What is going on with the  incentivized testnet? Is it still working? I delegated my stake to one of the pool ( which seems to be active all the time), but more recently,   got no reward for it. Should I cancel delegation/re-delegate to another pool/ wait?

ITN is closed for now, staking on the mainnet will start from August 18

When can I start receiving ADA coin stakes? I have a certain amount of Cardano coins in Yaroi wallet.

From August 18, Yoroi wallet should be updated for staking

I am being cautiously optimistic that by GOGUEN launch we can see a 30 cent coin. I am being very non moonish about my prediction but if it goes even higher, I will be very pleased. I have slowly been accumulating ADA since it was 3.8 cents so my dollar cost average (DCA) for ADA is around 5.3 cents which is not too bad. I do hope that there will be mass adoption once GOGUEN Ships as Shelley is mainly for staking in this ERA. I hope to stake mine so the capital grows over time for the long haul. For me ADA is the next ETHEREUM.

Good plan and good prediction. I think many projects announced on the Cardano Virtual summit can move the price even higher. When you see that so many opportunities exist and so many talented people work on them - price is the secondary aspect.

By the way did you decide with which pool to stake your ADA?

Cardano Virtual Summit Overview

During the times of COVID-19, many businesses had to close and some had to adapt. Conferences and events all around the world were canceled, but many of them moved to online. The cryptocurrency industry is among those who found new ways for communication, education, and networking.

One of the biggest crypto online events of this year was Cardano Virtual Summit: Shelley Edition, which took place on July 2-3, 2020. The content was organized in 5 tracks, and the conference was attended by more than 10 000 participants.

The Shelley update was implemented to the Cardano mainnet and the Shelley hard fork is expected on July 29. Staking functions should be available on August 18, 2020, and everyone interested in cardano staking will be able to do it from Daedalus or Yoroi wallets.

AzureAda Newsletter - Shelley test net updates

The past few days have been very busy... IOHK has spooled up the Shelley Testnet, then a Mainnet Candidate, then a Shelly Testnet 2. Each of those "genesis" chains requires complete rebuilding of wallets and stake pools. There have been many up until 1 or 2 AM nights learning the nuts and bolts necessary to successfully host a stake pool.

We've been there the whole time, creating and re-creating our stake pool nodes, obtaining test ADA (usually through polite, broad "please send me some tADA" comments) and minting blocks. We've been very engaged and involved in the Cardano stake pool operator community, watching as things unfolded, and provided some tips and a walkthrough of creation for other pool operators. In short... we're getting our feet wet and learning the ropes.

Throughout this endeavor, our Azure-based Linux virtual machines have been rock-solid and dependable, as guaranteed by Microsoft and we are very pleased. As an FYI, although Amazon Web Services is the largest public cloud, Microsoft has the most security certifications, feature set, and largest global distribution (>150 data centers globally).

We will continue to stay involved, with the plan being to be there on day one when Cardano mainnet is launched.

AzureAda Newsletter - July 2020

Happy Independence day to our US friends!

And greetings to our global friends.

As part of the decentralization efforts behind Cardano, we officially throw our hat into the Cardano Shelley Incentivized Test Net. That's right, we have a stake pool (Node, in the new parlance) on the Shelley Test Net! We are open for business. We've asked some of our friends on the network to grant us some test ADA so we have enough to produce blocks and are excited to mint the first one.

Here are a few things of note:

We follow best practice:

1 Node, with 2 paired relays

These are all on separate Azure virtual machines

We are leveraging a number of resiliency features built in to Azure, and will continue to enhance this over time, to give our delegators more protection afforded than a simple basement server setup.

All are currently located in Seattle, Washington, USA, but as you know, we have over 50 regions around the world we can quickly move our server to, for maximum performance and decentralization

We leverage the Cardano Community automation, developed by some of the top pool operators https://cardano-community.github.io/guild-operators/Home.html

This gives us a dynamic list of peers that are ON, and removes any that are OFF, keeping a list of working peers to stay up to date most effectively.

We will be testing the awesome JorManager software, developed by our friend, Andrew at Blue Cheese Stakehouse pool (BCSH), for even better visibility into the performance of our Cardano infrastructure.

As you begin to delegate to the new Cardano Shelley network, please consider cardano staking with us.

