Tried that but whatever the parameter I set it always returns a high difficulty.

Code:
{"error":null,"result":{"midstate":"cdbeb901af7773616ae2aa37f9ee53cfe65876fc1d070b8789af21579b2ae330","target":"0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000a13060000000","data":"000000018b860e7f8626452aa43c80a35c9b4b7f770f30cdd9d21c6fa79111566f6a5a7155f8fc6b04455d5a548a096198ff371707157ec552e946e6ef62b6036a66639d4e9c45c61d6030a100000000000000800000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000080020000","hash1":"00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000008000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000010000"}}

That's what I get using curl. "target" never changes.

Or I misunderstand the rpc data?

_

Edit: I was still using jgarzik's pushpool. Seems old to tenebrix-like currencies. Now I cloned ArtForz/pushpool/tenebrix and it works!

Thanks for the information to the settings!

Yeah, you've got to be on artforz's fork of it. TBX and LTC use scrypt not sha256. Artforz also added that retarget method that works very nice for setting the difficulty to whatever you would like which we need since the difficulty is < 1 for the CPU currencies.

Hi, I just have some backend things to ask.

You said that you are using pushpoold as pool software and managed to set the difficulty to an easier one. I have a private pool to set up but I can't change the difficulty by editing the config file. It always stick at a high difficulty. Could you tell me how did you accomplish that?

# rewrite returned 'target' to given number of zero bits, 32 equals difficulty-1
"rpc.target.bits" : 32,

That's the line you want to change. 32 = bitcoin difficulty 1, which of course isn't what you want for LTC!!
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ! First Live, working, wonderful LiteCoin Pool! LTC! > 1 Mhash! on: October 17, 2011, 02:10:25 PM
Its very sad that pool has NO CONTACT INFO.
I forgot my password to pool, so can't change any settings.
There is NO LINK in the pool site to contact anyone to change password or for any other things.
Seems just this thread is the only option to ask for change password.

Yet, I have no PM from you. I have said, if you need to contact me, PM me. This is on the website for you now.

So stop trolling my thread. I've made it very clear about the password. Your password can only request an auto payout, and change your threshold. I've salted, peppered, and secured the password you submitted to me. How the FUCK am I supposed to reset it for you? How are you supposed to reset it? Anyone that knows your address should be able to reset it?

I don't require an email or any bullshit to sign up. It's an address. It's an easy thing to do. You're not even mining on my pool. So, stop trolling, and go away.

If you want to handle this like a mature adult, please PM me with what you would like to accomplish. I can't reset your password, but if you PM me I would be more than happy to set your threshold to a different amount, or payout all your coins for you and disable your account. Please, just let me know. You can ask anyone that has contacted me via the approved channels I've been more than happy to help them.

Please change your scan time guys. I've got a bunch of people still hammering rpc every couple of seconds for a single worker. Change your --s to 60. Longpolling is enabled so you might actually be slowing your miner down if you are waiting on new work. I just reset the server because of the RPC errors. Quick reset and upgrade to the latest lockin on the chain. Should be rolling.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ! First Live, working, wonderful haha LiteCoin Pool! LTC! on: October 16, 2011, 09:23:12 PM
Something weird just happened. Two blocks found very quickly. But my script recorded the same block number for both of them. Your stats will show the same reward for both of them, but that is a combined total. When the first one matures, you will get the balance from both of them. I'm investigating but it technically didn't break anything, just looks screwy.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pool mining shares question on: October 16, 2011, 09:15:43 PM
Block #  Confirmations  Time found  Duration  Round Shares  Total Amount of your reward
12384       7             10/17 12:57 am        13 Min    1356       0.07005899 LTC
12379       12             10/17 12:44 am        7 Min    657      0 LTC
12372       19             10/17 12:37 am        1 Min    15        0 LTC

why are some of my rewards 0 LTC....  if i was mining the whole way through shouldn't i get a cut of some of those blocks... I shows that i had some shares.  very confused.  passing the following into minerd for core2 duo.

minerdc2.exe --algo scrypt --s 15 --threads 2 --url http://184.107.145.244:8332 --userpass LWzVwFMx4cFPpBQ4tw4VjE5pnebMUaViwZ_1:1

Please change your scantime to at least 30, preferably 60 seconds.

I checked your account, and you had no shares on those two rounds. The sahres you have listed, are the total round shares. 15 shares, and one wasn't yours. If it was, you would have got several coins for just one share. 7 minute one, you had no shares there either. How much hash are you coming at the server with? The 13 minute round and getting 0.07 probably means you are not bringing a lot of CPU power.

Just updated the payout so it pays out if your threshold is met as soon as the 120 shares are confirmed!

