21  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: May 24, 2012, 02:00:58 PM
Bravo !
Every single day has major developments and this set the bar high for today !

Agreed! But if we could benefit from all this great stuff too, it would be even cooler!  Smiley
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 300 nodes only??!!! on: May 24, 2012, 01:57:34 PM
That node count on the homepage is wrong.

If you look at the total relayed count on inventory information e.g. (http://blockchain.info/inv/00000000000009aaf32be97019bfde76bcc3c79fe5e40ca4f7fc7bac6a5883cd) you'll see the site is connected to about 3k - 4k nodes (which fits nicely with row its estimation of around ~4k listening hosts).

As long as it's not 300, I'm happy!  Cool
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 300 nodes only??!!! on: May 24, 2012, 01:56:58 PM

Well 'first circle' would imply blockchain.info is at the center.

blockchain.info node is simply a peer among peers.

Many nodes for security reasons don't accept incoming connections and connect only to peers they trust so even if blockchain.info tried to connect to every node it simply couldn't.

I meant BlockChain.info's own personal first circle...  Smiley

He he heeeeee! Thanks!  Grin

The sooner the better! Hurry up guys please!
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] A new proxy for Namecoin on: May 24, 2012, 01:27:36 PM
cool

Don't use namecoin personalty, but support the concept!

Me too!

I think the idea is genius, but it's still a bit too technical for my abilities...
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 300 nodes only??!!! on: May 24, 2012, 01:23:21 PM
That's the number of nodes blockchain.info is directly connected to.

EDIT:

Check out: http://bitcoinstatus.rowit.co.uk/ (it shows a number slightly less than 20K)

Also, it's not possible to get a reliable node count for the Bitcoin network, these are only estimations. Plus, node count doesn't tell much about the number of active users, since a lot of people don't run their own nodes.

20000... Much much better! Cool

Even if the count is not precise, this shows that the network is really robust!

Thanks for the link!

Why are questions about Europe being systematically ignored?  Huh
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 300 nodes only??!!! on: May 24, 2012, 11:38:01 AM
That's the number of nodes blockchain.info is directly connected to.

OK! Some sort of 'first circle' then... Wow, I was a little worried for a moment there!  Grin
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 300 nodes only??!!! on: May 24, 2012, 11:34:10 AM
Hi!

300... Thats the number of nodes said to be active right now on BlockChain.info... Are these the computers that support the entire BitCoin network? Is that what a node is?

If so, then I'm a little surprised... Thought there would be more, like tens of thousands maybe!  Shocked
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any trustable e-wallet services? on: May 24, 2012, 11:25:33 AM
I guess offline storage for the 'bulk' of your stuff, and online wallets for day-to-day operations would be a reasonable way of going about this...  Tongue

32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any trustable e-wallet services? on: May 24, 2012, 10:55:47 AM
How so? Do these guys have a special status in the BitCoin community?
Well, the point was that you don't need to trust Blockchain.info because the service does not hold your private keys, they are encrypted/decrypted in the browser locally. Blockchain.info also provides a validator to check that the Javascript from Blockchain.info has not been compromised.

It's also true that piuk, the guy who runs Blockchain.info, is respected in this community. He is doing a good job with Blockchain.info.

Ahaaah! Ok thanks! Smiley

I like their wallet service very much, but it would be even better if it transformed into an actual icon, once added to the home screen on iOS devices... Kind of like Google Reader does...
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: www.fiveminutecoin.com!What do you think about the new version? on: May 24, 2012, 10:05:05 AM
That is the concept.. while waiting you can click some links and visit advertisers to get the chance to get more coins..

If there are any other problems please report so I can fix them Wink

Everything looks fine now!
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: www.fiveminutecoin.com!What do you think about the new version? on: May 24, 2012, 09:39:40 AM
Stay there for 50 Seconds and you get 0.0025 bitcoin.. if you stay 5 Minutes you get 0.005 Wink

Chrome should work now..

It does indeed!  Wink

This actually makes sense if you're moving about, and not doing any thing in particular that requires your screen to be totally available!
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any trustable e-wallet services? on: May 24, 2012, 08:32:15 AM
blockchain.info? Best part is you don't even need to trust them Smiley

How so? Do these guys have a special status in the BitCoin community?

(Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'm still learning about who is who!  Wink)
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: www.fiveminutecoin.com!What do you think about the new version? on: May 24, 2012, 08:09:00 AM
I don't get it... You have to stay in front of the open page for it to work? Doesn't seem to make sens to me...

Who would stare at a webpage for five minutes non-stop?

Am I missing something?

(The 'How It Works' button does nothing on my browser - Chrome)
37  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [ANN] 700,000 Cash Deposit Locations in Brazil, Russia, USA - BitInstant on: May 24, 2012, 05:39:21 AM
Sooooooo... Europe then?! (and France in particular  Grin)

What's the agenda like?

Grin

Essentially, yes. I believe Kluge still does it for free.

Ok thanks! I'll try and contact him...
