I have this Bitmain Power Supply Unit

and I ordered this Power cord

Thanks again

Hello
I am going to have electrician come in this weekend to get new 220 v connection for my S9.
I am wondering if this particular outlet is good:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Eaton-30-Amp-250-Volt-6-30R-Power-Receptacle-5700N/206469352?cm_mmc=Shopping%7cVF%7cG%7c0%7cG-VF-PLA%7c&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkKPVBRDtARIsAA2CG6Fh219jITXd27rwN7H9q8c0wQ9DGaP3qRvugO7xdPLbZJIRjBJuYVAaAiaOEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CIqm5YeH7dkCFYt9AQodpVoPrg

Any other recommendations are appreciated.

Also please let me know if its ok to use old circuit breaker which was used for Electric range.

Thanks
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 52 Million BTC shorts since the open of the US marked today on: March 13, 2018, 07:48:43 PM
They can short 100s of bitcoins without owning a single bitcoin.  Its being done by big investors.  The day Bitcoin futures started trading on CME, every thing changed. As the open interest builds up in BTC futures,  there is a chance for Short squeeze to happen.  A short squeeze is a stampede where the large number of short sellers trying to close out their positions which will push the price higher.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin affects students' performance in school on: March 07, 2018, 10:05:31 PM
As far as I can observe being a teacher, I am definitely happy that my students are involve in cryptocurrencies and they earn for themselves and help their families. But, their school perfomance is getting worse. Please give your thoughts how will you help students to earn and at the same time it won't affect their school works?

Not for a second do I believe you're a schoolteacher. You know that going into crypto is basically gambling. And if it's not gambling, then it's a high-risk trade endeavor, like penny stocks.

For a teacher to condone such an activity is heinous.

Even if you believe in bitcoin. even if you believe in blockchain currencies... you would never encourage your students to get into crypto in the way you're suggesting. You would tell them to buy a little bit, maybe $10, something they can afford to lose. But you would never responsibly tell them to invest a whole lot.

As you've seen Bitcoin can go from 20k to 6k in only 2 months. What kind of teacher would be happy their students are getting into that kind of thing?

This is stress and risk that only people who are mature and responsible, and NOT in school, should deal with. Not students who are still learning.
Agree with you 100%.  Students should be concentrating on their studies, sports and other school activities.  They most probably will loose their focus if they get involved with Bitcoin, seeing crypto currencies in terms of money.  I strongly believe that as a teacher, you should try your best to steer them away from actual crypto trading or any involvement in real time trading or investing.  There is a reason for the legal minimum age requirement for trading and investing in United States is 18 years.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Every cryptocurrency price is going down.... on: March 07, 2018, 09:57:45 PM
I saw in cryptocurrency market every coin value going down, let's talk something now about future cryptocurrency.

Nothing new, markets go up and markets come down.  Its same with every market, stocks, commodities, bonds etc. Corrections are healthy for the markets.  Crypto markets are building a strong base, for a strong rise. The more it stays in this range, the breakout of the range will be very strong.  I am expecting BTC to rise in the next few months.

28  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price stabilizes? on: February 28, 2018, 01:18:10 PM
If we are interested in investing, trading etc. in cryptos, we have to learn to live with volatility as it is the nature of markets.  It happens in stock indexes, commodities, metals or bonds.  They tend to trend then correct but most of the time markets are ranging. So we have to treat crypto market like any other market, please don't look for stability in Cryptos.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I start out trading with $200? on: February 23, 2018, 06:19:45 PM
I want to start out trading altcoins but don't know where to start.  I don't have much money because I am a student.

Should I put my money in low cost coins such as NEM or should I put it in higher cost coins such as litecoin?
Should I spend $10 on each coin? $20?
Should I try a few ICOs?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you
If you are a beginner, trading might be a difficult task.
You might need a little more for ICOs may be.  Your best option is to buy individual coins.  Right now Cardano, Achain, Quantstamp, Verge are cheap and have very good potential.
Or you look into Crypto Funds like Bitwise or Crypto 20.  Take a look at Coincube where you can invest little at at time, which is connected to your account on Binance with automatic balancing, but remember Index funds are for long term investing.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which type of coins will be strong in 2018? on: February 20, 2018, 01:33:52 AM
Everybody asks which coins will increase but I would rather ask which type of coins will increase?

Do you think coins like Bitcoin, BitcoinCash, Litecoin?
or Privacy coins -like McAfee said- like Monero, Verge, Dash, Pivx
or Smart Contract coins: like Ethereum, Neo, Waves, Komodo, Qtu

