21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The second batch of PandaMiner B3 Plus Pre-sale coming soon! on: April 10, 2017, 05:48:41 PM
1)the reason why should pick you and

I'm fascinated with this feat of engineering more than I am in it for anything else, you have my word on that; in my spare time, I have been researching the makings of your Pandaminer. While it would completely solve all of my mining woes, I am more interested in the bigger picture. What I have discovered thus far, is that the Pandaminer is the solution to large state institutions in hotter climates becoming involved in crypto mining.  That said again, those large institutions, universities, prisons, etc closer to the equator that are on the fence about mining cryptocurrency with a portion of their computer programs would be convinced to make the choice to have a crypto program, if shown something like the Pandaminer, as 99% of the reason they would say no to such a thing would be the heat generated by armies of standard 6 card rigs.

I run a small baby farm with 18 R9 Sapphire Nano cards on 3 rigs, (Ubuntu 14.04.3, fglrx 15.30 drivers)  I just got a degree from a local college, and likely won't even use this degree because of how cryptocurrency has taken over my life and my interests. Cryptocurrency has changed my goals. When I got started, I was running a pressure washing / painting business while going through school to get a better job. I've changed my plan and at age 34, potentially see myself becoming a millionaire before age 40, provided I play the cards right.  I'm choosing to invest in mining operations; fiance is worried about stability, but I'm not. I'm not, because I'd rather try and fail, then be afraid to ever try.

Literature from the era of piracy in the Caribbean shows that many of the best pirates have had the dilemma of their loved ones giving them grief for participating. "You are insane, for building such an immense pirate ship!" Their wives would say. I am quite certain all of my fellow brothers and sisters involved in cryptocurrency have dealt with this, because it's different and our families love us. It is human nature to be afraid of the unknown, it is ominous especially considering a loved ones future. I have chosen to go with my gut and continue forward with this path; my gut has yet to fail me in the making of any such decision, including the one I made last year to jump in Ethereum mining with both feet in early March. Should've been going with my gut long ago - it's screaming at me to buy as many of these GEN II models you're willing to sell me. After all, I have some extra money now. I'm willing to purchase the unit you want me to run the tests on, if you'd like. I would like to purchase between two and ten of these rigs.

One thing that holds constant among those pirates is that the best ones stayed true to their visions regardless of their situations at home, they ended up doing what they wanted because they couldn't face going to sleep at night without trying.  Whether it was joining a pirate crew or building their own ship, they all had to make the choice to go after their vision. That era, just like the gold rush, undoubtedly had many men arguing with their loved ones about pursuing the treasures ahead. My response to them was, and always will be, that you cannot hit the bullseye unless you throw darts. My next dart will be comprised of some Pandaminer GEN II's!

2)how you can make a perfect review of PandaMiner GEN II.

Before I touch on how I will present my perfect review of the PandaMiner GEN II, I must tell you what I foresee for such technology. The PandaMiner GEN II is a marvel of engineering and has yet to be fully properly received, and this is because cryptocurrency mining is not as commonplace as it should be. Just like search engines weren't as commonplace in 2004, when Google was founded. This technology is what will solve the equation of major American universities in hot climates being hesitant  to be participating in cryptocurrency mining projects. As an individual who has daily first hand experience with a local large universities' staff members and regularly talks to the top head of the physics department there, I can assure you that this technology is what will make large crypto operations acceptable to fund at these large universities. By largely solving the heat portion of the equation, especially in southern universities (I am from Louisiana, a very hot mining climate.) you really exceed your bargaining power in any kind of a deal with the treasury department. I am actually participating in a summer research program and will be exposed to these people at this university, these same people that have the power to green light any such mining operation. Imagine selling 200 or 300 Pandaminer GEN III's if you were making them in bulk for major US universities. ( Like LSU ! ) They have funded many inferior projects, and that's exactly how it would happen.

