21  Other / Meta / Re: 80 Shit Posts In 1 day! How come this idiot is not banned yet ? on: July 14, 2016, 03:56:53 AM

hermanhs09 has been posting 200 posts a day also
In 5 days he had posted 980 posts.
Use 24 hours as a day, start when this thread started and go back 120 hours, or thereabout.

Holy shit he can made 980 posts just in 5 day, took 1 year for me to post like that sum.

No it didn't, liar. You've made well over 600 posts since June 1st. That's less than 1.5 months. You're a spammer posting non constructive posts to get signature payments.

You are a part of the problem.
22  Other / Meta / Re: Q: Should Lauda *really* be a moderator of bitcointalk A: no on: July 14, 2016, 01:54:14 AM
Well, if it is the case that he at first refused to intervene, and the dispute was over 1 year old, then he later intervened with a negative directly after you refused to trade with him, that seems like poor judgment.
This has nothing to do with the personal dispute which happened some time ago. This person (currently ignored) is acting like a special snowflake. I've left several ratings recently as I've caught up on that (still a long list to go). The reasoning: "We had a dispute X time ago, and you aren't allowed to leave a negative rating ever" is bullshit. Don't get me started on unjustified retaliatory feedback, which should make one less trustworthy by default.

Seriously, you're 1 year behind on providing feedback? And you're feedback for defcon is negative, but your feedback for QS is neutral? I appreciate your contributions to the forum, but I find the feedback you're leaving questionable and therefore worthless to me.
23  Other / Meta / Re: Trust system is abused. on: July 13, 2016, 12:41:37 AM
I got negative feedback from a user who refused escrow and a random user I never saw. There should be a way to apply to get feedback removed

If there was no scamming or any illegal action from your account, you should appeal to get that removed.

Anyway it does not affect the account without the proper link in the feedback (trust).

Don't encourage that.  There is no appeal process... feedback is NOT moderated, except in case of spam (posting the same feedback hundreds of times in a row).

So how about this one The Pharmacist is that not count as spam too?
You can check at my feedback, he gave me -ve trust and say me have an open scam accusiations, even i dont have it

Already msg him to remove but likely he ignore me

Hmm, looking at all the dubious trust feedback that The Pharmacist is getting since they started tagging those involved in account sales. Interesting to see how those claiming "trust abuse" provide no evidence / reference links and tend to add personal insults. Whereas The Pharmacist is taking time to add a reference to an account sales thread on every single feedback he left for that.

I can only come to the conclusion that The Pharmacist is on to something. Is he threatening your business model, account farmers and scammers? If so, good on him!

@The Pharmacist, thanks for taking the time to flag these accounts. Cheers.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's code copyright relevant question. on: July 12, 2016, 12:11:52 AM
...
Does the act of broadcasting a unique transaction created by an individual result in forfeiture of any copyright claim that individual might otherwise have had on the creation of that transaction data?

Does the act of broadcasting the block of data that a miner (or pool) created result in forfeiture of any copyright claim that the miner (or pool) might otherwise have had on that block of data?
...

If you voluntarily choose to broadcast your unique set of data on the open source network, knowing that it'll become part of the public ledger, then, whether or not it's something that can be copyrighted is pretty irrelevant, as no one is breaching your copyrights (you're the one who chose to make it public).

But I have serious doubt whether such data, despite being unique, is something that could be copyrighted, especially when it's strictly related to, derived from and only usable as part of an open source code/software. That's definitely not what IP protection is for.

I would assume that something similar as "Expectation of privacy" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expectation_of_privacy) comes into play. The whole intent of the software is to produce and maintain this public ledger. Trying to lay claim on a specific transaction or block is a ridiculous thing to do and I expect any reasonable to throw that case out immediately together with whoever brought it.

As a thought experiment I cannot come up with any scenario where a court ruling that there is a copyright on such a block would be in any way enforceable. I think that once a block is out there the only way it could be "removed" without breaking the protocol is by orphaning it. If anyone starts a legal case and wins, orphaning would be practically impossible (because it would be prohibitively expensive to orphan a long chain). The only way to "comply" with such a ruling would be to break protocol with (presumably) a hard fork. I don't see how a court would force anyone outside its jurisdiction to go along with that. The only way would be to ban Bitcoin (and the like) outright?

@Theymos

I've seen no evidence of Lauda harassing anyone or behaving badly

In spite of being a sig spammer  Wink

I think Lauda would make a decent Global Mod.

~BCX~

I disagree. Lauda is not pissing off nearly enough assholes yet to qualify for global mod.

