201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Camp BX - Affiliate Program Announcement on: July 10, 2011, 10:43:44 PM
Is there any way we can track referrals, or at least show some stats like number referred and commissions generated?

Randy,
Certainly - You will see the commissions in your timeline as "Refund from CBX".  We are working on showing more statistics about the referral links.

Hope this helps,
     Keyur

202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CampBX Launch - Free Trades for All Bxlievers! on: July 10, 2011, 09:44:22 PM
In this case, I think it could be made more clear in the display that the transactions are linked.

I also think that there are still some timezone issues here, which I didn't see you say anything about.

Error,
We have re-worded the records to say "BTC Deduction", which should hopefully alleviate the confusion caused by words like "BTC Withdrawal".

Timezone display are certainly an issue - plan is to let users pick their own timezone in profile and then format the stamps accordingly.  Will keep you posted as we get close to pushing this in production.

Thank you,
     Keyur

Can you add a feature that will send you an email anytime an order has been executed (optional)?

Element - we are looking in to adding this feature.

Thank you,
      Keyur

204  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CampBX Launch - Free Trades for All Bxlievers! on: July 10, 2011, 08:16:11 PM
OK, I find this slightly confusing.

Yesterday I sent 5 BTC to CampBX, and put in two sell orders, one at $14.75 for 2.5 BTC and another at a much higher price for the rest of it.

Today I see this:

The deposit BTC transaction looks pretty obvious, except for the fact that the times are completely different.

The sell transaction also looks fairly obvious.

The extra withdraw BTC transaction is confusing for several reasons. Since I already had 2.5 BTC sold via the sell order, why show an extra transaction? After seeing this transaction, I had to go check to see whether my account got hacked and my BTC stolen, because that's what it looks like. (Fortunately it was not.) Also, why are the times so different - is there some timezone handling problem? When did this sale really take place?

Error,
The BTC transactions estimates the times when you check your balances on Camp BX.  So timestamps may be off by a while depending on how often you check your balances.  Improving time accuracy is already on our tweaks list.

Users like to slice and dice the CSV timeline according to personal preference, so we show extra / sub-transactions in our records.  Sell/Buy orders and Deposit/Withdraw transfers show up as distinct records.
This behavior is of course customizable, and if there is enough demand from users to mask sub transactions we can easily do that.

Thank you,
      Keyur

205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Camp BX - Affiliate Program Announcement on: July 09, 2011, 01:47:52 AM
Also, I posted this question in the main camp bx thread, but maybe this is a better thread to ask this question:

Quote
Keyur, will you give people a way to see how many have signed up from their referral links, and way to see how much they have earned from referrals? I like how TradeHill does it, even though it is a bit depressing to see how little money comes in that way.

I hereby second the question Wink

Yes, you will see your referral earnings in the timeline as "Refund from CBX".

Thank you,
      Keyur

206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Camp BX - Affiliate Program Announcement on: July 09, 2011, 01:44:48 AM
I'm actually curious as to how this works - given that CampBX is a US based company, do you not have to figure out who is in the USA (my guess is most due to the Dwolla requirements), collect form W-9s, and then if someone in the USA makes over $600 (I think?) do you not have to file further paperwork with the IRS?

Keyur, you seemed to have covered all your bases so far with CampBX - hope you didn't forget this one in the rush to compete with TradeHill over the #2 spot.

Elggawf,
We have a CPA firm managing all taxes, so I am pretty sure they have the IRS bases covered.

Agreed that becoming #2 is part of the process, but that is not what we are competing for  Wink !

Thank you,
      Keyur

207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CampBX Launch - Free Trades for All Bxlievers! on: July 09, 2011, 01:41:44 AM
Especially with short trading, I would like an API for this.

An API is in the pipeline?

Matthew,
Yes it is!  We are planning to launch API at the end of first month.

Thank you,
    Keyur

208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CampBX Launch - Free Trades for All Bxlievers! on: July 08, 2011, 05:37:56 PM
Looks good so far.

Please consider formatting the market depth table like NASDAQ Level II Quotes so that the spread is right at the top of the chart.  Not only would it appear more professional, it would be a lot more recognizable to everyone who trades on other markets.

Buy/Sell buttons right on the market depth chart similar to forex software would be nice as well.

I look forward to the graphs.  Long term I hope they have a robust set of tools for annotating and saving charts.

Thank you Dentldir,
Buy/Sell buttons next to the depth table are in already in testing, and hope to roll them out shortly.

Unfortunately the graph upgrade is going to take longer than expected, so stay tuned for that later in the month.

Thank you,
     Keyur

209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CampBX Launch - Free Trades for All Bxlievers! on: July 08, 2011, 05:35:16 PM
hi Keyur, I am using your exchange and i like it.

However, on the trade now page, is it possible for you to have the inputs in one box calculated for you based on the input in another box?  for example, if i have $80 in my account, and want to buy btc at $14, can you rig it so that it will calculate the number of btc itself, while also taking into account the trade commission?

Thank you Mouser,
We are looking to implement a "Spend X Dollars" option to the trade now screen.  We have a couple more things in pipeline prior to that, but this feature is definitely on our radar.

I just singed up. That was easy.

Welcome Sarah!

Good evening everyone,
We have received a lot of requests about affiliate program for friends and family.  Bowing to our user's request, we are happy to announce the CBX Affiliate Program!

This program allows you to create a special incentive for your friends and family. Whenever someone signs up using your affiliate link, they get a 10% lifetime discount on Camp BX commissions and you get a 10% share of their commissions!

To find out your affiliate link, please log in to your Camp BX account and click on "My Profile".