I have a Youtube channel pertaining to my former business and have experience evaluating within a small timeframe. I know what you need to tell people to get their attention, and am very familiar with cryptocurrency, ubuntu and linux. I will touch on all the important talking points I plan on elaborating on in video 2, during video 1, briefly. Along with a well-done text and photo review, you can expect 2 video reviews, I recommend letting me do something around 90 seconds  to 2 minutes for one video, and maybe another five minute video for people who are 'really' interested. This would be the video that locks in a potential buyer, it would be treated as such. In the video review, I will have  a complete power/temperature chart corresponding to each test.  I will be presenting in-box temperatures as well as direct card temps, I am able to do this with usb powered thermocouples. If you wanted to test Ethereum and Zcash mining processes, at 0 - 15 - 30 - 45- 60 minute intervals, I will document the changes in temperature, hashrate, etc. You can expect charts, and I would also like to undervolt the GPUs and run another test to compare the average hashrates to. I will condense the 5 minute video's conclusion to a point where both large and small customers would both be sold on the tech.

here is a very good board

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2V0AHI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?

will do five tested most likely do six .  I don't test past five

I have a i5 7500t psu and I am mining it doing eth and decred

you can use an in g4400t in it  1 stick of ddr4 ram
Hey, when you come out of those 16x slots with a powered usb 1x riser, there's no issues? Or do you use the ribbon flex 16x to 16x? I have heard a bunch of stuff from people about the 1x not working in the 16x slot on the MSI gaming board.

you can buy Asrock FM2A88X PRO3+ mobo is a great one i just got five of this mobo with amd a4 6300 dual core cpus
You run 6 cards on it well?

hey I have an idea here..

think this would fit?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500414

I can get   490 sols using  140 watts

that  mobo  would be unreal with  8 of these nvidia pushing  3900 sols

if I lower clocks I can do  414  using 126 watts.    one card and the entire rig.

which means maybe 105 watts for the mining of zec.

Man  I would love to get that mobo.  load it with nvidia's and mine zec.

Go for it, if you have the money why not. I'm waiting til the new AMDs come

25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum: Good alt or stay away? on: April 06, 2017, 02:29:25 AM
Friends and family and icos all talk the talk, but when they are tested is when you realize their merit; eth devs have passed these litmus tests, hacks forks etc - secondly, there may or may not be political motivation, that makes me wanna gamble my money (meaning mining quip) and then thirdly, lastly,  just take a look around everything is being based off of it. It is the Amazon when Amazon was just released, and some people were still watching QVC. Ethereum IS the 2nd best crypto, I wouldn't even call it an altcoin, Microsoft's adopted it, it looks like the gold standard. Do you hear any other tech data giants talking about basing databases off of other coins? Just Ether.

Then, take a step back and think, what does one of these coins have that all the others don't

hmm struggeling with ubuntu and amd drivers. As soon as the amd driver is installed on my ubunto 16.04 after a reboot I don't get any screen anymore, somebody knows how to fix that? Wink It's the panda miner obv Wink

@Eliovp excited to see your work Smiley

I use fglrx 15.30 for my amd sapphire r9 nanos. I am not super Ubuntu experienced but I can give a few tips, of what I'd do,

nano .bashrc

at the end of that file, do you have

export DISPLAY=:0

also, after you install the driver,
sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --initial
sudo reboot

sorry if you know all this, just trying to help.

Okay, some more info

As already known, they're 470's 4G.

They ship them with already modified roms (Which are horrible, really, i have no idea what they were thinking but wtf..?)

So they copied the 1500 strap all the way up to 2000 and clocked it at 2050, which is ok, no problem there, everyone does this.

What bothers me is that they tried to set memory voltage, which makes no sense because it just doesn't work and thought it would be a good idea to skip DPM0 (300Mh 'core') and just overwrite it with (1135Mh)  Roll Eyes , i honestly have no idea why...

Anywho, obviously i changed all of that, wrote a custom strap, added voltage offset and guess what...

Already got speed (ETH) up by 1MH and power down, obviously not finished with it yet (pretty sure i'll get them over 30).  Wink

Here's a screeny, running their windows for testing purposes, only flashed 1 GPU to see the difference Smiley (GPU5)

Greetings!

Wow, that hashrate is great. I'd like to construct one of these with R9 NANO cards, SOMEHOW,SOMEWAY. Man, if all those were R9s, you would destroy Zcash with that military surplus warpile of pandas you have.

I am from Louisiana, a hot, humid climate. Heat is my worst enemy

Pandaminer has garnered my interest, (I would love to build one of these and am really trying to identify parts. I don't want to profit off of this, I don't have time to build these for a living :-) ) I am going through threads looking for a guy who built one and showed some sourceable parts. Probably isn't going to happen, but I'm still trying to figure out basic components that are viewable. Like, what motherboard that is, where I can get those gpus, what kinda power supply do you run, where do you get that neat flat metal case, all these are questions. Questions, questions, questions.

Questions like,  when is the 400 amp service gettin put in.  I'd just rather go with this smaller, quieter option, difficult to digest my current  6 gpu  build, after seeing this. Heat is such a problem for me, I really am intrigued!