26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Vulnerability on: May 04, 2016, 06:43:07 AM
So you think that if he posts his Bitcoin address online someone will show up at his house and kill him for it?  Well okay, thanks for the advice.

If they know there's a big pay off? Yes, criminals will use that information.
27  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P SCAMMER. I lost complete faith in this forum now. on: May 04, 2016, 06:33:49 AM
Why not pay a small amount to let someone visit him for the start? His living address was not yet checked, right?

It should not cost alot if someone living near him will do that and film the visit silently.

I am ready to pay the amount if it's small. Considering the risk involved, the amount would never be small.

Don't let anyone know who's visiting.
master-p might still be luring around the forum to erase any further traces with his alts.

The best way would be to swat him.

Yeah, that would surely instantly recover all losses and not get you in any kind of trouble. /sarcasm.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Vulnerability on: May 04, 2016, 06:31:24 AM
If you go to blockchain.info I'm sure you will find wallets with $4,000,000 - $50,000,00+ inside them, where varying large quantities would have been spent over time.

Feel free to post your wallet address online,  it's called a public key for a reason,   please read this It is mathematically improbable, intellectually ignorant, and economically unviable, to even attempt to compute a private key from any give public key in this century, and hopefully the next.

Some people did mention keyloggers, which I would say,  is a good point if you did manage to get infected by anything that would be interested in Bitcoins,  so yes, I'm sure you're wise enough to have any of these free Antivirus tools installed (if you're a Windows user).

Some of the worst advice I've heard.
1) it's indeed improbable that someone can compute the private key from a public key
2) it's entirely probably that you will be targeted by criminal elements if they know you have a large stash
2a) The cost of spamming you trying to get some malicious code on your system is minor.
2b) The cost of social engineering you is pretty minor.
2c) If you're entirely oblivious about privacy the cost of showing up at your place with a tire iron and beating the crap out of you until you open you stash is minor.

Depending on your environment the risk will vary. In Switzerland it may be alright to flaunt your stash. In Syria I would suggest being a bit more careful. As stated before; if you wouldn't flaunt the stack of gold bars you keep at your place then you probably shouldn't flaunt your bitcoin stash either.

As an added note; Anti-virus increases attack surface. Good luck with your free anti-virus applications.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THIS Proves Craig Wright Created Bitcoin and is Satoshi Nakamoto on: May 04, 2016, 06:02:35 AM
A single youtube video proves nothing at all. It certainly does not prove that Craig is Nakamoto.

Probably the video owner is trying to get a million views and earn some money from the youtube and nothing else.

It doesn't prove anything about Nakamoto's identity.

While the post may be click bait you obviously did not click it or watch the video. So please refrain from making statements about what is and isn't in the video. Also, while I'm sure the video owner wouldn't mind getting a million views I highly doubt that they posted it with that goal in mind.

I actually found the video to be a very good summary of this whole Craig Writoshi saga.
30  Other / Meta / Re: Delete my account or ban me on: April 29, 2016, 05:55:45 AM
You should sell your account. I'm sure it's worth a few cents.

Semi-serious. It's an alternative to going through tor / vpn and having to pay off any "evil". And anyone buying it for that reason is probably going to end up getting banned.  Wink
31  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is this real? Is this legal in Thailand? on: April 26, 2016, 01:16:25 AM

So this device is for real or not?

It's still listed for sale http://www.advanced-intelligence.com/telephone.html#!au688

No one from thailand here that can search this shop?

Search this shop and do what?

The site design is horrible. It hasn't been updated in ages. No SSL. Do you really want to deal with this shop?

And still...  Sad

I admire your persistence. I do hope it will pay off. Sometime.

You may notice the troll is a tad chubby; this is because the abundance of food people keep throwing at it.

34  Other / Meta / Re: TOS for the Digital goods section on: March 21, 2016, 01:04:02 AM
Replace the term TOS with the word Agreement. Because you agreed to the TOS when you obtained your service. Is it alright for people to not honour their agreements? Would you leave negative feedback for people that do not honour their agreements?
35  Other / Meta / Re: Q: Should Lauda *really* be a moderator of bitcointalk A: no on: March 17, 2016, 12:40:17 AM
I called you out on calling someone a retard, making you look bad, and subsequently did something to retaliate against me.
Cherry picking is not nice. User-to-user interaction (trust) is not relevant here. If what you say was the case, then whenever a staff member has an argument with somebody they aren't allowed to leave them a trust rating anytime afterwards because that would mean that they can't be impartial? This is one of the reasons why trust is not moderated.

