21  Economy / Speculation / Re: And now - the sucker's rally on: April 19, 2013, 07:53:05 PM
The "crash" looks like a minor speed bump  when you zoom out a bit:

http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/mtgoxUSD#igWeeklyztgSzm1g10zm2g25zl
I would say zoom out a little bit, think about months/years not days, and you will see that we could very well still be at A. This is still very early adopter stage, as we are talking about a global techology with possibly huge adoption potential.

Just compare this with apple and the iOS tsunami for example. Are we at the stage where everyone and their mother has BTC, everyone talks about it to death, all hedge funds invest in it and guarantee unlimited growth (we're past this for AAPL and price has now crashed)? Or are we still at a stage where people discover this, journalists still scrambling to understand it, most of your friends don't know about it, and very few mothers own BTC? If you think about all the money in circulation globally, and a 'market share' for BTC, I am guessing we are well under 1%, probably a few decimals from that? Certainly a lot less that when apple market share when stock was trading at $15.

Of course BTC is a game changer, the first global currency, so hard to compare with a generic chart which probably applied to pets.com and other high branding-low innovation startups.

Of course this is really speculation land, no one can predict world events that could really alter the price, or whether big money (hedge funds etc) will decide to get on board or fight this to the ground.

THIS!!!

I like these thoughts.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Poll] Where are we in the Investor's Emotion Cycle? on: April 19, 2013, 07:31:21 PM
Agreed. I am feeling relief coupled with a bit of anxiety as my expendable funds are tied up in a banking transaction right now.
23  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are people getting greedy again so soon?? on: April 19, 2013, 07:27:13 PM
Its a bounce just wait for it to go back down

The more I learn about BTC the more sarcasm I hear in posts like this
24  Economy / Speculation / Re: The only thing more volatile than BTC are the opinions in this forum on: April 19, 2013, 06:42:09 AM
I was thinking those exact words earlier today. Tongue

Just like everything else to do with bitcoin, everyone is right and everyone is wrong; everyone wins and everyone loses(but mostly wins).

Still love the place, though.  Cheesy
25  Economy / Speculation / Re: Only up from here ;) on: April 18, 2013, 08:39:43 PM
If these legal problems spread. starting in Poland.
About problems to withdraw money, i not see only up from here.
But a huge slide down.

p2p will save the day!

Same for me..-.-

I won't use MtGox again that's for sure....

Local p2p is looking better every day, though Gox never looked very good.
27  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who's lost money? Some people must have on: April 18, 2013, 07:23:53 AM
Bought in the first time at $4....$4!!!  Ignorantly used up all of those and bought in again when it was rising at about $90.  Cashed out and bought in again at $220.*Doh!*

omg, if buying in means buying btc to spend, then I've spent HUNDREDS of bitcoins that I bought for between 2 and 13 dollars on shit I didn't really need.

i try really hard not to think about it

If you look at it that way, then yeah, I have lost more than I care to think of.  The original $4 coins were to hold and then I got lazy and used them for electronic things having no clue what was going to happen later. Roll Eyes
28  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: April 18, 2013, 06:30:57 AM
After being up to my eyes in charts/graphs/forum thread and on the floor itself nearly 24/7, I decided to run to the store and fetch some vittles.... I was back in the forums and in this thread at 6:24.

I know it's stressful, but I don't think there is anything to worry about.

When the money shows up in my bank account, I am just going to invest in something safe like a tax-free Roth IRA or the S&P market... -.-
29  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: April 18, 2013, 06:14:13 AM
Just checked my email, still nothing(not that it's needed by now, but still...).
30  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: April 18, 2013, 06:11:01 AM
People are withdrawing bitcoin fine but what about usd?

"""We are asking users to please wait for transactions and ACH verification to be processed before contacting support."""

https://twitter.com/bitfloor

If i was a thief i wouldnt give support after i took the money! So it looks like they were just fucked over by their bank and they are taking steps to get peoples funds back while they search for alternatives or consider just calling it quits. ( i could be wrong but..)

I know we are talking about peoples' money here, and it's easy to be skeptical, but maybe they are just swamped and under pressure and need some time to sort, prepare, try to survive, so they are asking people to be courteous and give em a chance before hitting them with unecessary emails.

