201  Other / Off-topic / Re: [FUD] Bicoin biggest scam in the early history !!! on: February 18, 2014, 04:01:38 PM
Bicoin is biggest scam in the early history,
Mining company buy bitcoion and constantly raises his prices, and again sell bitcoin, and so the circle,
its most centralized currency the world has ever seen

Check difficulity, each 10 days its up about 25-35 % , and after the bitcoin price jump about 25 - 35%.  Huh

http://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

Cleaning mining hardware has begun, after that game iz over, will no longer be nobody that raises the price and Bitcoin is dead.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=397876.0

Then stock market is also considered a scam..

I just started after open beta and pretty much having fun with the arena Smiley
206  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Question about powered/non-powered risers & fire risks on: February 18, 2014, 03:55:04 PM
I've been doing a lot of reading basically because I'm paranoid about my mining rigs causing a fire. In some articles people have said powered risers have been known to cause a fire risk, and in other articles they say NON-powered risers can cause a fire. Does anyone know for sure which is correct?

I know the point is of a powered riser is to take the load off the motherboard and prevent it from overloading, but with a good motherboard (I use the MSI 970a G43) should that be necessary with only 3 R9 280x's?

I'm sitting here with some powered risers I bought from eBay, and I'm worried about using them in case they cause a fire while I'm not around. Anyone ever experienced any problems/issues with powered risers before (in terms of them overheating, shorting, spontaneously combusting?)

TIA

Additional question. I'm planning on running 3 x Sapphire R9 280x's on the motherboard with a 1000W Corsair modular PSU. I think I've done the maths right and this PSU should have enough power. I read in a number of posts a single 280x pulls a max of 250W, so that's 750W for the cards and about 150W for the Mobo, AMD Sempron CPU, and Sata HDD. Still leaves 100W spare. Does that sound about right?

Both risers and non-risers can cause fire if you overload it. Just make sure to have riser for the 4th GPU and above..

I am happy to have the 30cm cables. Its so much better then the normal riser..

Did you plug Molex's into the extra Molex sockets on the motherboard?  They are there to provide extra power for cards.

But the problem is 1x doesn't supply enough power to GPU..

211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: middlecoin mining on: February 18, 2014, 03:45:41 PM
i use middlecoin.com with ati radeon xpress 200m and bfgminer. The speeds are usually between 130 Mh/s to 19 Gh/s. How long it takes to make 1 dollar if i mine 5-6 hours a day? So far here 3-4 days and I have not been paid.

bfgminer says: "no devices found press 'm' and '+' to add" but it works fine. Why it says that?

Thank you.

Too unefficient, you would be paying more electricity then what you earn..

Switched to Clevermining, Wafflepool and Altcoinplex
Equal speeds to CM and WP, just to compare
Will see..

Nice, which one give you higher payout as of now?

Altcoins, definitely. Anything without ASICs involved.

But ASICs is coming to altcoins..
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sick r9 290 club3d on: February 18, 2014, 03:30:52 PM
Hello , I have 3 rigs , after 20 hours of fucking around I finnally found the problem why one of my rigs was crashing again and again.

1 card is sick/ dead. If I try the same card in the other rigs it wont work..
But the card is not dead. I can still plug a monitor in it and it works. It just crashes when I start mining.
All cards are the same..

Can anyone help me out? Is it really dead? It crashes after 3 minutes..

Settings?
218  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: First mining rig psu question on: February 18, 2014, 03:30:27 PM
Hi guys,

I want to build my first mining rig, and I've already bought all the parts I need, but I just want to be sure everything will work fine.
These are the parts I've bought:
- Gygabyte GA-990FXA
- SeaSonic X-1250 PSU (yes 1250W)
- AMD Sempron 145
- 4X  Gigabyte R9 280X
- 4 usb powered risers (these)
- KINGSTON HyperX blu 2 x 2 GB DDR3-1600

I would like to know if 1250W is enough for this, on the extreme power supply calculator (http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp) I came out on 1240W recommended..

Kind regards,

Jack

1250w should be enough even if you overclock alittle.
219  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is it safe to use 8 pin CPU rail as a 8 pin pci-e (of course with a convertor)? on: February 18, 2014, 03:28:34 PM
Yeah don't use molex!

Some time ago I had some HEX16A miners from technobit, they use about 80 watt each and are powered by a molex connector. My PSU only had one cable with molex connectors (like most modern PSU's do these days) and when I had one miner on the cable it already got quite hot. When I had 2 on the same cable it became too hot to hold for over 30 seconds. When I added a 3rd one the cable became too hot to even touch.

To OP:
I understand why you're asking this, but you might want to consider buying an extra PSU. Usually PSU's are most efficient if they're being used for about 50-75% of their capacity. And besides that, it's probably quite some money you've spent on GPU's, why would you risk losing them (or the PSU)?
Maybe it's just my philosophy, but I would never do "tricks" with PSU's to save a few dollars, I would go for the safer solution to be sure it will run like it should.

Molex have a 150 watt capacity, just make sure you don't cross that.
220  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: undervolting r9 280x linux - possible? on: February 18, 2014, 03:27:34 PM
Hi there
Is there any way to undervolt r9 280x under linux (SMOS/BAMT to be exact)? I've seen people changing BIOS for HD7970 to undervolt but didn't found any bios editor for r9 280x.
Anyway would rather like use software command if possible. Or I have to use Windows for that purpose?

Cgminer of course ignores voltage settings.

Use 7970 editor, they are the same.
