BTW, how many times someone has to watch Tenet to fully understand it?
I kinda of get it...but sometimes the ends don't really meet (unsurprisingly).

Definitely has a lot of loose ends. Time travel stuff always will. I think Nolan's reach exceeded his grasp on that one TBH.

Anything with time travel will always be in the realm of science fiction. Terminator, Back to the Future, The Flash TV series (Barry runs so fast he can go to the past or the future), Time Cop ... Avengers.

The only way to travel through time is towards the future, and that's not really time travel, that's just waiting in stasis until you wake up, or you travel so fast time passes faster for everyone else, which kinda defeats the purpose of trying to move as fast as light or faster than light.

One can maybe "visit" or see the past, but so far "travelling" to the past is simply not possible. We'd have seen something by now maybe.

Without getting into the math too much there are a couple of reasons I believe time travel is nothing but a pipe dream. Imagine two people standing on either side of a doorway wanting to travel through time. Alice looks through the doorway and see's Bob staring back a her. She wants to step from her present into her past by going through the doorway into Bob's present. So now we have two distinct problems, one is figuring out the exact temporal distance between Alice and Bob but you also need to calculate the exact spatial distance as well. For Alice to just step through the doorway and be standing next to Bob if they are in the same house is a huge problem. You would need to know the exact spatial relationship between Alice, Bob and the doorway. This would be a incredibly complex problem for the world's best supercomputers today...even though Bob and Alice are only a few feet and a few seconds apart in the above scenario. Imagine trying to bridge a spatial relationship gap of centuries and thousands of miles. The Earth is orbiting the Sun at 67,000mph, the Sun orbits our Milkyway at 500,000mph. Everything is moving 1,367,016.623mph in relation to the CMB.
My point being is I dont think traveling through time is a easy problem to crack given the computational resources required to establish where you are and where you would like to go. I did like the swimming pool part in that movie, one of the more realistic scenes imo.

One of my oldest and analysed Bitcoin valuation Models:

Total financial wealth: 275 trillions or 275,000,000,000,000.
If only 1% of this goes to BTC 2,750,000,000,000.
There are 21,000,000 around.

2,750,000,000,000 USD/21,000,000 BTC= 131,000 BTCUSD.

Nice.

Back to the game now.

Good place to start. I do not believe there will ever be 21 million in circulation myself. Only around 22%(4.2 million)Bitcoin are actually what could be considered liquid.

Maybe $654,761.9047619047619047619047619‬ looking at it this way. Seems reasonable to me.

Maybe some of the resident experts could chime in on the whole flaccidness of the situation. It will probably be a light day of trading as US markets remain closed from the holiday. The current poll sums it up nicely. Trading in a downward trending channel within a range with breakout potential between $25 to $50 thousand.

I  Love the Independence Day celebration skin, but Damn that's hard to read!
What if the Red & White stripes flipped at the make line? Does that ruin the flag appearance?

It absolutely would be incorrect. And whilst for me, it would simply be "wrong", I'm sure it would upset some. There might be another way but it's only for today anyway.

fun fact -

Robert G. Heft, the Designer of the 50-Star Flag Lived in Lancaster, Ohio.

In 1958, a history teacher assigned a class assignment to redesign the national flag as both Alaska and Hawaii neared statehood.

Robert G. Heft, who was 16 at the time, designed a new flag using the old 48-star flag and $2.87 worth of blue cloth and white iron-on material. His design earned him a B-minus to which he challenged by sending it to Washington D.C. to be considered by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

According to his obituary, Heft was one of thousands to submit a flag design but he was the only person who actually stitched together a flag and shipped it to D.C.

Once the flag was selected, Heft's grade was rightfully changed to an A. His design became the official flag in 1960.

Sometimes I think how peaceful the crypto space would have been if there were no altcoins.
Am i the only one thinking like this?

I think Alts are great, they make you realize how good Bitcoin really is.

If only alts remained to be named anything else other than Bitcoin, I think they'll be fine and we would all know they are separate. It's the alts that make a claim to be Bitcoin, or have Bitcoin somewhere in their name that causes issues.

At least with alts called Litecoin or Ethereum, you know it's a different coin... But if it's trying to say "we are the fake bitcoin, or the true bitcoin, or the cash bitcoin, or weather bitcoin (where we store the atmosphere in the blockchain) ..." ... it can get confusing. Maybe that's intentional, I dunno. For awhile it seemed like it was.

There is definitely differences between the complete garbage coin's and just plain garbage coin's to the interesting but lets see is there is any actual utility coin's. Either way they are all attack vectors and Bitcoin continues to defend itself in admirable fashion against all comers so far. Let the best coin win, I know where my money is and where it will continue to go and I feel pretty damn good about it. Tired of getting poor slowly.

Good morning Bitcoinland. Happy Canada Day all you WO Canucks.

Still stuck in the mid-$3xxxx range... currently $33740USD/$41714CAD (Bitcoinaverage). Waiting for October.