The inconveniently timed email is a bit sketch, but maybe not.  It would be interesting to know who got the emails first and what they had in their accounts.

31  Economy / Speculation / Re: Ladies and Gentlemen: This is what a green candlestick looks like on: April 18, 2013, 05:48:15 AM
Sighs of relief is what the big candlestick fight was all about, eh?

Happy that you're happy.  Cool
32  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: April 18, 2013, 01:14:48 AM

Screw paypal. (And Bitfloor's bank). Long live bitcoin!

Fucking. This.
33  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfloor issues? on: April 17, 2013, 11:00:36 PM

Banks freeze whatever accounts they want to, this isn't the first time this has happened and it isn't the last. Basing your judgement of Roman's level of competence on his bank account being frozen shows pretty clearly that you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

[/quote]

Wait, it isn't frozen though...right?  It's just being shut down in a few days....

So we're good.... yeah?

Love me some Bitfloor. Sad

Edit:  wtf? Tongue
34  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hope this isn't out of place: Anyone else having issues with Bitfloor? on: April 17, 2013, 07:32:14 PM
After a search, I found a thread that I couldn't find before.  Apparently I wasn't utsf properly.

Tried to delete this post but it won't let me.  Forum mods, feel free.
35  Economy / Service Discussion / Hope this isn't out of place: Anyone else having issues with Bitfloor? on: April 17, 2013, 05:43:03 PM
I love bitfloor.  These past few days have been weird though.
I keep getting unresponsive script warnings when I have the market data page up and the lag has been so bad that I have to place blind orders or none at all.  Most of the time the pages won't even load fully(some times not at all).

I have tried to reconfigure my browser settings to no avail.

It only happens with bitfloor.  Other exchanges, live data charts and freaky German prons all seem to load with no problem.  The bitfloor live data chart fails to connect or is shortly kicked off directly after connecting.

Anyone else?
Ways to fix or word from the bitfloor team?

Thanks in advance.
36  Economy / Speculation / Re: Speculation contest - Who's the best with predictions? on: April 17, 2013, 05:32:51 PM
Well I can tell you who is definitely the worst.  Proudhon.  He screams crash every day for like a year through every rally.  He was finally "right", but I hesitate to say "right" because if he screamed it long enough he was bound to be right eventually.

nobody has consistently predicted the market more than flipping a coin. proudhon is at least consistently wrong.

*chuckle*

I predict this bear pattern will continue till we level at 30.  Hopefully I am wrong and it will go back up and remain stable, but either way, I win. Cool
37  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mentor Wanted on: April 17, 2013, 03:41:23 PM

That's what I find to be the toughest aspect of daytrading bitcoins. It's a 24/7 currency. You can't force opportunity, it has to come to you... and sometimes the major breakouts occur when you're sleeping in the night.....you have to get out by watching the prices yourself.

This is why some of our eyes are burning like the seventh layer of hell right now.
But we're still reading! Cheesy
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: the crash is over? on: April 17, 2013, 09:12:09 AM
Speculating....keeps you up at night.  Roll Eyes

I put together here, a simplified version of info that can be found around the net. It explains the important parts of Eliiot Wave Theory (used by many here) and delves into the use of Fibonacci retracements to determine likely targets.
https://community.bitfinex.com/showthread.php/45-Elliot-waves-to-Fibonacci

I wrote about trend lines and how to trade using them here:
https://community.bitfinex.com/showthread.php/171-Trend-Line-Analysis

You can also check out Goomboo's Journal here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=60501.0

These are all beginner oriented threads for three different but useful types of market analysis.

Thank you so much.  I love this forum.  Kiss
40  Economy / Speculation / Re: I predict the bottom to be $20 (price right now $72) on: April 16, 2013, 08:15:42 PM
So everytime a bubble pops it goes exactly the same way as the bubble before? What is this physical law called?

No of course not. But we're in a crash right now and it's logical to compare it to the other major crash.

We are not out of the woods yet. Third correction coming according to my math.

Been trying to study the first bubble lately but having trouble since google will only give me results on this latest pop.
However, I don't think the past is an accurate indicator of the future as far as BTC goes, as conditions are not exactly the same.  Never hurts to look at everything, though!
The live Gox data platform looks bearish again.