There's being impartial while seeming partial. If you want to avoid any semblance of partiality I suggest you study Quickseller; their use of multiple accounts would be very useful for it.
However I'd much prefer if you just keep doing what you're doing now and take the butthurt as a sign of a job well done.
36  Other / Meta / Re: Stopping gift card money laundering on: February 26, 2016, 09:49:32 AM
Also why dont you acknowledge the fact that acquiring giftcards and then selling in bulk at a loss is feasible

please explain how one can buy GCs in bulk so he gets awesome discounts like 80%
You dont have to buy them, skip back a few pages, and an 80% discount is probably not legit, in talking about people giving discounts in the  20-30% region

i know there are websites out there, and i think i posted it before, that enables reselling with that rates. i didnt check anonymous22 cards against public offers, but i know a few sellers that use that as their source.

so basicly your fighting for anonymous22 because this might be his source while we talking about hardcore discounts. so we talking in different directions. BUT if OgNasty confirms the source is fine, anons feedback will be removed. So the system works.

In that case are you going to leave a positive feedback? Since you've verified their source and are convinced they're actually honest and fair.

If you're going to work this system of "vetting" sellers, it should work both ways, right?
37  Other / Meta / Re: Boards that don't contribute to activity on: February 19, 2016, 12:46:03 AM
Without knowing what you're trying to achieve with this change it's a bit hard to give a well thought out opinion. I can only assume it's to reduce the spam caused by signature campaigns. That's all fine but it will mean the signature spammers will spread out to other boards and that may increase the burden on moderators. If they're on board I'd say go for it. But it does seem a bit like a small patch, not a complete solution.

I was thinking that making the post count only show up when you're watching your own profile (or even completely hiding it) would make things harder on signature campaigns. But it would be quite a radical change and people might not like losing one of their ego stats.

Against Butterfly Labs and Vleisides, the judgment is $38,615,161, which will be suspended upon Butterfly Labs’ payment of $15,000, and Vleisides’ payment of $4,000. Against Drake, the judgment is $135,878, which will be suspended once she surrenders the cash value of all Bitcoins she obtained using company machines.

If I understand this correctly they pay less $20.000 in this settlement? What are the odds of criminal charges against them? Because this looks like a joke to me so far.
39  Other / Meta / Re: Negative user in default trust 1 on: February 18, 2016, 01:14:53 AM
I removed everyone from my trust list including DT.  Not going to add anyone to it but I'll still leave feedback for people I do deals with or scammers and so forth.

I tend to think that that's the right way to start out.  Who knows, maybe you'll find someone who's feedback you trust and add them.  In anycase, the centralization of trust around the default trust list has let to mountains of scams around here.  The best thing that people can do to alleviate that is to remove default trust and build their own lists and teach others to do the same.
Well I have done a few small deals with people, but I don't feel the need to see green or red under their avatar--all of that I can check manually.  There are definitely people on DT that I trust the feedback of, but I've come to believe that the trust system here as it exists at present is pretty damn broken.  All the negative trust I've gotten is from people I've never done deals with--they just didn't like some of my comments and there are no reference links or anything.  The fact that this is possible is just shitty.  And yes, I know untrusted feedback doesn't change your score.  Positive trusted feedback doesn't change your score either, at least that other people can see.

You should / could add the accounts whose feedback you value to your trust list and still go to check feedback manually before making a deal. This gives you the benefit of having some quick indication if someone is trusted or not. The critical thing is to understand that the feedback is just a tool to help you determine if someone can be trusted or not.

People who go blindly on a trust score are just waiting to get scammed (in general, not just on this forum) because they're too naive to check who they're dealing with.
40  Other / Meta / Re: "Rabinovitch" has been locked for some reason... Please help!.. on: February 18, 2016, 12:52:44 AM
Hello again! I'm still here waiting for the miracle. theymos doesn't reply on my PMs.

Can I post somewhere out of this Meta thread under this temporary account? What if I need help with my mining equipment for example?..
If your account is banned, you cannot post on anywhere on the meta forum, and nothing unrelated to your account being banned. This is a temporary account made for recovery purposes only.

They are not banned. Their account got locked out:

Quote
January 23, 2016, 09:10:20 AM - Rabinovitch - password reset via secret question
January 23, 2016, 02:09:30 AM - Rabinovitch - password changed

It's locked because you've used the secret question to recover your account:

So they can create as many new accounts as they want and post everywhere. They just have to deal with newbie restrictions...
