21  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are we entering a new dark ages? on: September 11, 2018, 09:01:57 AM
This is part of creative destruction. Technology will hopefully bring all of us back together in a new fruitful world, which is more balanced and fair to every organism, with less greed and corruption.
22  Other / Politics & Society / Re: shouldn't we plant billions of trees now? because on: September 11, 2018, 08:17:17 AM
There are projects doing it; BioCarbon Engineering (BCE) e.g. are planting trees with the help of drones since tree Tongue years or so. We have to carefully assess the predominant ecosystem, but I don't think we would have to worry to much about it (we never did), since there are many places to go without disturbing a system. Projects like Ecosia showed that also in deserty areas, reforestation and creating new ecosystems is possible.
23  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Blockchain Records Will now be Accepted as Legal Evidence, China’s Supreme Court on: September 11, 2018, 07:36:33 AM
Governments, regulators, lawmakers and other administrative institutions have to work hand in hand with new tech companies and adapt quicker. Speed is key, changes can not go through many different stages with years of delay. Blockchain applied in governmental processes will hopefully help on this development. Otherwise, there will be loopholes, scams, chaos to use for invidious behavior. Just look at how many ICO's are scams, how many ICO's sell a security token praised as a utility token; how many of you are going to specify crypto assets in your taxes?
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT HAPPEN TO ETH??? touches below 300 USD!!! on: September 10, 2018, 02:39:00 PM
You just never now, there will always be people and experts predicting a massive increase, others say the value will go down further. There can always be event like the SEC which suspended Bitcoin Tracker One and Ether Tracker One for 10 days, two securities which are tight to cryptos. You cant predict the future of regulations, markets, new technologies and so on. The opinion is that Ethereum is a special case since many ICOs raised money in form of Ether and try to sell it with the effect of drag down the price even further. Although I think now is a good time to buy it, still you can't predict whats gonna happen!
25  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fuck politics it's a scam on: September 10, 2018, 01:01:05 PM
"Fuck you politicians"

Why do you use the F*** word. I want to use that word with things that give me enjoyment. Don't you?

You're as batty as all those politicians that you want to f***.

Cool
Why do you use the F*** word. I want to use that word with things that give me enjoyment. Grin  Wink Cheesy
OK so why don't you go and fuck Jesus and suck his penis  Cheesy  << You said something you enjoy     And I used the word fuck in your enjoyment ..

Don't get upset I am only joking Cheesy..
But on a serious note what is the point in voting if you win you don't get what you voted for ..

be careful not to have a nervous breakdown. As for politicians, well they are a small group of people who only defend their own interests, they are not to improve people's lives, they are to ensure that their interests are safe. It has always been like this and will always be like this.

They don't defend their own interest, usually they are puppets and defend interests of the ones bringing them the biggest reward (ok they are defending their interest, but in its most basic form).
26  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Crypto in Africa on: September 10, 2018, 12:42:28 PM
In terms of Cryptos you are probably right. what they would need is access to a stable currency and not to hundreds of cryptos. And they will probably participate as users only in a certain network since they lack infrastructure to place at the disposal of this network to keep it running. In terms of blockchain, it will be the first world implementing solutions wherever there is loads of data and transactions such as insurances, healthcare, administration and so on.
27  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ukraine Election Body Trials Voting on an NEM Blockchain on: September 10, 2018, 12:16:46 PM
I think this is one of the most important application of blockchain technology. Corruption and political incorrect and decisive behavior is EVERYWHERE. Transparent processes and immutable votes are the base for a fair system. Also costs can be reduced to a large extent since voting systems are mostly an administrative pile of work. Deeper knowledge about what group (gender, age, political orientation etc.) voted for what outcome could also be analyzed to a greater extent.

Of course there was a hype and everyone tried to quickly make some easy money, and right, a lot of ICOs have no visions, products and so on. But this is due to the fact that everyone wanted to launch an ico and constructed an idea in the framework. Now is the time for startups with real ideas and products, where a token offering is the most suitable solution compared to classic venture capital. And yes, this is gambling, but funding startups is always gambling.

