21  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: January 21, 2013, 05:36:30 AM
Hi gigavps
Thank you for the reply. What do you think is there a chance that for you to extend the contract for 12 months? Please understand me well I must pay around 4-5 BTC to get my ~20 gigamining bonds. Tomorrow will ask again for a cheaper service but still it's a bit unfair for non US citizens.

Regards
2GOOD

Hi 2GOOD,

While I definitely understand your concern regarding creating legal documents, there is really no other way around this. I am still considering extending the contract, but have not made a decision.

Best,
James

Is it possible for someone else to claim others bonds? For example if 2GOOD trusts me to claim his bonds and I'll write his on my legal document?

Good thought, but my app don't poll unless you click/touch the Refresh button and has a check so that you won't poll more often than every 10s.
Maybe later I will make a live tile for the app that polls every hour or something (depending on user settings etc...).

Right now I'm experimenting on localization so that I can have different languages in the app depending on your settings in Windows 8.

Yeah, that should do it.

Are you planning to open source?

I'm still looking at open source... there are so many licenses to choose from:

The Bitcoin Client use http://opensource.org/licenses/MIT

Hey everyone,

I am happy to say that beta testing of the API system is underway.
If you want to be included in the beta send me a pm and I will add you to the list to get access as we are ready for you.

Right now it is going on a person by person basis going over documentation, functionality, and ease of use.

Nice, I might make a Windows 8 app when the api is released.
25  Economy / Services / Re: Gigamining / Teramining on: January 13, 2013, 06:15:25 PM
Thanks for the replies.
I'm just annoyed that there is so much work/costs required to claim than others such as LTC-MINING where everything was transferred to a new site and login set up etc.

Here are the [wtf] parts that I need some advice with:

Quote
c.  [insert tax identification number of affiant]  For the US this will be either your social security number or the EIN of the entity you are using to receive the 1099-MISC.

g.  [insert jurisdiction of Notary]  I deleted this line and left a blank for the notary to fill in the proper information when I got the form notarized.

4)  Sign and date the form in the presence of a notary.

5)  Make a copy of the appropriate document and mail it with the affidavit.  For real persons: a photocopy or scanned PDF of government issued photo identification, or, for corporations the document number and issuing jurisdiction of the incorporating charter and proof of current good standing.

So I need to hire a solicitor and provide my Tax details (NI number?) and identification to some nobody in the US?

Has anyone claimed who is a resident of the UK and can give me some advice in PM please?

Are UK citizens allowed to scan government issued photo identification card and send it to some hacks in Florida via  e-mail? Do you understand that your e-mail can be intercepted in countless servers it travels through all in plain text?
Did those hacks in Florida sent YOU a notarized, stamped and signed (and translated) letter, stating exactly for what and how your personal information will be used and how they guarantee that your personal data will be protected?

Nothing like that? Rally? Why not?

If you are worried about intercepted e-mail then encrypt it.
26  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY claimed] Help test version 0.8, blockchain upgrade on: January 12, 2013, 12:03:38 AM
I hope you got all the data you needed from the tests.
27  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Making a Bitcoin calculator app for Windows 8 on: January 11, 2013, 05:29:15 AM

You might want to find a way to link to it that to the US English site as well, right now a search on the store in the US does not show the app, but your direct link does work.
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/apps

I'd love to do more, but browsing the store is the limit for me until I get a VM running Win8 or take the leap and switch. I've got a LOT of baggage and work stuff to consider, so it's not an easy matrix to solve.

The easy way to find the app in your language is to delete the sv-SE... and the site will redirect to the right language.

http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/app/bitcoin-calculator/f2bc71be-dd4a-4d82-ae98-32db5864a594

much better Wink

I don't have my grandmother around to translate the Swedish (or force me to eat Lutefisk), so I'll have to stick with English for now.

hehe... i hate Lutfisk =)
Btw, I'm thinking of putting the language file on www.transifex.com if it works with no hassle so that the community can help translate the app to other languages.

I'm still downloading the blockchain... =/ it's very slow now.
30  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY] Help test version 0.8, blockchain upgrade on: January 09, 2013, 10:57:52 PM
Btw, don't 0.3.24 support timestamps in the logfile?

I think you're right, 0.3.24 does not support -logtimestamps. If I recall correctly, it does log the time at startup; for this particular test, I'm mostly interested in how long the upgrade process takes, so the old version not supporting timestamps isn't a problem.

ok, good.
Btw I'm still downloading the blockchain with 8 connections...
31  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY] Help test version 0.8, blockchain upgrade on: January 09, 2013, 09:11:34 PM
Somebody running (or willing to install and sync-up) bitcoind/bitcoin-qt version 0.3.24
(need to test upgrading from a very old version of Bitcoin)

In progress...

Btw, don't 0.3.24 support timestamps in the logfile?
32  Bitcoin / Project Development / [ANNOUNCE] Bitcoin Calculator app for Windows 8 on: January 09, 2013, 07:58:54 PM
Hi folks!

