21  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: August 05, 2017, 12:15:35 AM
Hi, Bitfinex announced on July 27 that all BTC wallet balances will receive BCH and that margin positions will be ignored. This opened an arbitrage opportunity. I positioned myself in order to take advantage of this opportunity, which cost me time, fees, interests and risk exposure. Bitfinex was aware of this situation (they saw the BTC interest rise to 0.75% / day and they saw the BTC shorts swelling) and happily collected the resulting trading fees and their share of the interest. Yet, after the fork, they changed the rules and didn't credit any BCH to those who opened these shorts.
Therefore, I intend to sue Bitfinex. If anybody is in the same position or if anybody can recommend a competent lawyer, please drop me a PM.

Hi, when will you credit the Bitcoin Cash according to the BTC balance on August 1st?

BTC38 is a weird site... they require you to login with facebook, so I made a burner the one time I used them. I sent a few of an altcoin just to test withdraws but I didn't even meet the minimum threshold to withdraw. I had like .5 ltc but the minimum was 1 ltc to withdraw.

I would recommend using other sites unless you really want to trade on a Chinese exchange and have enough capital to justify doing business there. The withdraws can take a long time too, 1-2 weeks. I think there was a manditory waiting period for withdraws but i forget how long, might be 15 days.

Also, weirdly, btc38 credits you 101% of your deposit amount per currency and it takes several hours to appear after it deposits which leads me to believe they trade with your deposit to make a profit before allowing you to access it.

Weird stuff.

The 101% is just cosmetic. If you withdraw you only get 99%. So, after one deposit and withdrawal you get 1.01 * 0.99 = 0.9999 of your initial deposit back. So, the bottom line is: There is an effective 0.01% withdrawal fee.

Can someone at Kraken please push Ticket #409290?
Fidor payments are not credited (old customer / fully verified)

For some reasons, Fidor-Fidor-SEPA deposits take several hours lately. Not long ago it used to be minutes. Any comments as to why this changed, Dargo?

And now for something completely different!

Not that I don't enjoy posts from newcomers posting their ticket #. And I'm also terribly sorry for spamming in your ticket bump thread. Wink

Anyway, I'm pleased Kraken is looking into setting up dynamic withdrawal fees for crypto coins. Might I suggest you look into Litecoin fees ASAP? 0.02 LTC is a bit high at today's prices, don't you think?

Keep up the good work! Cheers! Smiley
and how about btc withdrawal fee? it is 0.0025 BTC now O.ô Cheesy
A priority setting would be nice. highpriority -> 0.0025BTC,  low priority -> 0.0005BTC

The BTC withdrawal fee should drop again pretty soon. We are going to batch transactions, which will take a few minutes longer, but hopefully we should be able to get the fee down to around 0.001 this way.

Hi Dargo, could you please explain why Kraken charges 20mLTC for LTC withdrawals? 20mLTC are completely detached from real-world network fees (by at least a factor of 20). So, either this is a mistake or an attempted rip off in the wake of high BTC fees.

Just received an email from Kraken that LTC withdrawal fee is reduced to 0.001 LTC. So, it seems it was just a mistake. Kudos for the prompt correction!

27  Economy / Exchanges / Re: **CEX.IO Bitcoin Exchange ** Buy Bitcoins with Cards in iOS / Android App*** on: June 07, 2017, 11:31:20 PM
At the first sight, cex.io is a nice place, providing full stack of services like exchange, trading, margin trading and, what is very much sought after, a convenient way to withdraw fiat funds to a banking card with a fee as low as $3.80.

What's even better, they seem to have an incredibly good BTC/USD rate at their exchange!
At the time of writing:
cex.io 2732.9479
kraken 2650.010
btc-e 2626.001
At times the difference reaches 10%, isn't there a way to do arbitrage even with all the fees you have to pay? Easy money.

Well, not really. Remember the "too good to be true" principle?

It happens to be more like a flytrap for inexperienced people who decided they want to participate in cryptocurrency hype.

You deposit bitcoins there, sell them for a higher price than you bought them for, now time to cash out, right?

Now, to make a withdrawal, first you need to complete the verififcation of your payment card to send the money to. Okay, fine - KYC/AML process. But this takes several days.
Then there is a daily limit of $500 for the withdrawal (and a monthly limit of $2000), unless you do the verification of your personal details. Maybe some time ago this verification was being done quicker, but now this takes multiple weeks.