Too busy getting infrastructure together at the lake. Moved in temporary trailer last week. Laid gravel bed for the shipping container that will serve as garage and secure storage. After a couple of months of day trips we're ready to start spending nights.

Take 1g of Vitamin C every hour all day. That knocked out my COVID in a day.

Uh ... I know there's no such thing as Vitamin C overdose, but that's twice more than the maximum recommended (10 grams per day, some articles say 2 grams per day is the max without side effects) on some studies I read. I just take 1g a day and I'm doing fine. Maybe 2 if I don't forget, and just your typical costco / kirkland brand too.

Any more than 5 to 10 and you're likely to just waste it.

But then again, COVID is a new thing, perhaps that's what is needed ...

Someone with far more expertise than I about vitamins mentioned about doing it once in an hour due to how it is absorbed by the body and how quickly it loses effect (or something along those lines). Basically spreading it out throughout the day is the key.

There is something about the body not absorbing as efficient from pills as it does from food also.

I get my Vitamin C both ways. I eat a healthy diet of fresh foods, not peeled (the skin's the best part), not overcooked, and also take a 1000mg time-release Vitamin C tablet every morning and night.

Using time-release tablets is key.  Your body quickly pisses it out so you need to keep trickling your supply slowly into your system. This is why dietary Vitamin C works better. Digestion of food releases the C at a slower rate, just as soluble fiber slows the absorption of sugars, slowing diabetes.

Canada Day and the founding of chicom authoritarianism, what a bi-polar world we live in. Does not seem fair. Happy C-day anyway JimboToronto.

OK... I need y'all to talk me off the ledge.

My state attack paranoid theory along with the 139 minute block time this morning between 689300 and 689301 has me all would up thinking about reorgs etc.

_edit_

So I have been doing a little math (remember that I am a musician primarily... so math is a dark art for me), and putting aside things like the first few blocks and amazingly long times then, my figuring based on reasonable swings in hashrate (including the one we are in now) this type of gap should not happen more frequently than like 3+ halving Epochs.  I might have my figuring wrong, and some of it is on my head-napkin.  It could be even more EV rare than that.

I've just bought for 500€ and I will keep doing that DCA each month until I retire. My advise for bigger sums is to divide them at least in 3 parts and buying now with the first part. In case the price falls enough, fire the next buy and so on.
I have already bought worth $10k in 3 Months.
I will follow your technique. Thank you! Smiley

The number of USDTs irrelevant. What matters is how significant that amount is for you and what's your tolerance for risk. Is that your life savings? Or just some pocket change left over from buying a lambo last week? And how badly would you mindrust yourself if you lost half of it overnight?
Thank you for making me view it from an interesting viewpoint.

I will continue with DCA however I feel myself overbuying which might be a problem  Roll Eyes

Don’t listen to both of them until the Dude has spoken, my point of view …. All in especially if it’s already in USDT, I prefer my wealth in BTC at any time and especially over USDT …. If it’s already converted from fiat to crypto, then HODL the right one as a MAIN rule

Also if it’s already in USDT then it’s purpose is investing it and not needing it for daily things “I think” …. So ALL ASAP

Listening to advice on a maximalist Bitcoin forum is OK in my opinion but I think you need to make up your own mind when it comes to financial investments. Trust your feeling's Luke. What I mean is maybe buy a nice fat stack of satoshi's with say a quarter of your fiat available for the warm fuzzy feeling it gives you and break the rest into smaller DCA portion's until that over-invested feeling dissipates to a manageable level. After several of these "hi-lo" roller-coaster ride's you will be a grizzled battle hardened veteran with a solid investment plan that fit's your personal risk tolerance.

Artist depiction of Bitcoin blackhole consuming JPMorgue neutron star (shriveled corpse of a former sun)

Apt analogy. It blows my mind that from what I have read the "corpse" was not subject to the theorized spaghettification effect. It appears the singularity "swallowed" the neutron star directly over the event horizon and this was what caused the shockwave through space-time. To take your analogy further marcus_of_augustus, this is how I imagine the final throws of Bitcoins adoption to play out on the way to capitulation from CB's and(more)nation state's. Boom!!

Ah! But it's so important to know what one doesn't know! Otherwise we're limited to what one knows, which is quite limiting indeed. However, delving into the unknown with both feet leaves one ungrounded, and prone to being swept into chaotic confusion. So ideally, the way forward is to plant one foot solidly into what one knows while boldly reaching out with the other foot, into the unknown. So if you don't know what you know, and even more importantly, know what you don't know, then clearly you're lost, and should probably sit for a moment and ponder, lest you fall in ignorance.

Welcome to the Wall Walt! It's refreshing to see new faces as a Newbie.

Crabs, crabs, everywhere.

Aha, there is a name for the pattern, bullish crabs, thanks.

