22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: E-bay ,paypal on: January 07, 2014, 10:56:12 PM

I would like the help of the community to turn paypal and ebay into bitcoin friendly environments .

Good luck.  I'm sure you can convince Paypal to further bitcoin adoption and kill their own business as a result.
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the largest BTC purchase to date? on: January 07, 2014, 09:44:07 PM

How the heck can you infer that? He was an early adopter. What is wrong with that exactly? "Pretty much clear such large amounts of BTC are very likely to have been obtained through not legal methods". What total unfounded nonsense. Show us some proof of his wrongdoing or shut up.

Why do you infer that something that is not legal is necessarily "wrongdoing"?
24  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What is your average time to receive wire payment from Mt GOX in USA? on: January 07, 2014, 07:06:40 PM
Their is growing speculation that mtgox is in some kind of trouble,

they had rough times last year I would be careful how much you put in.

They are probably making millions in commissions every week or two, so I figure the longer they are around, the more solid they are. I moved all of my funds out of there last year when their Dwolla acct got seized but just put some more BTC in there to trade with.

Then it immediately crashed.

Then it creeped back up to almost what I paid for it...

Then it immediately crashed.

Then it creeped back up to almost what I paid for it...

Now it appears to be crashing again.

Ay yi yi.  I am beginning to think this is all just a grand conspiracy to screw with me.

You bought an asset/currency/instrument that has a very clear history of such volatility.  Why are you so surprised and taking it personally?   This is what you signed up for.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs. Paypal - and PayPal is getting sued. on: January 07, 2014, 03:48:34 PM
I'm not sure if I believe this story because you say your attorney was incredulous that you recorded a phone call. In most states, it is totally legal to record a call, as long as at least one party (you in this case) is aware it is being recorded.

If your attorney doesn't know that, he is a horribly attorney or else this story just isn't true.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will bitcoins be worth if the dollar crashes? on: January 02, 2014, 05:42:03 AM
And the dollar won't collapse anytime soon.  The poor and middle class will be robbed even more to pay the bills of the .1% before the dollar really meets its maker.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will bitcoins be worth if the dollar crashes? on: January 02, 2014, 05:40:08 AM
Is it possible the fed knows the dollar will crash before bitcoin is widely accepted through society which is why they are making no effort to stop bitcoin?

Invalid premise.  They are doing a lot to slow down and stop bitcoin and they will continue doing so.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "BTC Is backed by nothing while the USD is backed by 'full faith' of US gov't" on: January 02, 2014, 05:38:40 AM
In it's entire history I'm not aware of the dollar ever collapsing in value.

Unlike 3rd world countries, the US has a very good track record in keeping the value of it's currency.

Huh?  The USD has lost something like 97% of its purchasing power since it was introduced.
30  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "BTC Is backed by nothing while the USD is backed by 'full faith' of US gov't" on: January 02, 2014, 05:36:59 AM
Bottom line is USD is ultimately backed by force, by guns.

The utility of the US dollar as being used as a currency is backed by the US gov't, but not the value of the currency.  What is the use of being able to legally spend the USD if it isn't worth anything?   People discount the effect of inflation on their money, and especially the possible hypter-inflation.

And of course BTC doesn't need to be backed by anyone to be used, although certainly it may get to the point where it is illegal to transact with it.  That will slow it down of course but won't stop it.

31  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin In India Under attack :- global community please help on: January 01, 2014, 06:06:02 PM
Yes India sounds like a crappy place to live but most everywhere else is pretty bad too.  There are certainly some countries that are better than others though.  But this type of oppression is the only thing that can effectively kill the growth of bitcoin around the world and it probably will.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is how I felt when I made a bitcoin payment (illustration) on: January 01, 2014, 05:58:49 PM
They don't look too happy to do their first bitcoin transaction.

Your post sounds like an advertisement for this software and I doubt it works as advertised.  Potential buyers beware.
34  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Wheres the best place to sell btc for usd$ that withdrawals to my bank account? on: January 01, 2014, 03:37:26 PM
Conbase are a bunch of crooks and you will find out soon enough if you use them.
35  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: E-bay closed one of my bitcoin ads on: January 01, 2014, 03:33:32 PM
Not surprising at all...they have been doing this for months and they will close your acct and your Paypal acct and ban you for life if they feel like it.  They don't like crypto.
36  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What would be the safest method to buy btc from people instead of exchanges? on: January 01, 2014, 02:52:28 PM
You kind of answered your own questions...localbitcoins and then bring cash and meet in a safe, public place and give them the money and get the bitcoin..simple.

You will probably pay more than the exchange rate though. If you are looking to find BTC to buy with cash and pay below market value, then that isn't easy...can be done, but it's hit or miss.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best encryption for wallet.dat storage and backup? on: December 24, 2013, 04:47:43 PM
Truecrypt is closed source, no independent source has reviewed the code.

'nuff said.

Not true. Matthew Green (you can find him on Twitter), has done a full audit, not sure if he's published results yet.

an audit done by 1 person idoesnt carry the same credability  as open source code that can be examined by everyone in the world who feels like having a look to see how it works

not saying anything about Matthews credibility but hes still just 1 person so  theres always the channce he missed something someone else might spot or even found something and been bribed to leave it  out of the report

cant trust anything after the snowden scandal imo so id still use trucrypt but use it with a couple of other precautionary  measures as well

Yes I figure that the NSA could have a backdoor in that or in PGP but less likely to have one in both of course...possible but just trying to cut down the odds of that.

38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This girl is really dedicated to bitcoin... on: December 24, 2013, 09:27:57 AM
