21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][IPO] Numus (Pow/Pos - Scrypt-Jane) | Decentralized Exchange |Cloud Storage on: April 17, 2014, 07:46:13 PM
Warning, this is most likely a scam.

As you can see the previous poster (Sherlock Holmes I think it was) found a bunch of evidence but I just discovered something else.

If you look at the whitepaper, it has a name at the end "carl himrusnich". I googled the name and only one result: the whitepaper.

Never in all the years I have used google have I only seen one result come up when searching on a name. How is that even possible?! Obviously this last name is bogus and there isn't a single other occurrence of it on the entire internet.

Also, the web site is nice and fancy, there is a nice looking whitepaper complete with references, but notice how there is absolutely no technical details on the product itself.

In conclusion, this is most likely a very well thought out elaborate scam!
Carl Himrusnich is most likely a psuedonym of some sorts like Satoshi or Sunny King coz they said they want to be anonymous.
Whose Sunny king?

Is there a minimum investment?
Yep its 0.01 I think.

EDIT The minimum amount is 0.1 BTC
Correct, the minimum investment amount is 0.1 BTC.
"The minimum buy-in price is 0.1 BTC". It's just fuckin' awesome scam.
How so?

Dev sold all his pre-mined coins and crashed the market on blitzcoin
Really? So the dev of Whitecoin is the same guy who developed Blitzcoin?

Just a thought, Blackcoin has got a kickass multipool method going for them Numus should have the same.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | on exchanges | PoS | No premine on: April 16, 2014, 07:41:46 PM
Hey, can anyone here tell me about the Blackcoin card? Been searching through around 7 pages of posts but nothing yet?
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are your thoughts on Numus' Features? Decentralized Exchange and more on: April 16, 2014, 03:28:10 PM
There's around 1 week left in the IPO I think if anyone wants to invest.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][IPO] Numus (Pow/Pos - Scrypt-Jane) | Decentralized Exchange |Cloud Storage on: April 16, 2014, 02:26:12 PM
Hey, so I've been trying to rally some people to form a group to get Numus onto exchanges once it's released PM me if anyone is interested in joining.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zerocoin - has it's time come? on: April 16, 2014, 02:23:39 PM
Or perhaps Darkcoin once it's made open source? (don't think it is yet...)

I'm sure it is otherwise other coins wouldn't be able to clone X11.

I've got some spare time, thinking of setting up an IRC channel.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: April 03, 2014, 07:59:49 PM
Take a look at Numus : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=543503.0

Easily the best alt-coin to invest in 2014.

Really excited about this!

Numus, is it possible to consider changing the algorithm? Edgecoin recently decided to change their algorithm to X11 - that seems to be the one that everyone wants now (more than Scrypt-Jane).
X11 currently does not currently have a wide variety of mining software supporting the algorithm to make it accessible to most. The mining software that are currently available seem to be inefficient and do not support NVIDIA GPU's. Although some may argue that most miners make use of AMD cards rather than NVIDIA, this goes against Numus' philosophy of accessibility. We want everyone regardless of hardware constraints to mine/make use of Numus right from the start.

What about upcoming ASIC's, which have the potential to push Scrypt (possibly Scrypt-Jane) coins difficulty to the stratosphere, making Numus mining non-accessible (yet again) for everyone except the few industrial datorhalls?
I haven't heard of any ASICs coming out for Scrypt-Jane yet, so I don't think the guys over at Numus should be worried, but I could be wrong.

There aren't any yet, but that's not to say it can't be done. I thought I remember reading somewhere that ASICs for Scrypt-Jane are more feasible than for X11. Also, X11 supposedly runs a lot cooler.

I'm not an expert on these algorithms at all - I'd just like to see Numus use whichever algo that will make the greatest number of people adopt Numus. If they feel that is Scrypt-Jane then I trust their decision.
I heard the only reason X11 runs cooler is because the miners released for it are not efficient. It makes sense though because the algorithm can't magically make your graphics card run cooler, the temperature depends on the stress on the graphics card and if the miner isn't pushing your card to its max which would be the case if its inefficient then obviously the miner's card would run cooler.

Just wondering if you guys will put up your own forum.
Yeah we'd live to see a forum.

I'd rather see an IRC Channel of some sort put up instead.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][IPO] Numus (Pow+Pos - Scrypt-Jane) - Decentralized Exchange, Cloud Storage on: April 02, 2014, 07:15:05 PM

Isn't there? I thought X11 had miners for AMD, NIVIDIA and CPU's. I also thought it was more efficient but from what I've heard of in the last few days it seems like its the exact opposite.
Nope there isn't. I saw a bounty posted for it in the Altcoin Forum for one but I don't think a X11 miner for Nvidia GPU's will come out anytime soon.
I searched for a while and eventually found the bounty thread. So basically all new crypto's launching with X11 are AMD only currently? That seems a bit closed off.

This is an interesting coin that really stands out from most of the others on the forum. Watching Wink
I've said this countless times about this coin, but it seems too many just label it as a scam without looking at anything what these guys posted just because it has an IPO. It's quite sad really.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][IPO] Numus (Pow+Pos - Scrypt-Jane) - Decentralized Exchange, Cloud Storage on: April 02, 2014, 04:04:05 PM
X11 is bullshit at the moment. The GPU miners that are public are inefficient. That is obvious by the fact they run cool. There are rumors that the elite few have optimized GPU miners. Not fair, so X11 is no good at the moment. Scrypt-Jane all the way.

MisO69 you've summed it up perfectly. There isn't even a NVIDIA Miner for X11.

We have kept our identities unknown, mainly for privacy reasons. Please take a look at what we have posted first before prematurely making accusations solely based on the fact that we are offering an IPO.

privacy reasons? Unless you are Satoshi Nakamoto, there is no need for this. Are you planning on an escrow for the IPO? if there is no escrow, then you are a scammer, plain and simple.
We shall not be using escrow for the IPO, simply due to the fact we have no guarantee that the individual who is providing the escrow will keep the funds safely and not take the funds that have been raised and run away with them.

We shall not invest in another IPO coin, simply due to the fact we have no guarantee that the individual who is announcing the coin will keep the funds safely and not take the funds that have been raised and run away with them.

FTFY
FFS these guys alreay mentioned that they've included optional escrow for the IPO.