Then, the main thing people tends to not notice because they don't read terms of use - these terms of use set the timeframe for fiat withdrawal as up to 1 month(!!). There is a review on trustpilot where someone had to wait for at least 38 days, while bombarding cex.io support with messages. This is an unreasonable delay, a magnitude greater than the other places (e.g. 72 hours on btc-e).

A cherry on a cake - they charge you storage fees for currency in your account! Wat? Who else does this? I don't know.
For example, if you exchanged BTC for USD there, you will be charged 2 USD per day. Yeah, charged every day you wait for payment card verification or personal details verification, every day you wait for fiat withdrawal to complete.

I'm not affiliated with any competitors of cex.io, I just don't like businesses treating their customers as idiots. Read the reviews on Trustpilot, it is full of funny stories about withdrawal or deposit, current rating of cex.io is 4.1 out of 10 (and it was 4.6 just a week ago or so).

Two remarks:
1. I don't think that the high BTC/USD rate is "a flytrap for inexperienced people who decided they want to participate in cryptocurrency hype". Only people who already have BTC can potentially profit from a high BTC/USD rate. People that are new to the crypto currency space first have to buy, and for this a high BTC/USD rate is disadvantageous. So, the high BTC/USD rate is a consequence of the withdrawal delays (and not vice versa).
2. Wherefrom do you have the information regarding the storage fees? I never was charged such fees.

On May 21st I made a SEPA withdrawal. The money still hasn't arrived. Meanwhile I wrote two emails to the customer support (one on Thursday and one yesterday) asking why my withdrawal isn't processed. Up to now, I did not receive any reply. That's why I now bring it up on this forum. I will update here, as soon as I receive my money or at least an explanation regarding the delay.

Update:
The support meanwhile became responsive again. They told me that I still have to "wait awhile". According to support, the reason for the delay are KYC/AML rules. Since they were unable to provide an ETA, I decided to cancel my withdrawal. The cancellation was done within 24h. Crypto withdrawals work fine.

you withdrew via crypto successfully?

Yes, I withdrew BTC yesterday and ETH on Sunday without problems. Which currencies don't work for you?

Ysell - Good job mate.

X68N - Thank you for that. I will wait for yobit.net to reply and then we can update the registration with the payment.

Regarding the crowdfunding, the first thing we need to think about is how much we need to raise to take Anoncoin forward as the best Altcoin.

Thanks Cryptoslave & Machico

It would probably add to the strength and backing of the coin if some of the main developers were to give their support of the crowd funding and provide some indicators of deliverables they themselves prioritise as essential for the coin's prosperity. We could get this via irc2p, but for the initial purpose of authenticity, most people would prefer to read it first hand here. When crowd funding, I propose a seperate crowd fund for each deliverable? This way, if a developer were to inform us of a crucial element and put forward zerocoin, and another were to prioritise marketing we could put our money where we,  as investors want results.

I agree ysell.

CS - After the Yobit listing request, can you list your priorities at the moment and future deliverables so we can start planing a strategy to move forward.
To developers
Can I also add that It would be advantageous to put the costings for what you feel would be a proportionate financial goal for each deliverable. We all have to earn to put food on the table, pay bills etc so it's only fair that you are paid for the amount of days, weeks or months this will take to implement.  It is understandable that you would choose paid work over non paid ANC work, so I think it's only fair that you are provided with appropriate donations for your ANC efforts.

I know it's a weekend and there's not going to be lots of chat happening on #Anoncoin, but there are only 5 members logged in at the moment. Could someone tell me all the usernames of developers on irc2p so that I can point them to this discussion? I guess their usernames maybe different on irc2p.  Thanks

CS has mentioned their names on here but as you said, they might have different names on irc2p.

Gnosis
lunokhod
Meeh
Ssuag

I was logged into the wrong network. All sorted now. Thanks

Do they use the same name?

Yes. The feedback about crowdfunding was extremely positive. There are some complexities that my brain cannont comprehend at this point in the night. It will take 2-3 developers to complete the Zerocoin element. If we crowdfund one component part of zerocoin for example "RPC create spend", this part interacts with "RPC get seeding spend proofs", it will likely need changing later on, test more and on it goes. Therefore there is no easy way of crowdfunding component parts as each part interacts with another, thus there are interchangable cogs to get the zerocoin system moving, each involving more than one developer continually configuring and testing collaboratively to produce a Zerocoin solution. I am not so clued up on crowd funding, so how could this sort of development be crowdfunded?

