21  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-13] Goldman Sachs CEO: Bitcoin has bubble features on: November 15, 2017, 06:21:42 AM
The CEO really seems to be in 2 minds. He says he would not be surprised if it is successful and he also says that it has bubble features. We have to just wait and see if Goldman sets up a crypto desk. If it does, we will know what he really is thinking.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: US Inflation on: November 15, 2017, 06:10:09 AM
Inflation is not what a government indicator says. Inflation is what the man on the street experiences, when he takes his dollar to a store. The government cannot hide inflation for too long.
These kind of monetary policies will provide a boost to Bitcoin, once people realize it.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Damn, China started BAN/SLAP bintcoin miner on: November 15, 2017, 06:03:42 AM
Mining doesn't threaten the Chinese government. In fact, it gives them leverage over the Bitcoin network. It is a trump card that they can use once.
I don't think the Chinese government will seriously act against miners now. An increase in energy costs is only a tax, it will hurt the miners profitability but nobody will go out of business.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is mining the number 1 problem of Bitcoin right now? on: November 14, 2017, 07:10:35 PM
The question is very simple. Is the mining the number problem for Bitcoin right now and this that Bitcoin developers need to solve it asap?
Bitcoin mining failed to decentralised over the years and right now a single miner, Jihan Wu, control 50-60% of Bitcoin hashrate.
That give him the power to play games with the network like what happen with bcash hashrate flipping or with the previous segwit, scaling block drama.

Is there any solution so bitcoin mining to return to individual users or to give them a motive to start mining again?
Can this be done with a simple change of pow or it need more complex solutions like merge mining?

Mining is not the problem. Full blocks and high transaction fees are the problem. It is inevitable that in a free market, large players emerge who take advantage of economies of scale.
25  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-14]Bitcoin moving in on Monero Confidential Transactions (CT) on: November 14, 2017, 07:02:35 PM
If it is going to be implemented via a soft fork or protocol upgrade, I doubt if anybody will publicly voice support for it. Already bitcoin's pseudonymity causes issues for regulators. Anything enhancing anonymity won't find support from those favouring regulations.
26  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Cash BCH up to 4000 $ on: November 12, 2017, 04:14:55 PM
The amazing thing is that Bitcoin is still holding over $6000. That may be because there is a transaction backlog so people who want to sell can't get their coins to teh exchange.

I think the BCH crowd are hoping to equalise the prices - so both coins at say $4000 or $5000, and then wait and see what happens.

That won't be easy. Bitcoin Cash might have their backers but there will be inertia from the side of a lot of people to move from Bitcoin to Bitcoin Cash. It is the other trash like Litecoin which will be affected the most by Bitcoin Cash.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greed = Bearish, Long-Term-Investment = Bullish [Segwit2x cancellation] on: November 12, 2017, 11:42:52 AM
Instead of having a target for BTC, I think it is safe to have a price target for BTC + BCH. I think the combined value still has a chance of hitting $10K. You don't need to invest in any other altcoin when you have the chance to invest in Bitcoin Cash.
28  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: November 12, 2017, 11:39:15 AM
Looks like Australia are dominating the Women's Ashes as well. Ellyse Perry has scored a remarkable 218. Australia have a 168 run lead in the first innings. England will have to play very well to try and draw this match.

Yes Australia look unbeatable at the moment in the Women's Ashes, I can't see England drawing this match as Australia do have a great bowling attack so I think the Australian Women will win this match.

I hope this is a sign for good things to come when the Men battle it out for the Ashes in just under 2 weeks time. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming Ashes series as I think it will be a close fought series with Australia just winning.

England have played doggedly to draw the women's Ashes test. Although they were trailing by over 150 runs, they applied themselves and didn't lose wickets. They finished at 206/2 and batted 105 overs. You may play very well, but you can't win matches unless you have the ability to take 20 wickets.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners have full control of Bitcoin price. Nobody can trust a system like this. on: November 12, 2017, 11:36:02 AM
Miners moving to BCH does not increase BCH's price. It does nothing except increase the speed of blocks being generated (until the next difficulty adjustment). So them dumping BTC and moving to BCH just to profit does not make sense.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 126K unconfirmed transactions right now... on: November 11, 2017, 08:38:01 PM
https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions

126K unconfirmed transactions and climbing.   Huh Huh

What happens if it goes to 200k?  500k? what if the miners dip out and no transactions can even be confirmed?  Undecided

Roger Ver and his crew are spamming the network as it was predicted by anyone smart. There is an ongoing attack on bitcoin right now, with strong propaganda coming from the Roger Ver big blocker camp which consists on media propaganda while spamming the bitcoin network. Their goal is to trick the market into assuming that the market wanted bigger blocks, to make them think rejecting segwit2x was a mistake, so they will have more support next time. Of course outside the ongoing manipulation, there's no real support for big blocks. They will run out of money, and once this happens, BCash will dump and BTC will continue growing as usual. Get out of BCash while you can.