another increasing type is Finance coins: Link, Salt, Hshares, BCPT

What is your opinion and why?
From privacy coins, Verge has huge potential.  Crypto trail blazer Bitcoin wil still lead the way in 2018 and beyond.  Infrastucture plays like Quantstamp, Icon, Achain, Rchain will have huge gains as they are undervalued right now and will provide for the expansion and growth of Blockchain environment
31  Economy / Exchanges / Re: bitfinex or binance on: February 19, 2018, 02:07:21 PM
If you're trying to choose between Bitfinex and Binance then yes, go with the second option. However, It's still not recommended to store your coins in exchange unless you're planning to trade them soon, It's better to hold them in a wallet where you control the private keys.
Hi why we should not store coins on those exchange? Do they take fee if we store coins there ?
You can loose access to the coins if the exchange goes down as it recently happened with Binance.  Out of the blue they shut down the exchange for more than 24 hours without announcing first.  They can also disable Sending function for an individual Crypto as Cardano's send was disabled for really long time.  Finally each time you send out your tokens, they charge hefty fees.  So unless you are planning to trade, just want to hodl, keep your coins off exchange.
Binance for me so far has been hands down the best exchange.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins You Think will Grow on: February 17, 2018, 01:58:05 AM
My No. 1 altcoin is EOS the ethereum killer.  I am expecting 10 to 20 X on this one.   Cardano ADA is my second biggest holding and have very good prospects.
No. 3 big bad is Quantstamp.
Others are XVG, LINK, REQ, ACHAIN, and RCHAIN.
Ofcourse my biggest holdings are BTC and LTC which everybody should own.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your favorite source of information about cryptocurrency news ? on: February 15, 2018, 04:10:25 AM
My favorite website is Hackernoon.com as it has some interesting articles, news, analysis etc about cryptos and blockchain in general.   Ofcourse bitcointalk.org is my main website where I hangout and browse all day whenever I get time.
Another one I look at is coinmarketcap.com which is good wholistic view of the crypto market.
34  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is bitcoin back to its own rhythm again? on: February 15, 2018, 04:02:54 AM
Since last couple of weeks we see that bitcoin price is going down and down.
Is bitcoin price back to the normal and touch the highest by the end of the year ?
Is it again creating the new milestone?

bitcoin never got out of its "normal rhythm" to now want to go back to it. it has always been like this, a big and fast rise followed by a big  correction and followed by a big panic sell. then after a while we always go back to the beginning of the cycle meaning the big fast rise.

whether this is the beginning or not is hard to say. i was expecting breaking of $9500 be the sign but i say to be safe you need to wait for the $10k to be broken to say this is officially start of the rally.
These corrections, up and down cycles happen in every market not just bitcoin.  This is very normal.  I am not at all worried as I am a long term hodler.  Its still in an uptrend which eventually take it new highs.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goodbye Bitcoin Hello Blockchain on: February 15, 2018, 03:56:43 AM
I believe that we are witnessing the setting down of the bitcoin sun, and similar to the sun on the north pole, which does not really sets down in the summer, so that is the Bitcoin sun.

The bitcoin was a great locomotive to the crypto industry, but it's time for it to step aside and let the technology take the lead.

The blockchain is the underlying technology of bitcoin and is the reason for the vast mainstream interest in this part of tech.
The mainstream has a lot of biased feelings toward Bitcoin, and god knows, there are definitely good reasons for that. But, unless the mainstream will be able to feel comfortable with using the tech, there will be no mass adoption and this beautiful technology will go to waste in the hands of speculative traders and scammers.

My personal opinion, don't shout  Roll Eyes
Bitcoin is the first crypto currency. Mass adoption of cryptos is coming and its going to be Bitcoin first.    It will be gradual after all the issues with btc are resolved. First step is Lightning network implementation.  Yeah so BTC sun will never set.  It will remain a leader in the crypto currencies.  Its my personal opinion too.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin needs to die on: February 14, 2018, 04:04:12 AM
Bitcoin will remain top dog of cryptos for the foreseeable future as there is no other crypto yet to take its place. There are many issues like transaction time, fees, speed etc. but Lightning network is coming which would aggregate and simplify transactions which in turn will reduce transaction time fees etc. This will solidify Bitcoin's number one place even further and with its supply of only 21 million would make it more valuable.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to buy Ripple (for Newbies) on: February 14, 2018, 03:49:27 AM
If you are in USA, you need to open an account in one of the US exchanges like Coinbase and buy Ether or Bitcoin.
Then you need to transfer that to exchanges like Binance or Bittrex where Ripple is traded against Bitcoin and Ether. My favorite exchange is Binance.com.  There you can buy ripple.
You can keep it at exchange or transfer it to wallets like Toast Wallet at toastwallet.com or at exarpy.com, if you are planning to HODL longterm.
38  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How do you power an Antminer S9 in USA / Canada with 110v? on: February 13, 2018, 04:29:08 PM
I am getting S9 delivered today. It was shocking that UPS wanted additional $110 for Customs fee but I have no choice.

I bought an EVGA Supernova titanium(1600 W) and TP link Network range extender.
What I understood from reading this thread is that each miner has to be on its own circuit.
Is there any thing else I need or need to do before I can start my Antminer?

I am complete newbie to all this.  Any input from the experts is appreciated.

Thanks

40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Import Duty Rate on L3+ Shipped to USA on: February 12, 2018, 06:16:24 PM
UPS guy was here to deliver Antminer S9 which I ordered from Bitmain back in December 2017 purchased using BCH and paid about $2800.
I was shocked when the delivery guy said I need to pay $110 in Customs fee.  Is this right amount? Who is charging me this fee US government or UPS?
I was expecting something like $25 to $30.
Any info is appreciated.  Thanks
