this thread is so active and valuable. The only issue I face is, if I come after a few days, I don't know if anyone mentioned me anywhere.
anyone uses anything which notifies if someone mentions on the forum, like on this thread.

You might want to check LoyceV's mention notification bot:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5209773

Thank you, will try to set up this over the weekend. Little complex  Huh

Recall that we had falling BTC dominance through a large part of the 2017 BTC price rise, and sure several of the shitcoins did outperform BTC on paper, but surely there would have been a much greater need to get out of those coins, and even questions about how to get out of some of them (once in them), so very difficult to give much confidence to figure out where bitcoin might go based on where it is relative to shitcoins.

Please, I don't want to recall the year where I did not know "how to get out of some of shitcoins "  Sad

Furthermore, another way that BTC dominance can be manipulated is by the addition of various other kinds of worthless coins.  i am not going to assert that tether is worthless, but there are other purportedly stable coins that may or may not be justified to add to the coin market cap (and even if tether might not be worthless, it is an asset is meant to be pegged to the dollar and provides a decent amount of in and out liquidity), so it just seems to be a bit of a different animal and whether it is inflated in one direction or another (whether artificially or not), that still might not really tell us where bitcoin is going to go whether we are talking short term or medium term.

Same would be true if something like a Libra coin were to show up on the scene (coinmarketcap) all of a sudden, and let's say it came on with an evaluation that was greater than the value of bitcoin, and maybe bitcoin's dominance would then sink between 10% and 25%, but still would not be telling us anything about bitcoin's price performance and/or that bitcoin is a much better asset to be invested into, even if there might be some ambiguity in its relatively short term price performance or its ability (or lack of ability) to sustain any kind of meaningful market cap dominance.

Totally agree that dominance can be changed by many factors without having any change in market condition. Like any altcoin pump, the addition of exchange on CMC, the addition of any token or coin of CMC, etc.
I just check once a while when my other indicators are not conclusive.

28  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase the most anti-Bitcoin organisation. Make #DeleteCoinbase great again. on: June 10, 2020, 04:12:53 AM
I have been coinbase user since 2016. I have never faced any issue as a customer, apart from the app not working when people need it the most  Grin
But they have been doing shady stuff for some time now. I never trusted them but now they just going beyond my distrust in them.
I have moved out my funds and in the process of winding up my account as soon as I can.

#deletecoinbase as soon as you can.

Not sure how many months I will take to make it to this list.
You are doing really great work, liked the dashboard which you have created. Thank you for helping the community members.

Bugger. Another worthy rival rears his ugly head. In truth, he's consistently outclassed me on most every level. If one were ever to see him troll around, I bet he'd be better at that too. Not to say he's not light and humorous too when appropriate. I support his application without reservation or even grudge.

You cracked me up ..lol
I fully agree with the part that mining is the backbone of the Bitcoin and the mining section deserves more.

1h

She is putting up a decent and laudable fight at this stage, even while trade volume has remained largely mediocre.... while at the same time, this lingering might be giving some credence to both a Lindy effect theory, and a damn bursting possibility.  Though I am NOT going to proclaim to know whether this time around of passing above $10k (presuming that we do) will either endure or if any of us can rest assured that 4 digits has become a view in the rear mirror rather than a reoccurring status.

More we squeeze more sustainable price action will be, it's maintaining well in the upper half of the recent range. I was looking at Bitcoin domination charts as well, going through a strong squeeze on that as well. Tried to breakout few times on different time frames but on domination chart but failed, but more we hit the sealing more we get closure to break it and fly to moon  Grin

Another non-technical thing I think is, whales are afraid to dump this time as a different type of whales can end up buying as they are paying a premium on their so-called institution GBTC.

Multiple factors to price action, some we know ahead, some we get to know later and some are never known to anyone. Cheers!

Can someone recommend me a portfolio tracker for Smartphone (iOS or Android) ?

Blockfolio is a popular app.

https://blockfolio.com/

I would say the best one, but just to not let them analyze data correctly, what I do is I pick a constant as a multiplier for my account. So If I buy 2 Bitcoin, I just add 0.2 in my portfolio, for example having 10x as a multiplier which only I know. That way they won't know my real holding.
33  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 07, 2020, 05:04:06 AM
i have not sold any since 2016, so this time, need to sell some good amount

That was too long to hodl that coin if you think you already gained profit why not sell it instead of getting for another long term again.

Agree, it's just I came as an idealist and consider bitcoin as a movement rather than an investment so hodling is my form of support to this movement. But I understand that I need to sell and buy again to even increase my bitcoins.

Will there be any impact of USA riots on Bitcoin price?

I think what is happening is so much stupidity at many levels by government, citizens and politicians, etc. Last night I was watching all this till 5 AM.
Looks like Police, Government wants to this shit to blow up.
Things are out of control, retail outlets are looted in broad daylight and I see enough people calling all this OKAY for justice.

These things just don't go away, times like these bring permanent divide in societies. Business burned and looted is not justice or any form of peaceful protest.
I believe heavy employment and lack of money because of months-long lockdown, also fueling this. But the kind of people I see which are looting does not seem to be starving.

I worry when business owners stand up against the mob which firearms. That clash will not go well. With Trump's not so calming tweets, Anonymous jumping with rioters, this is getting in the very dangerous category and very much widespread.

Now, I believe instability in many parts of the world, impacts local fiat currencies and more sanctions which leads to increase in the use of bitcoin. But so far those countries were smaller failing countries. The USA is huge, and this unrest will definitely have some impact on understanding how Bitcoin separates people's wealth from government control systems and institutions.

"Rioters, Mobs can loot my cash, Government & Financial Institution can loot my savings accounts, But no one can know where my bitcoins are." - Fonship

And "No country has enough force to fight with their own people"- Fonship

Control it, or we will see the biggest civil unrest in the world.

Man, I had better never have 15 bitcoins on me in an airport. Government will just seize it like cash....

https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2020/05/28/man-missed-his-flight-logan-airport-then-authorities-discovered-138980-cash-his-bag

Oh wait, I forgot, it's *my* bitcoin, not the government's money. They want the key they can torture me for it.

Note: It is possible this was an international flight where you do have to declare >10k for customs purposes. But still this does not sound like a job for TSA....

in the past I have seen posts where people discussed the need to declare value if bitcoin you carry too.

Still, it's unclear whenever we cross-border, if we have bitcoin that needs to be declared. Because even if it's not a hardware wallet, I control my bitcoin through phone or basic internet. Similarly, I control fiat also through my phone in bank accounts or credit/debit cards of multiple countries.

So I don't think Bitcoin needs to be declared when you cross the boarder.
The trouble is: at the gate you aren’t the one doing the thinking. TSA does...  Roll Eyes

Yup, but they can't know if I have bitcoin or not. they can just TSA(Think Shit Aloud)

If you don't have to declare money in your centralized bank, you shouldn't have to in the decentralized one either. But i wouldn't put it past TSA to start doing lobotomies to make sure their citizens didn't board the plane with those 12 words memorized. (Heard roach was the first one to volunteer for that procedure, let's just say it didn't go too well for him)
Yes, and same I consider my exchange accounts as offshore accounts as they are not based in my country. And exchanges have offices where there are not many people. So effectively majority is having offshore accounts  Smiley
