21  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: *** GHash.IO mining pool official page *** on: May 11, 2015, 11:09:59 AM

Over 2 days without finding a block while hashing at 10 P.

Then Ghash throws all but the last 3 hours of shares out the window.

Ghash is a terrible pool.

I kind of agree. I was with Ghash but switched to Eligius.

Eligius is a smaller pool more exposed to bad luck, but at least, they are transparent and the administrator is doing a very good job!

But Eligius is still a PPLNS pool.  PPLNS is bad for miners as it flushes their work every few hours.
22  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: IS GHASH.IO Cheating Miners? Paying LESS THAN 50% of expected? on: May 11, 2015, 10:40:39 AM

PPLNS is the worst idea in mining ever conceived. Ghash sucks.

24  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: May 08, 2015, 03:02:24 PM

Last time I looked one could buy an S5 and at checkout you could choose to have it shipped to the HashNet mine for hosting. Today that option is gone and checkout cart only offers shipping to my home. If I go to HashNet it says I can buy an S5 for $390 instead of $340.  That S5 has to hash for a month to recoup that extra $50.  I doubt you'd ever turn a profit at $390 plus hosting fees.

Is there any way to time the purchase of their mining contracts?  The enigmatic PACMiC seems so confusing.  Expecially when the profit is in idiotic "satoshis" that are not even a unit of measure.

It's sad to see what used to be a good company neglect it's customers. Sell out all your kit and then neglect customer service  Undecided

Its not true, I still get immediate and effective response to my support emails. In fact just this week i had a sp35 that kept locking up and I opened up ports to allow support to remotely access the box to troubleshoot it.

Time to respond to first email: 15min (9pm Israel time!). Next morning (9am Israel time) request for port access and logs.

It has always been so with them. You just have to be aware of the time zone and working week differences and be polite and patient and you will always get a good response in my experience.

It's true, SpondooliesTech does not honor their warranty. They ship DEAD and DEFECTIVE SP20Es and they refuse to RMA them. This company cannot be trusted.

I'll be selling their DOA SP20Es on eBay as Spare Parts because I'll never get anything from this unethical company.
26  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: April 23, 2015, 05:30:42 PM
We take pride of the quality of our units and service yet even our units have their limit, just like any other electronic device.
Our customer service has RMA several units as I'm sure the forum members can verify, however we cannot cover damages that are caused by improper maintenance.
Our team will continue to work with you as best they can to help you out and will be happy to continue doing so in the future.

Wow!!! What an unbelievable claim. I bought 15 SP20Es and I've been trying for over 2 months to get tech support. All I ever get is the run around from Barbara. I have no reason to believe that tech support even exists at Spondoolies-Tech. I wrote detailed emails explaining what I tried. Barbara keeps telling me I have to open a port and let you Skype me because I have 2 DOA SP20Es that have never booted into the user interface. Just what will letting you snoop around my PC tell you about a network device that cannot be recognized by my network Huh

When the 15 SP20Es arrived 6 of them would not hash. I found a cryptic FAQ called "MY UNIT IS NOT RESPONDING AFTER A FIRMWARE UPGRADE. HOW DO I RECOVER IT?" Even though these 6 SP20Es had never booted into their user interface and were not recognized by my network I gave it a try any way. I had to go to 3 shops to find this microSDcard with reader in the photography section and bought it for $19. I installed the image and managed to get 4 of the SP20Es running, although not fully. E.g., some are missing a board "or something" as the ASIC Stats report says:

Gadi, Why don't you or someone at SP answer me Huh
I have not received one answer to any of my questions or my numerous emails to your company. I provided the PO numbers so you know I'm the one that bought 15 SP20Es directly from SP and have been contacting you for months. It appears you've gone out of business.

Hi Miasma,

The last email correspondence with you that I could find in our system is dated March 31 where Barbara offered to RMA the units but you have not responded.
If you have other tickets open please share them either here or via PM.

I also understand that you were asked multiple times to contact the support team via Skype and were also offered for them to contact you. The tech support team is the only one who can diagnose the unit thoroughly. Were they able to get in touch with you?

Gadi
Gadi, I do NOT call this an offer to RMA your DOA products.

