21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: June 10, 2016, 01:05:18 PM
I have the electrum light wallet for Dash. I've only used it once - to receive from exchange and send to a masternode shares service. Today when I opened it for the first time since then it opened an unknown wallet - with no history, but strangely already encrypted (so perhaps not a new wallet?) by a password which definitely wasn't one of mine.

Fortunately I was able to restore my wallet from seed but I am deeply perplexed about what just happened.

Btw I did download it directly from dash.org not from somewhere else.

I am not sure if this is a question or just a statement Smiley

You are asked to set a password at installation time

If you choose to leave the fields empty leaves your wallet unencrypted - which is highly discouraged. It's hard to tell if you set a password and simply forgot about it.

Maybe you've created a second wallet and forget about your default_wallet? How was the wallets name in the top bar?

What is your error message? It should work since ~17 hours ago.

It's "docker pull lisk/mainnet"  Wink
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DASH] Dash - Building the IoM | Dash Nation Progress Thread on: May 01, 2016, 09:18:36 AM
Don't you thinks it's a bit odd to write an article purporting to be about "The Origin of Dash" but "accidentally" forget to mention the "accidental" instamine and subsequent/compounding radical emission cut?

Not at all. As we have repeatedly explained to you, the instamine has been dealt with, and is a non issue for most people. I understand that you and your band of detractors like to beat a dead horse until it is no longer recognizable as a horse, but for the rest of us, we're moving on. Progress. That's what Dash is about. The offer to join us still stands.

Bitcoinist should be teaching the controversy, not failing to report the damning devils in the details.

[..]

Bitconist readers deserve better than one-sided puff pieces from writers that can't be bothered to ask tough questions about real issues.

I'd recommed you start your own news site and try to do better, teaching controversy and asking tough questions about real issues - it would be a win-win situation.

Whether or not it will have any short term effect, I still urge all members of the Dashcoin community to contact btc-e and request that they stop creating confusion by using Dashcoin's DSH ticker to identify another coin.

This is exactly what i have proposed to a Dashcoin community member, but it got rejected:

congratulations for your coin being added to BTC-e

[...]

DSH is Dashcoin's ticker symbol

Thanks for the heads up, we did not notice this yet. Must be a typo. Could you please report it to BTC-e support?

I am afraid, that their system is only capable for 3 char tickers. Like it was the case with bitfinex in the past.

why me?? it is your coin written in another coin's (Dashcoin's original since July 2014) ticker symbol ..you should be concerned...or you really want DSH ticker symbol ha??  Grin well tough luck my friend Dashcoin isn't going anywhere.

I just asked why me?? ... it is not rejection, It seems you wanted your DASH (darkcoin) to be called DSH hmmm.

how about we both ask BTC-e? ..fair enough? both our coins are misinterpreted..makes sense we both do something about it, right?

I have already reported it to btc-e yesterday. Sad to see you did not yet, since this typo is surely creating a lot of confusion for your community...

Trying to access Dash api at https://explorer.dash.org/q via javascript gives me Cross Origin Block error. Do anyone of you know any Dash api that works with js?

I think its not possible and not wanted to access files, that are not located on your own server, via javascript. Thats not a problem with this particular API, it's javascript in general.

I access the api with a PHP file and open this file with javascript. Works fine.

Js has this limitation, but it can be overwritten by API server settings.

Dash is one of the few altcoins for which I cannot find a public API that works with Javascript. This means that you cannot do a hybrid mobile application (in cordova framework in my case) involving Dash in general. That's not a good thing for an altcoin's ecosystem I think.

Sounds like the server isn't setup for cross-origin resource sharing because I think Cordova XHR requests are already setup for CORS so it should 'just work' from your client side.

We're building a decentralized REST API for Dash Evolution hosted by the Masternode network you can call from JavaScript that will be accessible at api.dash.org, right now not sure of any public Dash APIs although maybe one of the other devs on DashTalk can answer better.

I'll have a look at enabling CORS for explorer.dash.org

edit: @borntorun: I have enabled CORS now, please try your JS code again Smiley

This is closed source. Please look at the security audit!

Ok, and where is the security audit? I can't find it in the ANN nor on http://cloakcoin.com

Additionally you should consider to remove any links to the source code in the ANN and your website if your project is closed source anyway.

Hi,

I'd like to have a look at the source code, but the git repo linked in the ANN (https://github.com/cashmen/CloakCoinRelaunch) has been updated 2 years ago - could someone give me a pointer to the current source?

Thanks in advance.

The ASICs of course. To welcome them to any network is a mistake imo. I've been kicked off at least five networks by them, so I know what I am talking about.

The masternodes could vote for the algo to be switched to stay ASIC resistant, right?
Is that being discussed somewhere?

Hey!! Linux ass hat here, Dont really know what to do with this. Hoping some wizard will come to my rescue

Do I need to delete some file, becourse there is plenty of disk space on the VPS so I dont get this message when I try to start my node Tongue

No space left on device means your disk is full. Delete something that you don't need any more or buy a larger disk.

hmm alright, Was there not some huge file in Dash that is ok to delete
Already tried to delete ~/.dash/debug.log?
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX on: February 03, 2016, 08:48:44 PM

I think Transform PR was doing a fantastic job and I would like to work with them again, however it's not really possible to do it when the network can flip-flop back and forth. We've now funded them, unfunded them, funded them again, then finally unfunded them. I would recommend the network vote down this proposal due to the completely crazy and unprofessional way this makes our operation look. How can we possibly work with a company like Transform, with 3-month minimums when our network has the ability to do a complete backflip, essentially voiding a contract?

I think it's best we wait until 12.1 when we can do irrevocable contracts like I laid out earlier.

Yep, the system obviously has room for improvements. For short term reimbursements the current implementation is enough, but for funding legally binding contracts the system is to unstable at the moment.

Yet i like to see the system to work in this very dynamic manner, excactly what we had in mind while creating the governance system: Instant voting Smiley

can someone please help with this:

Did your wallet fully sync? Syncing proposals/votes (aka additional data) may take some time...

Yeah, been running for almost a year now. 768Meg, never had any probs before. Nothing has changed.

HDD ? How long since you've dumped the debug.log? Also, keep in mind Dashninja may have it's quirks from time to time. If Elb is working the backend, some funky info may result from it.

Did you try list | grep xx.xx.xx.xx ?

hmmm. Is there a way to search by IP address now?? It appears you need to search by Vin (Hash-Index), now that we use "dash-cli"Huh Unless theres a switch somewhere??

This gives me hope..... but also a headache!

root@vultr:~/.dash# ./dash-cli masternodelist help
error: {"code":-1,"message":"masternodelist ( \"mode\" \"filter\" )\nGet a list of masternodes in different modes\n\nArguments:\n1. \"mode\"      (string, optional/required to use filter, defaults = status) The mode to run list in\n2. \"filter\"    (string, optional) Filter results. The answer is in the output you provided Smiley

Code:
root@vultr:~/.dash# ./dash-cli masternodelist full

or to filter by specific IP

Code:
root@vultr:~/.dash# ./dash-cli masternodelist full 127.0.1.47

Incredible!
Looks like we hit the historical ATH in difficulty!

Really ? If thats the case it's a great endorsement of the economic model - the fact that the reward sharing has complimented rather than inhibited the mining incentive.

Yep, block 411381 had a difficulty of 10524.894