These fast-grabbing money projects aka scams are getting more elaborated nowadays... But it´s easy to spot.

How can you get wrong the ETH/Aeter rate? Shouldnt be so complicated compared to the scope of the project. But what is more alarming is the fact that you can invest from any jusrisdiction without actually clicking on the accept terms and conditions -you can just send ETH to the address provided (same for everyone) and you will get your coins.

Those are going to be some expensive ledgers...

Do I have to  input  160 characters   according  this step  :    Optional: Embed 160 character message for Æternity genesis block.

You can put a message that will become part of the history and will be forever written in the Genesis block. Your grandchildren will be able to read it. Do not write anything stupid there.

This is just my luck. So, I always thought my dad got his knees taken out at one of the first few practices . So, I put on the blockchain that he was a collegiate football player, and then his telecom supervisor position he retired from.  I mean, that's what you're supposed to say, right? If someone goes kinda far in a sport or hobby, you say they used to be a 'whatever' . Bob used to be an 'amateur boxer'. I know a guy who had 3 fights and got his ass whooped every time and calls himself a boxer. So, I figured no big deal to put dad as a collegiate athlete. Fuck. Fucking awesome amazing blockchain. I'm just kidding, I don't care, don't want it reversed, it's kinda funny. At least I'm the first SOB at something in life

Well, I went and gave him a call and told him I got him a little gift , (I donated 12.15 eth for him and had him confirm it with a multisig eth wallet) I did this thing for him and my mom, the date and place when they got married, etc.

And he tells me, after I posted it,  Son, don't put I played football  for that school on there...

Anyone know if this question has been asked?

Can one person get more than one freebie wallet? Ie, i give 48 eth, I get 4 of those tricked out, aeternity branded wallets? they're branded...? That's going to be worth a ton one day. if unopened. put me down for 4.

Still have an issue with mining rig, getting an error - X  22:40:23|cudaminer3  Error CUDA mining: unknown errorCUDA error in func 'ethash_cuda_miner::search' at line 346 : unknown error.
What's the problem, I don't understand Sad

then follow up with adapter all and --odcc

alright, from here i hit atitweak -f 100 -p 20 and get some air moving.

from there, you move to eth proxy and the first ip should be 127.0.0.1:8080.

Hi, Please relay whatever you end up finding out to me, as I am having the same issue. If you find anything else about that, please let me know. I run a small mine  600mhs for now, but I'm adding soon :-)   (lady is not happy about it either)  but, I am considering putting a percentage of my nanos, or some new stuff I'm about to order, on Ubiq. I'm intrigued, glad to be in the thread. Future looks bright...!

Gonna take a minute and do some bomb googling, brb.

good luck with the sale. I'm going to pass as there is no cap..

I also read the whole whitepaper but couldn't find any information about the maximum supply. It mean supply will be unlimited. Is I am right or I missed something there?

There is no cap, but there is also no cap on Ethereum. The cap goes up as time goes on, as in the cap is infinity but humans don't live to infinity, so we don't experience the effect of it being infinity , nor does it matter. The amount goes up as time goes on.

I'm pretty interested in making a sizable investment, and I strongly agree with everything Elevated has said.

The stuff about how its difficult to make a sizable investment without knowing how much of a stake you will have is all valid and true, but the really important point for me is that an uncapped ICO makes me think the developers dont know how much money they need : they just want "everything they can get" and figure it out later. I would much rather invest in a project with a determined budget, where they have a good idea what they can do with X amount of money, rather than raise it all and figure it out later.

It betrays a lack of business acumen and savvy and makes you look a bit more like you jus want to raise as much as you can get, rather than what you NEED.

The stuff about wanting as many people to take part has some validity, but its equally open to everybody even with a cap, and the token swill be trad-able immediately so people can get involved whenever they want, so I dont think thats a good argument

The arguments of
a) it does not look good to potential investors : makes you look simply like money grabbers without a specific plan for doing X with Y raised, and doing Z if W is raised, etc
b) It makes it much more difficult to make a large investment in the early rounds because you dont know how much is going to be raised so therefore cant evaluate it properly (as an investor)

are much stronger imo, and should be adhered to. The fact ETH was uncapped 2+ years ago really isnt relevant anymore.

Great post by Elevated and also the post above.

Crypto is maturing with the day. Projects evolve and need to act more like real businesses. The investors are taking a risk to put money into your project. As an possible investor for me its important to know that you have thought about the financial aspect.

Just like a real business who seeks for investment, they would need a solid business plan and also a plan with the costs and return of investment for the possible investors.