Dear Miasma,
If our engineers approve RMA then we will pay for shipment and replacement of the machines. If you do not wish to speak with our engineers then you can ship the machines back to us for inspection and diagnosis.
If the machines are defective we will pay for shipment and replacement/repair. However, if we find that the machines work in our lab we will charge you for the shipments and the diagnostic work. Shipment is $119 per machine each way. Diagnosis is $95 per machine.
I can either arrange a session with the engineer or send you shipping instructions. Please let me know which.
Regards,
Barbara

Why is it impossible for you people to answer a single question I've ever asked Huh
What will you get from Skyping me if your two SP20Es are DEAD and cannot nor have they ever been detected by my network Huh
How will you communicate with your DEAD products Huh
Why not a Ouija board instead of Skype Huh
I've been trying to get through to you people for months. You want to call me then call me. You have my contact info.

I've read your documentaion and it says nothing about the error messages I've asked about. I have several SP20Es with dead boards.

Why did you say you did a successful burn-in test on all 15 of my SP20Es and so many are defective. In fact, not a single one of them meets your advertised performance spec.

Is there a preferred difficulty for mining in your solo pool with AntMiner S5s Huh
Is there any reason to use the extranonce subscription #xnsub Huh

Looks like someone hit blockchain lottery? Am I reading that correct? Unfortunately it wasn't me.

If that is correct on the site. 12 TH hit a block in the first 3 days. Pretty damn lucky. I started 2 hours ago and think I may switch back.

Yes, NiceHash solo mining Bitcoin pool found it's first block Wink

The happy user already said thanks and sent us the print-screen of his/her lucky AntMiner S3:

Why would a solo miner need a pool Huh

What does that even mean, solo mining pool Huh

Dear Ed,
We have reviewed your situation (DOA board was DOA) and would like to resolve the issue with your machine by sending you a fully tested SP20. This will save going back and forth (886hrs) about the different parts.

I know you already sent the management board. Please ship the machine back to us at our cost and we will send you a new machine.

I just emailed Barbara and asked about warranty - i hadn't thought to ask, but well done. Good question.

Answered here -

Dear Edgar,
Our warranty only applies to the customer who purchased the machine from us. If someone buys the machine from you our warranty does not apply to that person. This is stated in our Terms of Sale.

Anyone know why S5s don't failover from WestHash.com when its profitability drops below the pw parameter Huh

Code:
stratum.WestHash.com:3334#xnsub
worker address
p=0.0113
Mine seems to work fine and fails over from nicehash.com when it drops below the p= value. Which cgminer version are you using? Im running 4.9.0
" [2015-04-04 19:36:15] pool 0 JSON stratum auth failed: [
   24,
"High price. No order to work on.",
   null
]"

I believe I have the latest FW update (Wed Jan 7 14:05:02 CST 2015) in all my S5s and they run 4.8.0 cgminer. I don't know how to get it to run 4.9 but 4.8 has extranonce support.

If WestHash is paying below my p-value when I cold boot it runs pool 2 fine. Then later if WestHash pays higher than p it switches. But, when the payout drops below p it stops mining and does not failover to pool 2. The only way I can get it to hash again is to manually edit pool 2 to be pool 1. My SP20s failover whenever pool1 is dead and swicth back to pool 1 when it goes live. Hopefully bitmain will fix the bug soon.

Badly designed firmware. S4s do the same.

Thx, I was afraid of that. Guess they're too busy sweeping tombs to revise it  Grin

Be nice if they'd add a power-time profile feature like the SP20s have to work with Time-Of-Use electric metering.

Anyone have an estimate of what the annualized yield of running a DRK masternode is Huh

Figure anywhere from 70 to 90 MN payments in the year.  Reward is going to be increasing.. But I'd average around 2.2 Drk.  2*70=140drk on low and 180drk on the high.  That's around 800 to 1000 bucks at current price.

So, on the order of 16% a year. That's respectable. Problem is the year part.  Hmm, definitely gonna have to consider this.

[...] If my wallet was not corrupted by 0.10.0 I would definitely have gone back to an earlier version.

This is the first time you mention your wallet.dat got corrupted. Maybe a general HDD problem?

maybe when he transfer file from usb to an hdd, while the core is still running(even simply copy-paste), happened to me once

I never transferred my wallet to a usb. My guess is that my pc was rebooted while 0.10.0 was running.

Looks like the developers have reverted v1.2.0

Deposits and withdrawals will be back online at cryptsy shortly after a chain resync

Do you think the crptsy eMark wallet will open any time soon Huh

There was a blackout in my house.

Now when I go to myminer.io I cant open my SP20 control page.

I try
 ssh root@192.168.1.105

I use the password root and I get the message  "Permission denied, please try again."

But when I get to westhash web page I can see my miner is working.

what can I do to recover my miner management without restarting it?

thanks

Just enter its IP address as the URl for your browser and the SP20 User Interface will open. If you do not know its IP address then downlaod the free utility Advanced IP Scanner and it will list all network devices.