Got them. Sent 8 more also. Nice to do business. Post when you have confirmations on all 16.

Got a confirmation on both of them. Thanks. You've got 4 on yours so far.

I created an account, and am getting 403 error when pointing my miner at it:

Quote
C:\Program Files (x86)\Litecoin\litecoin-windows-miner-10-10-2011>minerd.exe --algo scrypt --s 6
--threads 8 --url http://184.107.145.244:8332 --userpass <my_address>_1:1

[2011-10-15 19:34:30] HTTP request failed: The requested URL returned error: 403
[2011-10-15 19:34:30] json_rpc_call failed, retry after 30 seconds

403 is bad credentials. You don't need to change the URL. Check your username though. Did you register? You have to register first, that way you can set up your payout threshold and stuff first.

Please also, change your scan time, --s 6 is way fast for a pool with pushpool enabled!

Hehe, I just changed my username into rubbish to test and got an 403.
So credentials is the answer.

You say that like you didn't trust me. 403 = bad credentials. Ripper, if you want to PM me your account address I can cut and paste a string for you into PM. I'm almost wondering if you forgot to register because the _1:1 format is spot on.

Hi payout seem to be broken at the moment worked the first time and not since the coins keep being awarded and the balance increases so that part is still working.

Payout was set at every 8 hours. That looks like it is working fine, thousands of coins paid out to pool users. I've updated it to every 4 hours now. If your balance > your payout minimum, then every 4 hours, the payment will be sent. Minimum threshold is only 1 right now, so if you set it to 1, you should get all of your coins ever 4 hours. I'll update that as we go but I didn't want to get forced into paying too many fees. I haven't been able to get senttomany to work correctly for me yet.

Thanks for all the support guys. I'm going to stick with an IP for now. The IP won't change even if I get a domain name. I'm waiting for a big boy like btcguild to come in and make a litecoin pool and crush me. Then there is no reason for me to buy a domain name Cheesy We will see how it goes.

New code I pushed out for orphans worked great. Had our second orphan a little bit ago. I'll add a few more faq's on there and maybe restore the one that said q: why are you so cool? a: Born that way. Cheesy

http://litecoinpool.dyndns.org

I pointed my miners to it at port 8332, works great Smiley

Haha, cool, and free. Except I don't have control of the URL Cheesy Would you mind mentioning how to add that hash rate signature to posts? That's pretty cool. I know I didn't make it, I just gave you the JSON stats.

I just put it in there as plain text Tongue 6x 3.5Khash cores = 21 Khash  Grin

That had me laughing very hard. I assumed you were updating it dynamically somehow! I'm looking into signature bars. I don't know if everyone wants them but shouldn't be too time consuming to whip something up.

...
If BTC-E doesn't implement quickly, my next project is a quick BTC TBX LTC exchange.

Don't forget FBX too if you do Smiley

I got confirmation BTC-E is opening and so is another exchange. My exchange plans will be put on hold for now. Plenty of other good vendors that can supply that service. The way I set up my pool, is a password isn't really needed and your payout address is your login. Makes security simple. I still take some good precautions with the passwords of course, but it doesn't need to be too crazy because if you login, you can't really screw with anyone's account. That's not the same for an exchange. So hopefully they have some good security measures in place and we will let them take charge. I think FBX is fizzling out though. LTC already has more blocks than FBX and more hash power than TBX.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ! First Live, working, wonderful haha LiteCoin Pool! LTC! on: October 15, 2011, 12:19:30 AM
More than 40 blocks and we just had our first orphan. Code didn't work as I expected it to with multiple users. Your balance still showed your share, but it never would have paid out. I updated the script so it will immediately pull orphaned amounts once discovered.

Thanks for the testimonial. Please message me if there is anything you'd like to see improved. I'm not trying to have a deepbit level of server here but I always try to stick to the keep it simple philosophy.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] ! First Live, working, wonderful haha LiteCoin Pool! LTC! on: October 15, 2011, 12:06:55 AM
how many confirms does this pool wait for?

120 i think

Correct, 120. That's when it will let me pay out the coins. As soon as they are available to the server, you can request an instant payout and have them in your hands immediately.

PM your LTC address and username and I'll send you back the pools 5%. A failing beta version doesn't deserve it ATM.

Failing? Looks like success from here. Props for the legwork on getting the pool running. My measly 6 cores (Goldie) don't eve show up now, but no worries. Vultures gonna eat every time, so get your cut, and keep my 5%.

Old quote son. I've got a pool thread over here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=48192.20 For those first blocks, I'll still refund the 5%. It is working good now. Hop back over and check it out now. We have have over an 1/6th of the network on the pool.
