21  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / bitcoinqt doesn't add transaction fee even if it is set in Settings? on: January 14, 2015, 09:21:48 AM
Hi,

I'm using bitcoinqt 0.9.3 windows and I have "0.00010000" under "Pay transaction fee". Yet still I see some transactions are sent without fees (and thus are taking extremely long to get confirmed). How is this possible? Is this a bug?

And another questions: do bitcoin transactions ever expire? If they have 0 confirmations in a particular time period?
22  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What kind of hash power is needed to confirm a particular amount of transactions on: January 06, 2015, 02:48:12 PM
Thanks for the answers. I also read this: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Scalability ... I now understand that Bitcoin can handle 7 tps (= 7 transactions per second or max 604,800 daily) and that this does not depend on network hash rate. Hopefully we'll soon come close to those limits and see a hard fork of Bitcoin to a larger max block size Wink

No. of transaction does not have anything to do with network hash power.

So what you are saying is that it would be just as well if there would only be one, for example, AntMiner S3 (450 GH/s) connected to the Bitcoin network and everything would work just as fine as is now with thousands of miners?

As the title says - what kind of hash power is needed to confirm a particular amount of transactions?

Let us assume that there would be only 1 TH/s of total Bitcoin network hash power. How many transactions per day (per hour) is able to confirm this kind of hashing power? How does the amount of hashing power correlate with the amount of transactions?

Currently we are aprox. 320 PH/s - how many transactions (confirmed) par day can handle this kind of hash power?

Currently we are aprox. 100k transactions per day - what kind of minimum hash power do we need to handle (confirm) that many transactions par day?

Or is what I'm saying completely wrong and those numbers depends on other factors?

Hashlets are of no interest any more, but anyway - did you notice that "HashletBit" hashlet is still at non-zero payout rate even if TradeMyBit is already closed for mining? Haha... Cool

If this guy's calculations are correct (So the final PoW Block with have almost 170,000 XPY reward in it?), then the race for the final block is going to be, hmm, crazy?

https://hashtalk.org/topic/23822/so-the-final-pow-block-with-have-almost-170-000-xpy-reward-in-it

... but most probably they'll change the rules and won't let it happen ... or not ... who knows Wink

This was removed from Hashtalk extremely fast Wink

PayCoin whitepaper states: "The miner who mines the final block, will receive a proportional block reward that is derived over the existence of the Proof-Of-Work stage, in relation to difficulty of the mined block".

Do I get this right that all blocks should be mined until 1419094800 (Sat, 20 Dec 2014 17:00:00 GMT)? And 12 mio coins have already been pre-mined and now the rest 500k are being mined?

Interesting debate on the "imaginary" ZenPool: https://hashtalk.org/t/zenpool-howdeedoodat-some-thoughts/8225

Not being too serious, more like a bit of gossip Wink, but still, can I post a conspiracy theory?

Did you notice that zenpool's symbol looks like wafflepool's sympol on a cart (only visible if you own hashlet account) in ZenCloud:

And poolwaffle says "a few things came up and I'm out of town for the week."

And today suddenly waffle profits seems on par with ZenPool "magically high profits" https://zenminer.com/pool/ ?

Is it possible that Zen/Gaw bought wafflepool? Again, I'm just speculating here and not being too serious, but @poolwaffle, do you have any comments on this?

Hey, when do you plan to review NiceHash? It's one of the most popular cloud mining services these days.

Hi ... if anyone is interested ... renters (like me) are renting massive hash power this days ... if you want to rent you hash power for some good profit with no risk, take a look at NiceHash.com ... an easy way to get some more BTC out of your rigs ...

What are your experiences with mining @wafflepool and using gridseed miners? Do you use diff higher then 512? Do you use cgminer of bfgminer? Thanks!

When I was browsing through this thread I saw some unhappy leasers & renters (due to problems with the rigs or unresponsive providers) ... well, there seem to be a new service out which solves those issues ... I really like the idea to only rent hash power on demand and to be able to set my own prices (just the way I do when trading coins) ... Anyway if anyone is looking for some alternatives just take a look here ... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=562238.0 ... I'll definitely give it a try!

I saw the announcment here ... https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=562238.0 ... I'll definitely give it a try!

Anybody knows for some good service where I could easily rent Scrypt hashing power?