Machico - rather than filling up the forum pages with our crowdfunding drafts, could we possibly PM each other and post a final draft that others can analyse and feedback on. I'm just a bit concerned about filling the forum's with too much noise. I've told the guys on irc2p that I would be sending our draft proposals for checking in a few weeks. I've never been so excited about Anoncoin.

Hi ysell, machico, and others,
as an anoncoin holder I appreciate your efforts. But I wonder:
a) how do you intend to incentivize the crowdfunders to spend money on this project. I mean, there are no anoncoins available that could be distributed to them in return for the money they provide (like in an ICO).
b) to my understanding, most of the Anoncoin developers are anonymous and intend to stay so. How would you make sure that they don't take the money and then simply disappear. (If I remember right, it happened before that Anoncoin was pumped by announcing Zerocoin and then the responsible developer suddenly never was seen again.)
c) most of the Anoncoin developers probably hold a considerable stack of Anoncoin. Given that currently there's no real anonymous currency (most ZEC transactions use t-addresses, most Monero transactions turned out to be linkable), they could make a killing by implementing Zerocoin. So, the financial incentive is alread there. The fact that there's still no Zerocoin suggests that the developers simply are not able to implement it. For this reason, an additional financial incentive probably won't have much of an effect.

More than 18 hours ago I made an ETH withdrawal. It is still stuck. Customer service turned unresponsive after an initial "We have escalated this issue to CEX.IO supervisor ..". So, up to now I did not receive my ETH and I did not receive any explanation as to why my ETH are withheld. That's why I now bring up this issue on this forum. I will update here, as soon as the withdrawal is processed or a decent explanation is given.

ETH/USD Margin Trading Launched on CEX.IO

We are pleased to announce ETH/USD margin trading on CEX.IO, following numerous requests from our users. This is the fourth pair for trading with 1:2 and 1:3 leverage on the exchange, after BTC/USD, BTC/EUR and ETH/BTC.

Margin trading is a perfect way to trade more than you’d be able to trade using your funds only, and that can result in a higher profit. Trading with leverage on our exchange is easy and intuitive. Therefore, not only traders can take advantage of it, but also cryptocurrency beginners.

To trade with leverage, simply proceed to Trade Page, select the trading pair (ETH/USD, BTC/USD, BTC/EUR, ETH/BTC) and click on the Margin Trading tab, as shown on the screenshot below.

I appreciate your margin trading facility. Unfortunately, it is really awkward to use. Here are some points of criticism:
1. No settle functionality.
2. Positions can only be opened via market orders. (Limit orders cannot be used.)
3. Positions can only be closed as a whole (no partial closing). For example, when having a long position, a margin sell will result in a second open (short) position, instead of (partially) cancelling the existing open long position.
4. Postions can only be closed via market orders. This, in combination with the fact that a position must be closed as a whole with one order, renders a closure often extremely expensive due to slippage.
5. (Accidentally) clicking the close button immediately results in a full closure of the position. There is no warning or confirmation diaglog.

Please have a look at how margin trading is done with Kraken!

Hi,
I just want to remark that, despite ZCash, there still might be a gap in the market of privacy oriented crypto currencies that potentially could be filled by AnonCoin, if it came off with a Zerocoin implementation similar to ZCash. In ZCash, z-addresses are not obligatory and, worse, their use is more expensive than the ues of t-addresses. It might turn out that this circumstance will limit the anonymity of ZCash in practice. If anoncoin would only allow z-addresses it would have an advantage privacy-wise compared to ZCash.

I am going towards using them as an exchange now after yesterdays news of a major exchange going down for hours. They just shut their doors where users weren't able to login into their accounts and access their funds.
I think more and more people will go to this exchange now from that episode.
Not so sure whether this one is the right one. Raising the fee for SEPA withdrawals from one day to another to a staggering 50 EUR without any comment means that they either don't want withdrawals (maybe because of liquidity problems) or they simply try to squeeze the hell out of their customers. In any case not really encouraging.

i want to ask is true or not
is issue bitfinex attack war hacker and lost gone bitcoin
Yes, there are multiple threads here and on reddit. Bitfinex appears to have lost just under 120kBTC due to some kind of hack. Trading has been halted, and the site has been taken offline. According to a bitfinex employee, the incident is under investigation.
Where do you have this number (120k BTC) from?