Funding startups are not purely gambling since if you do talk about legit startups with no hidden agendas. Startups has a pure vision so it is clear to someone who will be investing to that certain project of  what he/she should have to expect.
[/quote]

Still there is evidence that almost 9 out of 10 startups fail on the long run. Of course, within the blockchain area there are more startups with hidden agendas. You have to do the research and also have quite a bit of luck to get a nice profit, investing in ICOs or in classic VC.
29  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Earth’s Greatest Threats on: September 09, 2018, 02:51:43 PM
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria. We hear about it but I feel that for the most part, we tend to think that it's a problem that somebody else will tend to and figure out.
Totally agreeing. So called "super-germs" are on the rise and the most immediate threat to us. There are more and more infections which can be treated only with some hard antibiotics but standard antibiotics do not work anymore. Bacteria getting more aggressive and resistant to new antibiotics quicker than before. Certainly, this development is only partially due to wrong medical application.

It is mostly because of the antibiotics used in agriculture, especially in chicken, turkey and pork "mass-cultures". We consume antibiotics with the meat we eat an let allowing resistant bacteria to thrive on the one hand. On the other hand, the animals themselves produce multi-resistant bacteria which are easily transferred to humans if we do not handle the meat correctly.

But as many other mentioned, this also comes with our greed and exploitation of the resources of this planet. We wouldn't have that problem (to this extent), if the food production was free range and organic, rather than mass production, where animals need antibiotics so they don't get sick.

Please do not take it the wrong way, but investing your time and resources into a bounty program is nothing different than investing financially in a project / ICO. As many lost "something" to scams or shitty projects within a bounty program, a lot of other lost money too. So it's all about evaluating a project and a team no matter how you invest in a possible "future reward".

I don't want to go off-topic here, but I am the only one who laughs every time I see someone talking about "investing" in an ICO? Almost all ICOs have no product, no company, no finances, no accounts and no vision. If this is your definition of investing, you might as well "invest" in a 5-year-old's lemonade stand. You aren't investing, you are gambling.

Of course there was a hype and everyone tried to quickly make some easy money, and right, a lot of ICOs have no visions, products and so on. 32  Economy / Economics / Re: 44 % of startups/ICO still active 120 days following the end of their fundraise on: September 07, 2018, 04:05:51 PM
I thinks it's a great opportunity for serious businesses with real projects. The hype might be over, but there are still a lot of investors in the space looking for real and promising projects, which can be a chance to build a successful business on the long term, when u take it serious. It's not about launching an ICO and just try to make some money with sort of an idea. If you want to be successful as an ICO, you need to have a good promise, product, service and launching a token must fit with your business. One way or another, IPO's, venture capital and other fundraising methods will be digitalized sooner or later and i think tokenizing shares or securities are not bad at all.
33  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The long term impact of cryptocurrencies and blockchain on Society on: September 07, 2018, 03:46:31 PM
One thing I would not hesitate to say is that crypto or blockchain is the reason we are on this page. It has created a community of like minds. However, like every other thing as someone already commented, it has the negative and the positive side. As long as it involved technology, not everyone will know how to use it or accept it. The good thing first is that it has created an industry for itself and provided endless jobs opportunities for many. with it discoveries and solutions are gaining grounds every day. smart contract has come to serves us money spent on third parties and also help executes agreement terms without taking side or playing favouritism. It is just good that it cannot be overemphasized.

I think it is for us to design and implement solutions which are more customer friendly than e.g. crypto wallets. Where Blockchain is used, it will will probably run in the background for most of the cases. Either tech freaks or tech averse people should both be able to use new technologies, therefore, blockchain need to be integrated step by step, in a user-friendly manner and should simplify process not making them more difficult.

I think a bigger challenge is the possible amount of job losses due to automatization, the digital identity (securing / controlling your own data) and IT security in general, if we depend so much on tech.
34  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Electric cars are the future, but not with batteries. on: September 07, 2018, 12:53:54 PM
I think it is sad that there is such an obsession with electric cars at the moment. They are more environmentally damaging than modern diesel vehicles, especially now that horizontally opposed two stroke diesels are being developed. They are a wasteful use of lithium, and there isn't enough for all the cars anyway. All they do is to export pollution out of the cities. It is even worse when they cut down trees to burn to generate the electricity.