It does seem like a bit of a coincidence that the blocks are running full just when Bitcoin Cash is making a move up. I don't think spamming the network just to prove a point is sustainable. We will know the true story in a few days.
31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash - What is the future bitcoin on: November 11, 2017, 08:23:56 PM
Its just pumping because of speculators thinking this will take the place of bitcoin2x..

Once the dust settles things will move like they did before. I don't mind BCH reaching higher values though, more free cash for me.

I am not sure that Bitcoin Cash will crash after the dust settles down. Maybe the dust has settled down on Segwit 2x and that is why Bitcoin Cash is going up. It might not be a bad idea to hedge yourself between Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: I do not have the guts to buy bitcoins now. on: November 11, 2017, 08:14:06 PM
I don't get it . Why you don't have courage to buy bitcoin if you are fully aware of its potential .
Waiting for time inorder to buy bitcoin can be a bad idea according to the ongoing market trends . Bitcoin is rising and it is not going to stop , so whenever you will think of buying it it will have an even more higher price . So i suggest you to buy it , if not a bitcoin you can buy some of it . You can also invest like $2k on it .

$2k is not a small amount, especially for somebody in a developing country. That said, the sudden crash in price presents an opportunity to buy. Right now, people are disillusioned about there being no scaling solution. This will eventually change and the price will rise.

34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why do you people say miners have switched to bitcoin cash? on: November 11, 2017, 02:27:09 PM
specially since the number of unconfirmed transactions has grown a lot, i keep reading different people say bitcoin miners have switched over to bitcoin cash.

although that seems like something they may do because of the lower difficulty and the current ongoing pump, but i can not see any change in the way bitcoin blocks are mined! there is still the same time between the blocks as before with same ups and downs. the hashrate also looks the same!

so what is it  that i am missing here? how do you say they are switching?

There are no switching costs. So the decision to switch is purely driven by which is more profitable (price/current hashing power). So even if some miners haven't switched to Bitcoin Cash, they should...
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Bitcoin work for online shopping? on: November 11, 2017, 02:05:04 PM
Bitcoin's USP was quick confirmation times, no / low transaction fees and no chargebacks. That was what made it attractive to merchants. The first two are out of the window now. Thankfully, merchants accepting bitcoins will face no chargebacks.
36  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Is Meant To Bubble! on: November 11, 2017, 01:51:38 PM
Exactly, it's important to address the fact that bitcoin's supply is completely controlled by the actual code that is governing the entire thing and can't just be planted or whatever like tulips. That is the main difference between the tulip bubble and bitcoin.

Also, bitcoin actually has a usage. It'll never crash to even close to zero, even back in 2013.

The main thing to take away is, the scarcity of bitcoin makes it intrinsically valuable. And when demand grows, where else would you expect the price to go?

Correct, how can it be a bubble when you can define its usage. Be it a commodity or store of value of even currency. It has its usage. And once this so called bubble pops, it has still the ability to go put another bubble and then we can call it a bubble again. LOL. Its gonna be a vicious cycle. And then their is the scarcity factor as well, its getting difficult to mine bitcoin as time passes by, making the price go up because of scarcity unlike the tulip mania wherein everyone can plant and sell so they saturate the market easily but not in the case of bitcoin.

That is a dumb argument - if it has a usage, it cannot be a bubble? Tulip bulbs had their usage. Dot com companies had their usage. That didn't mean they weren't a bubble and their prices didn't crash.

Is participation on a rolling basis? I would like to continue in this campaign, if my name hasn't already been put down for the next month.

38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin back above $6k on: November 01, 2017, 11:26:34 PM
As of now the price of bitcoin is already 6500 dollars and im very happy because they already reach that price. For sure it will continue to increase and maybe we see the price of 7k dollars this month so if you have extra money invest now in bitcoin to make more profit.

It is almost at $6700 now. If you are talking about November then $7000 is very much possible. 2017 has been by far the best year for Bitcoin. If this trend continues into 2018, who knows where we could be?  Grin

I think today match between India vs new Zealand was one side match because of there no good batting and blowing on new Zealand side so this match was one side match.

You can include the fielding as well. New Zealand dropped important catches of Rohit Sharma, Dhawan and Kohli. When you drop the catches of all the major batsmen of the other team, you can't complain when they score 200+. Once India put up such a  massive total, the match was over.
40  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-01] Samsung Turned Its Smartphone Into a Bitcoin Mining Rig on: November 01, 2017, 11:19:44 PM
Samsung has turned 40 phones into a bitcoin mining rig.

In the age of digital technologies, everything develops at the speed of lightning. This is especially seen in devices, where even the coolest and newest device turns into something only a little bit better than a calculator. Most of us have our own device cemetery somewhere in the closet or elsewhere.

Therefore, it is quite a hot-button issue to turn them into something new, in order to make this junk useful again and maybe even profitable. That’s what Samsung did.

I doubt if they will be able to be successful in contributing any hashing power, using phones. When computers and GPUs have been rendered ineffective by ASICs, what can the processing power of old phones do?