I have been working on a free Windows 8 app (Bitcoin Calculator) for a while now. And today I can announce that it's released on the Windows Store!

Bitcoin Calculator is an app that uses the current Bitcoin difficulty rate and your hash rate with the current currency exchange rate to calculate your profits when mining bitcoins.

Currently the app is translated (all except error messages and appbar) to Swedish language (English (en-US) is the main language) but more languages will make it there if the community wants it and can help me with translations.
If you have any suggestions for the app, reply on this thread or pm me.

I will continue to work on the app with more functions, here is my TODO list:
0.2.x:
  • Add a live tile act more live with updates in the background
  • Bug fix: Translation for the appbar isn't working
0.3.x:
  • Add user options for changing the the value of currency exchange info (Buy, Sell, Last, Average)

   - Known bug: translation for the appbar isn't working

2013-01-30: Version 0.2.0.0
   - Added an appbar with:
      - Clear button to clear Difficulty Factor, Hash Rate and Exchange Rate
      - Update live tile button
      - Clear live tile button
   - Added live tile - currently only in wide tile
   - Added wide tile
   - Updated Swedish translation
   - Fixed a bug that prevented two of the tooltips working
   - Known bug: translation for the appbar isn't working

2013-01-09: Version 0.1.0.0 - Initial release

Old thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=128804 - In here we discussed some things under the development before the initial release of the app.

Edit (2013-04-30): Updated info about version 0.2.1.0

21626 Shares has been released on BitFunder for 0.00449 BTC each Smiley
They are already backed up by S.DICE shares, so if anyone wants to buy in now is a good time.
//DeaDTerra

You should note that under "news" as well on BitFunder for the asset.

Dunno yet! I'm looking at it.

More important, are you planning on having it give correct results?

0.056729178 is the Bitcoins per day I calculate using the screenshot's inputs. The calculator doesn't know about the block reward halving.

Most miners pay a pool fee as a percentage, let them put that in and they will get more accurate results.

If you are using mtgox's exchange rate, you might as well take out mtgox's 0.6% cut too.

The average length of a month is 365.2425/12... your results shows ~365.2088/12 but that might just be rounding errors.

I updated my first post with a new screenshot as the old screenshots where from a time when we mined 50BTC/block =)

Good idéa on the mtgox fee, maybe I'll add that to a later version.

I use 365.25/12 = 30.4375 days as average length of a month as http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator is calculating.
It's calculated this way: (365+365+365+366)/4 = 365.25.
And yes the app rounds the results it shows: 3 decimals on BTC and only 2 for the dollars so you get (0.000 BTC and $0.00), maybe I should use more decimals for the BTC or just make it clear that the app rounds the results?
36  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Making a Bitcoin calculator app for Windows 8 on: January 05, 2013, 08:52:29 PM

Makes sense. Yeah you better follow those API speed limits.

Even better, allow us to change the polling interval between 10s and (say) 3600s with a default of 30 or 60 so that folks with more than one app/web app open at the same time don't overload the limit.
I'm assuming that Mt. Gox is looking at IP, not individual sessions, so having 2-3 apps using this same method at the max frequency would overload the limit.

Just a thought.

Good thought, but my app don't poll unless you click/touch the Refresh button and has a check so that you won't poll more often than every 10s.
Maybe later I will make a live tile for the app that polls every hour or something (depending on user settings etc...).

37  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Making a Bitcoin calculator app for Windows 8 on: January 05, 2013, 07:47:15 PM
I'm parsing the data from https://mtgox.com/api/1/BTCUSD/ticker
I just need to make a delay so that the app can't get data more than one pull every 10 sec or MtGox will be angry =)
Makes sense. Yeah you better follow those API speed limits.

Or just use javascript and get the websocket, then you will get stats in real time

I may try websockets later on.

Btw, The app is on it's way to the Windows Store!

How many out there have been waiting for Quentin to email them back and like me have not sent any information in to him yet?  I have I believe sent him 2 emails with no response... does this mean if I haven't sent in my information because he hasn't corresponded with me yet I will be left out of gigamining payments if and when I do get my info into him?

Naelr

Hi Naelr,

It seems Quentin was having some issues with emails going directly to his spam folder. He has since turned off the spam filter and replies to email once per week.

There is currently no end date to file a claim so please email Quentin again. Once all of your documents are verified, you'll be paid all back payments.

Best,
James

So thats where my e-mail went? =(
I'll send a new one then.

40  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: December 17, 2012, 11:10:56 PM
Back on topic for a moment -

Have we made progress on re-listing ASICMINER on another exchange (now that the list has been received from GLBSE)

I'd like to reiterate my vote for    BTCT.CO   https://btct.co/

Another asset of mine (BAKEWELL) has just been reborn there, and I'm pleased with the results.

I believe we'll actually see the share price of ASICMINER jump once trading has resumed. I know I'll be bidding...

I'd like to see it listed on Bitfunder instead.

I vote for BitFunder https://bitfunder.com/!