In crypto it would be enough to know how much funds you would need for your project. I am sure you guys have calculated these kind of things, cause you seem like a really professional team. Any decent professional team would know these things before starting an ICO.

So the way I am looking at it. I want the project to have enough funding for development, marketing etc. But I also want the investors to have a fair chance of a ROI. They are putting the risk into it at the end of the day.

The best way to achieve this, is to put a cap onto it. For example your budget shows you, you need around $ 5 million, you would take some % for unexpected costs and that will be your cap.

Taking as much money as you can get is greedy and is a bad sign to your investors who helped made the project possible and successful. Most investors become valuable members of the community as well, and help with promoting, testing etc.

You have mentioned before that you value your early investors and community. A cap would fit with those words.

So in my eyes a cap would be to show your good faith to your early investors and community members and also would show us your professionalism by knowing the amount you need to fund your project. As every legit project / business should know.

---------------

In the blog for the ICO I saw the first 1.000 investors with 12 ETH or more will get a special threat. Does this only count for investments in ETH or also for BTC. It still isn't clear how the BTC investing works to me.

Also is there an instruction regarding how one can participate in ETH. I read somewhere you need to have an Aeternity wallet? It would help if there are instructions before the ICO is launched.

Thanks for your consideration and good luck with the project.

I concur with the other two gentlemen. Also the main net won't be ready till 2018.. So two things I don't care for. It is uncapped and can raise whatever amount. The main net won't be up until 2018.

I would not be at all concerned with any kind of underhandedness. I come from Louisiana, down here, I know corruption when I see it; it's everywhere, and I'm not saying there isn't a little here. It is the human condition.  But, I'm relaxed, since Vitalik's picture is all over their website, openly displayed as someone who would recommend this type of technology. Vitalik has really gone out on a limb, for all real respects that I would be concerned. He would look extremely stupid if this project failed, and I'm assuming Ethereum will tie into it somehow. *Already is, at least the ICO Smiley* I don't see him (VB) a guy as making a move like this without a positive financialreason behind it, just my opinion.  I don't think he'd be on board with something if it was bullsh!t. Sorry if that sounded elementary. gut, instinctual feelings usually are. if i were to have censored or altered that, it wouldn't have been the same. The legal muscle, Lior, is also involved with Matchpool's crowdfund, which means, if the legal arm of both of these teams is linked to VB, it makes me more comfortable somehow. Like i said, gut feeling.

Out of pure useability, Aeternity is the no brainer of those two projects, everyone uses smartphones, even children. Only people around 18+ care to be on an adult website, so if I had to make a choice, I'd pick Aeternity.

Again, concerning your risk concerns, I'd be more worried about having money on large exchanges, especially if Metropolis is properly rolled out. Cold storage, friend.  My plan? Dont be flashy. People will want to take it if they see it.  I don't mind driving a 10 year old truck,   or wearing beat up tennis shoes.
Lie detection, this should be good, just don't use it on me! ~~

Yani, Zack, Jack, (and all others associated with this project, and members of this website)

I'm Norman. I've had my eye on the project for a long time, mainly because of my assumption that if it takes off, Samsung and Apple (Google....) will have no choice but to adopt the technology. I'd like some of that action. Please put me down as one of the first 1000 contributors to have contributed 12 Ethereum or more to your campaign, as I read about on your website. I haven't decided how much I'm going to throw at this, I'm thinking, 20 or so. If Samsung and Apple's RnD departments adopt this technology, I forsee this as being something interesting. Surprised nobody has mentioned that. Matchpool will make it easy to run around, too, so...I'm gonna toss 20 eth at that as well. I assume both will be successful, which is why I'm only picking >these two<. At first, I didn't realize that this technology would be compatible with Ethereum, but once I read the whitepaper and understood that it is intended to be utilized by smartphones and mobile data mostly, once I realized that, it seemed to fit into the picture with Ethereum a lot better.
I've been involved with crypto mining since early 2016. My main target has always been Ethereum, and run my rigs on Ubuntu 14.04.3 and  build my rigs 6 cards each. I'm about to double my farm size, and am very excited about that. I wish everyone here who is involved with cryptocurrency the best.

Personally, I am going to invest an equal amount in both of them (this and Match) Was stubborn in 2013 with Bitcoin, learned that lesson the hard way and only dipped a toe in. I paid the price for it, but, that's trial and error for you. Wouldn't have made it here, if I didn't trip up back there.
Stay after it.

Best,
Norman
