201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Antminer Z9 "non-mini" is available from Bitmain on: July 10, 2018, 03:01:33 PM
Unless it overclocks nice, it doesn't make sense to buy one over the minis. 3 minis overclocked will give you around 48k sol/s with around same power use for $1k cheaper.
202  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Avalon 821 & 841 on: July 05, 2018, 03:28:36 PM
If all of them drop at same time it sounds like it could be a network or DNS issue. I and others had issues with some units coming with bad fans. They'd run fine for x amount of time then overheat and shut off and be fine after rebooting until crashing again. Canaan will send replacement fans if that's the issue but you'd need to monitor logs before it crashes. Once it crashes there's nothing in the logs. Prior to crashing, my bad fan would show spinning at 100% and 0RPM and then overheat to 150C before shutting off.
203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: July 03, 2018, 05:38:53 PM
Only a 209,999,900% increase in price since I started mining....
204  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: small home asic farm still in progress on: July 02, 2018, 06:44:47 PM
So, now i would try it AGAIN with a Z9?

First batch is still making $25-30+/day. Later batches might be worth the gamble since Zcash isn't forking.
205  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: June 28, 2018, 06:17:21 PM
Where is the October verbiage? GMO's site says July batch but their taking "applications" for orders.

It was in all of their press releases, presentation, and also still currently on their pricing page, although that now says shipping November 2018. FAQ still says end of October for June orders.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 26, 2018, 11:49:20 PM
No.  None of those are likely to be actual batch two orders.  As I pointed out in a previous post an hour or so ago, the one where I linked to that list in the first place, those are probably just batch one orders where the transaction did not get confirmed until recently which means someone didn't include enough fee so they were stuck in the mempool.  There's no indication that they are batch two orders.

They are announcing as "latest rounds" on their new Twitter. Orders are first paid, first shipped and they will ship out early if available. My batch 2 order was paid and confirmed on June 5. Others buying batch 2 may have only done the 50% down, which doesn't guarantee you any shipping until fully paid. I highly doubt there were over 100 orders that were waiting over 4 weeks to confirm after batch 1 was sold out. Guess I'll find out soon enough. Getting my batch 2 early would be nice since I got fucked on batch 1.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 26, 2018, 09:08:41 PM
Batch 2 is not being shipped, yet. Only batch 1. Just received my batch 1 today.

Based on the list linked to, anything after around May 17-18 would have to be batch 2 since batch 1 was sold out by then. My batch 2 order might actually be on there, just different time for payment confirmation. Won't know for sure until I receive shipping update.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 26, 2018, 07:38:45 PM
They will wait till they ship on the dates they said they would ship.  Remember they are already bought, why would they ship early?

I had made a batch 2 order with coupons from 1st batch on June 5 and I do not see it on that list and did not receive shipping notification. Kind of odd since batch 1 has been sold out since May. Guessing that list is batch 2 orders though since it starts at 1 and 5/11.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z9 list of working pools on: June 22, 2018, 07:32:09 PM
Just tested slushpool with ZEC and 100% rejected.

They want testing done on their debug pool and then notify them after.

I got mine today. Belongs in altcoins forum...
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: June 21, 2018, 10:36:24 PM
Can you just pay the driver the import fee?

Maybe, but didn't seem that way. On mine it was holding it in China until I paid the fee and they didn't release for shipping out of China until I paid. You can pay online.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z9 list of working pools on: June 21, 2018, 10:32:55 PM
We are still looking for a proud owner of Z9 or A9 that would be willing to help us with debugging.

Contacted. Should have mine tomorrow.
213  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Canaan releases the "Moose" - Stackable unit containing 12 x 841 ready to mine. on: June 19, 2018, 07:26:58 PM
First I have EVER heard that and frankly there is no reason to separate them.

When I was dealing with support I had attached a photo where there was about 1" spacing between units. I only had them like that for the photo to show all status lights. They told me they were too close and distance between miners should be larger. When 841 units overheat from fan failure the casing gets hot enough to burn you. I had no problems running Avalon 6 units touching each other in the past but they also run cooler.

Any updates with Slush?

This is original report:
https://researchcenter.paloaltonetworks.com/2018/06/unit42-rise-cryptocurrency-miners/

I've seen a decent amount of popular sites infected with JS crypto malware, primarily through their ad servers, that mines when visiting the site. Pretty obvious when your fans start going crazy and CPU load is 100%. As long as scammers are paying customers, Google doesn't seem to care about serving malware and phishing sites through ads. Just last week, if you searched for eBay, a scammer had an ad at the top of results with fake virus alerts and crypto mining when visiting. Obviously scammers are making more money than what it costs to run the campaigns if they continue to do it.

Pretty cool, but seems to be a sign of having too much stock and never ending price war with Bitmain. Offload what they can with shorter warranty period. Kind of funny they mount them right next to each other like that when their own support will tell you not to and that they are too close.
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitmain's Twitter Deleted? on: June 14, 2018, 08:41:47 PM
It was deleted or locked by Twitter, not Bitmain. Prior to this, almost every post was flooded with scams claiming to give away free ETH. They said they were using their Twitter account to announce and show QA results of Z9 shipments for transparency. Were supposed to make an announcement today for next shipment.
218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitmain's Twitter Deleted? on: June 14, 2018, 07:00:26 PM
So did Bitmain's Twitter account get deleted for all the scammers commenting on their posts or what?
219  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: June 11, 2018, 03:34:42 PM
I was watching the english version of the presentation and these apparently have some kind of GPS tracking enabled that they say is for locating during theft. They claimed they are already testing/mining with a B1 miner, which is not for sale to the public. B2 is still only in tape-out and they have no chips yet. Warranty is only 180 days.
220  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: June 07, 2018, 02:30:31 PM
for some reason my topic on it got deleted totally. Or I cant seem to find it anymore lol

Probably because it's still speculation that they have more than just a prototype. They could have run it at the presentation to show it was legit. On top of that, their photos show a hash board that has a completely different layout and less than half the chips that they show in renderings here:
