21  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: July 27, 2019, 04:41:06 PM
Hi I’m thinking of buying an S9 miner.  Now that the s17 pro is coming, is it still worth to buy an s9? thank you.

Depends on your electricity rate, I wouldn't if you pay 8 cents or more and miner has to be under $200.

Was writing a long post but basically I trust Pango from previous sales, 6 cent power is cheapest I can find and any machine being shipped to me from August delivery will end up starting work in September.

Oh and BTC went from 11.2 to 12.1 since I placed order.

Last block found on Solo CK was March 9th. This is public information you can find in BTC.com pools stats.

Difficulty is now around 7.93 Trillion so your best share needs to be that much to solve a block.

Antminer GUI has a "FoundBlocks" window on the summary page that I have no clue how it gets activated but is known to NOT be a block found counter, if you are going by that, write Bitmain so they can explain, or maybe someone here can Illuminate us in what that box actually is?

If by 7th port you mean port 1, diagram on back states 2A for ports D & 1, so depends on the amps you pull on the D port plus newpack @600 Mhz (Yikes!)

Mine pull 0.81A @200

At octomob gave you a merit for pointing it out.

Oooh, can I get one for pointing out they are sold out? Please?

7 Newpacks running fine @ freq. 200, 320-355 GH/s. Using Raspbian, Pi3 B+

Just added the other 3 thanks to outstanding customer service from GekkoScience and minefarmbuy, in the time it took me to figure out the Raspberry Pi they replaced the 3  "faulty" miners!

I had 4 running well @150 for a day and a bit, then went to freq 200 for another day, when the warrantied 3 Newpacks arrived I just added them and started all 7 straight at 200, no issues so far after a day+

Oh, I run 2 USB fans pointed at them and the Heatsink temps run from 36 to 40C; What temp should this run at?

This weekend I add the R-606 to the Rasp and see if I can have my ultimate "BTC Solo/Lotto" self sufficient machine!

Thanks again Sidehack

Also if you are looking for detailed Raspberry Pi instructions I have a set on this page of this thread  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.msg50968875#msg50968875

Worked like a charm on a new Pi3 I got for Father's day, gave merit to mstrozier and my thank you from a very happy "4 Newpack solo lotto" miner.

I thought there was a way to set each one by it's serial number but can't find the post, something like "gekko-newpac-s 10040024-freq 150" or similar.

So, I have been mining on Kano with a T9+ and learning this 5Nd thing for a month now and was not even close to getting to the 10.5TH ramp up; I went ahead and "helped it" with a 2nd T9+ and a Bitfily B1+ (Total of 34TH), now my Shift Graph shows roughly the same as the single miner.

Does this mean at next payout I can expect the "full" share of the single 10.5TH miner?
Is this way of ramping up quickly ok?

Is this the S9-xilinx-201905311059 version?

Great data, now I need to run the numbers and figure out what SSH port it/does and if I need that Wink

Great review Hagss, thank you!

Big issue is that Pango has delivery until October!
Anyone know how to buy direct from microbt? I can't even load their page to see their delivery date.

Once you point your browser there one of the lines will be:

"bestever": 324549776

If it exceeds the current Difficulty (7,409,399,249,090) it means you solved a block.