I like it. I think also of note is the parabolic curve that can be observed on the hourly chart. Very symmetrical, revealing strong control by a sophisticated algorithm. This reeks of institutional HFT in my opinion.
edit- cAPSLOCK has a very nice chart showing this presumed object a few post's down thread.

JPM advising investors to hold off buying as there will be corn at $16k, whilst they are busy hoovering up anything sub £35k.

I am not convinced these institutions have reached the enlightenment stage yet with Bitcoin and are still treating it like a conventional asset.

Fake Satoshi perjured himself yesterday and was v happy with the "default" judgement in the London Court, as always there is one law for the poor and no law for the rich.

Same goes for Musk any other person without substantial wealth would have faced the SEC with possible jail time for market manipulation via his tweets.

However I loath that lowlife POS CSW, whilst Musk basks in the sunshine in comparison.

I agree that there might have been other option besides defaulting in this case. I think a competent barrister could have argued for a sealed proceeding on the grounds of possible bodily harm or some other form of retaliation being made upon the defendant if his identity had been revealed to the general public. I also think that if there were financial considerations that kept this case from being defended properly that the Bitcoin community would have rallied in support. I also agree that the disparity between the haves and have nots in most judicial systems is a heinous thing. I think Elon Musk is more clever than most give credit for, it could just be he was tweaking the nose of the SEC and exercising his right to free speech. I do not care for his obsession with dogecoin even though it is a interesting community with tremendous support. I remain unconvinced of its long term store of value properties and usefulness. There is only one person who really knows the motive and I don't believe the man has time or the inclination to explain to us mere mortal's.

First glimmer of daybreak. Long working day ahead.

Have a good day all.

Day late and a dollar short probably but have a good day as well Farmer Bill.

If we can bump up past here it's pretty clear to 38k.  But there is no actual volume.

What we seem to have is a bullish small player, retail.  And whales selling .

I am not sure I agree with this premise. Without people selling, there are no people buying. Without people buying, there are no people selling. I don't whale's need or want to sell at this point of the adoption curve.

Of course, it is your choice regarding how amorphous you want to be in terms of presenting your information in the thread in terms of what you know and why you might have arrived at some of your speculative conclusions, whether posting about BTC or other related areas that we might touch upon here from time to time.

I appreciate having choices and I really appreciate the diversity of this thread. The people here are amazing and the range of discussion is quite stimulating. I do not believe I am being inchoate in presenting any information and have not touched at all upon what I know and don't know. I do think there is a lot more I don't know than there is I know. I think I am confused now, no matter.

But, yeah if you want to come off as if you are smarter than everyone else, that could be problematic... but do as you wish.. I have no problem with your participation, and likely with the passage of time, many of us will get to know you better anyhow, so long as you continue to post and provide various kinds of information... however, if some of your information seems in need of details, seems misleading or disingenuine or raises questions about how you are arriving at your conclusions, don't be surprised if some people might question your intentions or your reasons for raising such topic(s)...

I hope I am not coming off that way. That is not my intent at all and I think there are many people here who are far more educated and much smarter than me. I think everyone should raise questions if what is posted appears to be misleading or shows a lack of relationship with whatever the current topic of discussion might be.

Personally, I appreciate coming across some potentially new perspectives in the thread, but of course, if I believe some aspects of your posts (or the posts of any other member for that matter) are problematic in one way or another, I am not going to be easily cowed or dissuaded in terms of saying my piece in the way that I have decided to do so.. Of course, I don't read every post, and sometimes I don't feel that I understand some posts sufficiently enough to respond (or sometimes some posts might not raise any point that interests me at the moment I come across the post), so there are those angles, too...

New perspectives are the bread of life in my opinion. I surely hope anything I have said has not dissuaded you from thinking what you want and stating it on a public forum. I don't think many have the time or inclination to read and especially respond to the many post's that flow through this thread. It sure is fun trying though.

In any event, so far, you have made some somewhat interesting points and posts... even if I have not agreed with several of them.

I agree with you on that and the feeling is mutual.  Smiley

Isn't this usually where someone posts a popcorneating.gif?   Cool

A firm rejection at $35k. I think 35.5k will be tested soon.

Many of you probably already have a preferred wall watching site if that is what is done around here. I like this one as it shows relevant information for multiple exchange's.

http://data.bitcoinity.org/markets/books/USD

Bid's are moving upwards from 34k towards 35.5k as asks retreat. My take on it is market sentiment is in a more positive state as people realize the sky is not falling due to a bump in hashrate and/or option expiry date's. Buyer's are returning to accumulation mode in my opinion and hodlers do what they do best, hodl. Exempli gratia, me.

A look at walls between $33k and $36k.

Welcome,

Thank you modrobert.

Any currency which can be inflated as needed can never be compared to Bitcoin. I guess it will be useful for someone, but to me it's even worse than the shitcoins, at least some of those have limited amount, like Litecoin (maximum 84 million).

I think some comparative analysis is required as long as fiat trading pairs are the standard of exchange for Bitcoin. I agree with your premise though.