Presearch Keyword Staking experience

I recently wrote an article about Presearch so if you don't know yet about this project - you can read it. In this article, I would like to share some particular statistics about keyword staking.

I increased my number of PRE tokens to 11 000 (which is around $200-215) and started to stake more keywords (which you can see on the photo)

Now I don't stake them, as I had to sell all my PRE tokens (not because I was not satisfied, or decided to get another tokens, but because I needed money, cash - so that's why I sold them). I mention this so if you like some of these keywords - feel free to stake them, you won't overtake my keywords, and you can stake them for 1000 tokens only.

I also found the "golden" keyword, the one which brought be more traffic than all these keywords combined. Guess what is was? google. Yes, somebody was staking it, but the amount of staked tokens was only 1000. So with 2000 I overtook this keyword and it brought to me hundreds of views every day (but of course the modest amount of clicks). It lasted more than a week, and then somebody else took that keyword and staked 100 000 PRE (which is $1927 now). So it means now in order to get traffic by these keywords you will need to invest more in 1 keyword alone... Yes, you can stake 100 keywords instead (which I would do). This "google" keyword is not on the list, as I switched to other keywords.

How I choose the keywords? I checked the list of the most popular keywords and just went from the top to the bottom. All of these keywords are from this list (apart from p2pb2b which I used before and had 1 or 2 referrals). I experimented with the languages, I took some Russian keywords (names of social networks and "translator") but didn't get traffic on them, probably because Presearch is not yet popular there. Then I got some Spanish keywords and you can see that I got traffic from them. I think if you are interested in finding other language keywords, it might be good to check stats from which countries people use Presearch the most.

And some of the top English-speaking keywords had 1-4000 PRE staked, so you with a bigger amount you can take them.

Also it might be so, that some keywords which are taken now, might be free soon. As like in my example I needed money, so I stopped staking and sold PRE tokens. Other people or businesses who use Presearch staking might also need to allocate their budget to other activities. So it is worth sometimes to check different options.

The amount of clicks is a small number in this example, but in time as Presearch usage grows, these numbers will also grow. I'm enthusiastic about it, as it's an alternative to the Google Adwords monopoly, and it's so easier to use, you don't have to be an online marketer. Do you have any thoughts, experiences to share? Let me know.

What wallet did you used, Horizen wallet? Do you need help with it?

Hi Medar, the wallet which I used was Sphere, it was the first release (a while ago, just when the first version was released)
Last time I used Magnum wallet and with mnemonic phrase I restored this account.

And if you ask in general - I used multiple wallets: Paytomat, Coinomi, ZenCash full wallet on laptop which downloaded all transaction history, Guarda, an very recently - SafePay

Thank you for the clarify about what I asked.
Actually, in my personal idea It's much better to start with C family and C++ because the language is much more flexible than you think. However, Learning a new programming language is just about the syntax the structure is same and the algorithm you need to use is also the same.
Getting back into the topic, I see there are many available positions for the community managers but in the other hand, the people who usually apply for the position don't have the enough education even about this simple position. I suggest every one to do some more research and get some education before applying fore the jobs.

Yes, good plans. As for me, I'm learning Python and Haskell, but not to become a programmer (it's too late) but better understand the technologies, differences, work process. Also I'm learning cryptography
Learning some basics can help in technical writing, in speaking with developers, understanding articles, and might help in one of the future projects.

Regarding community managers - that's simple but often time-consuming job. Basically the person should be interested in project or cryptocurrency and other additional knowledge can be obtained easily.
210  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin and Crypto Jobs 2020 on: June 21, 2020, 06:53:12 PM
Since i'm very interested with crypto job I'll share my comment about the topic. In mt own idea the @OP could also link us the knowledge resources required for the crypto related jobs. As far I know in order to works as a developer in a crypto related company first we do need some blockchain knowledge and then we can start with languages such as Solidity.
However, I think the old school developers should start working with blockchain and cryoto Because I believe soon we will see much more available jobs the for the people who want to work as the crypto developers with huge amount of salary.

