rigs laying in a pile on the ground at large farms in China that I assumed had went out of service.  The building they were in appeared to be poorly cooled with large doors open to the outside.  So, I assumed the rigs would burn out much sooner than normal with the temperature too high for long periods of time.

Curious if anyone has had enough experience with S1 rigs since they came out to know if the temp mattered that much.  It used to be that S1's were the rig to have.  It may be that not enough time has elapsed to even know the answer to my speculation regarding the S1 even.  Don't know...

Thank you for your input!

Anyone else want to ring in?

"longevity of equipment and the affected hash rate of the equipment."

In 8 to 9 months there is a good chance your equipment will be cash-flow negative due to difficulty and cost of electricity … The life cycle of mining is VERY short ...