A much better solution is the use of fuel cells. You can extract the hydrogen from sea water, and generate the electricity directly to drive the motors in the cars. Refuelling only takes a few minutes, as opposed to the hour or so that it can take to recharge the batteries in the current cars.

Hydrogen is made industrially from natural gas.

Fuel cells are expensive.

Hydrogen production with electrolysis is way to expensive for now. But imagine we would have something like (almost) "free energy", it would be a great option since the process is pretty much completely green.
35  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Non-Religious is now the largest religious group in America! on: September 06, 2018, 01:23:46 PM
It is nice to see this development. I don't speak against religion itself, but there will always be people interpreting and living too much after a book, which is written a long time ago. Religion is probably the number one reason for war besides fights about resources and territories. If it brings you peace and helps you through the day, really nice. But if you try to get someone else involved, then you think your religion is superior, you are already one step over the line!
36  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can blockchain technology be used to prevent nucler war? on: September 06, 2018, 08:21:30 AM
Many other implementations of the blockchain will come before this scenario. If there would be a contract like this, why even have a nuclear arsenal? This again is so stupid and hypocrite if not to say next level treating symptoms, not the problem. I hope denuclearization will take place when reasonable people are back on top or when governmental but also intergovernmental processes operate via blockchain, where the community is the government.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain and Cryptocurrency in Healthcare on: September 01, 2018, 03:51:48 PM
The benefit of the blockchain in healthcare is imo mostly a more efficient and accurate exchange of data. Cost reductions result because of an automated exchange of information between hospitals and doctors, the patients infos stored in the chain. The costs of the data exchange in terms of reporting and billing with health-insurances can be reduced enormously. Also the drug-supply-chain could be optimized and fully automated.

Furthermore, accurate, but anonyme infos about patients could be used for better predictions of illnesses (since there is the possibility of a huge data set) and therefore better treatments.

Not sure if thinking the biggest benefit of blockchain in healthcare is that you can pay with cryptos is negatively related with understanding blockchain.

38  Other / Off-topic / Re: Worst things in your country? on: September 01, 2018, 03:24:43 PM
i think corruption or at least politicians which do not advocate for its citizens is a worldwide problem. Administrative and political systems over blockchain can bring transparency and therefore justice to this matter.

The worst things though, we probably don't even know that they exist...
39  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Italians and their Bridges another good reason to drop the Euro on: August 30, 2018, 04:19:45 PM
The bridge incident is very metaphorical. Italy is literally falling apart. Pretty much third-world country status in some parts and Europe has to pay for the rest of their mistakes. Europe can never advance unless it drops the euro..

The real problem is they adopted a common fiscal policy despite their different levels of economic strength. Can you imagine ASEAN doing the same thing? Singapore would probably rather sink down the sea rather than pay for laggards like Cambodia or Laos. And yet that is what the EU did.

Totally agreeing. Different cultures, work-attitudes, administrations, economic development and so on is one factor why the EU could fail, not primarily because of the EURO itself. Furthermore, the arrogant dictation from above is what many of the less benefitting countries annoy.

The EU should become a more loose construct in terms of an economic area, without central authorities making decisions above the country's will.
40  Other / Politics & Society / Re: IS DEMOCRACY THE BEST OPTION FOR GOVERNANCE? on: August 30, 2018, 01:52:13 PM
Clearly, with the existence of so many different interests, generations, cultures, customs, opinions and so on, there can never be one system which is fair for everyone.

I still think democracy is the way to go to face this heterogeneity, maybe applied on a more local level, within a similar cultural setting. Everyone should be able to take part in political decisions. It is the obligation of the leaders and expert to inform and influence us (stupid) correctly.

In this matter, there should also be more independent organizations rating political material and statements. Blockchain will hopefully help designing more transparent and less corrupt frameworks.

Furthermore, we should turn our back on the classic group "party-thinking" and focus more on the substance.