Ok, I think to work with Solidity - the good start will be "Mastering Ethereum" book by Antonopolous
Here is the link https://amzn.to/3ewDwCi

Also same author wrote "Mastering Bitcoin", very good book as well

Regarding learning programming - it's more individual, you can start with Python, now it's very popular language in smart contracts, or C or C++
Or even Haskell

I think it depends from project which you are interested to work with (or to build on top of it)

Crypto Jobs 2020 - A new list

My previous post about Crypto Jobs got both many views and a good amount of feedback so I decided to make the updated list. I will update crypto jobs list from time to time (maybe once a month) on Cryptotexty website.

Decided to comment here to follow the next updates on Primecoin which will shared on Bitcointalk

LeafWallet - EOS built into your browser

In all blockchain space, I see the browser-based wallets are becoming more popular. Today I tested LeafWallet, easy to use EOS wallet (it also supports BOS) which is especially good to use if you trade on Newdex.

The CryptoNote algo is now ASIC-mineable, and we didn't see the point in the cat-and-mouse chase game and didn't change algo, therefore mining tab was removed from wallets as it became pointless. We are not going to indulge newbies who want to play around with mining some coins with little effort sacrificing security to some questionable adoption. Even if we change mining it will be something that guarantees security as we see it. And it will involve investments as the only thing providing security in POW, and at the moment ASICs provide security because this is an investment with little range of mineable coins and no easy rental for attacks. So, no one button click to mine anymore, even if there will be such a button in the wallet, it will require also a stake of coins and/or hardware in flexible proportions.

Thanks for explanation, reasonable arguments

Hi, even if we change POW it won't be easily mineable for newbies in a sense of the flood of easy coins, it will require serious investments in any case, either in hardware or in coin itself.

I remember maybe 2-3 years ago the previous version of wallet had this option (you could choose pool or even do solo mining)
Somebody told me in another thread that there will be new version which will have this feature again

Are you thinking to change POW? To POS? Or just some anti-ASIC measure?

Hi,

Any info when the new Karbo wallet version will have mining from wallet? (Heard about in another thread)

I need it, because I know some people who want to mine crypto. They are new to the area and that's one of the best options for them)

217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZEN] Horizen: Unbounded By Design on: June 12, 2020, 01:58:29 PM
Hi everyone,
especially Medar!

It's been a while since I used Sphere, probably it was first release, I remember there was some competition that time

Then I wasn't able to login, and wasn't able to restore my account.

But just recently I started using Magnum wallet, and started to add there crypto-accounts. I found my mnemonic phrase and restored that old Sphere account.

So I was able to restore my modest 0.6 ZEN
A small thing, but still better than nothing

So I decided to share this in case somebody had similar problem.
And overall Magnum is very good mobile wallet, which I can recommend for everyone, who keeps their Horizen in liquid form!

This is nice so instead of google,  you can use their site to earn some tokens. But they should lower the min threshold of withdrawal because at their current rate of 8 tokens/day, you will earn those 1k tokens for about 125 days or more than 4 months, considering that you are always maximizing their allotment per day. Just sign up coz I'm online everyday and doing searches in google. So might as well use their platform and earn their tokens.  Wink But hopefully, the dev team will lower their min withdrawal.

Yes, I think that's good idea, I hope they will listen to it and can make the threshold smaller (i.e. 500 or even 200 tokens)
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Presearch (PRE) - Decentralized Search Engine on: June 09, 2020, 06:37:44 AM
I have tried preserach as default search engine in my browser. Image search is too specific, only displays images without able to access or view pages on the website, so it's just like an imgur link.
I get 0.25 PRE tokens for each search, but it seems reward for serching is limited in a day. Hopefully you add more features like Google Serach.

Yes, the reward is limited per 8 tokens a day
You can read my article and you will know more details)

Presearch – crypto-Google alternative

Google as the company started as a search engine. Even now when Google has multiple products and divisions, the search engine element is one of the most well-known, used, and profitable (Google Adwords generate huge amounts of revenue). The word «google» itself became the synonym for «search». I remember the days of Altavista and Yahoo, but I understand that most people can’t even imagine the internet without Google.

For many years Google has a monopoly in web search, but of course, there are alternatives. Presearch – is crypto-alternative, which I personally use for many months.

Presearch gives the possibility for users to monetize their searches. After registration and setting up Presearch as your search engine, you will be receiving 0.25 PRE tokens for each search.