Please note that the discounts will processed on 1st day of each calendar month, and will show up in your activity timeline as "Refund from CBX".

When sharing this link, please use restraint and do not spam people. Any complaints of spamming or violation of Camp BX User Agreement will result in immediate disablement of your affiliate link.

Thank you and happy trading,
     Keyur

https://CampBX.com/faq.php

I don't like this at all! I already have a camp BX account, so no possibility of me getting a 10% lifetime discount?   Late adopters get rewarded and an early adopter like me gets punished?

If we wanted the Amway of exchanges, we already have Trade Hill.

BTW, I got charged reduced, but not zero commissions today, so this free promotion thing isn't exactly what they make it out to be.

Billy Joe,
Of course not - you will not miss out on the lifetime discount.  We will take care of first 270 signups, so stay tuned for an announcement!

Also I wanted to point out that the all commissions charged till July 15th will be refunded on July 17th.  It will show up in your timeline as "Refund from CBX".

Thank you,
     Keyur

212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Camp BX - Affiliate Program Announcement on: July 08, 2011, 02:41:25 AM
will existing members who signed up before affiliate program announcement receive lifetime discount or do we have to signup again through someone's affiliate link?

Stay tuned for another announcement in a couple of days for existing members!  We will never leave our first 270 friends hanging.

213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Camp BX - Affiliate Program Announcement on: July 08, 2011, 02:34:50 AM
Doesn't anyone else think this is trashy? Now we can have campbx spam everywhere we get TH spam, awesome.

You know what I associate TH with? Emails in my box from the MtGox leak.

I'm not saying all affiliate programs are bad, but automatically making everyone one of your 'affiliates' is reckless. It's no good to affiliate with everyone. Most people aren't competent to give you a good image, let alone the worst people.

FM,
     Completely agree with you.

I would like to point out that our program is fundamentally different in terms of execution: you don't have instant discounts, but rather a monthly refund cycle.  This longer lead time makes it a near-impossible task for spammers to make some quick cash in a matter of hours.

Thank you,
    Keyur
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some order processing option ideas for MTGox, TH, B7 and others on: July 08, 2011, 02:16:17 AM
✪ good till certain time (end of day, etc.)
✪ all or nothing order fill option

I believe Camp BX offers these.

Thank you Stephen - that is correct!  I will also appreciate this thread's thought on following:

✪ good till canceled:    Pseudo solution: you can use the "Expiry Date" option to set a long-term expiry date (up to 31 days), and use "cancel" option from My Trades whenever you intend to cancel the open order.

✪ all or nothing order fill option    We also have Fill-Or-Kill option.  It is a great tool to probe Dark Pool liquidity.

✪ partial order fill accepted option (if not automatically offered) <-- take notice bitcoin7!  Need more details on this one, but is this something similar to Incremental fill option?

✪ approved acceptance of selling / buying within a price range instead of at a set price (including within % of a certain price)  We have a Limit price option, where you can set one price and anything better will be automatically accepted.  I don't think you would want to refuse a bigger profit by binding the range at both ends!

Will the 0.5BTC minimum limit be removed at any point? I'd be using it a lot more if I didn't have to wait for a half a Bitcoin to put money in, and if I didn't have to do it in multiples of 0.05. :\

... and with Tradehill being down I'm bored as shit right now.

Elggawf,
Will update the limit later today.

Also stay tuned for one more announcement!

Thank you,

217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CampBX Launch - Free Trades for All Bxlievers! on: July 07, 2011, 08:43:36 PM
a few questions.

Where or what is the ticker?
is it on http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/ or http://www.bitcoinwatch.com/ yet?
When will an order book be instated?

Biggest issues with tradehill and bitcoin7 is we really can't see the order book, and even with mtgox it is very spotty.

does campbx have a feed for sierrachart?
I'm assuming if it is on bitcoincharts it should have one but I don't see it.
bump

Tasty,
Our testnet version displayed the full order book, but the request from most of the users was to switch to a depth table view.

As for the latest prices ticker, you can see them at top of every page, and we are working on a feed out to Bitcoin Charts.  Sierra charts is not on the list, because we have not received too many requests around it.

Thank you,
     Keyur

218  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Camp BX Hacker / Security Audit: Results on: July 06, 2011, 04:07:12 PM
It's a start, but security for a financial institution takes a whole lot more than an automated test. You need to think about things like managing an offline wallet, physical security for that wallet and for your servers, and background checks for employees. You need a non-automated inspection by an expert, who will actually take the time to look at your source code.

If you run a Bitcoin exchange and it takes off, you aren't just up against script kiddies.

Jim,
Agree with you 100% - Coming from a corporate background we consider what you mentioned essential for security.

Our servers are housed in a physically secured data-center designed to survive F3 category tornadoes (if I am not mistaken), and have connectivity with three telco backbones.  There are two Caterpillar diesel generators for extended power outages.

We have identified primary and secondary owners for Wallet, and only these two people have access to it.
Same goes for the database.

We also background check our employees as part of the security policy, and have a matching MSA with contracting firms.

Thank you,
      Keyur

Error,
Thank you very much for a thorough and unbiased review of the McAfee result.  We really appreciate this from you!

Wanted to add that we have a patch and upgrade schedule in place for our environment.  Admins prioritize patches based on criticality, and test / deploy them accordingly.  For majority of software we are on most recent codebase.

Thank you again,
     Keyur

take the "BTC" out of the depth table, dont round it all the way up, put a pause button on the chart slideshow... , get better graphs, API is needed

layout is cool but it's still a bit confusing to read shit

Check and check!  Graph update is already in development; will allow you to pause and zoom the graphs.

Thank you for trying out Camp BX Frank,
     Keyur
