21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple releases 333 million more Tokens on: May 05, 2017, 12:27:21 PM
@God27. What is it with Ripple that you are so loyal to it? I do not mean that in a negative way, I am actually impressed that you have stuck to it in spite of all the criticism and the long periods of the falling price of XRP. Also we know the banks are taking a look at it but there was nothing so far except for a few press releases. Maybe you know something. Wink

I guess you can say I came into bitcoin late (2013) so I saw ripple with a fresh set of eyes. I was ok with it being centralized with the "plan" of decentralization.

But we still have a long and rough road ahead.

Cheers
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ripple overtake Etherium soon? on: May 05, 2017, 02:00:03 AM
Maybe both XRP and ETH will overtake BTC while duking it out! Cheesy

This will happen, but nobody knows when.  I'll take XRP in the end, but you gotta give it a few years.

23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple releases 333 million more Tokens on: April 03, 2017, 01:23:09 AM
Why do people like a coin that can just randomly put 333 million coins into circulation, raising the market cap substantially?
Crazy

where are you getting this information from? any links?

You can compare numbers usually on a weekly basis on ripple's xrp portal. The amount of xrp held by others went up that much since the last update.
https://ripple.com/xrp-portal/

I'm currently 100% invested in xrp. I know that's hilarious now, but just wait and see how funny it will be when it goes back to $0.002!

Because the price of xrp will never increase right? Right? Right?

I diversified a lil into GNT since this comment on this thread at the beginning of the year but still hold most in XRP.
I can't lie, it feels pretty good.

This story has hardly even started...
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple - Why is the value not higher with all it's features. on: March 30, 2017, 04:09:19 AM
xrp broke $0.01!

yes, i'm excited

Yes, likely they are pumping it up in preparation of flooding the market with another 1.4 billion ripple.

Ripple tokens available on the market as of December 25th 2016 = 36,003,596,482

Proof:

http://coinmarketcap.com/historical/20161225/

Ripple tokens available on the marker as of today = 37,388,960,792

Proof:

http://coinmarketcap.com/

That's 1,385,364,310 or almost 1.4 billion more tokens. Likely at current rate of release another 1.4 billion tokens will be released by July. At today's price that represents a little over $14,375,000 US for the 1.4 billion tokens. Or if they continue to be released at the same rate approximately $57,500,000 US for 2017. Not bad for something created virtually out of thin air. I wonder how deep the pockets of the gullible are. The efforts being put into pumping the token suggests a large release of tokens is imminent. The ripple team is really going to enjoy their summer at the public's expense.

This is a great point and nice analysis.

However, there are ppl out there that have been buying millions of xrp for the last 3 or 4 years at the price between $0.005 and $0.01.

They are in the green now so the decision on what to do is theirs.

I find it bullish that ripple sells/loans XRP at the rate of hundreds of millions per month at or around the current exchange rate.

But some ppl aren't here to grow their wealth but rather be FUD philanthropist.

WBB can hit 10k per second lol what's your point?

Just a nice update. I didn't know about WBB, that's nice.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Ledger Can Sustain 1000 Transactions per Second on: March 01, 2017, 06:19:06 PM
Your facts are correct OP but what is your point to spam message board?  THis fact is all over internet.

I wouldn't call one post in the alt coin section spamming the message board. Ripple itself isn't even all over the internet so I doubt this update is.

Ledger Can Sustain 1000 Transactions per Second

Before you reply, we all know your hatred of ripple and why you think it's just a waste of time and energy.

Cheers!
Crap as an investment, but may have other possible uses.

What do you think these uses might be?

One use case could be the interoperable ledger between several bank's own centralized ledgers without a digital asset when sending each other value more efficiently while cutting cost at the same time.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Ledger Can Sustain 1000 Transactions per Second on: March 01, 2017, 03:11:25 PM
I have these theory, I think he opens this thread to attract more interest in the project and dump his token and exit his position. I don't understand why people do trade this coin because it is against what crypto stands for. I can see another dogecoin in making here.

Nah, but I understand your theory, that's pretty much this site's history.

Ripple still has 62 billion tokens to sell at their discretion. I do have XRP's but not selling them in the foreseeable future.

Dogecoin lol

30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Positive news from Ripple (XRP) on: February 03, 2017, 07:23:37 AM
How to get some xrp, is it sold or being given away? Ripple looks like professional company, but with no mining or ico, how will they sell so much tokens without hurting previous investors.

Its pretty pointless for private investors to invest in the tokens. The goal is to keep them cheap and at a stable price.
To make money with Ripple, you would have to be an integrator, or offer some service which adds value employing the system.

Its also a becoming a more convenient and faster way than Bitcoin, to check out of exchanges like Poloniex.
Bitstamp for example accepts XRP, and its fast, compared to the ongoing BTC disaster with the ever more clogged blockchain.

I never heard that the goal was to "keep them cheap".

I understand it more as they sell(recently lend) hundreds of millions of XRP at or around market price per month for the last 2 to 3 years. These institutional buyers have lock up agreements.
So they have been selling billions for years and the price has been somewhat stable with a handful of pump and dumps compared to any other digital asset.

It seems like ripple will be just fine for a long time if XRP stays cheap. XRP appreciation and real world volume or even real use at all to cut cost on an open protocol for all people created by a private company would mark a historic milestone for the financial world.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XLM] Stellar - Decentralized trading platform on: February 02, 2017, 07:18:54 AM
Well just btc holders. We are doing the xrp one in the next round.

Hey Jed,
Is the next round for XRP holders going to be this summer?
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet for XRP on: February 02, 2017, 01:52:56 AM
Hi folks,

I would like to know if there is anything other than Gatehub to store XRP.

I just can't seem to grasp the Gatehub + gateway thing. Seems like a lot of hops and pain in the ass increasing hacking risks.

I'm fairly new to the altcoin world but why doesn't something like Jaxx have all the currencies into one app where you can have all your wallets for all your chosen currencies?

It's probably the nature of the beast, being a fairly new and obscure environment, but man is the learning curve steep and time consuming for a newbie.

Although I know, nothing ventured, nothing gained right? And most worthy things takes work, time and patience.

Still, it could use some user frindliness lol.

Thanks! Smiley

How does Bitstamp sound to you? Yea me too.

I think you will get more answers here. https://www.xrpchat.com
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP as currency on: January 28, 2017, 06:18:07 AM
@God27. Maybe they released that story about Chris Larsen's firing to save face. When a CEO leaves or is made to leave then clearly something is wrong in the company. Whatever happened the truth is hidden to save both the company's reputation and in this case Chris' career. Maybe you are right, Chris Larsen cannot handle the job anymore because he is only a start up guy.

Or while you're at it, maybe he is going to Stellar to work for Jed. Smiley

Is going from CEO to Chairman of the Board leaving the company?
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP as currency on: January 27, 2017, 03:59:37 AM
@God27. I do not buy it. It is looking like Ripple is a failed experiment. How many years has it been? All that time and nothing but a few tests made by the banks. I just learned that the CEO stepped down last year. If you read between the lines it usually means that he was not doing a good job. I speculate that the company behind Ripple will slowly step away from XRP. They have shown that by creating Interledger. XRP is a ponzi let us be honest. It is really one right now.

Chris Larsen is more of a startup guy. He had fun getting almost $100 million in funding. He is now chilling as the chairman of the board for ripple.
http://www.coindesk.com/ripple-ceo-steps-down-aol-president/

He has young kids and wants to spend time with them during their "tween years and beyond". Puberty is tough in America.
He is still very active in the financial world.
http://www.pymnts.com/news/b2b-payments/2017/ripple-ceo-chris-larsen-hsbc-tech-advisory-board-blockchain-it-fintech-innovation-biometrics-trade-finance/

However, I do understand why you feel the way you do. Ripple never said but XRP for investment purposes. I'm happy you haven't lost any money on ripple.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Ripple? on: January 26, 2017, 07:16:33 PM
Another thing is why does the ripple founder keep half of the coins , isn't that just too much.

Who Jed? His XRP's are in a lock up agreement based on volume. I think he deserves the 5 billion XRP or so that he still holds.

Ripple the company still holds over 63 billion XRP out of the 99,996,xxx,xxx.xx XRP. So they still hold over half. They have been selling between 200 million and 500 million monthly at about market price for lately.

I think the ripple founders thought they might not need a series c round of investors due to the value of their XRP reserves being it's own source of funding. We should know by Q4 of 2017 if they can solely survive on their own or will need another investment round to stay a float thus giving up more equity.

An IPO is so far off it shouldn't even be brought up. Maybe in the future some juggernaut  (Amazon,  Alphabet, Microsoft) will acquire ripple kinda like AOL did Netscape.

And why would anyone want to acquire them?  There's a lot of metrics to prove Ripple is pretty unpopular (notice the hostility they encounter on many crypto social media) and there's even been audits, from China CERT, which suggests it has terrible and unsafe code.

It's a weird group of people who had been working on, well whatever it is they're trying to accomplish, Ripple since 2004.  I don't think a dinosaur project is going to become viral anytime soon.

Also the people who left and went off to Stellar seem to have 1:1 code of Ripple, so Stellar right now would be a real bargain to purchase (if your thing is unsafe and insecure Ripple code lol).

The weird people you speak of have been working on the project since 2012...
I don't think they are trying to go "viral" lol. But alright, I see what you are saying, ripple will never be acquired because of the hostility they receive on social media. Now I know social media is the leading indicator for mergers and acquisitions. I learn something new everyday.

Here is a response to the China Cert from ripple' s Chief Cryptographer David Schwartz.

Like you've never seen anyone tried to cover their own ass when they get exposed?  Lol

BTW - Ripple started all the way back in 2004, by Fugger.

It's another vaporware dinosaur which latched onto Blockchain to sucker investors.

Here's a little explanation on how ripple 2012-present compares to the ripple you are talking about from 2004 by Theymos in the comments of this thread.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5gjg5f/worst_case_scenario_protocol_is_set_in_stone_no/

Here's a weak interview with Fugger about ripple currently.

Not about trading but can  someone well informed explain in layman term what Ripple does?

It seems that the banks love it.

Do you know what Stellar is?

i think lumens stellar coin is now not good to trading
this now stellar coin is bad price and still in low price not incraese
is good wait dev incraese development stellar

I totally agree, but I wanted to see if he knew what Stellar was.

But how about this.  If XRP ever goes up in price, I will guarantee XLM gets pumped right along side of it with no new news from the Stellar camp.

Didn't know about Stellar until 5 mins ago.

Now please enlighten me with your point Smiley

Believe me I have nothing enlightening for you, although I wish I did.  I was just starting with the Stellar question since a lot of people signed up for it when it came out.
One of the creators of ripple left and started Stellar, they are very alike.
